In the future, the government has made it mandatory for each of it's citizens to have a chip implanted into their brains. This chip monitors the body, and mind through a newly developed Mind Matrix Monitor wave, or 3-M for short. This 3-M chip sends distress signals, to you local medical treatment center, so if your body is aware of anything trying to harm you, your doctor is the first person to know. However, the waves that transmit the brain waves have a habit of crossing, and becoming attached to other 3-M waves.
Once two waves clash and merge, they stay that way forever, and once a chip member falls asleep, their dreams become connected. The chip acts as a catalyst, and almost forces the user to dream. Once in this dream world, with whomever else ended up in your dream realm, you must survive the terrors, and nightmares each of you have, that are usually mashed up together. Once you fall asleep you enter, and almost digital chatroom with the other guests, and if you miss the exit out of this room, you are instantly killed by the chip exploding. Since the chip monitors your body and brain activity, if you dream that you die, than the chip reacts accordingly.
Once the chip registers it's user as dead, it explodes, so that it may not be harvested for illegal harvesting. To keep yourself alive, you must deal with your fears, your best dreams, and the other dreams surrounding you, do your best, and try to wake up in the morning.
Whatever the dreamers agree on before entering the dream world.
