Fluffy then pressed one of his massive ears to Remus’ chest as if to listen to him breath like a doctor. “Fluffy hears that the young boy is breathing okay,” said the elf, giving his diagnosis. “Bloody hell,” grumbled Sirius at the house elf obsessing over Remus like a mother. “He’s fine, Fluffy. He needs something for his belly,” he said. Fluffy nodded, “Yes yes! Food! The boy is so skinny!” the elf replied. “No not that!” replied Sirius frustratedly.

“Okay then! Fluffy will fetch the boy some ginger!” said the house elf as he hopped off the stool. Sirius looked over at Remus and shrugged. It was concerning though how skinny Lupin was. He surely wasn’t getting enough at home. Even Sirius got enough to eat, and his parents regularly sent him to bed without dinner.

“Say, Remus. Why are you so skinny?” Sirius asked. “You sure you’re getting enough to eat at home?” he asked. The house elf soon came back with some leaves of ginger on a plate. “Here young one, Fluffy has fetched some ginger for you,” said the elf, offering up the plate to Remus with a smile.

Remus froze. Nope. That was a can of worms he couldn’t touch. “Thanks for the ginger, Fluffy.” He accepted them.

“Of course young Gryffindor,” said Fluffy with a smile and a bow. “Fluffy hopes he has been a good elf,” he said. Sirius gave a little grin and a nod to Remus now that he had the plate of ginger leaves.

Fluffy bowed once more. Sirius nodded at Remus and began to head out of the kitchen. He noticed Remus hadn’t touched the ginger yet. “Well, are you going to eat it?” he asked. “Or do you need me to feed it to you like a little baby?” he asked with a snicker as he joked.

“Jeez Remus, I was only messing around,” laughed Sirius. There was something so cute about Remus getting flushed the way he just did.

“Because, I said it with a laugh. Obviously I’m not going to feed you. Seems like you gobbled up that ginger really fast,” chuckled Sirius. “How’s your stomach now, better?” he asked.

“Maybe you should lie down,” suggested Sirius. “Come, let’s get you to the common room. I bet it’s empty since everyone’s still in class.”

Sirius smiled and began to head towards the direction of Gryffindor Tower. They eventually reached the portrait of the Fat Lady. “Password?” she asked the two boys. Sirius widened his eyes and looked to Remus. “I forgot it” he whispered. “Do you remember it?”

“Thanks Remus,” said Sirius with a smile, glad that the other Gryffindor remembered the password. As they entered the common room, as expected, it was completely empty. They had it all to themselves.

Remus headed to a couch and lied down, sighing softly. It did feel better to be alone. Well, alone with Sirius.

Sirius headed over to an arm chair next to the couch that Remus had laid down on. He looked around at the cozy but empty common room and smiled. “Don’t get me wrong I love people, but it is rather nice when it’s peaceful in here,” he commented.

“They’re not so bad. People are fun,” said Sirius with a grin. “Sure a lotta people suck- like Slytherins. But there’s lots of good people too, like James and Peter. And of course you,” he said to Remus.

Remus sighed. “I… I know people don’t suck. It’s just loud. So many conversations and their footsteps or their quills. And they’re also sitting so close so you can almost feel them. Don’t you find that… overwhelming?”

“Err no, not really. I don’t even feel all that so much,” shrugged Sirius. Remus seemed oddly hyper sensitive. “It’s good to be surrounded by good people in my opinion. There’s a lot of good lads and lasses here in Gryffindor.”
