Beryl gave Morgana a nod and rolled up the signed contract.

“That makes a change. Most join for the free room and board-“ She mentioned. “-or to take advantage of the taphouse.” The Half-orc added, loud enough for Callan and the rest of the drunken louts in the hall to hear. “Welcome to the Guild.”

“Mhm.” The Dwarf muttered in response X’nerus’ review of the milk.

Callan had watched very carefully where Argius had pinned his quest to the board, so may have scowled when he noticed the Tigren taking a look.

Beryl, Barry
Callan (mentioned)
Location: Guildhall

The guild door was ungraciously kicked open as a tall and somewhat lanky blue haired man ducked into the hall, emerald eyes glancing about as his gave a quick sniff. His eyes soon fixing on Callan, with a broad grin the man started making a beeline for the hunter. Stepping over benches and brushing past other hunters with little care as he zero'd in on his target in the hall.
"So dis is where you have been hiding eh?" He grinned looking about "Mmmm smells like they got plenty of good grub and booze ere too!" he clapped his hands together with delight. "Been absolutely famished! And you never came back after ya told me to stay put." The blue haired man huffed grumpily giving cal a poke.

Morgana snorted "First thing I did was remove my need for sleep. And I don't do anything that inhibits my mental patterns." She got down from the stool and picked up the two hag heads by the hair, and hurled them underhanded so they rolled up against Callan's boots. "You dropped these."
And then, without missing a beat, she went to the job board to take a look at the tasks on offer.

X'NERUS

HP: 90% / 100%

X'nerus frowned at the new human; he seemed to have a distaste for loud and obnoxious people, but he seemed polite enough not to voice his opinions. Instead, he sipped his milk quietly, but kept his eye on the human warily.

Lithe read through the contract carefully and signed, nodding eagerly at each statement with the prospect of becoming a part of something great. "Ah, I would check yes but unfortunately I kind of made a deal with a self proclaimed God that if I were to ever get resurrected, I would lose my powers and darkness-" she paused, laughing abruptly. She was clearly not yet sober to reveal such a sensitive topic. "I mean, where could I find the bathhouse? I heard there was a bathhouse."

“… it’s a personal choice.” Beryl said after giving Lithe a sceptical look. Again, she didn’t press anybody too much about their past lives.. or blood pacts.

“I’ll take you to the baths… this way… follow me.” The Half-orc said, striding towards two large double doors set into one of the walls.

At the end of a short corridor was the entrance to the bathhouse. It was a large room with a rectangular steaming pool set into the floor in the middle. Around the edge of the room were benches, shelves full of towels and a few wooden privacy screens (for changing behind).

“They didn’t have this back in my day.” The Guild Master chatted. “You bathed in the river, or not at all.”

Alice Evergarden

"My darlings? I collect them. Its called a hobby. You should try finding one. A hobby, that is. I don't think you would like dolls. Unless..." Alice reached down and grabbed the box again, setting it on the bar and opening it up again. She pulled out a wonderfully creepy porcelain doll. Beady eyes, hair just slightly too realistic, the works. Alice held it out in front of Callan. "Is this doing anything for you?" She waggled the doll, the lifeless limbs dancing about as she did.

Then a lanky man burst into the guild hall and jostled his way between Alice and Callan. "Oh, hello!" Alice waved with the doll holding hand. "Are you a friend of Callans? A vengeful enemy? Forlorn lover?"

Yelania

"Fools, those two are nothing but fools." Yelania muttered to herself as she carried two novice hunters, one slug on her shoulder, the other under her left arm. Both of them had been injured pretty badly due to being too arrogant during the hunt. They were unable to move , so Yelania was forced to carry them back to the Hunter's Inn, as well as their gear alongside her own. Despite all of the weight put on her, Yelania still marched forward, the newbies were still alive, but she didn't want to take the chance of stopping for fear of them loosing their lives.

Without missing a step, Yelania marched straight into the guildhall, and was taken aback from all the new faces that were present. She was sure that her presence would probably make a few slightly uncomfortable, especially seeing as she was carrying 2 unconscious hunters with her. However, Yelania didn't really care about the thoughts of others, instead she pushed her way towards the infirmary.

Yelania set down the pair of foolish hunters, and didn't wait to see what would become of them. They were officially Hannah's problem, which meant that they'd be fine for the most part. While their wounds were decently bad, Yelania had seen much worse in her time as a hunter. She would return to the guildhall, and set herself down in a quiet corner, alongside her lance and shield. Personally, She wanted nothing more than to head home and spend the rest of the day resting her aching muscles. However, Yelania wanted to speak to Beryl to inform her on what had happened during the hunt. With no idea where exactly the guild master was, Yelania simply waited in the Guildhall, knowing Beryl would eventually return, hopefully sooner rather than later.

“Who said I didn’t ‘ave ‘obbies?” Callan said as Alice searched for something in her box and fished out another doll.

“Aye, it’s doin’ my ‘ead in.” He said to the doll as it was waggled in his face. In all honesty he didn’t hate it, but he had his tough-guy reputation to think about.

Callan slowly turned around with a face like thunder as he was rudely prodded. This expression promptly changed to surprise once he recognised who was speaking.

sh*t.

“N-no he’s not…” The Siren seemed unusually flustered, irate even. The severed heads splatting against the side of his boot didn’t help either. He glanced down at the grimacing duo, then frowned at the one who thrown them. “Oi!”

“I’ll deal with you in a minute…” He promised Morgana, pointing an angry finger her way. But first…

“You need ter leave.” Callan got up, intending to force the stranger out if he had to. His boots squeaked on the bloody floor as he turned to square up to the man… although the size difference meant he had to look up.

“Now.” He growled insistently, though there was a hint of concern in his voice.

"But I just got ere" the man lamented, pausing as he was presented witha waggling doll. He'd not seen such a fancy one before, almost looked like a miniature child.

"Uhhh friends?" He replied sounding a lil unsure how to respond, glancing down to see the two heads he grimaced a lil before the frustrated hunter nearly started pushing him out the hall. He gave the odd lady a wave as he reluctantly took Callan's hint and clomped back outside.

Callan saw the stranger out, feathers puffed up like a territorial turkey. Once outdoors however, he pulled the man aside.

“Why’d you come ‘ere, yer bloody idiot!” The Siren whisper-scolded. “It’s not safe. What if you… you know…” He gestured something with his hands that could have been an impression of a T-Rex or a butterfly. Never invite Callan to play a game of charades.

"Well..ya never came back and I was gettin hungry, oh and I found my home got claimed by some guys who said it was a private property or sumit" he watched Callan's odd hand gestures, "I know better dan ta fly in doors." He crossed his arms elven ears tilting slightly. "But anyway" he waved a hand and huffed. "I'm hungry and I got no where ta stay so...ere I am. Didn't expect ya house ta be so big and have so many servants."

He took a glance at the connecting stables, "and ya got 'orses too"

Callan blinked as Toby prattled on, then he groaned out a long sigh. He had a feeling this was all going to come back and bite him in the ar*e.

“I knew you’d leave the cave once the food ran out… just… didn’t imagine you’d come ‘ere.” The Siren admitted.

“This isn’t my house, this is the Hunter’s Guild.” Callan pointed upwards to bring Toby’s attention to the ruddy great dragon skull that hung on the front of the building. It was painted bright red and pretty darn hard to miss in Callan’s opinion.

Gods know why, but he found himself feeling responsible for the man. If he’d only killed him, like he was supposed to…

“Ey - don’t you go eatin’ any ‘orses.” Callan scolded, unsure if Toby meant to do so. “… fine. I’ll get yer some food n’ a drink… and then you’ll p*ss off, yeh?”

He sighed and turned, stomping back into the Inn. “Come on.”

Tobias looked up at the painted skull for a long moment then back to callan. "Musta been a pretty big bugger."

"Oh I wont go eattin no 'orses, I like em. And horse meat is pretty stringy anyways." He waved a hand, he got on better with most animals than people.

"So everyone in der is a hunter? Even the lady with the dolls?" Tobias trailed after Callan "sooooo you guys just hunt dragons or other things?"

“Alice.” Callan explained who the doll wielder was. “A mage… likes ter pop out o’ dark places.” And give Cal heart palpitations.

“I hunt whatever poor b*stard is on the quest board.” Callan gestured to the overflowing noticeboard as he led Tobais back to the bar. “Mostly the jobs that pay well… ogres, trolls, behemoths, naiads-“

“These four were pickin’ off locals down by the river in Wallford.” Callan explained as he picked up the two hags heads from the floor to hold in the taller man’s face. Maybe he could scare his unexpected guest away.

Morgana paid Callan no heed as she continued to muse over which job to apply for on the board.
"Save a doggy...or...get a bunch of goblin parts?" She went back and forth between these two jobs. "Puppies are cute. But since I probably won't be able to use it in my alchemy...maybe I should check out those goblins. They're one of the most useful ingredients...and their ears make delicious jerky..."

Morgana pondered for a while, and eventually sighed, "Puppy is lost in the Cackling Woods eh? Well...that sounds intriguing enough! I wonder if the trees are cursed or if there's some sort of horrific mutation in the wildlife."

She went to find Beryl "I'd like to apply for finding the puppy in the Cackling Woods job.

Toby gave the decapitated heads a sniff, "They don't look dat tasty that's for sure." He wrinkled up his nose and pushed the heads away as Callan waved them about. "Ya don't ave any trolls I could eat then?" he looked a tad hopeful as Callan listed off the various targets these hunters would go after, most sounded like pretty good eating. There also seemed to be booze that was another plus...he eyed Morgana curiously as they shuffled about, they didnt seem the edible sort... "So if I do one of those paper thingys I get gold and food?"

A growl rumbled through the small room, waking its occupant. The half-orc groaned, rolling over in bed and patted absently at their stomach. "Yes, we're hungry. Don't eat me." In spite--or was it the residual exhaustion?--they stared at the blank ceiling before sighing. Sitting up, then planting their hands against the covers, Urzoth dragged themself to the head of the bed, turning to reach a cabinet built into the frame.

Opening it, they pulled out clothes for the day. Draping first one foot over their lap and then the other, they encased each in a thick sock. Without any sensation, the extra cushion prevented injuries, from frostbite to blisters. Next came a pair of light pants. Flicking them over their legs, they carefully threaded one foot through before pulling the fabric up as close to their waist as they could, followed by the other. Laying back once more, they easily lifted their body with their elbows pulling the back hem up and fully one.

Sitting once more, Urzoth pulled their armor on, the leather lacing easily. Scales, collected from hunts, moved with her stretching as easily as the leather top half did. This was followed by a bracer for each arm. Turning to their chair, they draped a shawl across it--their one concession to fashion. The distance from the bed to their chair was well traveled, and they tied the shawl around their waist once upon it. Their boots, another prized piece of armor, were beside the chair, stiff enough to stand upright on their own. Taking one, which was already unlaced from the night before, she bent in half, carefully cradling the foot in the boot, then slowly lacing them once more. It took time, even with practice, but once she was finished, she strapped a knife to her thigh and rolled herself over to a basic vanity. Running an obligatory hand through her hair, she deemed it brushed well enough and pulled the front into a top knot, letting the rest cascade down. Then she pulled her necklace on, with bone earrings to match, her two gold hoops up her cartilage having remained through the night.

Finally, they rolled downstairs, pausing for a moment to watch what appeared to be an undead toss Callan a couple of hags’ heads. They’d overheard late last night that a bunch of rookies had joined but, “They get weirder every year.” Did Beryl start actively recruiting? From where? Bypassing the bar, and expertly steering around the blood stains, she headed to the door of the kitchens, “Am I too late for breakfast Colin?” Another growl rumbled through them at the thought of finally getting fed.

Morgana wheezed a laugh upon hearing Tobias' doubt of the validity of hags as food. "It's the brains that are good eating, friend. Scramble them like eggs and saute them with a little butter..." She started to salivate after even thinking of the process. She glanced at Callan "Can I have one of the heads? I'll trade you some basilisk eyes."
She held up her jar of eyeballs to the siren. Her human eye tracked Uzroth as they passed by, while her Gorgon Eye was still looking in Callan and Tobias' direction.

Turning in their chair, Urzoth, whose mind was on food, agreed with the recruit who appeared like a zombie, “Oh yes, they’re both creamy but firm.” They rolled back a bit, to face the bar, “Mind you, I’ve never had Hag’s, but I wouldn’t doubt Colin could cook them up in a savory dish.” They grinned, showing sharp teeth.

((My search history now...))

Callan grimaced and gave all the troll and hag-brain eaters a very concerned look. Suddenly he didn’t want lunch anymore. “Nutters, the lot of yer…”

“No. As far as I’m aware their blood is poisonous, and I brought ‘em back fer Hannah. She needs ‘em fer… potions n’ sh*t.” Callan said to all involved.

“Aye, but you’d need ter be part of the Hunters guild.” He answered Tobias’ question.

Through the kitchen door, Colin the four armed cook gave Urzoth a wave. As they asked after breakfast he gave them a tip of his hat and got to work rustling something up for the half-orc.

Urzoth may have seen the man soundlessly chuckle as he overheard the savoury hag head comment.

((I don’t think it’s come up yet, but thought I better mention this because there are some veterans about. 😅 Colin can’t speak.))

Morgana wiped her sleeve over her mouth. Her eyes glazed over slightly "Not to mention the cognitive benefits."
Shaking away the vapors, she regarded Callan with a haughty stare, "Poisonous blood? Pssshh. A trifle to deal with." She put her jar of eyes away. "Perhaps this Hannah being will be willing to deal with me. Where is her chop shop?"

“Downstairs in the Infirmary usually.” Callan said to Morgana, a slightly disturbed look on his face whenever her eyeballs swivelled in opposite directions.

Callan didn’t return Tobais’ grin. “Yeah, but… guild’s full right now-“

“No it ain’t.” Barry so helpfully interrupted as he stopped to look up at the newcomer. Callan could have kicked him out of the front doors.

“You lookin’ ter join?” The Dwarf asked Tobias.
