Another year. Another escape from a parallel reality. The summer was over and it was time to begin yet another tenure at Invectus. For Freshmen, they would surely take in the splendor and awe of the amazing private plane before them, bags all packed and excited smiles on their faces as they leave their families and coventional life behind for a new glory and brave new universe. Heck, Camille had to admit... she still rather enjoyed the vibes of leaving the United States for the enthralling world that the planet didn't know existed. It was a luxury and a destiny fit for only the brightest of people. She never understood why North America was the last stop, the order was always the same. Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and then North America. Six different planes, all at its continent's respective sole pickup spot. Invectus paid for all fees for students to get to the specific airport. And then they would be en route to Campus, the world's most prestigious school that no one knows about. Cam was sure it was to give the Freshmen and other foreign students a chance to see the sights of the world, Cam wanted that too... but she was more on about the fact that all the good chairs and sofas were taken by the time she got on board. She gets on to a few new faces from the North American group, and some that she recognized through her first two years at Double I. Some nod at her, but no one keen enough to spark conversation. Cam had sort of a reputation at school for being a Draco Malfoy type of person, but only those who really got to know her would see that she's more of The Weasley Twins mixed with the sass of Harmoine Granger. She was misunderstood, and she partly knew it was because of her abilites. Being marked as an Apex was split into two factions: People either thought you were a rockstar, or people either thought you were a boogeyman. For some reason, the latter stuck with Cam.

The plane takes off as Cam slides in her earphones and began to play music with her phone, letting the cool air and plush seating take her mind away from a summer full of fun. She lived the whole "regular teen" phase, going to a few parties, and swimming, the family trip with her mom who she adored, but being exposed to the lifestyle of Double I made everything else conventional seem so... mundane.

The songs settle into Cam's brain as she fades away from consciousness, and endless flow of emotional flux and thoughts as her black void comes one with the sounds of her ears. She was in another dimesnion, it wasn't dreaming, but it was sheer blackout. She felt, she was subconsciously aware, and wherever she was, she felt light and heavy at the same time. Sleep. It was overrated and underrated at the same time, but in her slumber she felt the approach of a new dawn, a new day, and another year at The Invectus Institute.

Cam lies floating in a vast and endless void of black and space. No sound, not senses but sight. She floats ever so gracefully and free, as her body feels as if it's of nothingness. She turns and looks all around her, seeing nothing. She could not speak, but also felt no need to. The backside of her begins to light up, as the source of illumination forms and she turns her head to look and see two very large and powerful orange suns. They shined so vividly and radiant, much too strong for human eyes. However, Cam could look right at them and feel nothing but purpose. She smiles a bit as they continue to enlighten her body.

And then her body tensed and seized up. She was no longer floating, but more stuck in the dark abyss. The suns suddenly start to lose their solar energy and take the shape of a light that was more piercing. More now like that of two cosmic eyes looking right through Camille to her soul. They got brighter, as Cam's heart starts to pound away. Piercing, staring into her.

She not only felt she was being watched, but being targeted.

Cam lurches forward from her rest as the other students who were awake eye her with caution. Her head had a slight twinge of burden as she sighed and shook it off. She looks out of the window to see that they were flying over pure ocean, the captain and pilot speaking that they were almost at the epicenter of the world, where the equator and prime meridian meet. The location of Campus. She knew what was about to happen next...the poor Freshmen. She could only think back to when it was her first year, and the pilots did "The Dive." How Cam wished the upperclassmen would've told her to relax and that it will all be okay, as opposed to trolling and freaking out acting as if everyone on the plane was going to die. The damn Dive. It never got old, even after two annuals of doing it going to Campus. Cam sighed and looked around at all the North American Freshman who were about to probably piss themselves.

Pilot: This is your pilot speaking, we are currently approaching epicenter where equator and prime meridian meet, please prepare for landing soon.

"Oh boy."

The plane abruptly drops, the students eating and drinking lunging their items and effects from their body to grab onto their chairs. Seatbelts and restraints of body lock into place as the gripped students go into a freak out. The steep drop suddenly rushes the Potents' stomachs into their chests, that roller coaster feeling as screams of Freshman and ever some older students begin to spread all through the plane. The ocean below becomes much much closer as the velocity of the plane becomes terminal. Cam grips the seat with all force of life in her body as she tenses up and squints for the heightened anxiety in her senses. She breathes deeply and hears the engine of the plane reach max sound as the ocean was getting larger, the impact very close. Poor Freshmen scream and cry as some students troll while others comfort. The damn Dive.

"Screw this diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!"

Cam exclaims as the plane nears the crash of water, unknowing students meeting fate and their appearance of the grim reaper as they probably wonder why it all had to end like this.

And then the water suddenly splits open, a whirlpool vortex forming around the plane in a tunnel like manner. And on the other end... another sky can be seen with a location. A beautiful and prominent location. Campus. They had arrived at Invectus Institute.
II.jpg

The plane flies into the waterfall below Campus, as it opens up to a docking station airstrip of sorts, the plane lowering its tires and landing with grace and skill. The huffs and puffs from hyperventilated Freshmen and Potents filled the place, as there were a few who were clapping and cheering from the thrill of the event. Happens every year. Cam in particular always lurches her head back in relief, followed by a faint laugh at the adrenaline of it all. This year, she did the same, and added an extra head shake at the end. She could only await to see the other potents from other planes demeanor once getting off their planes. The new year was here, and it was time to engage again in another adventure of academic and extranatural education.

No one knowing this year would become different. The difference.

Ezekiel's day began like any other day. At 6 am he was wakened up by one of his brothers jumping on his stomach to wake up, resulting in him getting up gasping for air. Soon after his brother saw that his job was done he went away and left Ezekiel to his own devices. Ezekiel took this moment of silence to once more fall flat on the bed again looking at the ceiling, a single tear left his right eye, but not because of his unsatisfaction with the event, no quite the opposite. He was grateful for only having one of his little brothers jump on him to wake him up instead of all of them at once.

After that moment of appreciation, he finally got out his bed. He proceeded to head to the kitchen first, as everyone else in the family would rush the bathroom and he would be left to make breakfast for everyone. He got in the kitchen and much to his surprise he wasn't the only one there, but the head priest of the church, a brittle old man with a pale complexion, sipping his coffee while reading the daily newpaper was also there, atleast 1 hour before he would usually wake up. Ezekiel didn't take as much and after saying hi to the old man only to be acknowledged by a muffled mhmm, as the old man was engrossed in his paper. Again after a tired sigh Ezekiel gave up on trying to make contant with the estranged being and went to make breakfast.

A few minutes in the future we find Ezekiel counting all of the food he had made for his adopted famiy before they poured in the kitchen and overwhelmed him; "Ok so, 2 fried eggs with a soft yolk for the young twins, 2 french toasts... toasts? Is that even a word?" he said as he got confused a little bit. "Anyways carrying on, 10 cups of tea at exactly 98 degrees celcius, 3 cup of warm milk and a black coffee for the resident edgy, most "mature" member of the family." as a slight laugh excaped his voice which was soon answered by a scream of a prebuscent teen that could be heard from a mile away about how he was mature. "That's what I said didn't I?" As he cackled, a reliefed sigh left his body again. Everything for his trip was prepared, he had a list of emergency contacts ready for the priest if need be, he had given the kid's teachers the permission to keep them after school if they screwed up, and where to find them if they decided to bunk school.

And at exactly 7:39, Ezekiel likes to count the time in his head since he can't always have the time on hand, the children begun pouring in and with almost mechanical precision Ezekiel dodged every single of the bodies pilling in the kitchen and made his way to the bathroom. And again with almost eerily rigid movements he did his routine, take a 8 minute 39 second shower, wash your teeth and face for the rest 1 minute 11 seconds. That then is followed by him changing into his his usual attire, a nice pair of black trousers with nice leather shoes, with his outfit being finished by a extremily eccentric black shirt, and by eccentric I mean just a normal black shirt but when you wear white shirts 9/10 times a change in color is a big change. And of course we cannot forget the generic white collor worn by all members of the clergy.

For the remaining 11 minutes of free time he had until 8 Ezekiel made his way to the chapel where he would do his daily praying to god, you know praying for the usual things, health, luck. But today his usual prayer was spiced up, much like his attire, by a request to keep the members of the parish, the only family he has alive, happy and safe. Satisfied with his prayer and with a smile on his face he made his way back to the living quarters and found the kitchen actually clean and not savaged by hungry children. Instead he was left in a awe that all the kids were washing their own dishes and packing up the table, even the old priest was helping! Ezekiel obviously had to slap himself on the face to make sure that he was in fact alive and he was not taken by God to heaven. And much to his continued surprise this was real.

The children after being done all came to Ezekiel and gave him a big hug, to give him a farewell or to suffocate him to death either could be a likely reason why. Soon after the car came to pick him up so he can go the airport, and after a final fairwell he begun his new academic year...

A few hours later the car carrying him arrived at the airport and he begun walking to the gate, or he would do so if he knew where the gate actually was. Much to his dicontent he went to the helping desk and asked a staff member for his gate. The clearly ticked off staff assistant after a tired sigh gave a look to the board pass, and he gulped in surprise and then looked surprised at Ezekiel like he couldn't believe something. Before Ezekiel could politely ask why he was oogling so much, he was tapped on the shoulder.

He found a nicely dressed, 6'8 flight attendant who asked if he was Ezekiel Babette which Ezekiel responded with a confused nod. So after a polite smile he was manhandled to the private airplane that would carry him to his destination. Inside of there he found many other students who either showed confusion similar to Ezekiel's or older students who clearly weren't first years. Much to his surprise the airplane was rather empty so he took a empty window spot next to the door and quietly awaited for his destination.

Multiple hours passed and according to the pilot they found themselves in america, Ezekiel disinterested looked at the people entering in, until a specific lady, entered in who seemed important. Ezekiel was about to give her a politely hello only to be stopped by a student next to him who was clearly a upper classman. "Hey man, if I were you I wouldn't start chit chat with that chick... she's a bit. Terryfing? Yea terrifyng.".

Clearly confused Ezekiel decided to listen to his upper classman and stood put for the rest of the trip. Unfortunately for him he fell asleep during the flight only to find himself woken up by his face coming up in contact with the sit infront of him. Very drowsy he looked through the window to see how they were approaching the sea, which after a few seconds of his brain trying to comprehending the situation he said; "Pardon?".

And with that the plane entered the Vortex and landed, Ezekiel compared to his fellow classmen got out of the plane and had a little bit of a stretch, and then told himself to not drink milk again before going to sleep.

With that his new school life begun.

Summer break has ended, yet Chun-Hei was still studying, making sure to keep up with everything she learned the year before. After she was marked as an Apex, it was as id a new hurdle was created for her to get over in order to make friends. The first year was mainly spent studying, this year will be the same unless things change. Either way, she was fine with it since she needed to focus on her goal in life. The familiar meow from her pet cat made her look down from her book as she noticed the gray cat rubbing against her leg. "You always know when I'm leaving, don't you?" she asked the feline which earned her another cry from the cat. Chun-Hei closed her book and picked him up, "I would take you if I could, but then who would look after Aunt Mina?"

"An! The car is here! Time to leave!" aunt Mina called out from downstairs. Chun-Hei gave the cat a few more pets before putting him down on her bed. Taking the book she was reading before and headed down to where her aunt was waiting for her. "You have everything you need right?" Mina asked, knowing all too well how much Chun-Hei needs her notes. "Yeah, I made sure to pack that ahead of time, I also have them stored on my hard drives," she answered. Chun-Hei quickly took her two suitcases, which was mainly filled with books, and walked tot he car that will be taking her to the airport. Taking out one of the black books from her bag she began to write details from the day, ready to take notes on the students.

Like the year before, she followed the flight attendant who guided her to the private jet and took the first seat that was as and secluded. No one would recall who she was as she just continued to either read or jot down notes. As more and more students began to enter she took just watching them all, no one even looking over at her. Even when she noticed Camille enter the plane, everyone seemed to avoid her. She knew why they did it. It was the same reason people avoided her as well when they hear that she was marked. Chun-Hei was used to being alone but she could sense that Camille didn't or rather she would like for someone to actually not see her a monster.

Chun-Hei never liked sleeping on the plane. Whenever she did, she couldn't stop anyone from accidentally bump into her. She never knew why, when she was young, people could just forget she was there until she came to Double I. Her power allowed her to be invisible in a way unless she made sure to make other see her. That wasn't the only reason why she doesn't sleep on these flights. The Dive was the wake call that no one wants to experience. So when she heard the pilot announce that they are nearing the Epicenter, she leaned back and closed her eyes, readying herself for the drop. Like clockwork, freshmen began to freak out as several of older students did as well. Chun-Hei swallowed her screams as she held tight tot he armrests of her seat, waiting for them to level out once more.

When they finally did, Chun-Hei quickly opened her eyes and looked out the window to see Campus. She was finally home, the one place where finally felt like she had a purpose. She looked back to the others on the plane as she let out a small laugh at the pale faces. She knew she had a pale face as well, but seeing it on the others made it feel like they are finally apart of the family. We have all experienced our near death from the Dive, it was like a rite of passage. Looking out the window once more as the plane landed, Chun-Hei announced under her breath, "Welcome to the party."

Luis never thought he'd miss The Dive. On his first year - still a starry-eyed Freshie, unsure what to expect from such a prestigious school - the sudden roar of the airliner and its turbulent shaking were enough to almost immediately pitch Luis into a panic state. It was only after he had swung his head to look out and see the cascading falls from his window seat that he had realized two things: either he was very dead, or very alive - and this so-called institute was way more mysterious than he'd ever expected. The latter thought was confirmed when he realized his surrounding peers were already beginning to laugh, albeit nervously, and the senior next to Luis was grinning.

"Looking a little pale there, bud," the senior had teased, eyes twinkling. "What, didn't like The Dive?"

He'd harbored an indescribable grudge towards The Dive the second time around, his sophomore year, but found that its associated terror was not nearly as impactful. Sure, his stomach still lurched into his throat when the plane began its steep descent, yet he recovered quickly enough to watch the beautiful transition from vortex to sky. He even managed a tight smile when the other Potents began to applaud and cheer. Junior year was like a blur - determined to not do so much as grimace, Luis had shut his eyes and leaned into the rock music piping from his earbuds. The whole fiasco was over in what felt like a heartbeat.

Now, his senior year, Luis was shocked to find that he viewed the once-terrifying drop with a twinge of nostalgia. Sadness, even. There was something about that type of thrill ride that couldn't be found in a theme park, he supposed. Maybe he'd have time to shake the pilot's hand before disembarking. For now, though, Luis could do nothing but fold his hands in his lap and smile as the familiar roar of the airliner's engines filled his ears, mingling with the sudden shrieks of horror from the unacquainted. At least I never screamed. When the plane finally stabilized, Luis was among those who applauded, which he did with a crooked grin - just like the senior four years ago. The circle of life begins anew, he thought, stretching his arms over his head to relieve tension. It was fun while it lasted. Catch you next year, plane.

Luis took in the faces around him. Some were old, some were new. All were here for the same binding reason - their Vis. All had received the same letter to the Invectus Institute, and all had accepted. I suppose that makes socialization easier when everyone's experiences are alike. He winked at one of the still-shaken freshman, waved to a fellow Mentifer, then began collecting his personal belongings as the plane rolled out its landing gear.

Luis traveled light, to say the least. Many of his precious belongings were left untouched in his dorm room, but he always brought new trinkets with him to ring in the new school year. This time, he stowed new clothing, several new motor magazines, and new workshop tools to replace the ones he had broken the previous year. When the plane finally slowed to a full stop, Luis disengaged his seat belt and stood up to open his overhead compartment, passing down several heavy luggage crates before reaching his own pack. A basic messenger bag, he slung it around his shoulder, patting its side pocket to make sure his phone was still there. Students were already beginning to file out. Merging into the aisle, Luis slowly made his way to the front. The pilot was nowhere to be seen - much to Luis's disappointment - but one of the flight attendants was present and beaming, whose hand he shook politely before descending onto the runway.

The wind was surprisingly calm today. It still ruffled his hair with periodic gusts, but it was at least tolerable this year. He had to squint against the sun as he walked with a crowd, scanning his fellow peers for any friendly faces. Finding the flow of people too chaotic to distinguish, he gave up, straightened his blue tee, and began his walk to the Institute's entrance.
Fourth year, Luis. Better make it a good one.

New year. New me.

Romeo stared out of the window of the Invectus Institute owned private plane, a small smile plastered on his lips. Although he was an Invectus junior, having attended the school since Freshman year, he couldn't help but feel the familiar magical sensation he felt everytime he boarded the huge, luxury plane. Who wouldn't? While most kids his age traveled to school on smelly, stuffed school buses, or on old used cars, he went to school in a private jet that took him to a mysterious institute in an undisclosed location in the middle of the sea. Not many people can say that.

No one knew Invectus existed, not even his own parents who thought their only son was accepted to a private, academically rigorous boarding school. No one knew that it was an academy built to train young high school students who hosted a very rare gene that gave them superpowers called Vis. One that set them apart from every other human being in the planet.
But it was this that made the experience all the better. It was like a big secret he shared with only a handful of the population.

Before he knew it, the plane was preparing to undergo the 'Dive.' A term that Invectus students invented to explain when the plane went between the equator and prime meridian. To most, it was a fearsome, tumultuous experience and a rite-of-passage, to Romeo it was fun. He enjoyed the experience because he knew that it was something that only he and a few other people would experience in their entire lives. Something that one could reminisce about to their kids or grandkids. Once you got over that inital overwhelming fear of dying, it was just like an amusement park ride. Albeit, one that was out of this world. Besides, Romeo liked seeing the frightened look in the Freshmans eyes as they experienced the 'Dive' for the first time.

The plane soon touched ground, and Romeo could hear the landing gear starting to unravel. Soon the pilots voice was heard through the intercoms announcing the end of the flight. Romeo couldn't help but feel slightly glum knowing that as a Junior there would only be a few more times he would be able to experience it. A few Vocifer house members bumped fists with him as they moved along the alley. Romeo joined them when there was space available for him to merge.

Sighing quietly as he moved along, he couldn't help but feel somewhat nostalgic.

New year, new me.

Riley McLaughlin
For someone like Riley, the summer break that he had from Double I was.. literally his regular life. For most people, the traveling that he did, going around Spain, it was his every day life. Well, at least as of a year ago. You know, before he was accepted into Double I for being a Potent. He had powers like many others that led him to be at this lovely, secretive little institute. But you already know all about that.. right? Well, anyways, Riley spent his summer break jumping into his parent’s arms before throwing the two bags he brought back from school into the RV and making their way off. Most of their time was spent in Ceuta, a city on the northern coast of Africa. Details aren’t important, though. Riley enjoyed his vacation - it was time well spent with his family. His two parents consisting of that family, anyways. A family away from the family that he’d grown close to before summer break.

The friends that Riley made at Invectus Institute were special to him. Just as he’d been told in his acceptance video, he was told that he’d make a new family. A promise that was kept quite well. Fun fact, as Riley always wants people to know this because it tends to freak them out a little bit. Or maybe it’s his eagerness and flood of energy that freaks them out a little bit. Or maybe his strange bright green eyes.. okay, well, he has psionic abilities. As he’d like to put it. Sorta like a psychic. It’s his vis, his powers - probability zone creation. He’ll actually brag about it but then if you really think about it, he might be cheating a little bit if you play against him in a sport. He could literally jinx your play if he wanted to. But you’d have no proof if you called him out on making you lose a game. Riley’d just go on to say you suck. ‘Cause in his opinion, he’s always the number one champ. Trust these words, though, if you take it to far he’ll get extremely angry.

An angry Riley is not a good Riley.

Riley’s family was spot on time to the airport to catch his flight. Considering they’d been in Ceuta, this time around he caught the plane in Africa. Usually he’d go with the trip in Europe but nobody’s complaining. He probably wouldn’t talk much anyways. He waved eagerly to his parents as far as he could have seen them until they were out of sight, boarding the plane and slipping his bag beneath his seat. He sat there, waiting. Unsure of what exactly to do. But he did definitely get some first dips on the seats on the plane. The comfiest seats he’d ever put his butt in. “Time to go to Double I.. sexy little power school.” He hummed to himself, hoping that nobody else had really heard him. All of his energy was depleting a bit and he instead leaned his head against the window to his right to look outside.

Eventually, Riley’s peaceful trip was cut short. It was time to get to the location of the actual school’s campus. That was gonna take a sharp turn. Riley glanced around, seeing a few familiar faces from the Pathifer house but most were unrecognizable whether they were Freshman or simply people he hadn’t interacted with. “Get your seatbelts on, Potents. Don’t try too hard to kick back and relax for the rest of the ride.” He said under his breath, folding his arms over his face and leaning back to feel as safe as he possibly could. “Why isn’t there a warning on this plane for everyone’s sake!” Despite his words coming out more as a question, Riley had let out a loud yell as the plane had done its little dive to the campus. Literally nobody was warned of this part of their trip. Everything felt like a normal luxurious plane ride to school until the dive came. An unexpected, stupid dive. It always left Riley with a headache.

When the plane flew into the docking station, Riley pumped his fist into the air, letting out a few coughs of reluctance when the seatbelts unbuckled to allow him to stand up. “Good job, guys, I knew you could do it.” Riley said with a wavering smile, eyes crossed and head swimming as he reached below his seat to grab his bag and stand up. “I’m not sure if I love this place more than it annoys me sometimes..” He sighed, rubbing at his face as he trudged off of the plane in search of someone that he could talk to. A friend, at least.

“Don’t give me that look,” The old man warned the young girl in a worn and gruff voice, briefly looking up at her in the mirror. Hotaru crossed her arms and looked away from him with an expression of clear disdain. Her lips were pressed together in a pout as she clicked her tongue at him. Her grandfather glanced back at the girl, readjusted his tie, and then patted her head to reassure her, “It's not that bad, trust me.” He stepped back from the large mirror and rubbed his chin. No gramps, it’s really bad. Mr. Nakamura was wearing a white tie with the fire emoji tiled across it. He was clearly punishing her by “supporting” her in such an embarrassing way. The fire emoji symbolized the sigil of her House, Pathifer. Hotaru shifted from one foot to the other and pointed at his tie, “What, this? What’s wrong with it?” Hotaru quickly threw him a different tie and left the bedroom in a hurry before he could reject the tie she picked out.

She closed the door behind her and headed towards her bedroom. The cold air escaped from the room, inviting the feeling of wanting to go hug her bed sheets before the Double I car came to collect her and her belongings. She groaned and plopped face first into the bed. Maybe she could close her eyes and take a quick na--

“Hotaru! The car’s here!” The young girl slammed her head back down into the bed and kicked her legs around to vent out her frustrations. She must have been too excited the night before because Hotaru was unable to sleep at all. Hotaru rolled onto her back and stared up at the ceiling. She quickly hopped out of bed and grabbed her bags. Her bangs were disheveled from the tossing and turning. Sighing, she escaped the comfort of her room and confronted her grandfather.

His tie was still the awful fire emoji and he was acting like nothing was wrong. How dare he defy Hotaru’s direct orders? Can’t he see that she was clearly trying to help him by making sure he does not embarrass himself? She gave him a look and dropped her backpack on the ground by the door, showing that she was not impressed by his actions. The corner of his mouth tugged upwards as he shrugged. Hotaru hmphed and spun around on her heels, “Hold on a second.” He reached out for her sleeve, “If someone is leaving, you must do a proper goodbye.”

Hotaru grimaced and stuck out her tongue at him. No way was she going to hug him or even associate with him now. Her grandfather saw this, grumbled, and carried her bags out. Hotaru tightly pressed her lips into a line and gave in. She can give him a hug, but she will not forgive him easily. As the old man hunched over to place the luggage down, Hotaru quickly wrapped her arms around him. Before he could say anything to her, Taru grabbed her bags and shoved herself inside the car. The old man chuckled and crossed his arms, nodding in a way to show that he was saying goodbye. His friendly disposition changed when he saw Hotaru hold up his wallet. She had sneakily grabbed his wallet during the hug. The car quickly sped off to the airport before the old man could stop them.

Hotaru settled into her seat, sinking into the plush cushion. The car still had the new car smell, it was almost intimidating to the girl. What if she spills something in here? Oh well, she had her grandpa's wallet if something goes wrong. I wonder how much he left me.. Flipping the wallet open, she was met with disappointment.

Almost like he knew that she was going to take his wallet away, he was prepared to leave nothing but a note inside. With very intricate and flourished italic cursive writing, he wrote:
Dear Hotaru Nakamura,
You little yāoguǐ.

You might have fooled me once with this so called practical joke before; however, you are lacking in originality. You have already stolen my wallet, therefore I had the upperhand in preparing for this crime of yours. Alright, putting my nagging aside, I wish you good luck in this new school year. Do not worry, I will be able to see you soon.
...No. I will not get an expensive boat to visit you. Nor will I buy a plane. You may stop asking about it.

Just remember to clean your room
-Sugimoto Nakamura

Hotaru pressed the note up to her face and shrunk into the seat....I can sleep on the plane, right?

No, she was unable to sleep on the plane. There were too many students excited for the trip. The Freshmen were clamoring amongst each other with an air of new promise. Honestly, Hotaru was a bit excited to see the new and the old. The girl bounced a bit on the plush seats before rocking her legs back and forth. Subconsciously, she began to listen to the other students, mostly upperclassmen, murmuring about something going wrong with the plane. As if on cue, the pilot said something about reaching the epicentre and landing over the intercom. The freshmen perked up from this, slowly turning pale. Hotaru would have dearly wanted to clarify that there was nothing wrong with the plane, but her curiosity and the concept of the futility of explaining something to mass hysteria stopped her.

Well...what’s the worst that could go wrong? It'll just be like last year, where she had suspected that this was some kind of tradition at the school. They almost got her with the prank, almost. If it weren't for their horrid acting skills and, of course, the giggling, they would have done a great job. She felt her shoulder drop once she saw that this year's acting was lacking. Another troupe of B horror films. The girl crossed her legs and grinned as she watched the upperclassmen around her scramble around to get their belts on securely. The Freshmen were still confused about the whole situation. For a brief moment, the plane felt like it was suspended in the air before it dropped. Hotaru could feel her blood rush to her face.

As the nose of the plane pointed straight down, her hair flew forward as she was jerked away from her seat. The belts locked into place, securing the students from flying away. Taru could feel her heart rise into her throat, the pounding feeling up her ears. In fact, she felt like her ears were congested. It might have been a few seconds or a full ten minutes, it still felt like forever. Glancing out the window, she was able to see the ocean split open before her hair obstructed her view. Finally, the plane plateaued, settling her hair down and exposing the Double I campus. Cheers filled the room, Hotaru giggled at this with her lightheadedness affecting her vision.

Closing her eyes for a few moments, she could feel the plane slow down. She blinked a bit and unbuckled the belt. Hotaru let out an obnoxiously loud yawn and stretched her arms. She could hear the freshmen either complaining about the rough landing or praising the pilots for not killing them when they had the chance. Well...you know what they say. Give a man a plane ticket and he’ll fly for a day. Push him off of one and he’ll fly for the rest of his life. She picked up her luggage and held it close to her body.

The plane docks into the facility underneath Double I as the murmurs of the students scatter about the fray of space before them. They would get off the plane to take in the marvel of scenery around them, as if they'd transported to another planet entirely. This was the beginning for them, and the start of a new lifestyle that they would come to never break away from. Cam gathered her belongings and with a stern face (she was known to have RBF on occasion) and proceeded off the plane and into the corridors of the Double I port for further information. She already knew the drill however, so much so that she sort of wanted to just skip the orientation she'd heard two times before already and just move into her suite. She wanted to just leave some stuff so it'd be easier to move in, but now she'd be going into the dorms that were suited for 18 and up. She drags her wonder woman luggage behind her as the collection of students begin to pour into the port building for instruction. The Freshman were all being cast aside from the rest of the bunch, that would assuredly take them towards the upper levels of Campus where they could undergo The Weaving. It was a magical process, and Cam could only remember her fear, excitement, and anxiousness all wrapped in one big adrenaline rush as she had undergone the process to change her humanity forever. She could only watch with envy and also relief at the young crowd, her eyes particularly landing on a young man who would probably be the closest thing to Harry Potter if he were a non-fictional character. Weird. She continued to scope through the Freshman, sort of trying to get the lay of the sort to see any she deemed could have potential. Yes, it was quite superficial to judge based on appearance, but with the body comes the aura, and people's aura she'd come to learn reveals more about them than any test ever could. She also sees another man who did not look a Freshman at all, light skinned and very strong in spirit. Looks like the year's new lineup would be promising. The rest of them, Sophomore and above would certainly be in their own group... a massive army compared to the numbers of the Freshman class. Cam joins in the ranks, spotting a fellow friend she knew from the extracurricular affairs of the school. She spots Taru, a Pathifer with a very bright mind as well as spirit. She also knew her from some other arrangements placed by the Headmasters. She walks up and puts an arm around the playful and mischievous Taru, delivering a small smile to the girl.

"Yo, Taru. Sup. 'Nother year... how was your summer?"

They all fall in as the PA system would take them up towards the main levels of Campus as the guide sorted the Sophomore and above students where to go to move in.

PA: All classes Sophomore and above are as follows: Vocifers please report to Headmaster Asa in the Heart of the Superplex | Mentifers please head to Headmaster Morrow in the North of the Superplex | Pathifers please meet with Headmaster Kinada at the Edge of the Superplex ||

FRESHMAN, please prepare to for The Weaving, your belongings will be taken to your assigned rooms and you will be directed there afterwards. Welcome to Invectus. ||

A nice young woman with a flight attendant uniform clicks her heels against the smooth floor as the Freshmen gather around and become attentive to her presence. She simply cups her hands together and smiles as she scans the clueless, excited, and bewildered audience. A Vocifer tattoo is marked on the back of her hand.

"Hello, my name is Setra Sawyer, and welcome to Invectus Institute! I know you're still a little shaken up from that plane trip but we get everyone like that every year, trust me you should've seen me when I was your age. Panic attack, had to cart me to the infirmary, spent my Freshman debut recovering and underwent the Weaving a day late... anyways! You'll find that your brochure will provide you with information on terminology and terms needed to know. As your belongings are being taken, you all will be transported to The Web, which is the place for the process known as The Weaving. It features three totems of the first of us. The First Vocifer, Mentifer, and Pathifer respectively. It is here where you must face them in order to face yourself, only then will the evoplasm in you be unleashed. I know I know.... sounds ominous but I promise you it's not as bad as it sounds, more of a self reflection really. After you complete your Weaving, you will all be transported to the Gym, where the annual Invectus Initiation Rally will begin, and you will meet our lovely staff, students, Headmaster, and the Dean himself!!!! Now! Who's ready!?"

The cheers and applause of Freshmen go galore, as Setra nods in appeasement and directs the students towards The Web.

And with that, the huge platform elevator capable of holding hundreds of students was on its way up, and it was also surrounded by smaller, more conventional elevators for those who didn't want to be bunched up. Either way they all rose to one location: The Superplex.

SUPERPLEX
istan-checkin.jpg

Cam watched the elevator rise, to meet the light at the end of a very vast open area, a nexus for student life and everything they would need as a central point of the institute. Libraries, courts, cafe, recreational lounges, everything an academic mind could think of for need or want surrounded them at the Superplex. Cam stops and takes in the sight yet again. The smell of fresh water and waterfalls outside invade her smell as she breathes in slow with her eyes closed. She knew they didn't have to check in right away, so she figured she'd try to make time for anymore friends she might run into. Not that she had a lot, if it wasn't being marked Apex it was people intimidated by her physique and nature. She wasn't imposing in size by any means but the girl was very toned and in shape, and her stern faces at times didn't make it better. People believed she was haughty, when really she was on the other end of the spectrum, she may had been outgoing, but she was also very humble. She saw a nice couch near the lounge and made her way over, relaxing and taking in the otherwordly setting she was in. She could live here forever. And ever. She spots a few of her Rushball teammates and nods at them as they walk by and fist bump her. Her goal for the year was to make real friends, not just ones for status. People she could grow old around and share some good memories with. That was hard for her to do, but she held on to hope. Instead of be hyper as usual, Cam would just remain chill for now, she had a feeling she'd need her energy for some reason. Could be her abilities activating again, she didn't know. How everyone here could consciously control their ability, Camille was the exception. Her ability was rare in that it adapts and reacts only in time of stimuli, as opposed to Cam's will. Sometimes she hated that, seeing people with such amazing gifts, and hers only came about when something had to happen.

On the other hand, she'd also have the feelings sometimes that that's exactly what will make the difference in the end, to what end... she still didn't know. But she felt it.

Luis rode one of the smaller elevators up towards the Superplex, as per usual. He preferred not to be packed in with so many other students - he was well aware that the Institute's elevators were high-grade machinery, but an irrational doubt clung to the back of his head nevertheless that their weight limits were not to be trusted, especially on the first day. He instead slipped into one of the more regular-looking elevators, stepped aside to usher a handful of his peers into it, and let the door close. Luis still thought the elevator to be uncomfortably packed, but it was bearable enough. As the elevator ascended, he closed his eyes and drank in the familiar scrubbed scent of a newly sanitized school. Invectus was always immaculate on the first day. Better I enjoy it while it lasts. When the elevator finally stopped, its smooth doors sliding open with a soothing ding, Luis hung back and let the rest of the students filter out first. When it was finally his turn, he stepped out and into the Superplex.

It was just as brilliant as when he first beheld it, and every visit afterwards. How many all-nighters had he spent here? How many friends had he made, valuable information he'd learned? If the Invectus Institute were a person, surely this would be its beating heart.

At first, Luis's steps failed him, and he could only stand next to the elevator and observe from afar: many students were flocking to the cafes for an after-flight snack, while others perched on the sides of the fountain, checking their tablets and phones. The place always reminded Luis of a luxurious supermall - what with the smells and constant buzz of chatter. Luis eventually began walking towards the student library - a hulking building which huddled next to one of the tiny cafes he often would frequent in his past school years. As he crossed towards the Superplex's middle, he passed the academic lounge, where several students were already resting. Luis let his gaze wander and noticed one of the more iconic faces around Invectus - then again, all Apexes were iconic, he supposed. Or at least known. This one was Camille, he knew: a girl either respected or feared, depending on who you talked to around the Institute. Many of Luis's own friends thought she was intimidating as hell. Luis himself didn't know what to think. She was an Apex, sure - but that title was still viewed with a fair sense of superstition around Invectus, and Luis didn't care much for emotions based on superstition.

A heartbeat passed where Luis considered striking up a chat, but the window passed quickly as he walked by. His gaze focused on her for only a moment before he looked away, as if overwrought by the idea she might catch him staring. Headmaster Morrow will want everyone present soon. Best not to get caught up in your own thoughts, Louie. He strode towards the library, clutching tightly at his messenger bag strap all the while.

His head had already cleared when he arrived at the library's front. Ah. Closed. He supposed that was fair - he doubted any students would have to study already, or rent out a book for that matter. Luis would have to visit again afterwards, when he'd finished unpacking in his dorm. Shrugging to himself, Luis turned and entered its neighboring cafe, which was already bustling with life. There was a decent congregation of students already. Instead of returning to the outer area of the Superplex, he patiently stepped into the waiting line and dug out his phone. Switching off airplane mode, he entered his notifications and found several missed calls. Same unknown number. Well, not necessarily unknown - he knew full well who it was. He'd just removed her from his contacts so many times, he'd given up on renaming the number each time he added her back. This time, she was back on deleted.

Should've blocked her, too, he thought moodily. Swiping away the calls and several text messages (covering his face slightly so as to not read their full content), he was about to close the notifications bar when he noticed a fresh voicemail. Luis's thumb hovered over the delete button. On a scale of one to ten, how badly do I want to hear this? Sighing, he finally pressed the save button and turned his phone back off. I'm sure I'll get ten more voicemails before the day is done.

Luis looked up to see that he was next in line. I'll handle her later. Attempting to give the barista a polite smile, he ordered a simple black coffee - the cafe had strong brews, so a tentative sip set his head abuzz - and, once receiving it, walked briskly out of the cafe. Time to meet the good Headmaster Morrow and hear the speech I can recite in my sleep. Joining the steady stream of students beginning to head towards their respective headmasters, he quickly caught up to a crowd of Mentifers he was well-acquainted with and joined them in their small talk.

Chun-Hei was happy to be back to the one place she felt like she had a purpose. She kept to herself as she looked around the plane dock, readjusting her large bag on her shoulder. She just wanted to take in every detail, committing it to memory as much as she could. The PA snapped her out of her thought as she listened to the instructions. Last year she was apart of the freshmen group, heading to my weaving, where she was marked. She thought being marked would have been a good thing, but she quickly came to the realization that she had a new obstacle to get over in order to make friends. Even as she walked with the majority of the students heading to the Superplex, as a sophomore now, she tried to look around to see anyone she could try to befriend. She could stick to her house, but she felt them was a beneficial feeling of having connections outside of her house.

Her plans came to a halting stop as they arrived at the Superplex. Chun-Hei smiled at the sight of the one place she spent most of her time at last year. As soon as the elevator stopped, she began to maneuver through the other students as she made a beeline to the library. The sign on the door, caused her to let out a whine before she bowed her head and began to head back to the Mentifer's to meet their Headmaster. As she did, she noticed a fellow Mentifer also stopping at the library and she stopped to watch. She quickly recognized him as Luis, a senior. I guess great minds think alike. She knew him in passing since they were both from the same house, but she never actually had the chance to talk to him, let alone anyone at this point. When he turned to walk toward the cafe nearby, Chun-Hei turned around once more and continued to make her way to the North part of the Superplex.

As she walked toward her destination, she fished out her phone out of her large bag without looking and turned off airplane mode. As soon as she did two messages from her aunt popped up. With a smile, she quickly responded to her, telling her that she had made it through another Dive. The next message contained a picture of her family cat as he looked out the window of her bedroom with a caption saying, "I think he misses you." That pulled on her heart as she missed them both as well, but she recovered soon enough as she made it to where she had to be. Putting her phone in silent mode, she put her phone back to its spot in her bag and entered the are where headmaster Morrow waited for them. And so it begins.

Ezekiel was still feeling the repercussion from his, literal, premature wake-up call, and now was discovering an old part of him that he thought that he safely buried 6 foot under. The feeling that can only be summoned by the torment of a mind by sleep depravation paired with situations that he didn't plan for, irritation. Usually, he would be able to exorcise this emotion rather easily by meditating in a calm place where he could recollect his thoughts, unfortunately, he now found himself in an alien environment that seemed like earth, and he would've been fine with that if he could think of a place that you could travel by water diving with a private jet.

"Jesus, if this isn't the appropriate time to call your name then that time does not realistically exist.".

He sighed and took a deep breath allowing him a moment of respite to recollect his thoughts. He looked at the surrounding area, the surreal futuristic, sleek, modern looking campus being completely contrasted by the miles of water separating them from any landmass. A sight that even his irritated self could get flabbergasted by, just for a second. Ezekiel sighed again signaling that he got acclimated to the peculiar situation he was in, he was still in control. He decided that he would at least check what time it was, and so as he lifted his arm to check his hand watch he waltzed into someone. Jolting his head apologizing for rudeness, now his brown, baggy eyes laid upon a 6'2 behemoth towering over him, which would've had been fine if he didn't look like harry potter. With the muffled cry of his patience now echoing in the background, Ezekiel gave a forced smile and he went to pick his bags falling into ranks with every other freshman, keeping his expression the entire way, not seeming to change any time soon.

Shortly after that, the freshmen arrived in the room where the weaving process would happen. They were greeted by what seemed like a young, woman who clearly was sent in order to introduce them to the process and also ease their anxiety. Luckily her story seemed to calm most people, unfortunately for Ezekiel, he was on the verge of also having to go the infirmary but not due to performance anxiety, more due to stress-induced high blood pressure. He sighed and allowed every other freshman to go ahead of him until it was his turn.

He mostly ignored every other person who was in front of him mostly due to his irritation making simply not care enough, and while he was thinking about how he doesn't care it was his turn to be in front of the totems.

"Better finish this fast...".

Romeo smiled brightly as he carried his luggage through the plane dock. He was finally back home. Double I was the only place where he could actually be himself, without being called a weirdo, or an alien. It was a place where he could fit in, and make friends with people like himself. People that could understand him.

He was snapped out of his thoughts by the PA system overhead. Although the port was a cacophony of excited chatter, the voice was clear and distinct enough to hear what it was trying to say. Like usual it was the same things--report to your house's headmaster blah blah blah, and for the wide eyed freshman, prepare for the weaving blah blah blah and welcome to Invectus.

Although the Weaving was a distant memory for him now, he knew how hard it was for him to get used too. Under his breath, he wished the newcomers good luck.

As he made his way to the elevators, Romeo couldn't help but admire how fresh and clean everything looked. A far-cry from how things looked mid-semester. While there was a huge platfrom elevator that held hundreds of people, Romeo didn't feel like getting suffocated on the first day. So, he hurried into the smaller less used elevators that littered the hall. It didn't matter which one he took, they all stopped at the same place. The Superplex.

A huge, vast space that Romeo could only describe as an Academic shopping mall. It hosted everything you would need as a student, multiple cafes, libraries, book stores, etc... It was limitless.

Romeo's blue eyes wandered the scope of the area in awe. He could never get used to it, much like the plane ride from earlier. He noticed a few students on their phones, and shook his head. How could anyone's attention be on anything other then this marvelous place?

Quickly, he hurried to his suite where he deposited his luggage and headed back out to the main area. Although he was to report to Headmaster Asa, Romeo wanted to hang out with some of his friends from outside houses for a bit. He caught a glimpse of Chun-Hei, but she promptly disappeared before he could say hi.

After a while of just standing there, looking for familiar faces, Romeo retreated with a defeated expression to check in. There was just way too many people. Romeo kept a smile on his face as he walked, however. He was home, and that was all that mattered.

And so, it begins...

Despite the fact that Riley was in search of at least one other person he could talk to without looking confused and lost, the moment he stepped off of that plane, a backpack lugged over his shoulder, he couldn’t find anyone. Sure, a few familiar faces here and there. But nobody he wanted to talk to. Well, there were some faces belonging to people he’d have loved to talk to but he was more interested in speaking to someone from House Pathifer.

There was a simple enough reason behind why he wanted to speak to someone in his own house - the announcement that arrived over the PA system gave him specific directions to head to the Edge of the Superplex. He followed the others around him, eyes scanning the crowd just a couple times. Yeah, he recognized a lot. Whether from matches around school for the specialized sports, people in house Pathifer, or Apexes. Everyone knew them. Like Camille and Chun-Hei. He didn’t talk to them, mostly since he had no reason to, but he obviously knew who they were just like everyone else did or soon would.

Riley practically marched with the others towards the circular elevators that would bring them to the Superplex, set on getting straight to his location and doing only what he needed to do. He tended to get lost or in trouble sometimes so there wasn’t really time for dillydallying. If he stopped for too long he’d forget where he needed to be. The edge of the Superplex. Simple and straightforward. Follow the Pathifers. Or, at least the Pathifers that knew where they were going. During his thoughts, Riley was simply being dragged around with the crowds of students, finding himself around some other Pathifer students from his Visspar team who’d been calling out to him. Despite the rather short conversation, Riley was quick to excuse himself. He was already beginning to forget where he needed to go.

As Riley walked around, he spotted the library. No thanks. Cafe.. no, not now. But he really wanted to go in there. With a grunt and a huff, Riley trudged around, pushing through the other students - probably looking like some angry maniac - until he saw some Pathifer students gathered around the Edge of the Superplex. That was where he needed to be. Now, Riley was sure that anyone who’d seen him thought he was nothing but a big ol’ brute but he didn’t care. He was actually a big softie deep down. Well, sort of. As soft as someone could be. Well, maybe not.. train of thought: lost. But he made it. That’s all that mattered.

THE WEAVING

How do you tell a 16 year old the most mesmerizing, and singlehandedly most important event of their entire life was seconds away from happening? You don't. It takes away the experience, the meaning. The purpose. And that purpose was to find out who you truly are, as a person, and as a Potent. There were things in the DNA that made a human who they are supposed to be, but the Evoplasm only sought to amplify that, in such a fashion that bolsters the evolutionary premise of one's soul. The Weaving was the embodiment of that, as well as the unification of The Three: Mind, Body, and Soul. It was a permanent imprinting that they could never turn back from, but after it would all be said and done, they would never want to go back, not ever. The truth was, The Web was a place of war, not peace. The Freshmen had to learn the only way that sticks: Experience. There was a reason the upperclassmen would wish the newbies good luck, and a reason they had an eye of grim nostalgia inside of their retina. It was because they had to go through the most serene version of war that there is: battling with yourself. The limits, the fears, the nightmares all clashing with the hopes and dreams and boundless potential of the being. The Weaving only sought to raise Potents from that shell, and so did it. But only if they themselves could rise. To be ascended. Invectus. Setra Sawyer would only watch the masses of student pour into The Web, a field of past legacy and dreams held by the Potents before them. She watched with no longer bright, optimistic eyes, for now her gaze was frigid, almost absolute. She would only say one thing to them before vanishing into thin air.

"Praeter Oriri Prioribus Surrexit "

With that, all the Freshman wander about The Web, until they realize they're all alone.

James Mon:

Two brothers, one sister, two loving parents. On their knees. Weary and worn down in the face of death. James faces them as a light source glows so brightly in the field right behind them. They smile at James, with compassion and love on their face. They all speak at the same time, and all say the same thing. "It's okay James, we will fade, but you will heal." They repeat the phrase over and over as the light starts to get more volatile, the ground shaking as James now has a choice to make. Surrounding him is a crowd of students, of all classes and backgrounds. They gradually expand to the staff, and then random citizens, until in the vast of the field for miles beyond what the trained eye could see, were the population of the entire world. James would have to watch his family die so that the light could remain intact, unless he chose not to. It was very real, these were his real parents and family right in front of him. They were going to die. And never return, and James had to make a choice: Them, or the world.

Ezekiel Babette:

His adoptive brothers and sisters. They were real and there. They were much older now, fully grown adults and matured past recognition from youth. Their faces were stricken with rage, full unequivocal rage. The all hold guns to their adoptive father, the priest who'd very much saved Zeke and made him into the man he strives to be today. They all speak at the same time, with deeply scornful voices and pure malice in their eyes. "You can't change it. There's no going back. You cannot save us." They approach the Priest who is on his knees praying for peace. Zeke simply watches, unable to move, however he can see tethers of light, more like strings of energy that connect to everything around Zeke, he could choose to connect to one of his family, or even the ground, but only one. He couldn't save them all, and as he watched his only family tear each other apart, effectively snapping the Priest's neck as he falls lifeless to the ground, Zeke will have to come to terms with the reality. Can he still save his adoptive siblings? Will he even try? Things would never be the same.

---------------------------------------------------------

Setra would walk around The Web until one by one Freshmen would wake from their unconscious state, gasping from shock of The Weave back into consciousness and awareness as the field was littered with newcomers who were subconsciously fighting their own war for purpose, not even realizing they were in a dreamscape. Not realizing they had begun The Weaving, that it had started the moment they left the Superplex. Once ... if the Freshmen managed to overcome, they would wake up only for Setra to smile and congratulate them, followed by a silence leading towards the Three Ancestors. Pathifer in the front, Mentifer to the left, and Vocifer to the right. They would approach the totems as the universe seemingly muted. A resounding energy could be felt within them, wherever the Evoplasm resided in them, and once they touched the fellow totem, an imbuement of pure blue energy flowed in, around, and through them, before dispersing forever and giving them a sense of new purpose. Their Weaving had been completed. There wasn't a more beautiful sight in the world than seeing the azure blue energy flow from inside the students who looked at their hands and body with a newfound power. Their Vis. Some cried in joy and purpose, some shouted to the heavens in excitement, and some simply embraced in stoicism, but they were all now unleashed. Invectus Institute was officially under way.

THE REST

Back at The Superplex, the three Headmasters all convene with their fellow houses and students. Seniors and Matriculates knew the drill, most of them already having moved their stuff in, but the Sophomores had to adjust from Freshman year and the Juniors had to move into their new rooms now being 18. The three leaders of the houses were in their separate locations of the Superplex, but best believe that they were all going to give the routine message to their students. It was almost expected for them to drag on about the events and things to come for settling back into another year at Double I.

"Hello everyone, welcome to (insert perspective house here) and another year here at Double I. I know you ladies and gentlemen are excited and anxious to get out and move in so you can gather with your friends and attend the rally so I won't keep you too long. I Just have to remind everyone of the boring but essential stuff. RULES.

You guys are upperclassmen so we have to set the tone and example for the Freshmen, who are currently undergoing The Weaving. Some might be scared or confused so we NEED to make them know they aren't alone, and that this is a big family. Even if you see someone struggling outside of your house, remember that we are all in this together. Potents stick together. Also, you guys know about the credit system whichever house gains the most credits by merits at the end gets their choice of party and can break curfew.

CURFEW. Everyone must be in their dorms by 11:30 P.M. unless specifically provided by us or an instructor staff. I don't need to remind you what happens when you use your Vis to harm or abuse fellow students do I? Good. I'd hate to see anyone get expelled and or wiped. Your power is a privilege and honor, cherish it. Do not tarnish it. We encourage always exploring your abilities and developing them, but never ever to a life's expense. Understood? Good. Obviously you know The Superplex provides your every need and remains open from 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. The cafeteria & food court, library, general shop, rec center, skill center, lounge, theater, planetarium, outer gardens & greenhouse, wildlife farm, infirmary, and observatory are all either in, around, or bordered to The Superplex.

DO NOT wander from Double I grounds into the forests and falls of Campus unless you have explicit permission from a Headmaster AND The Dean. I don't need to remind you about wandering into the lower caverns below Campus... don't do it. Lastly, not least... Don't bother The Dean outside of being friendly and polite. He's a very busy man, and we encourage going up the chain of command if you have an issue and need to be tended to. Okay! Grab your things, go move in!!! We have about 45 minutes until the rally starts, please proceed to your dorms, have fun we're so glad to have you all back, we missed you, and WELCOME TO INVECTUS!"

Some cheers go about as the pepped students gain an extra bounce of energy in them, as the Headmasters watch their fellow futuremen go about Campus with a new thrill of joy. The dorms lie just on the other side of The Web and The Superplex, standing with technological beauty and state of the art infrastructure, literally fogred and built by the Vis of those that came before the current population of Potents.
base_8c5423bf10.jpg

As the students moved in at the same time some of the Invectus staff handled The Freshmen belongings moving into the Freshman-Sophomore dorms while the first years underwent The Weaving, some of the seniors and last years started to prepare the gym for the rally, making sure all the seats and bleachers in the place were pristine and in tip top shape. The Headmasters would head to the gym ahead of time as they awaited the upperclassmen first, and once all the higher classes were seated, they would welcome in the Freshman newly enforced with their Vis into the fold of the school and family. It was not just to boost spirit, but to remind everyone of how the future matters, and each one is shaped by those that walk among them. The rally was near, and so was the start of a new era. More than the students and even staff would know in due time.

The young Nakamura grabbed her luggage, a bag around her shoulders and one to drag behind her. She stretched out her arms and eyed the area. The first time she came here, she was star-struck. The noises, smells, pleasant imagery ingrained into her mind. The wonderful aesthetic of Double I was enough for her to spin in circles and skip around if she was alone. Maybe in the dead of night she will return to the platform and perform some sort of ritual and try to invite ghosts to chill in her room.

Hotaru arched her back in surprise as Camille placed an arm around her, if she didn't know any better, Hotaru might have freaked out and caused a scene. Realizing that it was Camille, Hotaru turned towards her and tightly wrapped her arms around her, properly giving her a hug. The girl grinned at the other and pulled out her phone. Quickly typing out her words, she showed the screen at Camille and activated the text-to-speech function. A robotic, but oddly soft, female voice blared out the words for the other. For some odd reason, the voice wasn’t identifiable to other text-to-speech voices, like Siri or Alexa, “Oh my goodness,” There was a brief pause to indicate a comma in the sentence, “You frightened me!” She flashed her a toothy grin, “I was really bored! Colan cee.” Unfortunately, her program cannot recognize the sad face emoticon, ‘:c’. “I'm glad to be back here. It’s good to be away from home for a while,” Pouting, Taru quickly pulls the screen away and types into some more. However, before she could ask anything the PA system interrupts her.

Taru turned her phone off and swayed side to side, impatiently waiting for the voice to hush down so she could continue her conversation. The voice told the students where to head for their House to welcome them. Twirling her fingers in her hair, she made a mental note to make her way towards the Edge of the Superplex and meet up with Headmaster Kinada.

She shrugged the announcement off in a “it couldn't be helped” way and quickly switched her phone on. Thankfully she was able to type out her message before the announcement and played it back for Camille and flashed the screen at her, just in case she needed the subtitles, “We should really meet up later, I want to know how your summer went!” Hotaru smiled and waved farewell at Camille as a crowd of people shuffled through them to get to a meeting point. She could probably rest for a few minutes before they were expected to go and meet up.

Taru collected her belongings and walked to the area where the Pathifers were meeting up. She realized that it might be rude if her phone went off in the middle of the Headmaster Kinada’s speech. She slipped her phone into her pocket and pulled out a whiteboard and a black dry erase marker from her backpack. The Headmaster greeted the Pathifer crowd, while still keeping an air of poise and professionalism. There was something about her that made Hotaru smile and feel right at home in the House of Pathifer. She reminded everyone about the rally and the rules. With swift and neat curvature, Hotaru drew an excited face on the board and held it up to her face. She was using the board to show her own reactions to the Headmaster’s speech.

The topic of Freshmen came up, Hotaru knew that she should always make them feel welcomed at home. It was one of best things she received the year before, the feeling of having a failsafe home with the Potents. But, her mind wandered, was she allowed to pull pranks that might scare them? This was something that she did at home with her grandfather, although he did have a stomach of steel. ...It was in the best interest of the newcomers and herself that she did not, she needs to make them feel the opposite of scared. She needs to make friends this year, not scare them off.

Headmaster Kinada quickly shifted the conversation to curfew rules. There was something about not leaving her dorm after 11:30 P.M. Looks like this puts a damper on her plans to take in the sights after dark. Hotaru drew a pouting face on her board held it up to her head. She reminded the group of the basic rules such as never using their Vis to harm. The headmaster listed off the facilities that were in The Superplex and how it remains open from 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. Noting the hours down in her head, Taru bounced up and down on her heels. She huffed a bit once the restrictions were placed on the borders of the Campus. This just makes me want to go outside even more..!

They were given less than an hour to go and drop their things off in their dorm rooms. People cheered as the small spiel ended. The legacy of The Superplex could be seen in the scenery on the way to the dorms. It felt like each year, the scenery seems to have new additions to it. After Hotaru quickly dropped her belongings off and made her way to the gym to get ready for the pep rally.

Watching and listening diligently to headmaster Morrow as she listens to the speech for the first time. It seemed that some of the other students were waiting impatiently, knowing right away that this speech was a repetition from the years before. Once the speech was over, Chun-Hei clapped along with the other student as some started to head out. Chun-Hei stayed around a bit in order to not get in the way of anyone. Once a few minutes had passed she began to pull the things along with her to he dorm. Maybe two suitcases were too much... Locating her dorm she would be sharing with a fellow Mentifer student and began to unpack some of her things, placing them perfectly around her side of the room.

Most of the things she put away where her book which was a mix of English novels and Korean ones that she had collected throughout her life. She gave up on her clothes for later as Chun-Hei stowed her suitcases away and headed out. Walking around the Superplex before the rally, making sure to commit to memory the layout once more of the layout and locations of places she will more than likely come back later. With a few more minutes before the rally, Chun-Hei finally turned on her heels as she walked back toward the gym, excited to see what the pep rally had in store this year. She wasn't a fan of these kinds of events back home, but she was home, so why not enjoy what is in store for her here.

As Chun-Hei came close to the gym, she noticed a fellow sophomore. If my memory serves me right, I would say she's from Pathifer. Chun-Hei walked up to her and exclaimed, "You seemed like you've been here a while now. Didn't unpack?" It was a simple question, but it was all she could think about. She mostly kept to herself unless someone comes up to her, so starting up a conversation was new to her after so many years of keeping to herself.

Ezekiel would be found walking along The Web as instructed, he trotted with a rather tired steep, looking curiously at the fellow freshmen around him who would for some reason fall down and then stare blankly. As due to his irritation and tiredness, Ezekiel didn't care enough to think about it even more. Before long he found himself in the middle of the web, or at least that what he thought. The area around him begun to expand, again Ezekiel didn't seem to care enough that everything around him distanced.

He only came to the realization of his situation when he found himself in a black, endless expanse. This time, clearly distraught he began spinning around looking for a way out and after a bit of squinting, he saw a light. Putting caution to the wind, as from his viewpoint at least if this meant he died he went to heaven. A few seconds later, even though the light seemed miles away, Ezekiel found himself at the end of a footpath with a familiar feeling. Tracing the footpath with his eyes he found himself in front of the door, a door that he has entered hundred, even thousands of times, the door to his parish.

A smile appeared on Ezekiel's face, the wrinkles due to tiredness began to disappear as he found himself in his little sanctuary. With some energy in his step, he entered to find some tall figures, who for some reason Ezekiel knew that they were his brothers. He went ahead to give them a slap on the back and ask them what did they do while he was gone, but they ignored him, their attention prioritized by someone in front of them. He walked around the group and he found himself in front a nightmare.

Zeke simply watches, unable to move, however, he can see tethers of light, more like strings of energy that connect to everything around Zeke, he could choose to connect to one of his family or even the ground, but only one. He couldn't save them all, and as he watched his only family tear each other apart, effectively snapping the Priest's neck as he falls lifeless to the ground, Zeke will have to come to terms with the reality. Can he still save his adoptive siblings? Will he even try? Things would never be the same.

"What? Why even?" was what Ezekiel wanted to scream out but his mouth laid shut, he couldn't he was stuck as a statue, unable to do anything. He was about to go mad and then the tethers of light appeared and then he remembered where he was and what he was doing. This was the aforementioned "Self-reflection" that the process of weaving meant. He sighed, this wasn't real but a test of his conviction, he looked at the scene and then after a heavy sigh thought to himself; "It's true, I won't be able to save everyone but doesn't mean I won't try. I got all the time in the world anyway, so where should I start?". He looked at the ground and the tether of light connected to it, another smile propped out as he connected with it and he came back to the real world.

Looking up to see the lady who introduced him to the whole process greeting him with a smile. Ezekiel responded with a bit of irritation sounding from his voice; "This was just a bit of Self reflection?". He then sighed, as there was no point getting mad about and then his attention was grabbed by the silence emitted from the totem in the front. He approached the totem, and after staring it down for a bit just to make sure no more shenanigans would happen again, he gave in and touched it. At that moment the blue surged from the statue making his way through Ezekiel's entire body. Then he could see the tethers of light again.

"Guess it wasn't so bad, I did get a pretty good reward." And then stoicly he fell in line with every other student.

As Luis had expected, the Mentifer initiation was nothing out of the blue. He passed the time in the back of the crowd, quietly listening to a fellow senior's re-telling of his time on break, nodding his head at appropriate times and asking simple questions at other times. In truth, he wasn't exactly listening. Luis's mind was elsewhere. Leaning against the corridor, he gazed outwards at his Mentifer peers. He could only see a couple of new faces – all Sophomores joining the ranks, of course. The Freshmen were still going through The Weaving. Luis smiled faintly. He felt pity for them, of course: The Weaving was a difficult time for everyone he had discussed it with. Unlike the Dive, it definitely wasn't an experience he wanted to go through a second time. He was glad it was over. Exhaling, Luis turned away and looked back up at Headmaster Morrow, who seemed to be finishing up with his speech. Maybe, my Matriculate year, I'll be able to recite this backwards in my sleep.

The dismissal was a welcome justice for him. The second after the words 'Welcome to Invectus'! Exited Morrow's lips, Luis was walking back, having already said good-bye to his small group of Mentifer friends. "See you at the rally," he called behind his shoulder, their affirmations meeting his ears as he continued his progression down the corridor. Good friends. I've had the same group since Freshman year, though. He shifted his pack. It was relatively light, but he wasn't sure he wanted to lug it around for the entire day. A stop at his dormitory would be preferred. Besides, he wanted to make sure nobody had tinkered with his belongings. The sooner he checked, the quicker his mind would be at ease. And the phone. Can't forget the barrage of voicemails I'll be getting by the evening.

The corridor led away from The Web, running opposite of the Superplex and towards the student dormitories. The structures stood with impeccable pride. Far from being just a place to stay during his studies, Luis viewed his dorm as his home away from home. Hell, he might've even preferred living here than back in France (if not for his motor garage – and that was too big, he feared, to house at Invectus). Either way, at least he wasn't moving into a new dormitory. He walked past several Sophomores attempting to assist in dragging a Freshman's belongings into their dorms. Man, I missed this place.

The Mentifer dorms were relatively quiet when Luis arrived. He took the stairs up to the building's second floor, crossing over to one of the rooms near the end. A brief glance at the door, numbered #447, told him that it was the correct room. He still had the keys – flipping his backpack around to the front, he rummaged around in its front pocket for a moment, brought out the silver key (also marked 447), and inserted it into the lock. It clicked open and Luis swung the door forwards.

It was strange, really, to see the dorm half empty. His previous roommate had been a Matriculate – gone by now – and had packed away his things the previous year. It still felt odd, however: a contrast of posters, boxes and various trinkets on Luis's one side, and a bare wall with bare furnishings on the other. The Matriculate had been a senior when Luis first roomed with him. He'd seemed terrifying at first, but had turned out to be a good guy. He'd even tolerated Luis's B-movies. If that's not a friend, I don't know what is.

With a sigh, he set his backpack down on his bed – still newly-made – and unzipped it. A couple more horrendous movies were there, along with stashes of folded clothes, spare parts, and a fresh folder (to replace the one that'd fallen apart the year previous). His phone was in there, too, but he simply put it in his pocket. The rest he put away neatly – the clothes into his cabinet, where several magazines had also been stowed – the spare parts and movies in their respective bins, and he set the folder on his desk. Luis stepped back and looked around. I wonder what my new roommate will think about this place. Motorcycle posters were evenly plastered around his bed. Luis looked at them fondly. Back in France, motorcycle biking was in his blood – he loved building them, fixing them, customizing them. It was, perhaps, the one thing he missed about home.

I'm going to be late to the rally if I keep lazing around. Smiling to himself, Luis open the door back into the dormitory hallway and quickly began his way towards the gymnasium.

Hotaru turned to the voice, she took note that it was someone from her year, but in a different House. Hmm...I know I have seen her around… She concluded that she would have to find out and see. She flashed the girl a polite smile and gave her a nod to show that she heard what she said. Taru plucked her phone from her backpack and quickly typed out a reply for the girl, “Hello!” The text-to-speech chimed as Hotaru showed her phone screen to Chun-Hei. Once again, the voice felt unfamiliar to the default voice, it was soft and still lacking any emotion, “I sort of rushed over here.” There was a brief pause in between, “I hope the pep rally isn't too long.” The plane ride was exhausting, she was hoping to sleep in the comfort of her bed. However, she did know that it was very important for the pep rally to commence.

Hotaru pushed her rather messy bangs aside and rapidly typed into her phone with her thumbs, “My name is Hotaru Nakamura, it is nice to meet you,” There was a pause as the text-to-speech seemed to process what was being said, “Underscore, underscore?” Pouting at the results, she showed her real intentions with the underscore. The girl gave her the phone to take a peek at the text. Written was, 'My name is Hotaru Nakamura, it is nice to meet you __?’ She clearly intended to ask for the other girl's name. Twirling her hair, Hotaru held out her hand to shake.

Romeo headed to the corner of the Superplex where he knew that Headmaster Asa was waiting. Many Vocifer house members were already gathered there, so Romeo bumped fists with them.

The speech was pretty much the same, so Romeo didn't really listen and used that time to catch up with old friends. When Headmaster Asa finished he directed for the other

Chun-Hei looked at the girl as she pulled out her phone and began to communicate to her through it. It was off and a bit off-putting but she only smiled and introduced herself. "It's nice to meet you, Hotaru. My name is Chun-Hei An but I rather go by An," Chun-Hei took Hotaru's hand and shock it, "If you don't mind me asking... Why do you communicate through your phone? If it's because you don't know English, I speak Japanese." Chun-Hei offered the girl a smile and switched to Japanese, "I'm a bit rusty when it comes to speaking but, I hope you can understand." It has been a few months she hadn't thought about brushing up on her languages but it was still good to hold a conversation with someone.
