If anything, they would have an outdoor thing with trees and other plants. It would be impossible to escape with the walls/eletrical fences or whatever and contanst supervision and guards.

Maybe the humans could have the chance to watch them while they are all in there, and then buy the one they wanted. If another wants the same subject, they would have raise their bids to 'win' the subject like in a real auction. How's that sound?
