Realistic or Modern The King of Keshland

"Perhaps I say this because my mother died when I was so young, but I feel like you should try and make some sort of amends with her," said Clotilde. "But I do understand, Your Majesty. What she did, it is a hard thing to forgive."

Ezekiel laughs at Taruka's reaction and said "Surprised you, didn't I? he teased her and turbed to face Avlina. "You know Princess, getting drunk in someone else's home isnt really womanly you know. Remember what happened to last year's drunk incident of yours... you stole a two bottles of wine and a hoard of books and stuffed them in a bag while you were drunk." he sighed and gently flicks her forehead. "You ditzy." despite her bring the princess, he didnt mind it and was pretty comfortable being himself around Avlina. He was looking iut for her safety as well.

"I did not!" Avlina huffs indignantly, stamping her foot like a small child. True or not, she would never admit to that mishap. "Can I have my wine back?" Leaning into him and reaching for the glass. "I just wanted to find a good book, the party was soo boring." She said with a slight pout. Tilting her head, she glanced at Taruka who had fled to the window. "Iss she okay?" She wonderd, not having been around many pregnant women.

Jacob sighed and plopped right onto the bed next to her. He had so many things he wanted off his chest but it was as if each problem he was about to tell Mai would immediately be overshadowed by another until there was just a chain of things wrong.

After a moment Jacob decided to tackle the biggest first
"Mai... Am I welcome here? I was only even given a chance because Daniel was the one who suggested bringing me in but now I feel like I've ruined all of my chances of becoming apart of the family. Tonight Charles, Daniel and I argued whether to invade Gotriel. I tried to tell them why it wouldn't be a good idea but I think I was really just calling them idiots without any reason. I I know I want to apologize but I can't because in my heart I believe Daniel has crossed the line.

I know I shouldn't ask but.... Do you believe Our brother was in the right when he killed lord James and dethroned mother? I think I shall known if these feelings inside me are unjust or not from your answer."

Jacob didn't realize he didn't take any breakers to breathe until he was practically gulping in breathes after. After he said one thing suddenly an avalanche of words fell out of his mouth.

"I am a weak man when it comes to that but for you, I will be strong..."
The king held her hand "Not today." He said with a slight smile "Today I have installed fear in all my subjects... We need to lighten the mood."

"Indeed, Your Majesty," said Clotilde. "A lighter mood is most certainly needed. A good king ought to be feared, but there also must be a bit of love for him. You must find a proper balance, Majesty."

"Plan something nice as my mistress you have access to my funds." The king stood and stretched "I'm going to my chambers I need some alone time." the king kissed her forehead and headed towards his chambers

Taruka continued to throw up out of the window for a few moments before turning back and walking over with a sigh, leaning against the wall, "I-I'm fine, promise just- a little regrettable that I can't have any of that wine~…." She chuckled lightly with a pale faced smile, she was curious as to how the two knew each other but wasn't going to pry into it, her hair settled gently at her neck as the baby kicked her lightly and she tried to calm them down.

"Your Majesty, I am honored," said Clotilde, a blush painting her cheeks, and a small giggle escaped her lips. She was used to attending parties, but not having one for her. "I promise, it shall be a wonderful affair."

Ezekiel pats Taruka's back and said "You okay?" he asked when a fellow servant came in rushing to see what was wrong with Taruka. It looked like the servant knows Taruka and was genuinly concerned. "Taruka, are you okay? I was about to head over to the kitchen when I saw you throwing up." Ezekiel said to the servant "Get her to rest for now, she needs it, please." he pats her head gently.

Then he turns to the drunk Princess "Yes . You. Did." he said and drinks some of the wine and wasn't surprised it tasted delicious. Any wine that Avlina gets her hands on was always delicious. "Here, you can have this back." he said and remembered the library he was just in. "I saw the library not too long ago, come on, we'll go over there and read some books for awhile, will that make you feel better?" he asked, grabbing her hand, just to make sure she won't just wander off elsewhere and wreak havoc while she's in her drunk-state.

When they got to the library, he opened the door and then sees some servants cleaning some shelves and walks over to him "Sorry, just here to read some books, if you don't mind." he said waving at the servants who blushed when they saw him. His masculine and seductive pheromone affected them, making the other maid bump onto another servant and blush. He chuckles and looks for a good section to start on.

Ever since they were children, Mai would always come to play with her siblings, sometimes with the other children from downtown. When she used to play around with Jacob, it felt awkward at first but she was glad and relieved when he slowly starts to open up to her Until to this day, she felt relieved to see him rely on her, feeling needed and not used. "Jacob, brother... our family is a bit how you say 'rough on the edges' but they still think you are part of this family. We accepted you. I see you as my real brother who I love and cherish." he placed her hand on his gently.

"Listen Jacob, despite being the King he is and the brother I respect and love as well, I have a bad feeling things will turn for the worse after this.. I know its bad... that's why we have to lead him to the right path and not stray from the light that he has shun away. Despite our mother being dethroned by our brother, I still feel like I have no say in it for now... things just keeps happening and I really want all of us to discuss things and not make a war. Our people are happy with their lives, working hard everyday. I for one don't want to ruin that, or ruin anyone's lives." she said and closed her eyes. "I just wish for a peaceful Kingdom, we both do..." she opened them again and shakes her head. "I don't want to have to resort to violence again..." she says as her hands tremble from the memory of her dark days when she was kidnapped as a child back then.

Taruka was startled as the maid suddenly appeared, shaking her head quickly, "N-No I'm fine I promise!" She tried to insist getting pulled away with a sigh and spotting a crying Mioko as they passed, stopping the woman with a polite smile she walked over to the small child, wrapping her in an awkward hug, "Hey…. What's up little Mioko?~…." She asked in the most comforting voice she could, which wasn't the best when you were trying not to throw up on someone, Mioko simply shook her head and buried her face into the woman outside the throne room.

Avlina waved to Taruka as she was led away, hoping the girl would be alright. "I'd love to so see the library." She happily sipped at her wine as Ezekiel led her away. "What are you doing at this silly party anyways Ez?" She asked as they walked through the library. She smiled at all the books, happy to find something she enjoyed rather than trying to impress a bunch of nobles she didn't care for.

"Oh, the usual, work, making sure you're not ruining the party." he teased her a bit but was telling the truth and scans at all the books that were neatly arranged in the bookshelves. Ezekiel sees a familiar children's books at the bottom of the shelves and then sat down. "How about you, I'm sure you read these when you were a child as well." he said, showing her some of the books he found on the bottom part of the bookshelf.

My tutors wouldn't let me read them on fathers order." She reached for the books he showed her, flipping through the pages to look at the pictures. "Mother used to read them to me at bedtime without fathers knowledge though." She smiled sadly, remembering a time when her mother still cared. "Why can't life always have a happy ending like in these books, Ez?" She lifted her stormy eyes to his, her cheeks flushed slightly from the wine.

A mother's love was supposed to be special but he didn't have any of that since childhood. Ezekiel shrugs it off and listens to Avlina's question and replied "Life isn't always fair Princess Avlina..." he chuckles while skimming the children's book, remembering his neglected days from when he was a child and when he still lived with his parents. He had this bitter look that just makes him look lonely, like a child. "That's why my refuge sometimes is by reading a book, wanting to go away from the cruel world for just awhile and be engulfed with fantasies that we wish we were in. But on the bright sight, the real world also gives us opportunities to make our own decision towards the happy ending we want. And I plan to do that." he says and faces her with a smile.

Aiko had followed the king, leaving Mioko behind for she knew something exci- bad was about to happen. She watched a man got beheaded. She watched her brother go on a tangent. She watched as Clotilde became his mistress. Aiko felt... not scared. It was rather fascinating watching the king act that way. She was, however, upset at the fact that this was how her king would be. Still, Aiko acted upset, because... obviously...

Avlina watched Ezekiel with a sad smile. He looked lonely and it made her want to comfort him. Sliding off her chair, she sat beside him on the floor and placed her hand over his on the book. "Books are good that way, like a portal to another world." She smiled wistfully at the pictures in the book before lifting her eyes to his. "I want to be in control of my future." She said softly, "To be with someone I love, not some King my father thinks I should marry." She sighed softly, leaning her head against his shoulder.

Ezekiel chuckles "No matter how many times your father pushes you up for countless of marriage proposals, you still refuse." he held her hand back. "You know what I thought when I first saw you reject a prince in front of a crowd back at Ivrazia?" he still remembers it clear as day. She slapped the prince and threw the bouquet of flowers to his face and just left without saying a word. "I thought that you were pretty interesting and brave back then, and you still are, actually. Watching you do what you want is entertaining in its own way." he said and then puts back the book into the bookshelf.

"He started when I was thirteen!" She huffed, pouting slightly. "He doesn't even have the right to choose the next King, that's mothers job.. If she ever come back." She squeezed his hand tightly at the thought of her mother. "I'm glad you think I'm brave, at least someone does. My people must think I'm a terrible coward for letting father send me away. I should have stood up for my rights, for my crown... But I couldn't bare losing both parents in one day." She let out a soft sigh, lifting her tear filled gaze to his.

Ezekiel lets go of her hand and cups her cheek and wipes her tears away with his thumbs and said "Oh sure your father is strict, but he only does that because he loves you, even though he doesn't show it much these days." he said "A parent will always do anything for their children." after saying that it just pricks his heart and doesn't show it. "Now how about we head out for now and let you rest, it's been quite a day." he said before standing up and helps her up. "Come on Princess Avlina, someday you'll get to prove to everyone that you are no coward, and someday you'll find the one person who you will love. I'm sure he's just out there, still searching for you." he smiled at her and ruffles her hair.

"I know he loves me.. but he sent me away the same day she left, and I haven't even seen him since. It's been two years Ez.." She sighed, blushing lightly as he wiped her tears. She nods as he pulls her onto her feet, knowing she should sleep. "I wish I could prove it now." She smiles half-halfheartedly. I also wish he wasn't searching anymore.. but here with me.. She thinks sadly, biting her lip as Ezekiel ruffles her hair like a child.

Taruka glanced around trying to find someone else to aid in comforting the child, she looked after her every once in a while but her maids or people at the palace were far more suited than herself when she had the panic attacks, "H-Hey, calm down and look at me, okay?…. It's all gonna be alright~…." She whispered and tried to calm her down a little, the small and innocent girl gave a slight nod though her well like eyes continued to pour with desperate tears, Taruka gave the biggest and bravest smile she could in return.

Jacob gave a smile before wrapping his arms around Mai. She was truly what kept him sane in this castle. She had also given him the strength he needed to continue to stand by his brother's side and make sure Daniel doesn't stray any farther from the path. "Thank you sister" Jacob muttered with his emotion leaking out of every syllable like a dam ready to burst.

Jacob was already thinking up a plan for how to confront his brother if worse got to worse. He knew that it would be an incredibly dangerous task to to his brother's ego but Jacob needed to atleast plan for the what if. Of course Jacob would never share these thoughts with anyone but himself. He decided to change the topic
"I'm guessing you're pretty stressed too. If I can open up to you the you can open up to me. Even if it seems like nothing I still want to hear it"

Surprised by his hug, Mai hugged back. Usually it was her who would hug first but it seems like Jacob really needed someone today. Someone he can lean on whenever he was down like this. She still remembers the days she would fail when she tries to have a conversation with him when they were children. 'He sure has grown....' she thought and while gently patting his head but then pulls away when he asked her about being open. Mai thought about her mother and Daniel's action has changed but she knew the reason why he was acting like this. She looked down and shakes her head "I'm.. fine, Jacob." she gave him a smile and stands up. She was always ready to comfort him or anyone for the matter, but for some reason she wasn't that much open about her feelings and didn't want to trouble others with her own troubles. She somehow changed after 'that' day. "I'll be going back to my room and rest for now, thanks for the offer but I have to rest now." she smiled before walking outside and heads back to her room.
