Welcome To Northbrook

And welcome to your new home, if you don't live here already of course. So, where to start...oh How about this. Northbrook is a small town of just 301 people, which may seem like a lot just moving here, but once you get to know everyone here, it's not a bit deal. I'll go and give ya a head start though. Mister Millard runs the corner store down near the highschool, and his wife, a lovely woman, runs the diner. Then we have Bev the lifeguard down at the pool, and the Mayor Michael Downing. Hmm, let's see, oh! How about I tell ya about some of the stuff we go going on here. Since we're a small town, we only have three schools, all on the same street as well. There's a park in the dead center of town, and near that is the grocery store and the corner store i mentioned a little bit ago. Then we have the town hall, the pool, the theater and the...what? You wanna know about that house on the hill? If youdon't mind my asking, but why? The people there are a little odd, don't come down often and I think them kids are homeschooled. Oh, you wanna know what it is, okay. It's a group home for troubled kids and young adults, or that's what I've been told. There are plenty of rumours going about. Nothi bff you need to worry about though kid, but be careful around the folks up there...rumors aside, they are rather odd.

Ah, another new one....well, Welcome to Songbird's Rest. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Faye, the current caretaker here. I know, I seem a little young, but don't fret, I know what I'm doing. If you're planning on staying, we have plenty of room, this is a rather big place. Huh? Oh, you wanna know what's on the ground here. Okay no problem. So, up front, as you can see we don't have much but a nice lawn and some scatter toys from the youngins. Out back though, that's a whole different story. To left of us is a foresy, all part of the property, and if you follow the trail, you'll find the lake. Don't worry, there's nothing deadly out there. There's also a nice cabin that's part of a camping like area, it's a nice place to relax, since things can get a little hectic in the house. There's a big greenhouse out back, which is where most of our produce comes from, so everything is pretty healthy, and if you want anything from town write it down so I'll get it when I go. There's also some swings, and a big fire put we roast marshmallows in. Then is the training grounds, where you can practice with your abbilites and hone your skills. You dont have to stay, but I would like it, the more the merrier am I right?

Faye groaned, slamming the snooze button on her alarm clock before dragging herself up outta bed. She never was a morning person, but 8:30 was the longest she'd let herself sleep in. She rubbed her eyes, squinting at the bright light already shinning through her window. Ugh, She hated how eailer the sun rose in the summer. Absolutely hated it, but it did make it a little easier to wake up. Pulling on a tank top and shorts, Faye headed downstairs to make some coffee, humming a random tune as she did. Faye wasn't sure if the others were awake, and if they were she's start breakfast as well, but for now, it was coffee.

Tyson yawned and stretched, his face almost completely smothered by his black cloud of hair. His sheets were cool against his body, but the warm air of morning was just too tempting to resist. He wrestled himself out of the bed and onto the floor, then quickly slipped into a new t-shirt and the most comfortable pair of sweats he could find.

Stumbling down the stairs and into the kitchen, Ty's bare feet slapping against the cold floor were enough to announce his presence to Faye, who had also awakened. Greeting her with a simple pat on the back, Ty made his way to the electric teapot and, filling it with water from the sink, pushed the button to make it boil. Faye might have been his sister, but they have very different tastes. Personally, Ty considered coffee disgusting, and much rather preferred tea.

Faye was sleepily standing there, her eyes closed when Tyson walked in, patted her on the back. Turning to see who it was, and smiled. It wad always nicd to see her brother first thing before the more...entergetic people came down. "Morning Ty," She mumbled. "Anyone else awake?" Faye then added, before looking back at the coffee pot. boo. boo.

"Not that I know of. It's pretty quiet up there." Ty leaned with his back against the counter, rubbing his eyes with one hand. "Didn't you say someone would be coming today? Or... Tomorrow? I can't remember." He wasn't one for keeping things straight in his mind, which was why Faye was the real person in charge. He could never handle that sort of thing.

"Because I'm telling you, we gotta shake things up around here. It's been slow." Ty turned and opened the cupboard behind him, feeling around for a certain object. "Uh... Where's my mug?"

Daisy rose up immediately from her bed and jumped off to prepare herself for another day. It was morning already!

She quickly snatched her change of clothes and went running to the bathroom. She took care of her needs, cleaned her hands, fixed her hair and changed her clothes. Then the dreaded moment came. Brushing. Her. Teeth.

'Oh no, not this again!'. She was very tempted to not brush her teeth and go straight to the kitchen, but she was pretty sure Miss Jackson would figure it out and scold her, not having sensed her using her toothbrush.

'Oh, what the heck' she thought and started doing the torture that was brushing her teeth. As soon as she finished she darted out of there, speeding towards the kitchen.

"Good morning, sleepy heads!" she chirped as she came in the kitchen.

It would be a good few minutes before he got a straight answer from his sister. At first, it was incoherent mumbles as she got not only hers, but his coffee mug from the cup cabinet. Which, by the way, was mostly filled with plastic cups, the coffee mugs kept a little higher up. No body wants a repeat of the Winter of '04. Nobody. Anyway she slid his mug towards him, before filling her own with coffee, liquid creamer, and three scoops of sugar. She then dat down, took a few sips, and nodded. "Yeah....I did...not sure when he's gonna show up though." She muttered, before taking more sips of her coffee. But she nearly spilled some as a perky little lady came bounding in with a chipper tone. Ugh...morning people. Nevertheless, Faye looked at her and smiled. "Good morning flower, how'd you sleep?" boo. boo. Fandom Infatuation Fandom Infatuation

Rune hadn't slept. He had been awake all night, holed up in his room reading about stars and planets and stuff. The only way he knew it was time to leave and meet the day was when sunlight started to filter in through the blinds in his bedroom. With a heavy, disappointed sigh, Rune set the heavy textbook aside and pulled himself out of bed. He had meant to sleep last night, but looking out the window at the stars made him want to learn about constellations, so he had pulled out the book and decided to study it all night instead.

Pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, the boy changed from star-patterned pajama shorts to a pair of baggy capri's and his usual pink and purple runic mage's robe with a plain white t-shirt underneath. He briefly ran his hands through his hair to free it of tangles, though it still looked like a mess afterwards, but more of a stylized mess. He took a stop at the bathroom to clean his piercings before shuffling downstairs, taking in the room. "Good morning," he lazily greeted. He could feel his familiar stirring, despite not taking a form at the moment. Well, there went all chance of going back to sleep. "May I have some coffee?" he asked, rubbing his eyes, unaware of the large bags underneath the eyes.

"I slept great!" she smiled.

"Miss Jackson you wouldn't believe what a crazy dream I saw today! There were talking books and -" she ranted on and on until she was interrupted by someone else entering the kitchen.

"Oh, good morning Rune!" she greeted her fellow housemate.

Seeing him ask for coffee made her realize that she hadn't eaten anything. She went to the fridge and grabbed the bottle of milk and put it the counter. Then she proceeded to go to the cupboard, went on her tiptoes trying to find her plastic cup.

Rune waved a good morning to Daisy, stifling a yawn in the process. Watching her struggle for a cup, he stepped up next to her and snagged her cup off the cabinet shelf, setting it on the counter before her. "Here," he stated bluntly. That was how he was before his coffee - very blunt. With another yawn, he pulled down a mug, as hot coffee couldn't be served in plastic cups, and poured himself a glass from the freshly made pot. He debated just taking the entire pot, but set it back on the coffee maker, telling himself he'd make more for himself later.

Just fortunate enough to not have to listen to Daisy's dream, he poured the one third creamer and four rounded tablespoons of sugar into the drink. How Rune so desperately wanted sleep now... the thought of soft, warm blankets and pillows made him yawn again. As if on their own accord, his arms lifted the mug to his lips, and he reluctantly sipped the hot beverage, cooled greatly by the liquid creamer. It was incredibly sweet, to the point where most other people would have been repelled by the sweetness. But Rune wouldn't have the coffee any other way.

It was only after he had emptied half the cup did he realize his familiar was attempting to wake him up by controlling his body. Growling under his breath, Rune hopped up onto the counter at an open space, unabashedly sitting on the counter and listening to everyone's conversations. He'd need a second cup to fully wake up today. Rune's familiar materialized as a translucent, intangible pink spirit next to him, purring and pressing its back against him like a cat, which it was no bigger than. The dragon didn't seem to care that the spines on its back pushed into Rune's leg despite its intangibility, nor that it actually kinda hurt. With a wave of his free hand, Rune shooed the spirit away. The familiar made a cooing noise, picking up its front set of arms and walking on all fours across the counter, moving through items with ease. The spirit stopped next to Daisy's cup, tilting its head curiously like a dog, its illustrious pink eyes looking up to Daisy expectantly.

"Emrys," Rune called, cautioning the spirit. The dragon familiar dipped its head slightly, glancing to the mage, but it didn't move.

"Hey! I could have gotten that myself." Daisy said as she pouted.

She giggled at the antics of the familiar. It was so cute! As soon as it approached her cup she became suspicious. She gave it a dirty look and held her cup up and away from the creature.

"Now, now, that trick won't work on me!" she said smiling, her teeth on full view, hoping to intimidate the familiar.

Ty glared at Faye, as she took her time with his mug. He snatched it from her with a haughty look, letting it down beside him and putting in the various tea condiments inside. He watched as two others awoke, both very different. One was shark-girl, a female somehow shorter than him that he knew had odd teeth, and magic-boy, who was just overall weird in terms of abilities.

Ty took a sip of his freshly made tea, then cursed under his breath. "Shit, that's hot." Setting it down, he reached into the fridge and pulled out a carton of milk, then poured some of that into his mug. "I was gonna head down to the cabin sometime today. Someone told me a few shingles are loose, and I think the gutters need cleaned out." He directed his plans toward Faye, letting her know that he wouldn't be here for most of the day.

Kalo feel onto his bed. He had been hanging upside down from the wooden drawbridge that hung above the bed. 'Why are they so noisy. ' he thought, covering his ears. It didn't help of course, he was hearing what they where saying mentally. 'Ugh! They should go to sleep or something. ' his silver eyes flicked around the room. Eventually, he got control over his thoughts, blocking out the others.

'Food.' He nodded, rolling off the bed. Opening the door and greeted by lights, he padded down to the kitchen.

He looked at all the people, and he took a step back, scared. He only been here a week, and he was very uncomfortable when approaching a group, once he was around though, it wasn't so bad. He slowly walked to the group, double checking his gloves. He silently climbed the counter and grabbed his cup, looking at the group blankly.

He filed his cup with water and moved away from the group, and drank his cup in silence, his eyes flicking from person to person. FireMaiden FireMaiden

Nate was running, he could not see. Flsmes danced in his vision, yells grew behind him. His feet where echoing every step he took, on the gravel rode. The shouts grew more and more until he tripped, falling face first onto the ground, he tried to get up but a foot slammed onto his his back. He looked behind him to see Mari. He was confused. Why would Mari hurt him? She done so much to protect him. The Mari he looked at smirked. "You disappointed me." Her whisper hit his ears.

Tears hit his eyes at her scorn. She kicked him in the side, and he couldn't contain it, His scream pierced the dream, Mari stumbled back, smirking even thought she was being ripped apart by his scream. "Look what you've done Nate. Look at what you've done!" Her yell made him scream louder.

His body was thrashing back in reality, his mouth opened about to scream, and the sleeping boy couldn't stop it. C r y s t a l s C r y s t a l s

Mari was in her room, all lights off and dark out curtains closed. Her laptop the only light available. 'Ugh. Lame!' She thought, slamming the top shut. She locked herself in her room for the past few weeks, ever since she was forced to this place.

Nate had brung her food and water, and begged her to come out. She always refused though. Telling him she didn't feel confident about this place yet. Though she just didn't like the people. Halie wasn't happy with her, but who cared. Halie was a lame person anyway.

Crawling out of bed, pushing the curtain aside to get to the door. She walked down to the kitchen, since she didn't know where Nate's room was. She wore a black top that exposed the top of her back. (Like the white one in her picture.) and black yoga pants, with grey socks. Her hair still dampen from last night shower.

'Ehh. Effort or no? ' she wrestled with her thoughts. 'Fine effort.' She decided heading over inside the kitchen. She yawned and stretched her arms above her head. "Morning." She said. 'A+ for effort!!! Whoo!' She thought , walking over to get herself a mug. She made her self a cup of warm tea, adding a little sugar into it.

She took a sip, and eyes looking at everyone in the kitchen. "Hola." She said quietly. C r y s t a l s C r y s t a l s

Halie looked up as whimpers filled the room. She looked over to her cousin, and setting her math text book down. "Nate? Nate?" She said, patting the boys arm. She started panicking. 'Not again.' She grabbed the boys left hand and entwined it with hers. He started thrashing, hitting the wall with his feet and right arm.

"Nate wake up! Wake up!" Tears fell from her eyes, she hated seeing him trapped like this. He started mumbling, and leaned close to hear. 'What did I do wrong? I've worked so hard. ' he was crying now, and his mouth opened to scream. Halie's eyes widened and clamped her free hand down tight on his mouth.

Her eyes pulsed violet, drawing away his pain and emotion levels. His thrashing settled, but the tears remained. "Nate~ wake up! It's just a nightmare! " she whispered to him.

She released his mouth, and wiped both her and his tears away. 'He looks so helpless. And there's nothing I can do. I don't have his dream abilities, and he can't use them on himself.' She thought, sighing. C r y s t a l s C r y s t a l s

The boy felt pressure in his hand, then his mouth. But his sleeping body didn't register it. After thrashing around a little more, he opened his eyes and wrapped his arms around Halie crying.

He looked into her eyes, reading them. He could see concern , but sadness and fear swirled in them. They didn't hide what he didn't want to see. The disappointment that she had, whether at him or herself he didn't know. He assumed it was him and started crying again.

"I'm a failure aren't I Halie?! All I do is ruin everything. Everyplace we go, I never get better!" His voice started rising, and he felt calmness suddenly flow into his system.

"Stop it! I don't want your help. " he was upset, because he couldn't control his emotions. Because he almost made them lose their home. Because he could have just killed his cousin.

He cried in her arms for a few mintues, trying to compose himself, once he did and his emotions leveled out, he realized what he did. He never lashed out at someone. And the hurt in Halies eye ached his innocent heart.

"I'm s-sorry Halie. I didn't mean it..." he said, his eyes stopped glowing and he became relaxed. "Do we have anymore tissues?" He asked, taking the blanket and rubbing his cousins eyes to clear away the tears. "Don't cry Halie. I didn't mean to yell Nessa. " he called her the nickname he made when he was younger.

Rune came in and asked about coffee, but it was free game so she didn't answer. "That's...thats nice flower," She answered. Faye then zoned pit again, drinking her coffee slowly. A few more people trickled in, which caused Faye to stand up. "So, what do you guys want to breakfast?" She asked, refilling her cup. "There's the option of feral or pancakes because we need to use the batter." boo. boo. C r y s t a l s C r y s t a l s Noivian Noivian Fandom Infatuation Fandom Infatuation q r o w q r o w

Daisy greeted Kalo and Mari as they stepped into the kitchen. She still felt a little awkward around them, with them being a little new and all. The fact that they weren't talkative people didn't help at all.

"Pancakes. Pancakes. Pancakes." Daisy started chanting as soon as she heard the breakfast options. She absolutely adored pancakes! She was in no way going to eat stupid cereal. FireMaiden FireMaiden

Kalo perked up at the mention of food. "If we have pancakes, can I help?" He asked, his voice actually a bit deeper than what should be expected for his appearance.

He watched everyone nervously, trying to gauge reactions as he drew back to his corner. The thing was, despite being a loner, he loved to help cook. It was a hidden trait of his.

Halie rubbed his back as he cried in her arms. Pity swelled in her, and she regretted him having known her so well. She didn't reply to anything he said, tears stung her eyes.

When he started ranting, she widened her eyes and started syphoning again. Nate had every right to be upset. He was only thirteen and so much was expected of him.

When he pushed away her syphon, she cried silently. Letting him comfort himself when she knew she couldn't. she waited till he composed himself before placing a hand on his cheeks. A small smile on her face.

He wiped the tears from her face, and she nodded. "It's not your fault dear. It's my fault for not realizing you can't control your nightmares." She said , smiling. "Come one stop this crying and let's go eat. She said, fixing her baggy white tee shirt so it wasn't rumpled. She let him cling to her back as she took him downstairs.

"I think we should have pancakes! " she said as the came into the kitchen. Raising a brow as she saw Mari. "Hello everyone ." She greeted. FireMaiden FireMaiden q r o w q r o w

Faye smiled, "Pancakes it is then. You want anything added to them, or just plain?" She asked, sliding over to the fridge. Yes, She slid, she has socks on. Mismatched star wars socks that have seen better days. Opening it, she grabbed the bottle of premade pancake batter, before looking at the add in options. "Okay, lets see..theres blueberries, strawberries, chocolate chips," She daid, before one of the newer people spoke up. With another smile, She looked at him, "Of course you can." Kalo grinned, like full out smiled at the chance to help cook. He didn't speak anymore, but pointed the best he could to the blueberries.

He enjoyed all told the choices, but strawberries where not nearly as good as blueberries. And he wasn't in the mood for chocolate.

He wiggled his way onto the counters and swung his legs. FireMaiden FireMaiden

Mari watched as the discussion of food took up. "Pancakes? " she suggested just after it was announced. 'Oh. Well then.' She looked over to Kalo, and watched as he pointed to blueberries. 'Hmm. Chocolate, plain , Or blueberries? ' "I like blue beries. " she said, unlike the eleven year old who pointed, she acted her age. Spoke. Even if it was a horrifying experience.

Nate nodded, and climbed onto his cousins back, clinging tightly as they walked into the kitchen. "I want chocolate chip!" He said happily at the mention of chocolate. He saw Mari and seemed a bit nervous, but he smiled glad that she came out of her cave.

He waved and greeted everyone, lightly tapping Halie to put him down. He slid off her back and climbed onto a stool and sat happily. "How is everyone?" It was like earlier never happened.

Mari grinned as Nate came in, but her neutral face replaced it when she saw Halie. "Hello Nate. Halie." She said, then moved over to make room for them.

The kitchen was now becoming quite crowded, and while Ty was good with people, he liked his distance in the morning. Quickly realizing that he wouldn't be able to get out without squeezing past people and most likely spilling his tea, Ty decided to go with a different option.

Ty grabbed his mug with his right hand, and in his other, cupping it so that a small glowing purple sphere formed. With trained accuracy, he flung the the orb past the heads of everyone in the kitchen and onto the opposite wall several feet out of the small room, where it expanded into an oval portal that glistened with iridescent colors and shifted like liquid. Turning to face the wall behind him, Ty flung another ball there, where the portal expanded to show the view from the first portal. He stepped through, then snapped his fingers to cause both to shrink until they disappeared.

With a satisfied smile, Ty and his precious tea stepped onto the porch, where the former sat on a wooden chair, sipping the latter in the clear atmosphere of morning.
