The Kingdom of Sapphire [Inactive]

Chione looked at the other rogues momentarily, before walking over and grabbing her sack that she left beside the tree with the man that Velsir killed earlier. She pulled out the bottle of wine and used her teeth to pull out the cork before shouldering the back, wincing of her tired muscles.

"Let's talk 'bout payment, and perhaps other manners once we're inside, hm?" she showed the wine to him with a grin, stepping over bodies and towards the entrance as if she didn't witness a mass slaughter. She looked over her shoulder with a smug look, seeing of Velsir was following.

Velsir did follow, but he seemed grim. Not because of the battle, that's not the Velsir Chione knew, he seemed grim for other reasons, regrets perhaps, and other things. He was remembering the fact that he was just another person in this world.

Once they entered she couldn't help but mutter something out. "You sure know how to handle yourself, Chi Chi."

He was saying it as he wiped the blood of many men off of his suit of exotic armor, one that handled well. Velsir pulled back his cowl and wiped his face clean.

Chione shrugged, "I've had sex messier than that."

She flopped against one of the fur couches that dotted what she assumed was their main living area - placing the wine upon the coffee table before propping her feet up. The elven maiden sighed loudly, closing her eyes and resting her hands behind her back. Mithril shuffled to the back of the couch before curling up for a good nap.

"By Pelor - I'm sore. I'm getting too old for this." she thought momentarily, musing over what to say before softly adding, "You feel - inadequate."

She opened one eye took look at him for conformation. When there was just silence, she continued.

"You know Velsir. I used to be the queen of the black market back in Farsai. Everyone was clay in my hands. Even the Thane. I had endless supplies of bloodwine and thrush...Anything that would bleed a desperate man dry. But then I got cocky, and I lost it all when I was at the top. I've got to say out of all the other rogue leaders I've seen, you're the only one that didn't fall from his pedestal - yet."

Chione hummed, "Every man and woman falls. Just depends on what the reasoning is. You're slipping, mellon - what's yours?"

"The thing is... well.. there's an entire list, I shouldn't bore you.", Velsir said, he was clearly embarrassed at the reasons, which is why he'd keep his mouth shut. He seemed so business-like and cold to others, yet when Chione was here he became that young man who had began helping her all those years back.

He reached for the wine and pulled out two mugs, in which he filled with the wine. Velsir, with a sigh, grabbed his mug and sipped on it.

She accepted the other mug and took a huge swig of it - uncaring how unlady like it appeared.

"Go on, Hîr vuin. You know there's nothing between us. Except perhaps clothing." She giggled at her own joke before examining him thoroughly. Honestly, out of many acquaintanceships and supplying partnerships she would suppose that she considered him a close friend. It definitely had been a while since she was actually in a good relationship with any man, but not letting go of the past wasn't like her. On most days, anyway.

"It's not like I'm leaving anytime soon. We elves live a while, you know."

She patted the empty spot next to her, indicating that she has no where else to be for a while, patiently waiting.

He sat next to her and sighed.

"Don't laugh... I just feel a little lonely sometimes, other then that I feel like I'm being watched, or I'm about to be ambushed. And it's happened the last few times I've felt it, and that's why I've locked myself up here the last few weeks. You see recently I took a job.. I supposedly killed an ambassador from another country or something and started a foreign war that's cut trade... I didn't mean to.. and now tensions are high and we're being manhunted."

Velsir said it rather fast, blushing as he was rather close to Chione. "Chi Chi, I used to enjoy this, but lately it's been a little too dangerous for my taste, the last time I walked out of here, not including today, I got shot in the stomach with poison and now I can't move as fluid as I'd like.."

Realizing how wrong that sounded his face flushed.

She sat quietly, absorbing the information as she tapped her foot. Killing an ambassador? That's pretty ambitious - she couldn't remember pulling off such a heist. With all the planning, and bounties that would be placed...It would be a definite issue. "I see."

Her mind already started whirring as she thought of the pros and cons of giving him certain information. She swung her legs over and rested them in his lap as she laid down, continuing her methodological process. "You need some powerful leverage, Vel. Something serious to be able to take on a job like that. I admit you got a bit cocky - but that's something that can always be remedied, as well as loneliness. You know you have your guild, and I. I also know of a couple of good brothels.." she winked on the last part, obviously joking before she took another sip of her wine. "An Ambassador...Why would you want to kill someone so high up? Doesn't seem like your style...Like you wouldn't get much out of it."

"He was my brother. It was a personal vendetta, I could've gotten away with it too... But someone had to step in. One of the new thieves, Loridal, thought it would be wise to track me down when I clearly left a note at the entrance indicating I was gone for personal reasons... But no, he had to come tell me that he lost his favorite dagger, and all the guards were on us, that fat oaf.. I barely escaped with my life, but I managed to take my brother's head before I left. Loridal died, and they found the uniform on him...", Velsir said, sighing as he buried his hands in his face.

He was obviously stressed but Chione's legs on his lap couldn't help but make him feel a little embarrassed and nervous if not childish in a sense. His face was slightly red now as he looked over at Chione. "Well I haven't seen you in a while, I guess that's why I've felt lonely.. but let me explain.."

"My brother, the ambassador, Jord Morningred, had left my family when I was a young lad, around four I guess. He was already around a teenager. He joined up with those bandits, the same that killed my family, and I'll never forgive him for that, that backstabbing..."

Velsir held himself back and sighed.

Chione clicked her tongue between her teeth. She knew family betrayal all too well. An image of Talon's smiling face flashed in her mind - but she waved it away with her hand.

"Careful of the fat ones, they're quite dangerous." the elf said this completely seriously, as if speaking from experience. "At least, you were successful. Though I can see how it puts strain upon your back. Here -" she moved her legs and tucked them underneath her, motioning for him to turn his back towards her. "What you need..." she murmured, "Is a big heist...a heist that will put you and your guild back on the map..."

She hummed, rubbing his shoulders gently, before kneading into the muscle just as if she was making fresh bread - like how she does every morning for the tavern. "Something that makes guards not want to come knocking on your door..."

"Your right... I..", he began, but as the massage intensified he accidentally moaned a little. "Damn.. your good at this...", he began, sighing. He was embarrassed but at the same time thought of what to do.

In his head Velsir was devising the ultimate plan...

"Chione, do you think this big heist could be perhaps robbing... the treasury? And perhaps a few shops here and there...", Velsir began. He dreamed, he was like his younger self, ambitious to be at the top. He had the potential but never got to it, yet Chione's words made him feel much more confident. And this massage of course.

She flushed, but made practice to turn her head to make it not noticeable. "Aye, had practice on myself. " she then realized how terrible that sounded before she cleared her throat. "That's a brilliant idea. I think I might know just the elf to help us with it to...But she'll want something in return." she rubbed little circles in his lower back, gently mentioning. "She could get us into the treasury - thanks to her ties with the king but....She'll want something really big in return."

Suddenly she stopped her demonstrations, before jokingly adding: "Unless you feel like you're too old for such a thing."

Velsir laughed, "I'm not too old for anything, sex included.", he said with a teasing tone. "And had to practice on yourself? What does that.. nevermind, I'm not going to ask.", Velsir decided, finding himself blushing.

"And who's this elf?", he asked, interested.

Velsir was going to go through with this, and if he had too, he'd let out some of the deepest, darkest secrets he had kept behind him for so long.

"Eilis. A moon elf - knowledge and bitch extraordinaire." Chione cracked her knuckles before continuing. "If you want to know something, she has it. She turned her home into a library a few moons ago. She's also the King's closest friend. Especially after the death of the Queen."

She slid her hands up his back, resting her lips against his ear. "However, she has someone she wants dead -and even I'm not ambitious enough to take on the bounty."

"And what is the bounty?", he asked. He felt teased and nervous as Chione drew closer. Velsir cursed himself in his head for giving up so easily to Chione, she just knew how to mess with him.

He wondered who this target would be, and if he'd dare to end that person's life. Velsir was determined, however, to immortalize his guild in history, and to keep it alive for as long as he was it's leader.

Her eyes narrowed. "The king's right hand man, of course. High Chancellor Lysander." She drew away, eyeing him closely. She honestly, didn't want him to take the bounty - but she was told to find someone to assassinate him, and it seemed like Velsir was the best candidate.

"When he's dead, Eilis will take office. Once she takes office, well...there's many things she could do for the Rogues. Protection from the law would be one of them."

"I know you well enough to tell you don't like this, what's the problem?", he asked. He seemed determined, ready to kill Lysander at this very moment. He had to keep his family going, alive. No matter the cost, even if he had to pay his own life he'd do whatever he can to keep the family alive, the guild alive.

Velsir wouldn't betray his family like his brother had betrayed his. He had taken that oath ever since he had slit his brother's throat.

"I just don't like mages. Eilis doesn't seem all that innocent either." she frowned, thinking thoroughly. "Plus it's a greed contract. I don't do well with greed. Or politicians..Or greedy politicians."

"I have to take this though, for the guild. You know that.. but.. I won't take it if you disapprove of it", Velsir said to the elven woman, what was he doing? Would this be betraying his family? He was letting his feelings for someone else overlap those of his family, was that so wrong?

He wasn't sure anymore, but he had already said it.

She nodded, smiling softly. "I get that. If you need help, I'm willing to do my part."

Chione bit her lip, before sighing. "We can't do this with just the two of us, however. We need more people."

Velsir nodded, sighing. He honestly didn't want Chione to come along in fear of her being hurt or getting in trouble, yet he knew quite well that she could handle herself, and his worry was marked clear across his face.

"My guild just took a heavy blow, we only have thirteen members now.. I suggest we expand our presence before we try anything big, just get more members capable like the last ones, I guess.."

Snickering, she wrapped her arms around his neck. "I guess if you knew some people. I guess I could salvage a couple of warriors and such. There is also, possibly the lycans. Everyone knows that they can't stand Lysander after their banishment." she got serious again, adding: "We're talking about possibly starting a war here, or worse. Who knows what will happen, and who knows how Eilis will act once she's in such a high position of power."

Velsir sighed. "I do love myself trouble...", he said with a smile, yet he blushed as he noticed her arms were around his neck. With a gulp his face went red.

"Anyone will be welcome, as long as we can trust them, and as long as they can fight better then those guards..", he said with a sigh, thinking. "And if it comes down to a war I'll deal with it, by my self. The others, including you, will go into hiding, as long as you avoid whoever chases us."

The elf ruffled his hair as she grabbed herself another mug full of wine. "Me, hide? Bah!" she smiled as she raised the mug to her lips. "Hiding is for the mages in their fancy Academy in the middle of the desert. I've been in too many places to hide."

Suddenly, she heard a knock at the door, causing her to turn towards the entrance curiously. "Company?"

Velsir sighed, he'd do whatever it took to convince Chione to run if it came down to any ultimate trouble like war. His train of thought was crushed by the knocks and he quickly grabbed a nearby bow, aiming an arrow towards the door. He didn't trust anyone now a days, yet if it was a guild member he'd lower it.

Waiting for them to enter he kept his aim and would regret it if he let them even so much as touch Chione in a hostile manner. No guest was treated rudely on his watch.

Besides, only Chione could mess with him if she wanted to, and that means something.

A burly head peeked through the door - in which made Mithril coo in the general direction.

"...Harald?" Chione got up, tilting her head.

The cook opened the door wider, grumbling. "I uh - did was you told me to ma'am. But uh - someone's in your office."

Her eyes narrowed. "In my....office." she didn't say it as a question, more like a scolding as she dusted herself off. "Who, exactly is in my office?"

He rubbed his neck as he flushed - the red spreading down all the way to his neck. "It's the scribe, m'lady. The rude one...Uh -" he pouted. "She called me an oaf, and told me to get you."

"I see." Chione looked over her shoulder at Velsir with a smile. "Seems like we found Eilis - rather...she found us. Let's go see what she wants, shall we?"
