They call it "The Dormitories" but that name does little to obscure what it really is. It is the prison wing of the Arden Research Institute's best kept secret, a vast underground research facility dedicated entirely to an inhumane experiment, known only as "The Project".
The dormitories consist of a single long hallway, roughly twelve feet wide and forty feet long. Each wall of the hallway is lined with heavy doors, secured with computerized locks and each sporting a small window covered with a metal hatch. The doors are numbered, 001 through 014, and behind each door is a small cell, equipped with a bed, a metal toilet and sink, and a mirror protected by shatter proof glass.
The unwilling participants in The Project spend their evenings in these rooms, kept in a carefully controlled sleep by a light sedative gas that is pumped into the rooms through small vents. During the day, they are taken into the lab, under careful guard, to participate in experiments. For two long months, they have existed in these conditions, drugged into subservience and unaware of the passage of time.
The participants are aware of one another. They have shared fleeting and desperate glances when passing each other in the long hall of the dormitory on their way to be experimented upon, but they don't know each others' names, or where they all came from. Although only a few months have passed since they were living their free lives outside, it feels like they have always lived in this place. Part of this is the effect of the sedative drugs that are used to keep them docile, and some of this is the oppressive fear of the shadowy scientists and mercenary guards who keep them under constant surveillance. There is no escape, there is no day or night, there is only the antiseptic white and stainless steel halls of The Institute.

It is April the 27th.
A siren sounds through a crack in your door. You sit up, disoriented, coming out of the nebulous dreams induced by the sleeping gas that has faded from the room. There is a red flashing light in the dormitory hall.
Your head aches, but your thinking feels clear for the first time in months. Something has changed. Your mind is free.
How long has it been? You feel like you've been living in a nightmare for days upon days, and now you are coming awake and something has changed. You can feel it in your body, a sense of power, like a new limb you have never noticed before that is restless to be flexed.
There are others like you, you can picture their faces from the half dream in which you have existed.
You rise from your bed, dressed in grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt. Your feet are bare on the cold tile floor of the cell. You move towards the door and step slowly into the chaos of the hallway.
The normal white fluorescent lights are dark and the only light comes from the flashing red alarm lights that strobe eerily in the dark.
You can hear voices shouting from further away in the facility and a racket that sounds like gunfire in the distance.
Something is going very wrong.
You hear a sound and look back, more doors open, and your fellow test subjects emerge.
