The History of the Ages

First came the Age of Ancients.

The world was ruled by the Everlasting Dragons, immortal and powerful beings that owned the gray, cloudy skies and anything under them. At some time during this age, the First Flame produced Lord Souls, powerful vessels to channel energy through. Gravelord Nito, Lord Gwyn and the Witch of Izalith were three individuals who used these vessels to gain power amoungst their peers, and strengthen themselves. The Furtive Pygmy is another, smaller individual that obtained a lord soul, but dissapeared from history henceforth.

The three lords used their combined power to challenge the Everlasting Dragons, starting a very long and destructive war. Neither side was able to gain an upper hand in the war until Seath the Scaleless, a dragon who was not immortal and shunned by the others, aided the undead by teaching them in the art of lightening in exchange for the title of Duke and the first pick of the plunder once the dragons had been defeated. With this newfound power, and information given to them by Seath, the three lords and their forces were able to triumph over the dragons, and thus ended the Age of Ancients.

Thus began the Age of Man, the Age of Fire.

The Age of Fire began after the defeat of the Everlasting Dragons, at the hands of Gwyn and the other two lords. This was a time of prosperity for humans born of the first flame, and much was peaceful for a time. However, like most flames, the first flame began to die. Gravelord Nito simply accepted the fact that the Age of Man was coming to an end, and began a long, lengthy slumber. The Witch of Izalith attempted to create another everlasting flame from her lord shard, yet failed, resulting in Izalith becoming flooded with lava and all manners of vile monsters and creatures. Lord Gwyn sealed the Witch and her twisted children within Izalith, and sacrificed himself by linking himself to the first flame, causing himself to become hollow and unnaturally prolonging the age of fire, also creating the curse of the undead.

And lastly came the age of Dark. If it could be called that.

There came the second Great Lord, the Chosen Undead. The Chosen Undead was one branded with the curse of the undead, yet believed and went about an ancient prophesy. The 'Chosen Undead' was said to be able to prolong the age of fire forever. This was not true, however, as the chosen undead rang both bells of awakening, ancient devices used to summon the Primorial Serpents, one such serpent, Kingseeker Frampt, answered the call. He guided the Chosen Undead to retrieve the lord souls from Gravelord Nito, the Witch of Izalith, Seath the Scaleless, and the Four Kings, darkwraiths who aquired one by whatever vile means. After the fight with the Four Kings, their leader, another Primorial Serpent, Darkstalker Kathe, attempted to sway the Chosen Undead's path by suggesting he was the descendent of the Furtive Pygmy, and thus entitled to the title of Lord of Dark as opposed to Lord of Cinder. The Chosen Undead was able to unlock the final gate to Lord Gwyn's chambers, where the first Lord of Cinder was finally slain. Wether or not the Chosen Undead linked to the first flame or allowed it to die, it does not matter. The Curse of the Undead continued, and others traveled to the  Kiln of the First Flame, both to link with it themselves, and to rule this age of dark to their liking. Thus, the viscous cycle continues, constantly cycling between light and dark, good, and evil, lawful and chaotic.
