“I told you! My dad is a genius. He taught me all of his tricks and let me experiment to add my own.”

Remus sighed. He couldn’t tell Sirius. He couldn’t tell Sirius. He was crazy. “Yeah. I just… I don’t feel well, mate. I think I need a lie down.”

“Maybe he is,” chuckled Lily. “I guess I’ll put more faith in you and your father’s methods for the next time.”

“Alright then Remus, I’ll come with,” said Sirius, buying Lupin’s excuse. “Are you going to head back to the common room?” he asked him.

“Alright, don’t get too cocky Potter. I’ll be keeping my eye on you,” said Lily.

“Come on then, let’s go. Maybe we can find you some ginger ale. That always helps when my stomach feels funny,” said Sirius, wanting to be able to help Remus. He didn’t know the truth.

“I’ll be content with the passing grade for now, Potter,” said Lily. Sure James was a bit silly but maybe he wasn’t that bad. She wasn’t so sure if this made them friends now. It was going to be hard to be friends with a silly boy that wasn’t Severus. Severus in her mind wasn’t stupid like most boys.

“Ginger ale. It’s a muggle drink. Have you not heard of it? My cousin Andromeda showed it to me once. Works wonders on stomach pains,” explained Sirius.

Lily scoffed and rolled her eyes, smiling, “Fine,” she huffed. “Acing.”

“Only water?” Sirius asked with a frown. “Come on, maybe we can go to the kitchen and see if the house elves have some of that ginger ale. It’ll have your stomach feeling better in no time, Remus,” he said with a smile.

James gave her finger guns. “Acing.”

Remus nodded. “Right. Kitchen house elves. Lead the way.”

Lily rolled her eyes, not able to help but smile too. Finger guns- it was so cheesy. Weirdly lovable but so damn cheesy.

Sirius nodded and smiled. He led Remus down to the kitchen. “I don’t really remember you having that much at breakfast,” he said, scratching his chin. “Did that little bit of food give ya tummy issues?” he asked.

James grinned, looking to see how the other students are doing.

“I… have a weak stomach.” He looked at the floor. He didn’t exactly feel like saying he was used to rarely eating.

“It’s alright mate,” replied Sirius with a smile, buying Remus’ excuse. They eventually reached the kitchen and Sirius slowly pushed open the door.

“Probably not,” whispered Sirius. “But the house elves are nice, I’m sure they’ll help us out,” he said with a grin.

Inside, the house elves were already busy preparing lunch, even though it wasn’t going to be for another few hours. The food smelled delicious, but Sirius hoped they had something for Remus’ stomach.

Remus’ stomach turned slightly from all the smells. He was anxious and it was making it hard to consider food.

A few of the house elves then began to notice that two little Gryffindor boys had made their way into the kitchen. One of them hopped down from where he was preparing food and curiously peered at Sirius and Remus. It let out a little gasp, its big blue eyes wide as it laid them upon Lupin. “The little boy is so skinny and frail!” said the elf, poking at Remus’ ribs and stomach. “Come come, you must eat!” said the elf, wanting to guide Remus over to the food. “No no- his stomach hurts. We need something for it, like ginger ale,” said Sirius. “Ginger ale?” asked the house elf curiously. “Fluffy does not know what ginger ale is,” said the house elf, whose name was Fluffy.

“Fluffy says small Gryffindor boy does need to eat!” said the house elf. “You are all skin and bones young one,” said the little elf, poking Remus in the ribs once again. “No no, err, Fluffy. His stomach hurts. No food,” said Sirius. “Fluffy thinks the boy has barely eaten. That can’t possibly be true. The poor boy needs more food,” said Fluffy.

“Why is that, young boy?” Fluffy asked, two big curious blue eyes looking at Remus. Sirius looked over at him too. Now that he thought of it, Remus was rather skinny- overly so. He wasn’t slim and fit like Sirius. Lupin was frail.

“Sick?” Fluffy asked. “Poor boy. Perhaps young Gryffindor must consume more ginger in his diet! Helps the tummy, Fluffy has found,” said the house elf. “Yes which is why we were wondering if you had ginger ale. It’s a- err- muggle drink,” said Sirius. “Oh no, no muggle drinks here young Gryffindor,” replied Fluffy. The house elf quickly scurried away but came back with a stool. Fluffy used the stool to climb up and be eye level with Remus. Fluffy put a hand on the boy’s forehead. “Fluffy sees that the boy is normal temperature,” said the elf. Sirius raised an eyebrow.
