She sat in her room, looking for something to wear at the reaping, which began at two in the afternoon. She was getting tired of the reaping coming around and wished that it would all just come to an end. But her wish probably will never be commanded, not as long as the capital has anything to do with it. A soft sigh passed over her lips as she pulled out an all white dress, along with white flatted shoes to match. She sat those items on the bed then turned to her door as a knock came over her door, her mother stuck her head in.
"Are you alright, dear?" She asked in a sweet tone. Her head nodded as she couldn't really say anything at this point, the only thing on her mind is the reaping that was nearing closer and closer with each passing minute and second. Her eyes shifted from her mirror up to her clock as she briefly checked the time. She glanced back into the mirror, her face tells the story that she hasn't slept in days. She combed her blonde locks of hair and applied make-up to her face, making it look a little better. She got up from her seated position and left her room, walking into the dining hall, where her mother, father and little brother was sitting.
"Ah, how are you doing, Elise?" Her father asked her in a cheery tone. Of course he was cheerful, he didn't have to go to the reaping but shouldn't he be terrified for her - Not going to happen. Elise eyed him before answering. "I'm doing alright. I see that you are well." She tried her best to smile but couldn't bring herself to do it. Her father scoffed at her response to the question then quieted down. She sort of firm nodded her head at him, knowing that she did indeed shut her up. Her mother brought a plate over to her but she waved it away.
"I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't do anything right now." She said while placing her head into the palm of her hands. Maybe she doesn't have anything to worry about because being apart of the first district, she has been training for this since birth - Not literally. She scanned her family, who had all of their eyes placed on her. Elise sighed and got up from the table and went back to her room, closing her door behind her.
Within that moment and time, she glanced back over at the clock and it was almost two. She scurried to get ready because she didn't want the peacekeepers to come and get her from her house and throw her in jail. Elise looked over herself in the mirror and smiled but then wiped it away quickly. She tied her long blonde locks of hair up into a high ponytail then nodded her head in approval while leaving her room and walking back into the dining hall, her families eyes piercing through her skin, once again.
"Well, off to the reaping I go." She said while hugging everyone even her little brother, who wasn't eligible for the games but had one more year before he is. She sighed and watched as her mother started to cry, Elise promised that she wouldn't. She had to stay strong, not only for her family and herself, but so that the people don't see that she had been crying and automatically deem her weak.
She wondered if she could catch up with her childhood friend and walk with him to the reaping.
Elise walked towards his house to see if had left yet or not.
