The Lost Angels

The stars had offered humanity a number of opportunities. To seek knowledge, to seek intelligent life, adventure and most importantly, new worlds to become humanity's new sanctuary for survival. By 2070, the world's most brilliant minds had come together and developed the Void Core that allows ships to travel great distances in short periods. With this new invention, humanity began to colonize the nearest solar systems to our own. Thus, beginning our first step in establishing a widespread galactic civilization.

By 2100, the Void Cores have been developed throughout the thirty years of humanity's expansion across the stars. The Cores have been vastly improved over its initial model, now allowing for faster than light travel. This, once again presents an opportunity for human civilization to reach out further systems - to expand outwards into the unknown.

2190, a galactic organization was founded to keep peace and order across all colonized systems. The Allied Systems was established with Earth as its capital. By 2200, it has been said that only 40% of the Milky Way galaxy has been colonized with some worlds have been developed to match Earth's own reputation as an advanced planet.

A hundred years passed and humanity had established a solid foothold in the galaxy, standing out as the sole species that dominated the Milky Way. Yet, as the galactic "empire" grew, Earth's hold on the outer colonies weakened. Horrible decisions were made, each affects the lives of those who resided in the Outer Worlds. In 2280, the Allied Systems began to rule the Outer Worlds with an iron fist, implementing reforms that favored those who lived within the Inner Circle. As such, the seeds of hatred between the people of the Outer Worlds grew and blossomed.

In 2300, by the time the Outer Worlds grew more distant and effectively independent due to the lack of support received from the Inner Circle, they gradually grew more stronger and even formed secret alliances between the systems that were oppressed by the Inner Circle. It was freedom that binds them together and it was freedom that would become their sole reason to stand up against the oppressors.

No one knew who started the war Splinter Wars. Was it the newly formed Alliance of the Outworlds or was it the Order of the Inner Circle? No one knows for sure but it was certain that this is the bloodiest war that humanity has ever experienced. Many worlds were bombarded from orbit, large areas were filled with the wreckage of ships and men, cities were burnt to the ground and yet, the fight goes on.

The Alliance of the Outworlds
The Alliance is an interstellar resistance group comprised of different star systems that are located far from the Inner Circle. They are formerly known as the Outer Worlds prior to their formal defection and the eventual outbreak of the devastating civil war that ravaged most of human civilization. Civilians, criminals, former Inner Circle military and others have risen against the oppressive rule of their Inner Circle brethren.

The reason why the planets within the designated "Outworld" regions are exploited is because of the availability of energy resistant metal known simply as Chrysellion Steel. It is also sturdier than most standard issue metal used when manufacturing mechanized units and ships. Planets such as Sparatus and Argosin are prime examples of a world being transformed to mass produce ships or machines made out of these precious resources.

Its military aren't as organized as their Inner Circle counterpart due to the diverse amount of independent-minded system-states that allied themselves to fight against the Inner Circle. Despite this however, they make it up for their technological prowess and the easy accessibility to the aforementioned Chrysellion Steel have made them a formidable foe. Much of their tech are similar to the Order's own as early raiding attempts on the Inner Circle outposts have allowed them to steal and replicate powerful machines as well as weapons while simultaneously developing their own. The military branch is divided into three main components, the Herculean Corps, the Allied Legions and the Perseus Regiment.

The Order of the Inner Circle
The Order of the Inner Circle is the organization that binds together the star systems located near the Origin System (Solar System). There are at least 32 systems within the Order and are commonly regarded as the richest regions within the galaxy. Much of the interstellar manufacturing companies find their roots here due to the abundance of resources available for these companies to exploit. Prior to the defection of the Outer Worlds, they were governed by the Allied Systems which was then reformed by the time the Splinter Wars began.

The Allied Systems funded expeditions for various companies to search out more habitable worlds while carrying out their own quests to find said planets. This lead to the foundation of the Outer Worlds, colonizing these systems and establishing countless mining and industrial facilities for the sole purpose of exploiting the newfound resource known as Chrysellion Steel. Turns out, it valuable and can only be found in the farther regions of the galaxy. A few decades prior to the beginning of the war, the Allied Systems began implementing reforms that demanded a large portion of these resources to be sent to the Inner Circle while forcefully ordering more of the colonists to engage in heavy work in order to maximise production. This of course, caused a huge gap in the quality of life between the two regions of space.

Militarily, the Inner Circle is a powerful army. Organized much in the same way as the ancient Roman Empire, the Inner Circle arranged its soldiers into several legions. They were disciplined, trained to withstand even the harshest weather conditions and to master their equipment. Although some claimed that they are not as good as the Perseus Regiment of the Alliance, the Order's military were well equipped with state of the art weaponry that relies heavily upon a combination of energy-based and ballistic weapons, encouraging them to always be on the offensive. There are also rumors within the military, regarding the experiments in genetically enhancing one's physical capabilities to create a breed of supersoldiers to rival the Perseus Regiment.

Pilots of the mechanized units in both sides of the war are highly revered for their unquestionable skills in piloting a War God/Collosus. They aren't simply men who are trained specifically to use these large mechs, but they are also flexible, requiring to both act as a capable infantrymen while also as a pilot.

Most of them were given the same equipment as a standard foot soldier in respective sides of the war with a few additions such as the use of a jump pack, several healing shots, lighter armor that emphasizes on mobility and a tactical interface that allowed them to further enhance their capabilities on the field and while inside their mechs.

However, all soldiers of the Inner Circle were trained with the basics of piloting a Collosus, allowing them the ability to switch pilots if the previous one died or is deemed unable to do so. This training is somewhat limited to only operators of the Perseus Regiment, the Herculean Corps and chosen candidates from the Allied Legions. This in turn, made the Outer Worlds have a lower number of pilots but to make up for their lack in numbers, they have created anti-mech weapons such as the Spear of Longinus which is a large railgun that would hurl javelin-like projectiles at supersonic speed as well as a miniature version of it for the foot soldiers to use.

Name: Lydia Crowley
Age: 23
Homeworld: The planet Yugent, pictured below. Part of the Hellian solar system within the Outer Worlds, Yugent gained a name for itself because of the rare mineral growing underneath its lush, earth-like plains. Quantzite, a glowing blue mineral had the unique ability to fuel not only spaceships but small handheld devices called Timeloops. Though these mechanisms could only go as far forward or back as ten minutes and required a lot of Quantzite to work, this opened humanity's eyes to the idea of creating fully functioning time machines someday and soon many pioneers came to the planet's shores. Yugent became like California in the days of the Gold Rush, with inventors, miners, and engineers being the prime immigrants and manufacturers, merchants and adventurers close behind. With the population growing and an influx of wealth growing among the citizens, it wasn't long before the Inner Circle tried to monopolize the Quantzite and all trade between the small planet. However, the people living on Yugent had become strongly independent. They wanted to live their lives free from outside control and made this well-known to the Inner Circle. They burned high-class cruisers and all military transporters, raising a makeshift army which soon managed to gain professional prestige thanks to a seasoned general named Cleff Darmony. Thanks to their Quantzite weapons they were able to gain an advantage, but were promptly wiped out after a mysterious battle with the alleged Inner Circle's military forces. Truthfully, no one really knows what happened to Yugent's army, since no bodies were found anywhere and all the forces disappeared without a trace. The Inner Circle didn't hesitate to take advantage of this though and quickly dispatched its many armies onto the planet. The first thing those armies did was destroy the entries to all Quantzite mine shafts, along with the complicated vehicles and materials needed to gather the mineral. They then disposed of all vehicles, making every person from then on register their spacecraft through the military and control exactly what came in and out of the planet. This meant that the once industrial planet became a meagre agricultural society, with only skeletal remains of their once proud cities as a memory of what used to be.

The ecology is quite similar to earth's, as there are certain areas where thick vegetation grows in rainforests and others where the wind is the only force propelling miles and miles of plain grass. It has a rainy season and a dry season, but no snow ever falls there. Strangely, there aren't many wild animals found, and there are rumours that contact with the Quantzite evaporated most of them. All that is really evident are some poisonous beetles called Bleets, a bright blue starling-like bird called Dewdrop, and a tree-climbing, lynx-like predator called Snyde. Apparently, Snydes only eat Dewdrops, but they have been known to group together and hunt after human flesh occasionally. There are only a few places where water grows in large bodies, and these places tend to be either in the northern or southern hemisphere.

The technology of the planet is basically steampunk-level, as the Inner World is purposefully trying to keep them from any advancement. However, there are some hover-propulsive mechanics in place, and highly advanced heating and cooling systems as well. Hoverboards and landspeeders are the main forms of travel and use a dirty coal-like material called Etze to operate. Publically funded schools and universities are in use, but it is not mandatory to send your child there. Since the military demands high pensions from landowners, many times children are kept at home to assist in hard farming. As a result, the average intelligence levels of the planet are 10th grade or lower.

There aren't many castes in Yugent society, just rich farmers, slightly less rich farmers and dirt poor beggars. Of course, outside traders and merchants could be considered the bourgeoisie of Yugent, since any travelling Inner World trader, merchant, or commoner is treated with more respect and consideration than any citizen of Yugent. If a Yugenian so much as glared at an Inner Worlder, they could be chained up and transported off the planet for severe judgment from an Inner World court. This has led many a Yugenian to attempt revolting from their oppressors, but since both transportation and weapons are in the hands of the military, there is no real way to fight back.
Personality: She is a rather serious and practical individual, who doesn’t wish to spend her time on useless pursuits. Because of this, even though she dislikes it, she focuses a majority of her time on studying complicated math, sciences, and coding. She has a very dry sense of humour and may find some topics funny which others do not. However, she doesn’t like to laugh, talk rapidly, or even cry out a lot; as she considers these outward signs of emotions also symbols of mental weakness. Because of this her reactions to the others around her is one of a reserved and calm disposition, no matter what the topic of conversation. In a fight or whilst working she is entirely focused on the task at hand and will ignore everyone around her in the sole goal of eliminating the problem before her.
Skills: Learning about all useful fields of information, enforcing her skills on spaceships, and trying to invent different items out of random materials. Per Mare, Per Terras, Per Constellatum.
Backstory/Brief History:
Lydia grew up on the planet Yugent, and particularly on her parents' albernain farm, an advanced version of past Earthen grain farms. Her childhood was filled with wonder, exploration, and hard work, for though the earth had become entirely uninhabitable, the same toils and troubles of working with nature were present on their farm as well. Lydia started learning how to tend crops by the time she was 6, and four years later, joined her parents and older sister in working full-time in the fields. In her spare moments, she would spend time trying to understand the workings of machines around her. While her sister Genny was enwrapped in their mother's books, Lydia would spend hours tinkering with farm machines with her father.

Though she loved living with her parents, she soon realized that this life wasn't the one for her. She wanted to create things out of metal and wires, things that would wow all those around her. However, here at Yugent, all those that showed even the tiniest percentage of inventive prowess were instantly transported out by the military. After a couple more years of frustrated living on the farm, and hiding all her inventions in the basement of their house, her sister sent her a coded transmission. Decoding the message, Lydia soon found out that Genny had found a rebellious force that held true power against the Inner World. While her sister was among the Inner World herself, training to be a doctor, she gave Lydia enough information and motive to join the rebellion. Using one of her inventions, lighters that could expand into flaming swords, she managed to fight her way past guards and steal a starship. She then found her way to the Allied Legion and signed up as a recruit.

This looks like a fantastic game! I would love to join.

A few minor questions to add!

Do we post our CS here or in the char section(when it's completed)?

What is the posting requirements and frequency?

What branch will our characters be in or will they be starting out as recruits to be assigned to a branch?
