Here at The Hungry Earth we leaf (tee hee) our old herbs behind so that they can be replaced with their tropical equivalent.
Missing some crucial herb from your den? Let's find it's tropical brother and add it!
Papaya leaves/fruitComing at you hard with all that it can do, here's the Papaya! Used for high blood pressure, stomachaches and intestinal problems.
The fruit along is a cure for fungus and ringworm!
TradescantiaHelpful in the treatment of coughs that are not a symptom of a much more serious condition so maybe you've just had a scratchy throat or something or you want to lie to people and hide how sick you really are.
Nin
This weird little dude is blood coagulant, a fever reducer, an antiseptic and it is used as a tonic for the treatment of food poisoning, nausea
Aloe
Ah yes, the Aloe plant. Good for burns, coughs and breaking the tips off to rub on the person next to you.
Ginger Root An oldie but a goody, Ginger root is perfect for stomachaches, but it can be a someone "strong" when it comes to taste.

Bay GeraniumSitting there nice and pretty is the Bay Geranium this unassuming flower eases breathing and itching skin should one be afflicted with such.
BreadfruitWelp. This doesn't look like any loaf of bread I've ever seen, but this "breadfruit" plant is here to help those with high blood pressure and who doesn't have that these days?
CatnipOh boy, here we go! Catnip may have its reputation for letting any self respecting cat's fur get a little too loose, but here at "THE" we love it for the pain relieving qualities that it has hidden in those delicious smelling leaves.
Cat's Claw
A plant after our own hearts! It is used as an immune system booster, anti-inflammatory, and has anti-oxidant properties.
It has proven useful in treating arthritis, bursitis, allergies and numerous bowel and intestinal disorders.
Cockspur
We live in the tropics (in case you hadn't noticed yet) and snake bites are all too common around here. Luckily the bark and root of the bright red Cockspur can help to slow down snake venom from entering the bloodstream.
MimosaTime for a stiff drink? Unfortunately not, but this frilly pink flower induces sleep and relieves pain!
So maybe it's more like a drink than we thought...
Periwinkle
Used as a poultice the pretty little Periwinkle is quite adept at stopping the flow of blood plus it smells nice! So there's another plus side.
Picao Preto
Despite its prickly exterior Picao Preto flowers are great at healing lacerations and sores when made into a poultice.
Provision Tree
A cure for anemia, low blood pressure, fatigue, and even a stress reducer? The Provision Tree flowers are a "must have" for any modern day Medicine Cat.

Don't we all need a little help sometimes?
Honey
Great for soothing infections, this miracle paste is great for soothing smoke damaged lungs/ sore throat and help keep a cough at bay.

Vines
We've got plenty of these hanging (tee hee) around at "THE" the most common uses for vines here are for splinting broken limbs and wrapping whatever it is that needs to be wrapped.
Got a better use for them? Go for it.
LeavesWe have plenty of those here! Just as they always have leaves of all shapes and sizes can be used for tons! From wrapping poultices to using them as convenient carrying cases leaves are only as creative as you are!
Salt Water
Were surrounded by it here on "THE" salt water has many benefits that any good Medicine Cat needs in their arsenal. This convenient resource is known for its immune boosting qualities, in addition to relief when it comes to joint pain, skin conditions, and asthma. As if the ocean needed to offer more, it is also widely used for it's ability to heal infections, keep wounds infection free and it also helps to speed up the healing process so get over to your local beach right now!
