overview.
Mutants live among usβ¦
This world is shared amongst the most powerful brands of people to exist. Genetic alterations due to evolution are at a pinnacle. And, in this day and age, that could be the salvation of the human raceβ¦or its destruction. Many groups support this new sort of diversity. Some want to see complete control and annihilation over anyone different than themselves. They are labeled as the MNTF (Mutant Neutralization Task Force) and their ruthless chain of command goes past the shores of one nation. Their reach affects both humans and mutant-kind.
However, there is a haven for mutants and their allies: a place on the northwestern coast of the US that is hidden away from the eyes of the MNTF and the other horrors that could lurk for different thinking. Founded by Ernest Cameron and Yuri Hirabayashi in 2013, after the first riot of an anti-mutant variety, the Cameron Institute opened its doors to the broken and downtrod of different kinds. Mutant and mundane alike walk its halls. There is a kindred belonging here that is protected by everyone there. Some students and residents live there, learning about themselves and thriving amongst each other. In this community are staff members who educate from their knowledge and experience, while ensuring the safety of these their charges. The current headmaster, Natasha Karin-Cameron, is an A-Tier Mutant capable of many feats of the mind. Tasked with the job from familial succession, she and her selected staff are some of the best at what they do.
~Welcome! Please make sure you read the rules and roles thoroughly to avoid any miscommunication. We are glad to have you and your ideas added to the unfolding story. We are looking at applicants on a merit-based system. That means best come, best served. We think all your ideas could be great for the story but, unfortunately, not all make it. Please don't take it to heart. We will do our best to work with you to get you rolling in the plot. We are a very welcoming bunch of writers and we post a few times a week, if we can. Commit to this RP with that in mind. And, remember, have fun. That's what we're all here to do!

S-CLASS
limited
(Also called Taturus Level Threats) So-called world-enders, capable of catastrophic or enlightening world change. Maybe they have a weakness, but itβs either hard to find or their only weakness. They could have complete mastery and range of their abilities or have ridiculous powers that could completely wreck any other super that goes against them.
A-CLASS
open
Legitimately superhuman. For example, an Elemental who can set a whole forest ablaze, or a Magician that can conjure a portal the size of Atlanta. Potent but not untouchable. They can have multiple small weaknesses or one big one (ex: Superman and Kryptonite). They possess a near total mastery and range of power, or a balanced set of powers that can do critical damage.
B-CLASS
open
In-Betweener level. Typical demonstrations include a Shapeshifter that can maintain a shape for a few hours or a Psychic that can communicate with a small group, concurrently. Suffers from one major weakness thatβs particularly easy to find or use, or several small-medium weaknesses. They would have a very standard understanding of their powers with a good amount of strength behind them.
C-CLASS
open
The most common power level, where most mutants register. Common examples include a Psychic who can see a day into the future or a Magician who can only conjure three or four manhole-sized portals. They usually have at least one major weakness with a possible secondary fault (medium potency). Either their power mastery and range are low or they have powers that donβt have a lot of strength.
D-CLASS
open
The lowest technical level of abilities in mutation. Examples include an Elemental who can make a flame the size of a match or a Shapeshifter who can only change a hand or a foot. This level has the least chance for capabilities or powers to work. However, it is more common for mutants to have a physical mutation at this level.
E-CLASS
open
Propritarily human. Itβs the tier you get at power testing if you canβt do anything at all. Either your powers are dormant or the gene is there but the powers aren't present in any capacity.
rules
rules.
rule one.
Probably the most important rule here, please consult with me before making something that could βbreakβ the power system. It has happened too many times in previous iterations. Powers need to have a definite explanation and range. If I cannot understand your perspective on power reasoning it will be an automatic "no".
rule two.
Please respect the decisions handed down by the GMs. If it was committed or denied, it was within good reason. All decisions are final unless discussed otherwise.
rule three.
With anything that involves your character being involved in lore, consult me first. I can find somewhere for them to fit if it makes sense. If you want to be involved in someone elseβs backstory, please consult with them.
rule four.
No outlandish characters. Some of the S-tiers will be practically unkillable, hence, the limited spots for them. Every hero needs some condition of weakness to balance out their powers. If they have super speed, for example, maybe theyβre always hungry and have to eat a lot (thank you, Flash). Just make sure thereβs some drawback.
rule five.
Have fun! This is an RP that handles dark themes and stuff that isnβt necessarily pleasant but the mood won't always be so edgy. Feel free to have funny or wholesome interactions in between the dark bits. And donβt forget that the OOC chat is for fun stuff too!
