The Last Standing
[This story will take place years after the anime.] Quinx and one-eyed ghouls have been seen as a threat no matter what they achieved and did for society, trying to make it a better place. However none of that effort was taken into account, the CCG continuing to wipe out the entire species called: ghoul. Their strong will pushed them forward and they managed to nearly succeed in their mission. Two percent of the entire population [ghouls] in Japan survived the ‘cleaning’ and are hiding from the CCG’s sight at all cost, avoiding to be caught with the necessary planning. They lived in constant fear about being killed, about their family being killed or what was worse: being locked up in the ghoul detention centre.
Both one-eyed ghouls ceased to exist as they were the first ones on the CCG’s priority list, having been shown no mercy and slaughtered on the spot. It kept on going like this for years, 11 in total until they came to this point. Because of the more relaxed mind-set the CCG started to have due to the serious decline of murders [by ghouls], they didn’t put searching for them on their priority list anymore, only chasing whenever they could spot them or had a good amount of information about their target.
A lot of the members of the CCG quit, more than half going on retirement with the permission of the government, others went to find a different job. The CCG didn’t stop to exist however as some still believed that it wasn’t over yet. And they were right.
A group of ghouls stood up again in the shadows, planning their revenge on those who killed off their comrades, family, loved ones, … Having gathered into one place, being guided by their own view of justice. They weren’t going to stop until humans realized that they were there to protect the remaining ghouls no matter what. They named themselves: Kiseki [Miracle].

Ghoul
# An evil spirit or phantom, especially one supposed to rob graves and feed on dead bodies.
# A person morbidly interested in death or disaster.
Ghouls [喰種, guru, translates approximately to eater species] are a carnivorous and cannibalistic species that is only able to feed on humans and other ghouls. They are as close to humans as possible. They normally have the same physical appearance and intelligence as a human with the exception of diet, mentality and inner biology. If certain rare conditions are met, ghouls and humans may even be able to have offspring - however it is rare – and a ghoul’s organs can be successfully transplanted into a human. Due to their feeding habits however, ghouls are prosecuted by the CCG.
Ghoul Eating Habits
Besides water and coffee, a ghoul can only feed on humans and other ghouls. They are unable to digest any other type of food due to a particular enzyme their bodies produce. The structure of their tongues are also different from humans’, making other foods taste disgusting and uncomfortable. If a human were to have a Ghouls organ transferred into their own body, this would be quite a shock.
If ghouls try to eat normal food, they will be struck by a powerful urge to vomit. When force or forcing themselves to digest such food, it will degrade their physical condition. Ghouls don’t need to eat in the short term like humans do. They can survive for one or two months just feeding on one body. However, some ghouls eat merely for pleasure.
When a ghoul enters an extreme state of hunger, they will suffer very painful headaches and lose all reason, causing them to become driven by instinct alone. They will feed on any available source of human meat to end this state, even that of a close friend.
Although ghouls can go up to two months without human flesh, some ghouls can feed on more than eleven people in just a few days. This is known as ‘binge eating’, a habit sustained by some, however this declined seriously in the past years.
CCG
The Commission of Counter Ghoul [abbreviation CCG, Japanese 喰種対策局 Ghoul Countermeasures Bureau] is a federal agency that serves as a criminal investigative body in cases connected to ghouls. The Ghoul Countermeasures Laz is the legal foundation for CCG’s prosecution of ghouls. CCG’s headquarters are in the 1st ward.
The ghouls commonly call the ghoul investigators Doves, a nickname that originates from CCG’s seal.
Ghoul Investigators employed at CCG’s main office, carry out the actual investigations and capture suspects. They are often assigned to carry out investigations in one of Tokyo’s wars. Only ghoul investigators are permitted to be armed with quinques. Bureau Investigators deal mostly with paperwork and back up ghoul investigators when necessary. They are armed with firearms loaded with Q bullets.
