“Remus! Be thankful they’re taking on this fight for ya. We get to sit and watch these slimy snakes get schooled!” Peter chimed in. Sirius nodded and grinned. “Just leave this to us Remus. James and I know what we’re doing.”

“They wouldn’t dare,” laughed Sirius. “That’ll get them a one way ticket to the train back home. They’d be kicked out of Hogwarts for that!” he said. “Trust me Remus, if they’re smart, they’ll settle it like men.”

“What if they’re not smart and just want you to suffer?”

James laughed. “Remus! You think too much. That’s not going to happen.”

Sirius nodded in agreement with James. “He’s right. Don’t worry your pretty little head about it,” he giggled, gently tapping Remus on the forehead.

Sirius eventually ate a few more bites and put his fork down. He certainly didn’t want to over eat. He checked in on James to see how he was doing. Peter was just happy to be able to eat as much as he wanted and not have to deal with confrontation or a fight like Sirius and James were going to.

James had eaten a normal amount of food. He wanted to be fueled up for his fight! “So… where are we meeting them again?”

“Courtyard. That is if they show. I doubt the cowards will,” said Sirius with a smirk. “Wouldn’t that be funny if they didn’t show! That would be an automatic win for you lot!” Peter laughed.

“Well if it makes you feel any better, I don’t think they will,” said Sirius. “Come on James, once you’ve got your fill, let’s head out to the courtyard and warm up,” he told the messy haired boy. “You two are welcome to join and watch if you’d like,” Sirius offered to Remus and Peter.

Remus sighed. “I… I don’t know.”

“Come on, Remus! Cheer your mates on.” James bumped Remus’ shoulder. “And yeah, we should go.”

“I’ll come along!” Peter said, putting a last bite of food into his mouth. The sandy blonde haired boy looked eagerly to Remus. “If you want to come Remus, you know where to find us,” said Sirius, getting up.

Remus sighed. “Fine. I’ll come.” Maybe he should be there in case things went wrong.

James got up. “Yes! You won’t regret it!”

“Remus, prepare to witness sweet revenge and payback against your bullies,” said Sirius with a grin as the four Gryffindor boys now left the Great Hall and started towards the courtyard. It wasn’t too dark so they’d still be able to see. One could just barely see the crescent moon in the sky.

Remus immediately relaxed at seeing the crescent moon. It made him feel easy knowing that his transformation was still so far away. Creeping on him, yes. But far away.

“So, Sirius! Have you ever fought someone before?” James cracked his knuckles.

“Not really,” shrugged Sirius, unbothered by his lack of combat skills. Living in the house of Black, there was no need for such barbaric ways of resolving disputes. The Black’s were much more willing to handle things through civilized means, and by civilized, that meant unforgivable curses. “I’ve fought my little brother Reg a few times,” he mentioned, although these silly disputes between the two brothers were never too violent. “How bout you James? I bet you have right?” Sirius asked with a grin.

“Nope! Never meant anyone like that.”

Remus groaned. “You two have no idea what you’re doing, do you?”

“Relax Remus. Look at us- we’re tougher than the both of those guys,” said Sirius. He and James were fit and in shape for two eleven year old boys, but nothing special. Snape was rather awkward and lanky but that Mulciber lad was a brute. He looked like an ogre, even at eleven. “Yea Remus- James and Sirius can handle them!” Peter said encouragingly, being their number one cheerleader.

“H-Have you seen Mulciber?” Remus knew that James and Sirius were average sizes for first-years, which meant that Mulciber could probably punt them.

“So what? He’s stupid enough that we could probably confuse him!”

“James is right. Mulciber is just a big oaf. He might have the size but he lacks anything up in the old noggin,” said Sirius, tapping his own temple. “Relax Remus! Just enjoy the show,” said Peter.

“At least I know where Pomfrey is now,” he muttered.

James sighed. “One day you’ll have faith in us! I just know it.”

Sirius began to stretch. He didn’t really have nerves settling in yet but he was determined to teach the two Slytherin boys a lesson and avenge Remus. “He’ll have faith in us very soon,” he smirked.

James took off his glasses and handed them to Peter. “Can you hold these? My mom would kill me if they broke.”

Peter nodded and grinned, seemingly glad to be of some help. “Of course,” said the sandy blonde haired boy as he gently took the glasses into his protection. “You ready James?” Sirius asked the Potter boy.
