Realistic or Modern The King of Keshland

Daniel has just been crowned king and people from all over came to visit him. Daniel was irritated and that's the nice way of saying how he felt he was in a room surrounded by people he didn't know. On top of that, his mother arranged for him to meet some princess when he just wanted to be with Clotilde a girl he had watched from afar. But he knew he had to marry someone who could better his kingdom if wanted to be a strong ruler.

Daniel walked around "Hi, how are you," He said with his fake smile talking to people. He went for the wine but his mother said no. Daniel was a very light drinker so he listened to her and just sat at the throne and listened to the music start. He looked at all of the girls in the room wondering which ones were the princess his mother picked. At this point, he was sitting with a frown on his face and looked like he would execute anyone who approached him.

Mioko was, uh…. well- simply put very lost. She was supposed to be helping out in the kitchen with the rest of the staff whilst the higher class and royals enjoyed the party upstairs but somehow on her way back from the bathroom had taken wrong turn, or five, walking in through a side door the small figured innocent girl leaked through the crowd like it was nothing, she didn't have a uniform since she didn't fit in one so it could easily be assumed she was a noble's child that was just wandering around by herself for a bit it wouldn't be an out of place thing.

It wasn't long to the innocent crystal blue and slightly glassy eyes of the child lay upon the king himself sitting in his throne, unlike the others the vibe he gave off had no affect on her, in fact she seemed completely oblivious to its existence all together, going over to him slowly she pulled out a rather intricate flower crown and sat on the floor in front of him, holding it up as though some sort of 'cheer up' present, it was an arrangement of purple and blue flowers that rather complimented his face one would note, she'd tried just about every colour but this combination always worked best, oh- and he refused to wear the pink ones so that had factored in.

The area was flooded with strangers, all here because Aiko's older brother was now king. Aiko's cheeks had been pinched a million times over. It was beyond annoying. The music started. It was... okay. Aiko saw Mioko pass by. She must've gotten lost... Aiko wanted to follow her. She ran towards Mioko,
but was stopped by a middle-aged woman.

"Oh, it's Princess Aiko!" she squealed. "How cute!"

Fucking hell...

Still, Aiko let the woman pinch her cheeks and show her to other people. She then left when the woman was distracted. Where was Mioko? Aiko looked around and found her with her brother, putting a flower crown on his head, completely oblivious to the fact that he looked beyond annoyed. So cute.... Aiko rushed forward, dancing her way around other people. She rushed past the king (Daniel wouldn't do anything more than yell at her),
and glomped Mioko.

"Miokooo!" she said cheerfully.

The king smiled at Mioko "Stand," he said in a low tone "If you're going to attend this party you must act like a noble child bow and give me the crown then go play before people start asking questions."Daniel took the crown and held it in his hand and headed towards the window it was a great day for riding. A young lady offered him a cup of tea he smiled and accepted it as one of his friends approached him a nobles son from across the sea. "King Daniel," he said laughing

"I remember when we would run from your sister she was so weird."
Daniel laughed "She's an honorable woman now and a looker you should try to court her." His friend laughed "I'll wait until your youngest sister comes of age." They both stood in the window laughing "Aiko will definitely be a beauty she looks like a young version of my mother." His friend smiled "These princesses are making my eyes hurt but I heard Queen Fawn is here and her corset is so tight nothing is left to the imagination." The young men walked away to find Queen Fawn but were stopped multiple times by guest.

Throne Room

It was a very auspicious day for the Kingdom. Guests from other countries have arrived and greeted Mai's dear brother, Daniel is now crowned King. But it seemed like he was in a rather bad mood, just from meeting and greeting other guests. 'Oh big brother...' she thought and was startled when a hand tapped her shoulder to see one of the noble families walked over to greet her as well. She smiled back the old couple and started talking about Daniel's childhood. And every time they would talk about Daniel, she would always praise him for his skills, his wise decisions everything that he has done up to now was true and the old couple seem to respect him more. After chatting with them, she excused herself and went over to the other side of the room to see her little sister, Aiko, with her friend Mioko. She smiled at her little sister before walking pass some more people.

People started to gather around her, praising her and asking her questions about the kingdom. It seemed to bother her that some people were trying to sugarcoat their words towards her. She knew some of their attitude towards her was just to get on their family's good side. She understood that. Connections are everything. Power if everything to these people. Money is everything to these people. Mai gave them a bow before going to a corner and leans over on the wall.

Sighing before she noticed some people she knew, and merely acted as if she didn't know them. Those people were more like her bodyguards who blends in within the crowd. After the whole kidnapping incident when she was a kid, protection was number one for Mai. But sometimes, she thought that having too much guards surrounding her is really unnecessary.

"Ah I know..." she thought and called out a maid to go get her Koto from her room. After a few minutes, the maid placed the instrument on the floor as she sat down. People turned heads to see what was going on. 'It's getting a little tense here... maybe a little music will lighten things up...' she thought.

The music

Jacob was the definition of feeling uncomfortable. Despite the charming smile on his face as Jacob wooed some ladies with hilarious stories, the only thing on his mind was the now king, Daniel. It was safe to say that Jacob had no idea how to feel . As a child he had always wished that he would become the king of Keshland, and yet here he was, at the coronation for his damned brother. Yet he didn't feel any resentment towards him, for he had known it would be more likely for him to take the crown. Jacob just felt empty.

He saw his Mioko rush by holding something in between her small hands. After turning his head Jacob then saw Aiko get stopped by some old women, Jacob couldn't help but smile. Finally the girl looked to be putting the thing on Daniel's head. So it was a flower crown as always.

The women he was talking to were now entirely focused on his sister as she went over to her little friend Mioko. He could hear awws and oohs from the women's painted red lips.

"It was wonderful talking with you my ladies, but I will have to take my leave."

After a quick bow he headed over to one of the many chairs that lined the marble room. Taking a seat he let out a sigh and resigned himself to watching the guests mingle.

Elicia grunts and tries to get her body to sit in the dress just right so she didn't feel like she was going to burst out of it at any moment. Her hand maiden gently slaps her hand, "Milady you will need to relax I know what I am doing ok? I helped your mother when she was your age," she smiles. Elicia frowns. She hated being compared to her mother. Yes she may have the temper of her mother, but she had the will to fight like her father. She hated being so far away from home, but her father had convinced her that it was for the betterment of their country and their relations with this country.

The handmaiden soon buttoned the last button before stepping back and admiring her handiwork. Elicia turns to look in the mirror and didn't like what she saw. The girl was lead into the main chamber where the party was going on and after a brief introduction to some of the nobles, she was left to roam the room. She either needed to find the king or the king's mother if she was to court the boy.

Charles walks in and approaches Daniel who is now back in his throne looking gloomy.

Charles: "My lord" then he bows
Daniel: "No need to be so formal you are like a brother to me."
Charles:" With that attitude people will take advantage of you, but I am here about our alliance.
Daniel: "I'm giving my brother Jacob the general position."
Charles: "He's not a royal descendant the pope will never allow it"
Daniel: "If I die they will push him out the castle he needs something to fall back on."
Charles: "I understand ."
Daniel: "You will be regent."
Charles: "Daniel I'm speechless."
Daniel: "However you must court my sister."
Charles: "The 12-year-old? She's a little immature."
Daniel: "My sister Mai"
Charles: "She's so odd..."
Daniel: "Not anymore she's an honorable woman now."

Charles looked over at Mai "She's pretty." He said with an awkward smile "But, I like more than looks." Daniel laughed "The suave man likes more than looks just talk to her." They both stared at Mai from across the room.

Avlina sighed, she hated these stuffy events. She was only attending because she'd received a letter from her father the week before stating that her presence was required. Another potential husband to meet, better the kingdom and her future. It was such a nice day out, she'd much rather be out riding. Avlina slowly made her way towards the window, smiling and responding politely as other guests spoke to her, but quickly excusing herself to get away.

Finally reaching the window, Avlina leaned against the wall and looked out over the castle yards. I get that I'm the last of grandfathers line with mother being missing.. But why do I have to be subject to men's wishes. I dont want to marry someone I barely know just because he's a king. She sighed again, turning to watch the festivities, Maybe I should just go dance, lose myself in the music and forget about meeting this King. At least I came to the coronation. She smiled at the thought, wondering how her father would react if he heard she'd attended the party but never met the King.

The king looked over and noticed a foreigner standing near the window he excused himself and walked over. The king bowed "I am Daniel a pleasure to meet you." He turned and faced the crowd "You look just as bored as me! You were forced to be her as well?" Daniel crossed his arms "Such a boring party and on such a nice day." Daniel turned facing the window as the wind started to blow his hair.

Mioko almost fell face forward between trying to get up and suddenly being half lay on by Aiko, once regaining her balance she glanced backwards curiously before giggling and smiling widely, listening to the newly crowned kings words in the background, it was rare she got a command to go play and she certainly wasn't going to waste it, nodding once respectfully before running off with the other young girls hand in her own grasped tightly, weaving through the people as though it were some form of art, a skilful dance you might even say before reaching a less populated corner of the room.

"Play?~" She asked with an innocent smile, letting go of the others hand with a light flustered pink tinge on her cheeks, clapping her hands together once and closing her eyes as she jumped once excitedly.

Taruko was innocently glancing around the room as she step one foot into it, a light blush on her cheeks, she hated having to enter events like these but she was instructed to go and check on how things were going and the supplies of food and drinks, awkwardly she kept to the edge, her fiery personality toned down to that of a timid lamb as she seemed unsure on how to behave, in any other situation she wouldn't have been like this, but the fact of her current- well, it was a bit hard not to notice the rather large stomach she had from every angle but a certain one behind. It wasn't until she bumped into one of the many guests whilst lost in thought that she seemed to snap out of her daze, turning an even brighter pink shade as she bowed a little apologetically, "S-Sorry!- I, er…. Is- everything to your liking?~" She asked, giving as warm and confident a smile as she could muster, she did note the woman didn't look all that comfortable in her clothing, but her features were foreign and she was certainly not from around here with her mannerisms, her gaze evidently curious.

Elicia grunts and was about to turn around and yell at the person who bumped into her but she blushes slightly as she notices a girl about her age standing there nervously. After clearing her throat and giving the girl a smile and a slight nods, Elicia spoke, "I do not really enjoy being here but I am glad I got to meet your acquaintance. I am Princess Elicia of Gotriel and I have travelled here to court the king for his hand in marriage so my father's kingdom does not fall to civil war." She sighs and looks the girl over. "I can't help but to notice your um...predicament...may I help you?" She stutters out.

Of course, Daniel would tell the cute little servant to play. If this wasn't Mioko,
Aiko might've gotten annoyed. But she didn't, because this was Mioko. She could hear a friend of Daniel's, talking about taking Aiko when she grew up. Aiko dissembled her annoyance and disgust. She didn't want to marry.
Not yet. The girl looked over at her blonde-haired, bright eyed friend. She didn't want to marry at all. Mioko suddenly grabbed her hand and ran right through the crowd. Aiko, letting herself get a bit dumbfounded, ran along,
not getting too annoyed at the "awes" coming from everyone. She could be with Mioko! She could be with Mioko! Mioko led her to a more empty corner of the room, which Aiko knew would eventually get crowded by middle aged women.

"What should we play?" Aiko asked.

Tag would be a bad idea in such a crowded room... Hide and seek? But Aiko didn't want to be apart from Mioko...

He turned and faced the crowd "You look just as bored as me! You were forced to be her as well?" Daniel crossed his arms "Such a boring party and on such a nice day." Daniel turned facing the window as the wind started to blow his hair.

Avlina forced a smile as the King approached her. Guess I am meeting him today, she thought as she curtsied. "The pleasure is mine your majesty." She said rather sarcastically before her smile turned real at his next words. "I was actually, father doesn't take no for an answer. I'd much rather be out riding." She said softly, turning to the window as well. "I was just contemplating avoiding my reason for being here before you came over." She laughed lightly at the irony. "How have you been enjoying the festivities of your coronation?"

Mioko didn't even seem to notice the stares of the older woman, simply seeming happy to be around the other young female, she'd heard Daniels discussion but had chosen to ignore it, as far as she was concerned, Aiko was hers and hers only. Chuckling a little she thought for a few moments, "Uh—….. Games~…." She mumbled quietly trying to think, "How bout'-…." She began to mumble, her lower class accent slipping out a little, "I spy!~" She continued excitedly and jumped up and down, she seemed to love the innocent game despite her age, it was mainly played to amuse younger kids in long carriage rides, in fact if it weren't for the princess she wouldn't have even known it existed, "I spy, with my little eye something beginning with~….. M!~" She let out with a smirk, and pointed up in the air cheerfully, causing her sleeve to ride up slightly and reveal the rather large burn like scar a little.

Taruka let out a polite smile up at the woman, almost as though bracing for being hit or something of the like before relaxing as she instead opted for words, "I do not really enjoy being here but I am glad I got to meet your acquaintance. I am Princess Elicia of Gotriel and I have travelled here to court the king for his hand in marriage so my father's kingdom does not fall to civil war." Civil war? Ah, that was where she was from, she'd heard the rumours and all, she was used to royals by this point but she still tried to do a polite curtsy as much as was possible, the next words too her a little off guard, "H-Huh? Predicament?~….." here words trailed off as she slowly looked down at her stomach, "O-Oh! That, I'm fine, really~…. I mean- it's already been what, almost eight months? I'm just checking in on the party after all I have to help out during these events, don't get to relax at all and its not like they're giving me any help with that, feels like months since eI've actually had a good rest~" She chuckled a little lightly, resting her hands around her stomach a little, the small 'crawlspace' under the main floors wasn't exactly the best room but it was better than the horrible place she'd been staying at before in town, and it at least meant her commute in the morning was only upstairs rather than through town, if anything she was extremely thankful for it.

"Nice to meet ya' by the way, names Taruka, I'm- uh…. Prince Jacobs….." She let out an annoyed sigh and closed her eyes for a moment, she hated the term with a passion and the slight eyebrow twitch and abruptly angered smile only added in making it ever more obvious, "…. 'mistress'…." She muttered, her smile soon returning to normal as she managed to cool her temper, she couldn't risk making a scene at an important party like this. "You look not much older than me? Right. I hope you enjoy your marriage, prince- king, Daniel is exceptionally nice and wise in his decisions but uh, I'd suggest against it at this current moment, he's been in a right bad mood lately." She gave the advice with a genuine smile, it wasn't unusual for people to get married young, though she found it unfair how guys got to be so much older, it wasn't unheard of for sixty year old kings to marry a twenty year old queen, and yet the other way was for some reason almost unthinkable, it made her blood boil at the thought, "So, is there anything that I could help you with? Food? Drinks? Possibly even finding a less crowded place?" She let another king-hearted giggle escape from her mouth, her eyes caught notice of someone in the room she could've sworn looked familiar to her but decided not to think on it too long and instead get back to the conversation at hand.

Mai was certainly getting some attention from their guests after performing a piece with her Koto. People clapped and praised her for her talent in playing the Koto. People find it unusual to see such an instrument but some find it intriguing as well. One by one, she seem to notice familiar faces coming in sight. People were having fun with the party and some was even having a little chat with some of the middle class citizens who were invited. Today will definitely be a memorable day for the Ferry family.

Seeing her brother chat with someone familiar, her eyes filled with curiosity, she decided to go and walk over to her big brother. "Oh Daniel." she called out but covered her mouth and giggled "I mean My Lord, did you watch me perform on my Koto? It seemed to please the guests when I was playing it." she smiled and turned to see a blonde man. She realized who the handsome blonde man was, it was Charles. He actually looks more mature than her even though he is younger than her, and also taller than her. She let out a huff before bowing and smiled at Charles. "If it isn't Prince Charles, it's been so long since I've last saw you. You were this little when we last saw each other." this is it, usually she would keep quiet and act like a lady but when it comes to Charles, she would often act out of character. Like she would tease him sometimes. "The ever so clingy prince is now a handsome prince, who knew you would turn out like this, I'm impressed." she grins at him. Even though she knew that Charles thinks of her as odd, she didn't mind it.

Royal Garden
Moving over to the other side of the room, just to escape from the ladies who was fawning over him, Ezekiel makes his way outside of the throne room and ended up going to the castle's garden. There were guards patrolling each station that they were assigned to and some even recognized him and salutes at him. He salutes back while walking and sees that this place was much better than the throne room. 'Phew.... finally escaped those girls... they were all over me that it was starting to get boring...' he thought and adjusted his glasses and looks up at the sky. He walks over to the gazebo and then sat on one of the chairs and relaxes himself. Making himself comfortable. "Should I congratulate Daniel for being crowned today? I bet he's already dead tired with his forced smile." he chuckled and lean back on the chair.

I Spy? That would get boring pretty quickly... Aiko smiled along with Mioko. Mioko spied... something that started with the letter M. She pointed up in the air. Her sleeve went down. There was a scar on her arm. Aiko was about to narrow her eyes and ask where it came from, but she stopped herself. People were watching. Aiko instead to hold of Mioko’s hand, forcing them to stay down in the most subtle way possible. She looked around the room, trying to look like she was in deep thought.

“Uhh... men?”

Pathetic, she knew, but it started with m and was in the room so it worked.

"I would rather be in my study... I don't drink and I find this music rather irritating."
He smiled "I'll help you out and walk away before anyone can notice then you can say we never met." he nodded his head and started to walk back towards the throne and started to think that Clotilde wasn't coming and that was probably for the best his mother would flip.

Charles swallowed what was left of his wine "Princess Mai same as ever I see," He watched Daniel walk away as he forces a smile. Charles was known for his charming ways and ruining a women's virtue all around the country but Mai was the one woman he didn't want to sleep with. He called for another cup of wine and swallowed it "Keep them coming he told the servant," and tipped her a gold coin. "Did you hear about our engagement? I and Daniel have been discussing the terms of our alliance and that what he came up with."

Mai watches her brother walk away and turn to Charles, who somehow was drowning himself with wine. "Oh what? Were engaged?" she asked and knew that they were engaged. It was for the country. "Hm, well I guess it's only right." she said and stopped him from drinking wine and snatches it from his hand before drinking it herself. "If it's for our alliance then I'll gladly be engaged to you, or anyone who my brother sees fits to be my husband." her smile was a bit different from her usual ones it looked a bit lonely. Mai sighed "A princess must be a lady. A princess must do what is right for the kingdom. If it's for the better of our kingdom and our family, then so be it." she grins and gives the empty cup back to Charles.

Despite to what she was telling Charles, back then and even now, she still wants to marry someone she truly loved. She still hasn't found anyone yet to really give her heart out. Sure men tried asking her hand in marriage, she would either refuse of her brother will scare them away. She's glad to have a brother like Daniel. "Oh sorry about that, looks like I ended up drinking your wine, here." she asked for one from one of the servants and then gives it to Charles. "Here you go." she said.

I was hoping to avoid meeting anyone here...ugh men are so disgusting, but my people are at war with each other and if I do not get them the support they need to keep fighting...well my father will lose," she laments and looks down sadly. "I wish I could be on the front lines fighting alongside the men. My father felt it was too dangerous for me after my last injury so he put me in the role of getting the support of the new king in this country. You wouldn't happen to know how I could convince him to marry me do you?" She half heartedly jokes and laughs. She didn't want to be here along with it seemed every other teenager, but she had a mission and she was going to complete it at all costs.

"I am not the same boy you knew I am a man now and I have things I will expect from a woman," Charles crossed his arms "Drinking like a man was at the top of my list." He said in a sarcastic tone "But I want a lady someone I can take walking through my kingdom and have all the other men envious someone who speaks and room can't help but to listen." He looked Mai up and down "You have the looks but when you open your mouth it reminds me of your drunk brother." Charles thought about his words "Wait... Princess, I apologize maybe your brother was right you are an honorable lady now and I should give you a chance can we dance?"

Mai felt like she was just stabbed when he commented her about her looks and her words and just smiled at the blonde in front of her. She merely chuckled thinking about her pranks and teasing days with Charles and said. "I guess you're right about me being the same old Mai, right?" she shrugs "But please bear with me for now." she said calmly when a man approaches her and bows to both her and Charles. "Princess Mai, it's been so long." the man laughed as he let himself kiss her hand and look at her like she was a prey. "Lord Devin, it has, hasn't it?" she was back to her princess mode and gave him a fake smile. "My you have grown so beautifully, just like your mother. I expect great accomplishments from you, just like your brother, alright?" his hand still holding onto her hand. Mai notices his eyes and had a bit of a shock and steps back. 'Calm down Mai... you're surrounded by a lot of people, it's fine... just keep calm...' she continues to smile and said "Thank you for coming, Lord Devin... I-" she was cut off when Lord Devin's wife called out to him as he got startled and said "Ahaha, it was nice meeting you again Princess Mai, I'll excuse myself now." he said, nervously and hurries over to his wife's side.

Mai watches him let go of her hand as she notices her hand trembling. She hides it with her sleeve and sighs. "Uhm... so anyway Prince Charles.." she stopped as her face turned pale and her hands couldn't stop trembling. Just thinking about those days has immediately made Mai tremble in fear. ".. what were talking about again? Sorry we got interrupted." she continued to smile. proper as a lady. Proper like a princess.

Mioko was rather shocked when her arm was suddenly pulled down, she didn't seem to feel any pain from it, as though the injury were old and simply lingered, as Aiko gave her what appeared to be overly obvious answer the other female in return actually nodded eagerly, "Y-Yeah! Wow, how did you guess Aiki? You're soooo smart you're amazing!~" She said cheerfully, she seemed impressed with every little thing the girl did, heck she could probably scream and hit Mioko and she'd still compliment the strength of her palm, hugging the other tightly in an excited manner, seeming quite genuinely happy.
