welcome to my interest thread! Honestly did not know what to name it so in honour of the twenty minutes I spent searching through my junk drawer to find a mouse to make this all easier I have dubbed this thread the junk drawer.
about me: I'm Ed, my pronouns are she/her, and I'm 21 years old. I'm a University student in my second year who is hoping to graduate in 2025! I've been roleplaying off and on for about three years and whilst somewhat inexperienced, especially on this site, I'd consider myself literate. My style tends to be third person/past tense with a length of around 1500 words although it can vary depending on where in the roleplay we are - more descriptive situations getting that up to heights of 3000 words and more dialogue focused situations going down to around 1200 but the numbers are never exact. I'll try my best to match your length and keep my writing clear and coherent although I will readily admit that run on sentences are a nasty habit I'm working on overcoming. I'll write male or female characters and I don't mind if you wish to do a more romantic or platonic pairing although in the case of the former I'd ask for a slower burn. Side characters are also a fun way of expanding the world and preventing burnout with the "mains," so I'm always down to include those as well!
my posts would be better in the spelling/grammar/organisation department than this as this interest check feels a bit chaotic.

about you: Whilst I'm sorry to those this will exclude I'm firmly 18+, it's nothing against those who are younger or a doubting of their abilities but given the subject matter that often comes up in some of the fandoms I'm seeking I'm just not comfortable exploring them with anyone younger than that. Ideally you would somewhat match my length and have decent grammar as it is disheartening to work on a post and write 1500 words and get around 400 in response. Plotting and chatting will help us both feel more comfortable and keep the story alive, I find when only one person is throwing ideas around it can lead to the other party not really being able to get invested? I don't expect you to make every decision but this is a team effort and I'd like us to both get to explore and write what we want to within these settings. If you're comfortable I'll gladly go mad about the rp with you with moodboards and playlists and memes but that isn't a must, however, plotting together very much is.
if that works for you then please have a nosey at the settings and if they seem like something you'd be interested in then just comment below or shoot me a message! And if there's anything I've forgotten then feel free to ask for clarification!

- I have a preference for ocxoc for most of these, unless otherwise stated, and us using these to explore the fandoms below and put our own spin on it.
- Ideally canons would be doubling with us both playing a canon against each other (platonic or romantic, honestly very interested in the former) but if you wish to pitch a canon x oc situation then whilst I can't promise a yes I will hear it out.
- Likely more to be added as there's a few I'm still working out general ideas for!
**A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon - I've been craving something in this universe since finally sitting down and watching House of the Dragon, sating it at the moment by reading Fire & Blood but I'd love to get a roleplay going. There are so many different jumping off points we could explore whether you find yourself interested in a canon divergence setting where we change some key moment or plot beat; Rhaegar/Aerys winning the Dance, the Blackfyre's winning the war, more of Robert's bastards living, Jon making his way South or to Essos instead of the Wall, Rhaenys/Elia/Aegon surviving, Ned Stark marrying someone else or the tragedy at Summerhall being avoided. Or! We pick a start date and make our own characters! Rival houses marrying to bring peace, characters working to overthrow Bran post-GOT, characters trying to climb the ladder for love/money/power, characters infiltrating others courts, characters who may ultimately betray one another, characters destined for a tragic end, characters who will burn the world down to keep themselves warm, characters who will kill for each other/their house, characters who just want those they love to be safe/happy, characters going through our own HOTD type situation, characters in the dance or the war of the five kings or one of the many rebellions. (really the possibilities here are endless.) Or any ideas for this setting that you might have!
canons I'd be willing to play:
please bear in mind most of these are new for me and thus there'll be a learning curve as I feel them out + if someone isn't mentioned feel free to DM and ask but no promises!
- hotd: Alicent Hightower, Aegon II Targaryen.
- asoiaf: Rhaella Targaryen, Elia Martell, the Young Griff/Aegon/F!Aegon, Robb Stark, Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Theon Greyjoy, Shireen Baratheon.
Whilst for you feel free to play whomever you wish! All I ask is the pairing of characters, in the case of cc x cc, make sense or we have a way to make it make sense whether that be a platonic or romantic pairing! And I'm happy to double if you are.
For the various characters who appear in F&B, I'd honestly be down for anyone depending on the plot around them but given so many characters within that are characters we don't know loads about I cannot promise an amazing portrayal from the get go.
In truth this is the one I'm most craving.
His Dark Materials - Grew up adoring the book series and simultaneously obsessed with and frustrated by the movie! The show managed to scratch that itch I had for a mostly faithful adaptation but has left me desperate to explore the world even more! Although you need not be familiar with all three adaptations as long as you have an idea of the setting. I'd be interested in playing around with the children at the station, making our own versions of Lyra and Will/the chosen ones, exploring Lyra's world at large as it is so similar yet different to our own, what happens after events as massive as a war with Heaven for the canon characters? Or a canon divergence situations where things had turned out differently? (Roger lives, Lyra raised by Coulter etc.) Or any ideas you might have!
The Wheel of Time - Admittedly only about two thirds through the first book but I'm up to date on the show and whilst I'm under the impression it isn't the most faithful adaptation in the world the world and the characters have absolutely suckered me in! If you have any sort of idea for this please hit me up! I'm willing to play almost anyone in truth although I'd still prefer there was a more substantial plot than just romance as whilst I enjoy it solely romantic roleplays aren't really my thing. (If you're someone who is knowledgeable about the books I wouldn't worry too much about spoiling me as I'm aware of the history/general setting stuff and some character beats for the later books which I can clarify or honestly you can just spoil away because with the amount I'm reading from people who are talking about the show I'm just absorbing it all anyway!)
