  A loud rumbling shakes you awake. Groaning, your gaze darts over to the digital alarm clock sitting on the table beside your bed. 2:00 am. You sit up and rub at your eyes before slowly sliding out of bed just as another explosion emits a loud noise and bright glow through your apartment window. What on earth’s going on?, you wonder as you push back your curtains. There’s a lot of screaming people running around while dogs bark frantically and helicopters fly over the city. Last night you were watching the local news to fall asleep to but the anchor’s once monotone and lulling voice is now urgently repeating the same message over and over:
  
  “Please stay indoors. Law enforcement and emergency services are in the area and will be in contact with further instructions. Please stay indoors. Law enforcement and emergency services...”
  
  This weird message is what really freaks you out. That’s when your doorbell rings and you rush over to your apartment door and throw it open.
  
  “Did you hear the news? Something’s going on...” you trail off when you notice your neighbor, Ms. Marley, looks a lot more tired than usual. Her eyes have this glazed-over look and you ask if she’s okay. She looks at you as something seems to change in her facial expression. Something primal takes over as she suddenly lunges at you.

The two girls were raised by their mother until she too fell prey to an attack and Sera was left to take care of her younger sister.

tThis is a awesome idea and on the subject I doubt anyone here would survive. The virus spreads through South American exports including most fruits, chocolate and coffee beans so majority of America and powerful countries are gonna get annihilated

Yep. The concept genuinely scared me when I stopped to think about what would happen if something like this actually happened.
But in this rp we're gonna assume only 60% of the US's population died initially before the fungus started to really spread, like in the game.
Btw just for funsies, here's some things I found about cordyceps:
Ik some people use it as a medicinal mushroom but I would never ingest this bc of the game lol
