Within the Depths of a Dream
The Lab
The story goes as follows: The characters are outcasts of sorts. They either don’t agree with the factions that exist or were exiled for whatever reason. Because of that, they have banded up with a bunch of the other PCs to try and band up with and create Exodus. A fledgling faction with the goal of eventually escaping the island and possibly getting revenge on the scientists that condemned them. At the moment, rarely any of the other factions take them seriously enough to consider them anything more than a band of outcasts so you’re going to have to work to change that.

FAQIs X ability okay?
Tag me in the OOC thread, discord server, or even the PM me on either the site or discord to double check because I would hate for you to make a CS with something I’m not a fan of/allowing.

How many characters can we make?
At this time, 2. I might increase the limit should there be an need for it.

What style of image?
I prefer illustrations, but real photos if you can’t find anything else. No anime. Images are not required.

Why do characters need to be 18+?
Because I don’t want children in my roleplay. That makes things difficult and potentially awkward as I was once in a roleplay where there was a relationship between a 14 year old male and a 24 year old female. Never again. As a side note, try to stick to 21+ as it’s going to be pretty boring and undiverse if everyone is in the 19-22 range. Brownie points for 26+ as we never really see older characters in this type of situation.

Can experiments be duplicated?
Sure? Not exactly, obviously. But if someone was given wolf ears and you want to take it a step further with a tail, claws, the whole shebang, go for it.

Can I play a character in another faction?
As of right now, no. This may change later on but for now all characters must be in Exodus.

Do our characters remember their previous lives?
100% unless something affected their memory.

Can I make a shapeshifter?
My general rule for shape shifting is that it can only be one other form. If an animal, it must exist and not be extinct, another person is sketchy, that'll need to be discussed. Something else aside from those two... gotta tell me what you're aiming for.

What if I can’t science BS this experiment?
There’s a way, just let me know and I’ll give you something. This doesn’t require research, just imagination.

Character SheetI don’t require tons of BBCode, but make it legible. If you aren’t going to code much of it, all I ask are for images (if you have them) to be links and some bolding so I can read between the fields and what you filled in.

Keep in mind when I look sheets over, I am not going to sugarcoat problems I find. If you give me something unrealistic or even worse, a mary sue, you better hold onto your hat.

Date: 2 yrs.
Description: Subject is able to visualize and auralize radiation beyond the visible light spectrum.
Initial Reaction: Subject regarded initial discovery of powers as 'light sensitivity' and 'brain damage'. Background in engineering eventually allowed the subject to deduce that he was seeing beyond the spectrum after several experiments involving animal urine and a tarp.

[div class=fyuriheader] Powers and Weaknesses[/div]
Hal is able to see beyond the visible light spectrum into shorter and longer wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. However, he has synesthesia. Because of this, he sees the world in different ways:

Strengths:

  • Hal can see everything on the electromagnetic spectrum. However, shorter wavelengths - such as ultraviolet, x-rays, and gamma rays - tend to be 'noisier' to him and are incredibly overwhelming. While ultraviolet radiation doesn't have extremely short wavelengths in reference to gamma radiation, extreme sources of ultraviolet radiation such as the sun are incredibly disconcerting to him, and he goes to great lengths to avoid them, choosing to blind himself completely in the daylight in order to avoid overstimulation. He can see nearly perfectly in absolute darkness due to his ability to see infrared.
  • Hal can detect sources of radiation from fairly far away.
  • Hal can interpret unencrypted radio waves.

Weaknesses:

  • Hal synesthizes visuals auditorily. Colors toward the 'red' end of the electromagnetic spectrum (with shorter wavelengths) are quieter, while colors toward the 'violet' end of the spectrum (with longer wavelengths) are louder.
  • Hal synesthizes sound gustatorily. This isn't a power; it's a result of his synesthesia and can lead to overstimulation if there is too loud of a sound. Due to this, certain sounds make him nauseous due to the flavor of them, such as loud, startling noises and incredibly high-pitched noises.
  • Hal cannot process large sources of shorter wavelengths properly. While he can be well aware that they're there, processing anything with that short of a wavelength is prone to give him migraines and disassociation, due to how 'loud' they are.

Hal processes smell and feeling normally. While he experiences visuals auditorily and sound gustatorily, he can still hear and taste; his synesthesia is 'in addition' to his normal senses.

[div class=fyuriheader] Personality[/div]
Because of his synesthesia, Hal views the world a little differently. He collects phosphor-emitting items such as talc, rock salt, and quartz. He likes the chlorophyll in green plants, because they re-emit ultraviolet light as quieter visible light. He isn't afraid of blood, because it stops the noise and sounds like slow bass. Being underwater quiets the radio waves, but those don't bother him as much as the sun does. He hates loud, sudden, and high-pitched noises, because they taste like vomit. The sound of low humming tastes like honey, and the sound of static helps him deal with overstimulation.

However, Hal isn't his disability. Beyond his overstimulation and synesthesia, he attempts to be kind and patient. He's well aware that he can't expect people to understand what his condition entails. He isn't beyond frustration, of course, and having someone continually scream in his ear while he's already being lambasted by overstimulation from his synesthesia is a good way to get him to snap, but adulthood had gradually brought him the ability to remain patient even in frustrating situations.

[div class=fyuriheader] Biography[/div]
History: Before coming to the island, Halil was a "normal" synesthete. For the most part, his affliction didn't affect his everyday life; sure, there was some overstimulation here and there, but didn't everyone have that? Of course, not everyone thought that gunshots tasted like vomit and high pitched voices like wasabi. Not everyone heard colors (though his favorite was red, since violet just sounds like whining). Still, it made life eventful, and it always made for an interesting conversation piece.

He was twenty six and a barista. A coffee shop wasn't where he had wanted to stay; honestly, he wanted to work in a factory. Engineering. Designing machines. Listening to the pleasant whirr of them while other people did the 'hard' work, and stepping in on occasion to fix mistakes. Tampering with metal. Metal. Metal was the only high sound he could tolerate, strangely enough. It tasted like ... red meat. Was that because of the iron? Well, he wanted to be an engineer, but if that fell through he'd always liked marine biology. Of course, he was old enough toward where 'falling through' wasn't an option. Close to a degree stretched out by years of part time work to keep himself afloat, he was living check to check.

Then, it happened. By luck or consequence, he was taken. Shoved into a van like the rest of them. Maybe they had gotten his not-so-confidential psychiatric reports from his therapist, maybe one of them just caught wind of it. Not like he kept it a secret; it was a good way to keep a conversation interesting when his charisma failed to work. Then, just like the rest of them, he was experimented on. He didn't remember most of it, but apparently his synesthesia made for a good basis for 'expanding' his range of vision. Something about already being able to interpret sensory information in non-restrictive ways. In his opinion, it just made it worse.

Reasoning: Starting on the island was rough. At first, he was taken kindly into Haven, but didn't particularly fit in even amongst those people. He favored the night and rain, knowing well how difficult direct sunlight was to deal with for the synesthete. He favored the ocean for its diffusive and static properties, attempting to find any source in which to hide himself from the oppressive ultraviolet of the sun, spending more and more time away from the friendly faction until returning had been of little use to him. Well, that and the radiation.

The Order was his next choice. Of course, they were a little stuck up, but he didn't mind being quiet, especially due to the protection that their facilities had provided. In return for offering to assist The Order in finding fuel sources to power their high-tech facilities, he was able to stay and hone his powers, but once again, his eccentricities came through. Particularly on one day, where he had informed the Archmage of the Order that his voice had tasted like anchovies.

Looking back on it, it was short-lived. Thrust out of The Order, Hal had begun to hate his new life and powers; the only thing that they had provided to him was a way to live. Feeding on chlorophyllic plants and growing his own phosphor-ridden ones as well as identifying different herbal life by their radioactive signature, he was able to use his powers to survive. Still,
he kept the idea in the back of his mind of escape. He found a like-minded group of people; The Exodus.

Distinguishing Features: Her eyes
General Description: Brook has a rather thin, small frame with an expected amount of body mass to match. Despite this she tends to try and hold herself a bit taller as if trying to create the illusion that there is more of her than there really is.
[div class=stoneHeader]Experiment[/div]ID: 654150
Date: Just placed on the island
Description: Subject was carefully treated with the DNA of various aquatic organisms to allow them the use of a biologically sound fin, gills, as well as light sensitivity so they are not blinded at extreme depths.
Strengths: - She can swim extremely well and breath underwater.
- Rather acute night vision
- Slightly increased muscle mass in her legs causes her to sprint reasonably fast on land.
Weaknesses: - Can only remain on land 12 hours before needing to return to a body of water.
- Is sensitive to light
- Forming and unforming a brand new appendage you're not supposed to have is a bitch
Response: The subject has yet to awaken on the island. We are awaiting to record initial responses.
[div class=stoneHeader]Personal[/div]Likes: - Physical activity, fruit, jokes, being heard.
Dislikes: Sitting still for long periods of time, being ignored, being alone
Personality: Brooklyn is a social butterfly. The loud woman loves being around others, joking, laughing, carrying on even if the topic of discussion isn't the best one to joke about. She thrives off of social interaction and being around others, quick to become lost and confused without someone beside her.
Reasoning: Right place, right time.
History: Brook was alone for most of her childhood. Growing up with her single aunt after her mother gave her up, the woman was constantly busy. Unable to give the small child much more than the bare minimum attention she needed. This continued for quite awhile, the girl longing for any type of social interaction and even spending hours after school with teachers and friends' houses to try and fill the gap.

Eventually she did move on, go to college and work towards a degree, though as she applied to the college late, she never got a roommate. Most freshman would've been thrilled by this, but Brook was more mortified. It grated on her, being alone for such an extended period of time. This along with the stress that school was having on her, not being all that academically gifted, she was thrown into a depressive state rather quickly.

Graduating and on the last few of her frayed nerves, she managed to find an ad for a roommate in the city. This was perfect! Just want she needed. Thankfully the woman who had posted the ad was just around her age and more than friendly, allowing them to easily work out a deal and for Brook to move in soon after.

This arrangement did wonders to improve her mental and social health. The two women forming quite the friendship and then something more.

It was 5 years after they had met that this unfortunate section had occurred. Brook being nabbed off of the street near her home and tossed into the back of the van where the experimentation and island awaited.[/div][/div]

BASICS
Name: Bethany Carter
Nickname: "Beth", "Fuse", "Pinecone"
Age: 24
Gender: female
Sexuality: bisexual

APPEARANCE
Height: 6 feet
Weight: 168 lbs
Hair: thick auburn hair, rather messy and kept on the shorter side
Eyes: round and of a hazel hue
Build: Beth's build is on the boyish side with toned limbs and a round features. She carries herself in a pretty slack way and hunches occasionally, mostly when conversing with people that are shorter than her
Distinguishing Features: Her body is covered in hardened scales of varying sizes, with her back, parts of her face and limbs being the areas affected the most. They're smooth and slick and are of a bronze color. Where they melt into human skin is usually of a lighter hue than her somewhat tan complexion.
General Description: Beth could best be described as a tomboy. She is not overly feminine and her keeping her hair short doesn't really help either. Her skin is rather tan and coupled with the other brown tones of her eyes and hair, beth doesn't really stick out all that much from a crowd, her height being the only thing that actually catches people's attention.

EXPERIMENT
ID: 912659
Date: eighty-one days
Description: Beth's body was infused with reptilian DNA and has been altered with several genes from combusting insects. It lowered her body temperature by a few degrees and strengthened her muscle tissue, but most importantly it altered her epidermis.
Her skin now not only sheds but also grows hardened scales all over her body.
They might not look like much, being rounded bumps on her skin of a bronze glow, but they serve a special function where they can absorb heat and store it in them. Be it from her environment or her body, they grow radiant with warmth and start to glow a faint orange when overheated...Only to combust, turning Beth into a human-reptilian grenade, with the effect ranging from just a simple heat wave to actual shrapnel explosions that leave her skin all blistered and force her to shed it.

Strengths:
-Beth is physically fit and her hardened skin makes her pretty resilient to attacks
-Her skin can store warmth, making her able to stay warm in almost any environment and serve as a nifty heat source for friends
-There's quite a lot of offensive uses for her powers, be it numbing heat surges or actual explosive combustions

Weaknesses:
-Beth is not entirely in control of her powers and emotional reaction like embarrassment that makes her heat up can cause involuntary combustion
-Excessive usage of her powers dehydrates her and makes her skin all itchy, leaving her incapable of even thinking straight
-Her sense of touch isn't as good anymore from constantly shedding her skin
-Susceptible to extreme heat due to the volatile nature of her mutation

Response: Bethany was extremely irritable after the changes manifested, leaving her body in a constant state of heating up and cooling down as it tried to adjust to its new epidermis. Even after recovering, drowsiness and phases of extreme sensations of cold were commonplace, with time her condition stabilized though and she started to get accustomed to constantly radiating heat.

PERSONAL
Likes:
+Sports
+Music
+Animals
+Sweets
+Pop culture references

Dislikes:
-Cold
-Jerks
-Scary stories
-Being put under pressure

Personality:
Bethany, despite of her appearance, is a rather timid person that tries to get along with everyone. Almost comically so as she apologizes constantly for any inconvenience she might cause others and prefers to ask for permission rather than for forgiveness.
She's very caring and affectionate and greatly enjoys the presence of others as she gets excited easily over other people's experiences and stories.
Beth enjoys the simpler things in life and can be prone to slacking off and procrastinating. But if she's invested in something, may the gods stand you by, as she'd either never shuts up about that particular topic or won't stop until she's achieved her goal.

Reasoning: She does not want to get involved in their quarrels and just wants to go back home since she left so much behind.

History:
Bethany was never one to see herself sit in some office to work a 8 to 5 job, no, she grew up with three other siblings in your typical lazy suburb. Living with so many brothers and sisters under the same roof meant that there was never a quiet moment and that you needed other ways to find some privacy outside of home.
That came with a somewhat excessive schedule of outdoor activities that left Beth exhausted but oh so content.

Be it the girl scouts, the local sports club or simply spending time with her friends, life seemed too good to be true.
And while more and more of her siblings grew up and headed for the big city to follow their dreams of fame and high salaries, Beth would soon find the large family home oh so empty.

But that wasn't something that she would waste any melancholy on as she would soon find her calling as a P.E teacher at the very high school she attended herself.
Slowly but surely the circle of people she'd call friends would grow with so many new faces; be it those from her sport club, old friends and family returning home or all the pets that would come to occupy every corner of her home.

But everything has to come to an end, and being plucked out of heaven and being cast into hell is truly a horrifying experience.

All Bethany remembers is taking a day off to relax from an unusually busy week...and then waking up on a sunny shore.
Disoriented, covered in blasting scales and being left to wonder if it wasn't just some bizarre dream.

But in actuality it was a nightmare, as the many clashing factions of this strange island would be so kind to remind her of.
Too caught up in their own little squabbles, apparently having left their old lives behind, or even preferring this new existence over their mundane ones in human civilization, they could bot be farther from the happy people Beth surrounded herself with at home.

Home.

Most of her thoughts would linger on that place.
The place where she had nothing to worry about other than forgetting packing enough snacks for their bi-monthly camping trips.
And she would make sure to return to attend her younger brother's graduation!

Exodus seemed godsend. A group that shared the desire to return home, working hand in hand to make that dream reality, and who knew, maybe she would be able to add some of these faces to the ever-growing list of friends.

Jonathan Maxi
Alder
24
Male
Asexual

APPEARANCE
6ft
120lbs
Brown/Green
Black
Lean
Alder is quite distinguishable no matter where he is, given his highly unusual appearance.
Due to his unique physical structure, his body actually changes in appearance depending on the situation. In most situations, his skin and hair are green and soft, pliable to the touch, his features completely nonthreatening. It is when endangered that he undergoes a drastic change. His hair and skin becomes stiff and hard like bark, turning brown, even his face turns more angular, more predatory.

He doesn't wear much in the way of clothing aside from a two leg bracers and what amounts to a loin cloth made out of his namesake, Alder wood.

His eyes are completely black and his mouth appears segmented.
EXPERIMENT
ID: 228222
Date: One Year, three months, five days.
Description: Subject physically altered into a Flora-Fauna hybrid through the use of a compound designed to loosen the genetic bindings. Subject capable of gathering and storing energy from sunlight as well as converting that stored energy into a combat state.
Strengths: Can store sunlight as energy within his body. High endurance and stamina as a result.

Can enter combat state, skin and hair harden into natural armor. Aggressive mentality in this state.

With time and plenty of sunlight, subject can fully heal all wounds caused to his body.

Resistant to blunt damage due to the flexibility of his body.

He is somewhat resistant to being harmed by fire. His body is well saturated, slowing the effects of burning.

Weaknesses: Long periods of time without sunlight will weaken him.

Combat State actively uses stored energy in great quantities. Sustained usage can force him into a dormant state unable to defend himself.

Wounds do not passively heal. Requires him to enter dormant state. If not done, he will continue to accumulate damage.

Highly susceptible to slashing weapons in either state.

Ice and cold are far more effective in taking him down. Similar to a lizard, the cold will slow him down. He has to force himself to stay awake when exposed to the cold for too long.

Response: Subject was initially very unhappy about situation, especially as the physical effects began. Attempted to self terminate on multiple occasions. As physical changes were completed, subject began to acclimate to the island. Found the most peace within the large forest located to the west. Mostly solitary, but interacts for trade of cultivated food and tools.

PERSONAL
Likes: Plants, Sunlight, Spring, Butterflies, Botany, Crafting
Dislikes: Fire, Winter, Deserts, Flying,

Personality: Before the experiment, Jonathan was not the most social of people. He simply didn't enjoy going out and doing stuff with other people. Only after his change did he find joy in interacting with other people. He found that he had a lot of changes and while he wasn't entirely comfortable with all of it, he found ways to distract himself. He has gained a new interest in Botany and Crafting various tools from wood and stone. It made him happy that people actually wanted something from him, to trade his items for things he needed.

Overall, he is a rather nice guy. He'll often go out of his way to help those who are traveling through his little neck of the woods and doesn't mind entertaining guests.

It is when he enters his combat state that his personality changes. He becomes far more aggressive, even defensive in the way he acts. He'll fight tooth and nail to protect himself and that which he considers important. It is somewhat akin to having split personalities. He isn't cruel, just harsh in the way he deals with his opponent.

Reasoning: Alder didn't have terrible relations with those of the other factions, and even had trade agreements with those of the Ebonguard, but he wanted a place that was a bit freer. Each faction had their benefits, but each also had their problems. Haven was too soft for him and whenever he encountered any form of danger, he'd enter his combat state and cause problems through his aggressive nature.

The Ebonguard are good for fighting and have a strong unity, but it is that unity that makes them hard to get along with. Until you are 'one' of them, you are pretty much an outsider and treated as much. They accept some of his crafted weapons but they don't seem to accept the gentler side of things.

The Order wasn't a problem for him in all honesty but the modern society motif didn't sit well with him. He'd lived in the modern society and it was that society that was the reason he'd been so antisocial. Not only that, but it was also that society that was the reason he was on the island to begin with.
1401091955767.jpg

The Enlightened seemed more like a modern day cult than a religion to him, but he didn't agree with how reverential they were towards the people who'd done this to them.

When it came to Exodus, he saw the potential good in each of the other factions. If the good could be kept and the bad pushed away, it would form a more whole society. This new society would be better than the one that had put them there in the first place. They needed strong roots to expand out.

History: Jonathan did not have a difficult life, he wasn't bullied or treated badly by family. He simply didn't have a desire to do much. It was more or less a choice that he made. Lack of ambition was his life's greatest problem. It was most likely one of the reasons he'd been snapped up off of the streets. Even once placed on the island, he didn't initially have any ambition. Naturally, he gravitated towards Haven for it's warm welcoming attitude. Then the symptoms of his injections began to take effect. His hair fell out and his skin molted away like a bird's feathers or snake skin. It was an itchy, achy time. He soon found that the only thing that helped his condition was spending time outside in the sun.

Naturally, he had to do his fair share of work. No one was allowed to just loaf around and it suited his needs. He spent time working with plants, getting his hands into the soil and helping to cultivate the food for Haven. Surprisingly, he came to a realization that he actually enjoyed working with plants. Touching them led him to quickly understand what they needed. Even more surprising, he found that he deeply enjoyed burying his feet into the ground and basking in the warm sun.

Six months was all it took for him to fully complete his metamorphosis. Green leafy hair and soft green skin certainly set him apart. In that time, he'd peacefully lived out his time working with plants, spending more and more time outside, to the point that he rarely went indoors anymore. His new body had some resistance to the elements. Sun and rain had become a simple pleasant afternoon for him.

His first interaction with The Order was not a good one. They were all for civilization and modernization, whereas he'd become a bit more attuned to nature and freedom. Their attitude to him wasn't the most pleasant either, they acted threateningly and his body responded in an entirely new way. His thoughts shifted to attacking and crushing his enemy, his mouth became far more foul, snapping with such ferocity one would mistake him for a wild animal.

That sudden change in his personality made him uncomfortable with living with the kind people of Haven. Besides, he quickly found that he enjoyed spending more time in the forests anyway. He also realized that his combat state was more suited to living in the wilds than in a civilization. The realization that there would possibly be others who wanted to hurt him kept him in contact with others, seeking allies as well as a place of refuge should he ever need it.

General Description
The girl's entire wardrobe usually consists of muted colors, although this is mostly because of personal preference. Most of her body's features are sharp, angular, and lithe. Her eyes portray a different light, however, as they appear softer than the rest of her. The girl's hair tends to hang loosely around her shoulders, often unrestrained and unbothered with. With lightly tanned skin, it's obvious she came outdoors a modest amount. With thick lashes and eyebrows, it isn't hard to get drawn to the girl's face. Her tiny face matches her tiny body, and her overall structure makes it seem like a simple flick might cause serious damage. Which, it very well might, being as how frail she now is.

Speaking of her new appearance, she now sports two large, dusty brown wings that generally are folded idly on her back. Talons have also taken the place of her feet, allowing her to better grip things with her talons (although it isn't the greatest for her walking abilities). Her back has some feathers growing from the place her wings are attached, but it isn't clear whether or not they will continue to spread. She also has a few tail feathers that stretch down to the base of her feet, which she likes to keep down there so as not to trip anyone or allow them to be in the way.

EXPERIMENT

ID
219348

Date
Just placed on island

Description
Subject 219348 was given lyrebird DNA, which allowed her mind and throat to be able to mimic and create a much vaster array of vocal noises. The subject's bones also appeared to hollow themselves out, decreasing the subject's weight drastically from that of a normal human because of the characteristics of the DNA. Along with this, the subject was equipped with a large pair of the bird's wings (mixed with other songbirds', so the subject could actually lift off and take flight from the ground) and talons were also attached in place of the subject's feet. The bird's tail that was given to the subject was an accessory to the wings, to give some balance in flight.

Strengths
- Light and agile; her hollow bones make her very light and her wings allow for swift air movement, along with her legs
- Mimicking sounds and creating ones normal humans couldn't produce; has to single out the sound, though, and hear it for long periods of time
- Flight: Those wings aren't just for show, they actually allow Ver to take off from the ground and soar into the air; obviously, though, she'll need some practice before she can even manage that...

Weaknesses
- Fragile; the hollow bones make her very vulnerable, so she has to be careful with her landing and overall physical well-being
- Too much sound can overload her; she gets all confused and becomes paralyzed until she can get the ringing out of her ears
- Her talons make it difficult for her to walk correctly; they aren't like normal feet, so she has a harder time getting around on the ground
- Can't swim well with her wings; they weigh her down and only help her stay up if she flaps them vigorously

PERSONAL

Likes
- The word "pebble" or "crimp"
- Gelatin, sea food, salad
- Smiles, hugs, people...
- Being acknowledged
- snuggles

Dislikes
- Being submerged underwater
- Being completely alone
- Brussel sprouts, tofu, skim milk
- The smell of strong cleaning products

Personality
A very lonely 'songbird', Vermilion finds herself often drawn to people whenever she's feeling down. She may not speak very much, but the very presence of others helps her cheer up a little. Being alone is actually one of her fears, but it ends up happening all too often and she tends to get mopey and withdrawn when it does. It's rare to actually witness her like this, though, as seeing another face tends to make her own brighten. Socially, however, she's not the most versatile. She doesn't often know what to talk about with new people, and is prone to awkward silences when she runs out of ideas.

However, that doesn't mean she lacks determination to try. Her speech may be strange (although, over time, one might start to get a better grasp on it), but her actions are truly where she shines. She is generous to a fault, willingly sacrificing her own well being and resources for others. Her caring attitude also doesn't help, as she becomes overly concerned with others and what they've been doing. As a person, her will isn't very strong and she tends to set her goals low so she doesn't disappoint herself or others. Unmotivated when alone, she is pretty bad at acting independently and struggles to make decisions.

Reasoning
She did just appear on their doorstep, so... Good timing?

History
A floundering college student before being kidnapped, her dream was to become some mediocre chemist and just get through life. Not much of a 'dream', but she figured it was reachable. Even then, though, because of her lack of passion and determination, she ended up caring less and less about the classes she was taking. She began barely passing, reaching an all-time low in motivation. All she cared about was the people who went to college with her and tolerated her, so she often attended parties and ignored school work. That's not to say she actually 'partied' at these parties, she more just found the thrill of everyone else's craze to be intoxicating and it gave her the illusion that everything was 'okay'.

In terms of work, Ver rarely did. Her parents supported her with their nice salaries, and paid for most of her college fees. They did so willingly, and because it always looked like she could never take care of herself. Which wasn't entirely wrong, as the girl did appear helpless when isolated from others. And, in fact, she was. So it was decided that her parents would help her for as long as she needed, or until she found her true calling. They encouraged her wherever they could, but didn't keep very good track of her. She wasn't rich by any means, but she certainly wasn't poor.

As a child, she was spoiled. She got what she wanted, when she wanted it. This caused her to feel listless, as if life had no real meaning. Then, she met him. A curious boy who boldly decided to talk to her while she was messing around in her backyard. From there, she felt a new warmth in her. People were her true passion, but she didn't know how to convey this to her parents. So, as she grew up, her goals were confusing and conflicted. She wanted to work with people however she could, but her parents dictated she pursue a field in science, like them. Thankfully, though, now she doesn't have to worry about that. She can be who she wants to, with this 'fresh start'...

EXPERIMENT
ID:
547698

Description:
Subject has been infused with DNA properties similar to that of a seabird and an eagle, leading to incredibly large wings.

Strengths:
Flight up to great altitudes
Manueverability in the air

Weaknesses:
No manueverability on land
Easily exhausted
Requires more sleep than a normal person.

Response:
Subject discovered them upon waking and responded negatively to the addition.

PERSONAL
Likes:
Sunrise, sunset, birds, crystals, flying, Autumn, Winter, healing
Dislikes: Pain, water, falling, being underground, people who hurt birds, fighting

Personality:
Dresden is extremely shy at first, but warms up to people as she gets to know them better. Because of her shyness she can come off as rude since she'd rather just say a few words than an entire speech and this sometimes gives people the wrong idea. She's actually very kind. The only time she'll get mad is when someone hurts a bird as she's always had a love for them (even before she could grow wings) and while she knows survival means it has to happen, she'd rather it didn't happen in front of her. Dresden is quite the coward as well, opting to run away rather than fight and take up a medicinal path, knowing basic healing remedies using the local flora and supplies, on the highly unlikely chance they wash up on the Island.

Reasoning:
Dresden did try, she really did, to fit into one of the existing factions, but found herself not fitting in for various reasons and eventually decided to live alone, before finding likeminded individuals to form Exodus with.

History: (*)
Before life on the Island, Dresden had lived in a nice modern community, quite happy with her life. She lived with her mother and her father on a farm where they raised chickens, ducks and similar birds, leading to her love for them. She was snatched after wandering off for her evening walk one day and doesn't remember what happened except for waking up on the island.

Having lived on the Island for almost three years, Dresden has certainly had her ups and downs whilst trying to survive and find out if escape was a possibility. Within the period of a year and a half, she had lived with each of the factions before living on her own. First she ended up with the Ebonguard, but didn't last long due to the factions love of caves and her severe dislike of them which led to her leaving them and moving on. Dresden thought about moving onto the Enlightened, but decided against it after hearing many rumors that they worshipped what was done to them and while she didn't mind having wings, she didn't exactly worship having them.

The next faction was the Order, who didn't even let her near them though so she didn't stick around to try and force her way. The final faction, Haven, was Dresden's last chance at living amongst others like her. And she loved living there. They welcomed her despite her past and she lived there for a good year before leaving. During her stay, she developed her strength with all the farming and cultivating they did and she didn't mind their 'thinking about the present' mindset. But eventually, Dresden't desire to escape grew even more and she found herself not able to stay and left to find her way.

After she left, it was a couple of weeks that she discovered Exodus and has loved being with them ever since, since they all share the same desire to hopefully one day return home to their families.

(Closest Depiction)

BASICS

Name: Camilla Dela Torre

Nickname(s): Cammy, Cam

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Homosexual

APPEARANCE

Height:
5’9”

Weight:
139 lbs

Hair:
Neon Purple with Various Colorful Specks

Eyes:
Neon Violet

Build:
Lanky with Minimal Curves

Distinguishing Features:
Subject glows like a neon signage. Her eyes, hair, skin, even teeth all glow. The color is predominantly a shade of purple and violet and has various other colors in the mix.

General Description:
Subject seems to be mostly average in both facial features and body structure, disregarding her glowing like a neon sign. Despite her rather average looks, her unique complexion gives her an otherworldly beauty and appeal. It gives an almost inhuman and alien feel to her and at times she can appear to be more artwork than human. Her hands in particular flare up whenever she generates electric currents.

EXPERIMENT

ID: 572819

Date: 5 Months, 11 Days

Description:
Subject has been granted the bioluminescence found in various jellyfish specie and has also been grafted with the electric organ found in electric eels and rays. Subject is able to send these electric currents to her hands, allowing her to discharge electrical currents that, at their strongest, can knock out a full grown elephant. The Subject is also able to use the electric discharges for electrolocation, allowing her to detect her surroundings and threats that may lie beyond her field of vision.

Strengths:
Subject’s electric discharge gives her an edge in unarmed combat, allowing her to dispatch most enemies who comes too close to her. Her electrolocation is also handy as it essentially gives her a broader view of her surroundings and allows her to avoid incoming threats before they can even come close to her. The electric discharge can also surge across her body, though at lower voltages and can only, at most, sting people who touch her. The bioluminescence also gives her light during the darker periods of the evening. Subject is also able to make the lights flash brightly, making it possible to temporarily disorient enemies.

Weaknesses:
Subject is a glowing, walking beacon of light rendering her useless in stealth and can be seen from a ways away. Her electric discharge are only a their most powerful when sent through her hands and is thus without means of attacking when her hands are bound or otherwise disabled. Using too much voltage in her electrical discharge also takes a toll on the Subject’s body, the higher the voltage the bigger the toll. Her bodily fluids are also all bioluminescent, making it very easy to track her if she does manage to hide especially if wounded.

Response:
Subject had understandably been upset, waking up in the middle of nowhere glowing like a lamp. Still, the Subject had gotten used to it after a while, even finding her new glowing body quite beautiful and has since adjusted to her situation.

PERSONAL

Likes:
Subject appears to really like the way she turned out, especially her bright and colorful visage. The Subject also appears to have taken a liking to art prior to being experimented on, making the transition easier than what it could have been. Subject is also fond of nighttime, dark places, or any moments when darkness takes over since her luminescence becomes more apparent and beautiful. She also appears to be fond of taking a swim every now and then.

Dislikes:
Subject appears to dislike hot weather or humid environments. She is also not fond of reptiles, amphibians, and insects, most especially lizards and frogs. She also appears to dislike men due to a trauma she had suffered at a younger age. While not exactly a dislike, she’s not fond of daylight since her glowing body appears dull in comparison.

Personality:
The Subject exhibits a rather passive personality, not willing to take charge and finding it difficult to make decisions and to stick to them. She’s a friendly individual, more so when said individuals react nicely to her new body, and is not against interacting with others. Though not talkative, Subject does not shy away social interactions and loves to have conversations though she prefers to listen more than speak. She’s always willing to lend a hand and help others, though she’d always be looking out for herself first. She’s not greedy nor is she selfish but she does put her own wellbeing above others. So long as helping doesn’t endanger her nor put her in a difficult spot, she will do so. Subject would prefer not to fight if she can avoid it, but she will not hesitate to when there is no avoiding it.

Reasoning:
Subject had been a member of Haven for 3 months since arriving the Island. However, due to an incident involving her and an influential figure within Haven, the Subject has chosen to leave the faction rather than to confront the harasser. She had decided to join Exodus since she knows full well that she would not survive alone and that, since Exodus is still new, it’d be easier for her to settle in this faction.

History:
Subject led a fairly normal life prior to her abduction. She had grown up in a family of 3, her mother a clerk at a pharmaceutical firm while her father ran a small convenience store in their neighborhood. They weren’t rich, but with her being an only child, her parents were able to spend more on her than if she had siblings. She lived a fairly normal life, taking up interest in painting and starting to grow her career around it. Her parents of course supported her, though her father had often stated that he wished she would pick a better paying career so that she would not suffer later on in life. They agreed to compromise and the Subject had instead took to being a graphic designer when she graduated.

Subject was abducted in her home in the middle of the night and the operation had gone off without a hitch. The next thing the Subject knew was that she was in an unknown place in the middle of the woods and that she was glowing. After getting over her initial shock, the Subject lived on her own for a few days, scraping by with what little survival training she’s had. It was then that Haven had found her and invited her to join them, and the Subject had agreed.

The Subject stayed with Haven for then next three months, becoming a more or less productive member of the group. However the Subject had a quarrel with some members of the faction. The reason wasn’t anything big, simply that these members had accused the Subject of taking some of their rations. A fight had occurred and the Subject had accidentally zapped her opponent too hard, dropping him like a fly. Exhaustion took hold of her and she nearly passed out after that. The man had not died but he was gravely injured. The Subject had decided to leave the faction instead, not wanting to make things worse and knowing that the person’s friends won’t exactly make her life easy in there.

The Subject lived once more on her for the next two weeks, now more prepared and knowledgeable. She joined the new faction Exodus after a while, seeing it as an good opportunity. It also helps that it’s still a newly formed faction, so the ranks haven’t been settled yet. It also gives her a chance to one day escape the island and, if possible, return to her normal life..

GENERAL
Name: Dimitri Vygotsky
Nickname: Mitri, Shark Boy
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Demisexual

APPEARANCE
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 165
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Opaque Gray
Build: Athletic
Distinguishing Features: Eyes, pale skin, shark-like teeth, gills
General Description: It is easy to spot Dimitri from meters away. Both his blonde hair and pale skin act like light beams under the sun, making him quite an easy target for those actually looking. He tends to slouch around shorter people in an attempt to blend in and he rarely stands at full height. The only "odd" features about him are his sharp teeth and the light gray gills on either side of his neck. His dermis skin layer is also noticeably thicker and is similar to cartilage. When Dimitri is wet, the cartilage layer grows to form fins on his forearms and legs that allow better motility in water.
EXPERIMENT
ID: 595110
Date: 361 days
Description: Subject underwent genetic splicing with the DNA of varying sharks. Sense of hearing and smell are enhanced. A sixth sense, electroreception, allows the subject to detect electric fields that are generated by living things. Physical alterations of the respiratory system also grants the ability to breath under water.
Strengths:
  • Able to detect changes in vibration, pressure when in water, through the lateral lines in his feet
  • Has the speed and attacking force of a shark, making him ideal in combat or hunting related situations
  • Can hear things at a much lower frequency and detect the sound source from kilometers away
Weaknesses:
  • Is, unfortunately, still blind and will sometimes contort from pain caused by the tampering with his eyes. Episodes can last minutes to hours and may result in fainting
  • Has a predator's instinct and often that instinct will take over, affecting his judgement and rational
  • Suffers from extreme sunburns that only seem to subside when he's in water
Response: Subject appeared frantic and showed signs of temporary PTSD, possibly due to new sensations. Appeared to be under a trance at the scent of blood on multiple occasions and would often perform self-harm in order to return to a state of awareness. Adapted very slowly, however, gradually seemed to become pleased with the ability to "see".

PERSONA
Personality: Although kind and compassionate, Dimitri can be quite aloof when he feels threatened or when he's threatening others. He's in touch with his emotions and of those around him, making him someone soothing to be around when comfort is needed. Dimitri is also protective and he values the safety and security of others before himself. His calming and protective nature, however, can be overpowered by the aggression that surges from his alterations. Fortunately, he's become aware enough not to attack anyone he knows emotionally or physically.

Likes: nature, singing, meat, affection, listening to people talk
Dislikes: sunburns, heat, vegetables, surprises

BACKGROUND
History: Dimitri was born blind and that was quite evident to those around him due to his opaque eyes. He grew up in a somewhat sheltered environment and wasn't able to fully flourish until he moved out for college, where he majored in music. After he graduated, he struggled for a few months since no one wanted to sign or hire a blind musician.

A small recording company then decided to take a chance on the man and so he finally began his career. Only a week after signing, however, Dimitri was suddenly thrown into a vehicle and taken to who-knows-where. That was the last thing he remembered before waking up half submerged in water, unaware of how much time had passed.

Dimitri suffered a great deal upon his arrival. After wandering for days, he was found and accepted by The Enlightened and through their religious methods, helping him come to terms with his new self. Unfortunately, their beliefs became overwhelming for him and the man gradually distanced himself until he became a wanderer again.

He finally found solace in Haven, as they were much more reasonable and on par with his mentality. His predatory instincts were still in the taming process, however, and there were few occasions where he'd injured someone (although mildly). Everyone assured him that it was alright and that he would soon be able to control the instincts but Dimitri decided leaving was the best option.

For the next few months he lived and survived on his own, gradually gaining more control over his predatory instincts.

Reasoning: When news of a new faction reached him, he thought it was time to try and live amongst others again. He joined Exodus after they'd been established for four months.

Name: Albin Vinal

Nickname: "Al" "Big Al" "Horse face"

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Bi

APPEARANCE

Height: 7'4"

Weight: Please, one person at a time. (Over 2,000 pounds)

Hair: Dark, chestnut brown fur covering his entire body.

Eyes: Amber

Build: Overall a bit above-average. A bit more muscle than the average person.

Distinguishing Features: I don't know...maybe the giant horse ass and head? No? Just me that thinks that a little bit odd? A'ight.

General Description: What is there to say about Al. He's what's most of the time referred to as a equitaur. They're very similar to the centaur, except they are more horse than man. Because of this, Albin also has the head and body of Clydesdale, a very powerful breed. His fur is a bit on the longer side, reaching down in his hooves in short tufts of white. He doesn't really wear clothes, not unless they're given to him as a gift or something along those lines.

EXPERIMENT
ID: 187936

Date: Just a little bit over 14 years

Description: The experiment itself was one of the first animal experiments of the newer generation to take place. They more or less wanted to use Albin to see just how much their transplant technology had advanced over the years. Of course, the only way to do that was to see if they could make an equitaur. To their amazement, the head wasn't rejected by the human torso and was even capable of housing a human brain! Who would of thought?

Strengths:
  • Incredible strength- While nowhere near super-human level, Albin is able to lift far more than the average person and his back can certainly hold a good amount of weight.
  • Durability- Albin can certainly go through a lot. He can run for hours upon hours and can even take quite the beating.
  • Speed- Having the rear end of a horse does have its perks. Thanks to having four hooves, Albin can certainly outrun most people or carnivores that may want a taste of him.
Weaknesses:
  • Giant target on back- Albin can't really look behind him that well. He has to turn all the way around to get a clear look, which means it is very easy to just sneak up and jump onto his back
  • Narrow spaces- Albin is simply too big to fit into certain spaces, often needing someone smaller to help out a bit. The same can be said for certain stairs, if he can't fit his hoof on it, he can't go up.
  • Overly stubborn- This equitaur takes the expression "You can take a horse to water, but can't make him drink." to a whole new level. He is hard-set in his ways, be they efficient or not. It will take a whole late to make him change his ways, sometimes even being potentially put in danger or have others at risk.
Response: Albin was pissed. He refused to let anyone get near him, snorting and kicking anyone who dared to get too close. He refused to accept what had happened to him and had completely isolated himself from the rest of the people on the island for a good while. It certainly took some time, but now he seems to be much more accepting of this new body and will even crack wise about it.

PERSONAL
Likes:
  • Vegetables (carrots especially)
  • Relaxing out in the sunlight
  • Going out for runs
  • Rubbing on the back and ears (Will never tell anyone this deep, dark secret)
  • Being called "Al" or some other nickname
Dislikes:
  • Spicy foods
  • Overly hot days
  • People randomly jumping onto his back
  • Being overly treated like a horse
  • Being called by his full name
Personality: What is there to say about Albin? He's a very kind and caring person. He tries his hardest to make sure that everyone is doing okay and usually puts others a bit ahead of himself. He especially seems to gravitate to those he feels could use the help. Of course, he has his "moments" here and there. During those, it's best to stay far...far away. Of course, if one happens to get too close, they may see a bit more kicky and angry side of the horse-man. Other than that though, Albin is really just someone trying to live with all of these changes and just overall survive.

Reasoning: There was really nowhere for Albin. He didn't fall under any of the usual stereotypes associated with the rest of the groups. He couldn't keep up with The Order, wasn't as wild as The Ebonguard, wasn't as accepting as all of the Haven members, and can't even hold a conversation with The Enlightened without the word "Asshole" leaving his mouth.

History: Within his first year on the island, Albin was the single worst person to be near. He was very angry, all the time, nonstop. If someone said something, he'd make sure two hooves would find their way directly into someone's face. He stayed far away from just about everyone. He refused to interact with anyone. Albin was in such denial, for a couple of weeks he continued to tell himself time and time again that he was simply dreaming. After about a month or so, Albin slowly came to terms with his changes.

Of course, it wasn't always like this. Before all of this happened, Albin was a normal person with dreams and aspirations. He lived as a programmer, stuck doing grunt work for the company he had managed to get a job at. Albin was a bit of a recluse, not really going out to do anything or talk to anyone. He'd even exercise from home, mostly preferring to hop on the treadmill for a bit and burn off all that junk food he eats. However, the rest is more or less a blur to Albin. He assumed it was from there he was kidnapped and the horrible experiments began.

Tried as he might, the poor equitaur just couldn't fit in. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't quite find his place in the world. He tried his absolute best to try and find a group to join, but none really ever matched up with his own personality. Eventually, it got to the point where Albin ended up living a sedentary lifestyle. This was extremely hard with all of these groups begging for people to join. He eventually found a place nearby the beach and just let himself live there. At first, he had a hard time trying to stay out on the beach without any help from anyone else. Thankfully, he got used to it after a while.

Six months ago, Albin finally got an offer that he couldn't refuse. A group for people like him, people that couldn't fit into the "norm" of the other groups. It took him almost no time to join almost instantly. After a while, he came out of his shell a bit and actually ended up becoming a bit more like a father figure to the group. Now, he works as hard as he can and tries his best to keep an open mind, despite being one of the most stubborn experiments on the island.

BASICS
Name: Damien Adams
Nickname: "Tigger"
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight

APPEARANCE
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 200 lb
Hair: Strawberry Blonde
Fur: Blonde with black stripes
Eyes: Green
Build: Lean/Masculine
Distinguishing Features: Feline features and tail
General Description: Just a big old pussy cat, Damien looks almost like a normal Bengal tiger outside of standing on two legs and his fur being blonde. He has a wavy mane of hair that almost reaches his shoulders and his fur is mostly short. He wears whatever will fit so his clothes are usually torn.

EXPERIMENT
ID: 259361
Date: a year
Description: Subject has been spliced with genes from an assortment of felines in attempts to bestow night vision and enhanced strength. After extensive sessions it has been concluded we at least managed to increase subject's strength somewhat but at the cost of their humanity.
Strengths:
-Above average strength
-Feline teeth and claws
-Enhanced senses
-Night vision
Weaknesses:
-Some sounds and smells can overwhelm his senses
-His primal instincts can sometimes cause bouts of aggression
-His body requires lots of sleep or it can become fatigued
Response: Upon first waking up and seeing his new appearance Damien couldn't believe it was real, having a mild panic attack when he discovered it wasn't a costume. Once he calmed down he was quite thrilled with the change, finding his new instincts to be the only downside.

PERSONAL
Likes:
-Fish
-Music
-Sleeping
Dislikes:
-Shrill noises
-Vegetables
-Dogs
Personality: Damien tries to be kind for the most part. He likes to stay calm when he can but his instincts can get in the way of this at time. When he does get angry he'll usually leave to calm himself before resorting to violence. He has found scratching trees to be the best way to relieve stress. He mostly prefers to keep to himself if possible, but is more than willing to help out. Once he makes a friend though he becomes very protective of them, often putting himself in danger for them.
Reasoning: Joined Exodus simply because he got tired of hunting on his own.
History: Before being sent to the island Damien spent most of his time at his local zoo. Though only part-time he did manage to get a job there helping with the animals. He was only allowed to feed herbivores like the antelope but was quite fond of the zoos collection of big cats. He was eventually allowed to help with the smaller wild cats but that's as close as he got to his favorite animals until the island.
When he first awoke on the island he was fighting his instincts with every step he took. He spent most of his first month teaching himself how to trap and make tools, surviving off of what few rations that he was left with for the first few days. Eventually with a lot of practice he learned to spear fish and catch deer. When he wasn't focused on his own survival he had to worry about avoiding others that had been experimented on.
Despite not wanting anything to do with the apparent factions that had formed on the island he often secretly left food for Haven. When his offerings were discovered he was invited to join, the residents having no reason to fear him. While he didn't initially accept for fear of hurting them he did eventually setup camp with them. With the formation of Exodus he is unsure what to think of them, but is somewhat intrigued by their plans.
