The Kidnapped Princess

Lucian managed to get the both of them up and safely over the castle walls without alerting a single guard. But he still wouldn't call his plan a success until they were safely out of the borders of the kingdom. He traveled along the darkened corner of alley ways where the light of the moon couldn't expose him. He eventually made it to an old, weather beaten Inn situated in the corner of the slums. He wrapped the princesses' body fully with his cloak and swung her over his shoulder like a sack. The Inn keeper glanced at her as Lucian explained that it was only dirty laundry. He walked up the creaking steps and entered his room. It was about as big and as wide as a broom closet. He sighed as he set the princess down on the bed and picked a nice and comfortable spot on the wooden floor.

Near dawn the next morning Azule's eyes fluttered open. She glanced around the room and then sat up abruptly. Where was she?!

Gazing around the small room she saw a guy sleeping on the floor. What in the world? Slowly, as if trying not to wake him, she edged off the bed and toward the door nervously. She was still in all her clothes from the day and night before.

If he hadn't woken yet, she would try to open the door, and if it wasn't locked she would edge out into the hallway and her gaze would dart around. She had no idea where she was. And the man on the floor would probably be waking up soon, if he hadn't already.

If she had gotten this far, she would quickly make her way down a hall to t

he main room, where the Inn keeper was cleaning the counter. He looked to her and gaped.

"Where am I?" She would demand.

Lucian had awoke the moment the princess had sat up on her makeshift cot. He lay there in complete ease as he waited for the incompetent girl to make way for the door. Before her hand could so as much touch the handle, Lucian had reappeared right behind her. He slammed his hand on the door and leaned in to whisper in her ear.

"I see, your majesty is awake" He muttered, his breath rustling her white locks.

She flinched away with a small shriek of surprise. Azule stared at him in complete terror, which slowly turned to anger. Enough anger to demand, "Where am I." It was not a question, and she glared at him now.

He gazed at her bright blue eyes lit with defiance. He turned away, running a hand through his hair and yawning.

"Still on Carthian soil, your majesty" Lucian responded.

"Why am I not in my own room?" She quired, hands on her hips. Then she gazed at him expectantly for an answer.

"Take a wild guess"

This was one of Lucian's first missions that involved kidnapping and actually keeping the said hostage alive. He was used to compliant immigrants as he smuggled them through borders but not this. Lucian was a man of many talents but not one of social interactions.

She glared, already having an idea in mind. She was probably being kidnapped. Why else would someone take her in the middle of the night and basically trap her in some unknown place? For a sleepover? She didn't think so.

"This is absurd." She stated, tone showing her pure annoyance and anger.

(( I will be out of town for the next few days, so I won't get to rp much if at all))

(( I leave in an hour or so.. But after that... ;-; *obsessed with roleplaying* lol))

Lucian held back the urge to laugh at her amusing display of irritation. Was she complaining to him about her current condition? With narrowed red eyes he slowly made his way towards her until their faces were nearly touching.

"And tell me, you'r Majesty, what is so absurd?"

((Welcome back))

"This. As I just said." She replied with a fierce glare. She took a step back and crossed her arms over her chest. She wanted to demand being taken back home, but doubted she would get anywhere close to doing so.

She studied his face a moment, and noticed small horns poking out of his head. A demon perhaps? Why would a demon kidnap her?

"Than I suggest you better get used to it" He retorted. Lucian had expected a scared, pampered little princess not a stubborn one. He sits down on the creaking bed and gestures for her to sit down. "I'll answer three questions now, no more no less but this will be you'r only chance to ask them".

At first, Azule didn't respond or even move, but eventually she huffed softly and hesitantly sat down. Not near him of course, but as far as she could get on the bed.

"Fine then, I expect three honest answers in return." Then, she asked her first question, "Why did you kidnap me...?"

"Money" He raised an eyebrow at her offended expression. "You wanted honest answers and I'm giving them to you".

Lucian raises three fingers and puts one down.

"Only two more questions left"

"Where are you taking me... Or is this the destination?" She raised an eyebrow, trying not to appear annoyed or offended, which was how she was feeling at the moment. She was probably just a stubborn, and possibly annoying package for all he cared.

"The neighboring kingdom of Avenia" Lucian answered. They had offered him mounds of gold and silver with the specific instructions of the safe delivery of the princess. It was a dangerous task but with a more than promising reward.

The stubbornness inside of her wanted to say, nope, not going to happen! and then sprint out of the room before he could even react, but demons seemed to be light on their feet, so she probably wouldn't get very far. Darn it, she thought.

Now, this was her last question, so she hesitated. Maybe why? Or how he proposed to get her there? Nah.

"Who are you?" She inquired after a long few seconds.

Only a tiny sliver of shock seemed to register on Lucian's face until he wiped it clean of emotions. His real name had been cursed, bestowed him by a vengeful witch. Whoever he told the name to would lose all memory of him during the time they would sleep. A thick, eerie silence seemed to settle around the room as shadows shifted and darkened even in broad daylight. Lucian crossed the distance between them with such ease that he wondered if she had even seen him move at all. He lifted a pale hand and wrapped a finger around one of her many, white curls.

"Would you like to find out?" He asked, red eyes flashing dangerously.

Azule flinched as he was suddenly right next to her, and touching her hair. She was silent as he asked a question, and she made eye contact as she asked, "Is that a threat?"

His appearance remained stoic as he took in her seemingly calm demeanor. Lucian could sense fear hidden deep beneath her glassy facade and silently applauded her bravery. Though she was still predictable, she wasn't as susceptible as he had originally thought.

"Lucian" He stated, ignoring her previous question. It had been a challenge disguised as a threat.

"Normally, I would introduce myself in return, but you should already know my name. If not, it's your own loss." She said this smoothly, then stood up and walked to the other side of the room and calmly leaned against a wall and examined the room properly. She ignored Lucian momentarily.

Azule's father had told her if ever tormented, trapped, or kidnapped, she was to stay calm. The kidnapper -or anyone else- usually seemed to feed off fear, and the situation would only turn out worse rather than staying calm.

"Yes and your name holds no title nor significance to me" Lucian retaliated. He rose from the bed and reached under the mattress to pull out a small leather satchel. He tossed the bag in front of the princess' feet.

"In the slums however, your name would get you killed" Lucian warned "The rich, especially the royal are not welcomed by the poor but hated. Either disguise yourself or test the truth of my words"

There were many murderers like him that prowled the dirtied streets but unlike them, Lucian preferred to kill quickly and without pain. Others were not as merciful.
