Realistic or Modern The King of Keshland

"Our feelings are disregarded at the wedding," said Clotilde. "Why should they be taken into consideration throughout the marriage? Is it better to be loyal and unhappy throughout the marriage? Or disloyal and happy?"

"As royals we have a sense of duty to our people. At some point we have to disregard a part of ourselves to do what is right for our people."

"Yes, you marry and produce heirs and you keep your people safe," said Clotilde. "Keeping true to your spouse is not a duty to your people."

"Of the people find out, they talk, if they talk they spread rumors. If there are rumors, there is dissension. Dessension leads to fights."

"King's have mistresses," said Clotilde casually. "This is not news to anyone. It is a coveted position to hold. Many women would happily agree to be his mistress."

Charles entered the throne room and whispered to Daniel they both left and headed towards his study.

Charles: Daniel I think you should banish your mother an hear me out ... She's been making all kind of alliances behind your back you need to declare yourself king in the firmest way possible.

Daniel: I hear you but banishing her would take her away from her children she loves us ... she's just firm but she loves us.

Charles: Decrown her in front of the kingdom...

Daniel: Fine I'll do it but let's discuss you marrying my sister. You have to give up your whorish ways Charles...

Charles started laughing

Charles: You were quite the ladies man as well you just could never seal the deal because you love Clotilde.

Daniel scratched his head

Daniel: That is true did you see the two princesses my mother invited.

Charles: Yes... The vampire and the Amazon you're a lucky man

Daniel punched Charles

Daniel: They're both very pretty but my heart belongs to someone else...

Charles: We have more important problems I think we should declare war on Gotriel.

Daniel: Let us discuss this with Jacob he's the new general.

The two young men entered the study and sent a servant to find Jacob

"Or perhaps their feelings are genuine," said Clotilde. She became furious at those words. Her love for Daniel was true. "There are whores who covet the position, but I trust the King would choose someone who loved him, and who he loved in return."

"A smart king would not be disloyal to his wife," she says with anger in her voice.

"You really expect him to be loyal to you?" Clotilde asked. "You would happily ask your husband to forsake someone he loves and enter a loveless marriage?"
"I expect loyalty and honesty. Nothing ever came from a disloyal king except war and children."

"I don't see why he wouldn't be honest with you," said Clotilde. "I'm sure he will be honest about his relationships. If not, I promise, I shall be kind enough to tell you. And don't worry. I don't seek any claim to the throne, so children, which I am certainly not planning to have, at least, anytime soon, will not be seeking anything from the King."

Elicia silently stared into the girls eyes. They had gone from hypothetical situations to literal situations and she didn't like this girl going after the king. It was true. Elicia had no love for the king but they could try to work something out.

"I can't imagine anything good coming to anyone who wants to keep two people who love each other apart," said Clotilde. She looked into Elicia's eyes and a smile crossed over her face.

Elicia put an obviously fake smile on her face "If you will excuse me, Clotilde I have some business I must attend to," she bows her head slightly.

The king remembered he had previous engagements "Charles discuss this with Jacob I have to retire for the evening." Charles nodded and started setting up the map Daniel started walking to his chamber.

Clotilde couldn't worry about Elicia now. She had other things she had to do. Much more important and fun than Elicia. She began making her way to Daniel's chamber.

The king sat on the edge of his bed and sent his servants away for the evening he had them light the candles and leave wine and food. The king untied his shirt to show some skin and leaned back slighty.

Clotilde made it to Daniel's room and knocked on his door. She looked around to make sure no one was there.

"Your Majesty," Clotilde called softly.

The king opened the door the closed it behind her "Call me Daniel no one is around," Daniel took a sip of his wine "I'm not sure how to go about this... " He pat the bed to signal her to sit down

Not seeing anyone she knew or wanted to speak with, Avlina grabbed another glass of wine before slipping out of the ballroom. She wandered around the halls, looking for a library as she sipped the wine. "Nope, not this one." She giggled as she closed the door and moved farther down the hall. "Where are you mister library? I want to read your treasures." She said in a sing-song voice as she continued her search.
