History: Originally, Santoris was nothing more than an island full of people and pokemon alike who were living in a natural oasis. The four islands that made up Santoris, Athenia, Mykora, Pythenia and Delphia each had their own specialties. The islands would trade with one and other, each one having its own leader to look over trading. It was calm and peaceful and it was the way the Santorians liked it. As most paradises though, this one was destroyed by the evil known as human greed. Five hundred years ago, vikings heard of the land that lay atop crystal blue waters with rare pokemon for miles and miles. They trapped the Pokemon for themselves, destroying the wildlife and cities along with it, it was the perfect coup. With separate islands, Santoris didn't have enough people to fight back and none of them were trained in fighting considering how far they were from other colonies. All was lost, all of the humans' hardwork and the pokemons' habitat were being burned to the ground as the vikings searched for the ultimate treasure. But then, as if out of thin air, the sky began to glow and there appeared none other than Celebi with the legendary beasts by its side. They quickly took charge of the situation until the vikings ran away with their tails in between their legs. Much like the ancient Greeks, Santorians worship Gods and after the pokemon saved their land, Santorians quickly turned to Celebi and the beasts as their guardian angels. No one knows exactly why Celebi saved the islands of Santoris that day, but the citizens were eternally grateful and showed their gratitude by building statues of each of their saviors; Entei on Athenia, Raikou on Mykora, Suicune on Pythiana and Celebi on Delphia. As thanks to these legendary pokemon, the leaders of each island vowed to all come together every fifty years and hold a festival in their honor.
The Islands: Each island has their own specialty and reasons for tourist visits, of course some draw more people than others, but each island has their own charm and with quick bridges to connect them all, it makes Santoris a great place for anyone to visit!
Team Eclipse: The international team has kept relatively under the radar since their founding, and that's because they have one main goal. One of the founding members is a descendant from the vikings who ransacked the land and grew up on legends of their ancestors. Of course, this led to an incredible drive to make his ancestors proud. With nothing more than a map from five hundred years ago, Alec Errington set off to college in the Santoris region to learn all he could about his ancestors and what they were after. It wasn't until a mythology class that he realized just what it was he was searching for. The problem was, the vikings didn't know they needed to invade the land during the lunar eclipse (hence the team name) and so they never found what it was they were after. After meeting more people who understood the magnitude of finding this treasure, Alec created Team Eclipse to prepare for the next Lunar Eclipse which just so happens to be taking place during this year's festival. Team Eclipse knows how to obtain what they want, and they need Celebi to take them back in time to before Santoris was built upon and was busy and full.
The Worship Festival: Held every fifty years, this festival is to show the Santorians' everlasting gratitude towards the pokemon who saved their islands when they thought all hope was lost. Since its start, the events have gotten bigger and grown more popular, but at the heart of it all, it remains a festival to honor and thank the Gods who protected their home. Athenia is home to the Pokemon scavenger hunt, hosted by none other than Professor Cypress herself. Mykora hosts the pokemon contest, while Pythiana is in charge of the Pokemon Championship. On the final day of the festival, everyone makes their way to Delphia for the festival's main event: a concert to raise money for the offering to the Gods that night. Once the concert is over, the ending act offers the first gift and then anyone else who has something to offer tosses it into the fire in front of Celebi's statue.
The Islands: Each island has their own specialty and reasons for tourist visits, of course some draw more people than others, but each island has their own charm and with quick bridges to connect them all, it makes Santoris a great place for anyone to visit!
- Athenia: The home of Entei's statue, inscribed on it is 'God of the Burning Flame'. Athenia is home to many different climates for it being a rather small island, this is due to the Pokemon laboratory run by Professor Cypress. Cypress is a middle aged woman who is obsessed with the legend of Celebi. She can usually be seen walking the islands looking for any sort of hints or remnants of the legendary pokemon that were once in Santoris. On Athenia she uses her own personal Pokemon to change the climates and see if they draw out the legendaries. Of course, she hasn't been successful in her task, so mainly she just helps young trainers get their journey started. As for tourism, most people come in hopes of catching different types of pokemon quickly in the same area. This, of course, comes to a head during the Pokemon Scavenger Hunt. Setting out to catch a Pokemon of every type, many trainers come for the challenge it presents.
- Mykora: The home of Raikou's statue with the inscription 'God of the Stormy Skies'. Along with the statue, Mykora holds one of the worlds biggest contest halls that has been used for International Grand Festivals many times. As part of the Worship Festival, a contest is held in the legendary beasts' honor and the winner receives a medallion with the water, fire and electric markings that is hand crafted by local craftsmen each year so they are all unique.
- Pythiana: The home of Suicune's statue which is inscribed with 'God of the Cleansing Rain'. Pythiana is probably the biggest tourist destination year round simply due to its natural freshwater springs that have become so popular. People and Pokemon alike can relax and rejuvenate in the water that is said to have been purified by Suicune during its saving of the islands, and that alone is enough to get them there. Pythiana is also the host of The Worship Festival's Pokemon World Cup, it's a bracket system that leads up to the final battle at midnight of the anniversary of the saviors arrival in Santoris. The champion of the World Cup is then presented with a glass blown trinket made from water said to be purified by Suicune.
- Delphia: Finally, we have the home of Celebi's statue which holds the endearing inscription 'God of Santoris' Time'. On Delphia the architecture is much more historical than the other islands, it is the capital of Santoris after all and because of this, Delphia's citizens have chosen to hold onto traditional architecture and art. There are museums and small shops for all kinds of people as well as local restaurants for tourists to enjoy. The gardens of Delphia are also a hot spot for tourists and Santorians alike, this is where Celebi's statue is and also serves as a beacon for Pokemon of all types who are looking for a safe haven.
