As many of you are aware, the site now has a lovely monthly newsletter - currently in the process of being revamped! My job, previously, was to write up a recipe for you fine folks to try out - which, to my knowledge, was well received. But, as I'm sure you can attest, being part of a roleplaying community, sometimes it is just more fun to work as a team then on your own.

We're all creative folks and that doesn't stop with writing - Previously,
@welian created a fun project called The Kitchen - a place to host and share recipes with other RPNites.

Today, I present to you, from the minds of the Fellows and Staff, The Kitchen (Redux) -- a new and exciting program where we will take the recipes you post and feature them in the monthly newsletter.

Now, before you go crazy - there are a few ground rules in order to have your recipe posted.

  • You MUST use something you personally have made (no going on Pinterest and copy-pasting recipes).

  • I prefer recipes with images, but this isn't 100% necessary. Still, the nicer the recipe looks, the most likelihood it will be featured.

  • Every recipe MUST also have an option for the 'College Student' lifestyle -- Ways to make it easier and/or cheaper for those without the budget for gourmet.

  • Drinks are also okay, but only non-alcoholic, given the varied age of users on the site.

  • Please do not hound me or anyone else to have your recipe featured. I will do my best to feature everyone I can - but note that only one recipe will be used per month, so it may take some time before you see yours.

  • Also - try not to flood the thread with recipes... One or two to start - and then a few more as more people post. This ensures that no one person is featured too often.

Hopefully, using these guidelines, we can come up with some really great (and delicious) ideas! Let's get cooking!

You all were in the previous thread and shared some great stuff - let's have another course!

Okay. This one is a cake recipe from my grandmother. It's absolutely delicious, especially when eaten with some tea or coffee and a good company of course.

  • 3-4 eggs
  • 1 teacup sugar
  • 1/2 teacup oil
  • 1/2 teacup yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate
  • 1 teaspoon ammonia carbonate (on the very edge of the spoon)
  • 1 teacup marmalade of choice (with fruits inside)
  • 1 teacup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • the rind of a lemon
  • 2 teacups flour

  1. Mix the ingredients the way I've arranged them.
  2. Smear a baking pan with some oil/butter
  3. Bake in a 180 C preheated oven
  4. After 10-15 minutes turn the upper heat source off and wait 'till it rises
  5. Reduce the heat from the lower heat source and turn the upper one back on
  6. After a couple more minutes try with a toothpick if it's ready
  7. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top when cool

I'm gonna see if I can find a copy of my family reunion cookbook. There's some great Italian-American stuff in there, like some bomb-ass pies and tomato sauce.

Here's another one from my mum, this time for all those that love a more healthy lifestyle.

  • 400 gram yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teacups full grain flour
  • 1/2 teacup linseed flour

  1. Bake at a moderate oven for 45 minutes.
