Fantasy The Harbingers (Character Sheet)

SpookySkeleton

A Life without death, is a story unfinished.
As a new member of The Harbingers, you are required to bind yourself to a Faction, but before we get into that, tell us a bit more about yourself...
(Race options below with a brief summary)
  • Name:
  • Race:
Human: Known for their adaptability, humans can use almost any kind of weapon with the right training and aptitude. With their determination, they can stand up to any foe, no matter their creed or strength.
Elf: The creators of mana, they are able to naturally tug at the planes of existence to harness great magical abilities, ranging from fiery maelstroms to miracle revivals. Their natural abilities give them an edge in battle, especially in large groups
Trolls: Big, hefty brutes. As the definiton of brawn over brains, these barbaric people value strength above all else, if you were not strong, you would not survive. They are a large race with weapons just as large, they exceed at taking hits, laughing them off, and then plowing the fields of battle with enemy blood.
Seraphim: Angelic beings, similar to humans, however they utilize the light within themselves as their weapon. They serve their deity, the Archivist, and follow his word without fail. A weapon and shield are the cornerstone to a Seraphim's toolkit.
Mako: Human, cat hybrids with keen senses and even keener reflexes. They specialize in stealth, recon, and stalking their prey.
Devilborn: Demonic-like creatures with grotesque traits, they specialize in mischief and destruction, their entire arsenal comes from the book they are born with, containing all their dark secrets, strengths, and weaknesses.
Kobold: Pack animals with mostly no magical abilities, but on rare occasions they can get magical powers from their ancient dragon bloodlines. They are very good team players and have learned that there is strength in numbers.
Lycanite: Essentially werewolves, but they are more often feral and do not revert back to their human forms. Once they digest human blood, their humanity leaves them, and the more human blood they digest, the more hungry they get for it.
Homunculus: A race of people brought back from the dead. Is considered one of the most diverse groups in all of the mortal realm, yet they are also the most rare. It takes a lot of magic to create one of these beings and more often than naught they are man-made.

Name: Rush ✧
Race: Mako ✧
Weapon: Claws, daggers ✧
Attire: Adventurer's gear (cloth), leather arm + leg bracers ✧
Desc. of life before The Harbringers:
Rush was born into a large family with lots of siblings. As is customary for her kind,
when she became old enough, she left the colony in order to begin her own life.
She tried to join an adventurer's guild but was rejected due to her youth and lack of experience.
Instead, she began working as a solo bounty hunter, where her Mako traits came in handy for
stalking and tracking her targets. She worked as a bounty hunter for years, and eventually may
have been able to find an adventuring group to travel with, however at this point she had given
up on her childhood ambitions to become a famous adventurer and instead preferred to live only
for herself and, of course, her paycheck. Rush met her untimely demise at the hands of the last
criminal she had been tailing, who had a personal grudge against her due to his first capture
and arrest by her years ago. The rest is history.

Asla

Race: Seraphim

Weapon: Longsword and heater shield emblazoned with the symbol of the Archivist.

Outfit: Full silver plate armor. Her tabard also depicts the symbol of the Archivist.

Faction: Silver Lions

After being orphaned as an infant, Asla was surrendered to a nearby temple of the Archivist. There she was trained from the time she could walk to be a holy warrior. This resulted in a very sheltered childhood with little exposure to the rest of the world. While some might have found it suffocating, Asla was content with her little world. The work was sometimes grueling, but she never complained or resisted. She found happiness instead in the small wonderings of everyday life.

After many years of training as an initiate, Asla finally graduated as a young adult. With full warriorhood came a certain amount of freedom to travel with small groups to carry out the Archivist's will. Their quests varied greatly in difficulty and task, and though Asla completed each without question, it wasn't her favorite part of the position. She much preferred the opportunity to travel to new places and talk to people about their own experiences in life. She was fascinated by the number of unique stories that people had. Each new story Asla heard would be carefully written down in a small journal, and when she felt lonely or discouraged, she would reread some of the stories.

Ultimately, her compassion and kind heart would be her downfall. Her party came upon a small village that had been ransacked and set ablaze by bandits. When they got closer, Asla realized she could hear screaming from inside one of the homes. Without a second thought, she leaped into action. There was a small child that had somehow escaped the bandits' attention, likely by hiding under the bed, but was now stuck under a fallen wooden beam. Asla got to work trying to free the boy, but before she could be successful, the house collapsed on the two of them, snuffing out Asla's light for good.

  • Name: Rowan Grimly
  • Race: Devilborn
  • Weapon: A heavily enchanted longsword (If i can't have that, then i want to be an elf and have that.)
  • Normal Battlefield Attire: Black cloak, armor on forearms, blood stained shirt and pants.
  • Description of your life before The Harbingers: Before the harbingers, Rowan was a simple thief. A misfit. One of the misunderstood. All the devilborns hated him because they thought he was to kind, stealing only when he needed it. All the rest hated him because he was a devilborn. Because he stole. Because, he didn't fit in. At first, he tried getting the devilborns to like him. He tried acting mean in all situations. The devilbors just whispered behind his back, saying, "Once a misfit, always a misfit." or "Can you believe hes trying to fit in? Go die in a hole, man." Then he tried fitting in with the rest. He acted kind. He did not steal. But every time something went missing, they blamed it on him. He did not believe, the world was so narrow minded. And when everywhere he went, he was treated with negativity, he started to train. He stole a sword and a couple of enchantment ingredients. He trained himself. And after a couple years of building on his fighting skill, he was ready to take on anyone. Or so he thought. (Reference to the rp's main backstory.)

Name: Axel Bishop
Race: Seraphim
Age: 16
Weapon: Medium-sized sword and shield
Normal Battlefield Attire: Gold Plated Armor
Faction: Archivist's Light
Description of your life before The Harbingers: Axel was born and raised in a loving household. His parents were always careful with him and protected him from the dangers of the world. However, some may say they had succeeded at this a bit too well, because Axel had never been able to learn to protect himself due to his parents constant pampering. Growing up, Axel had always wanted to be seen as an admirable hero that could defend anyone in danger. So naturally, he had asked multiple times for his parents to teach him combat. Unfortunately, every conversation with this question asked ended in the same way; They would always say he wasn’t prepared.

After having the same excuse said to him multiple times, Axel had grown impatient and decided to take matters into his own hands. Taking his fathers armor and weapons, he set out to explore the world on his own at the darkest hours when his parents assumed he was asleep. He traveled to many different areas such as Caves, Mountains, and Forests, all the while overcoming obstacles and dueling troublesome creatures. There had eventually come a time when Axel became overconfident, and thought he could battle any creature and come out triumphant. However, nothing could prepare him for what happened that day.

Axel doesn’t fully remember what had taken place. But what he does remember is that he had snuck out, as per usual, with his weapons and armor. And found himself cornered by unknown creatures atop a mountain. A sudden rockslide had occurred, and despite Axel's best efforts, he had gotten swept in it.

Name: Aeria
Race: Elf
Weapon: a small sacrificial dagger
Normal Battlefield Attire: currently has none, just her hooded cloak and loose dress
Description of your life before The Harbingers: When she was still very young she was taken by a cult that worshiped a malevolent deity. She was forced into labor as a cleric, seemingly chosen by this deity as its prophet. Though much torture she was shaped into the idol of this cult. She was regularly used and abused. Some times the cult would attack small towns, dragging aeria along as their healer. One day she was dragged along on for an attack but things hadn’t gone as expected. Soldiers had been tipped off about the attack and had prepared an ambush for the cult. When they arrive Aeria was captured, and as the idol of the cult was publicly executed.

Name: Rouge
Race: human
Weapon: axe + tower shield
Attire: blood-stained plate armor
Faction: Silver Lion

Description before Harbringer:
The Mad Dog of Mograd Empire who made the warzone as her home, a brutal fighter who is actually quite lazy when she's not in battle. Employed as a blood knight by The Emperor to leads charges right into the heart of enemy's formation. Sometimes can be seen chopping the heart of her fallen enemy and drink their blood as a rite to appease her patron deity Arxlan, the God of war. Then she might brought some of the leftover to feed her dogs. The last war she was in, her squad got ambushed and isolated from the rest of the armies. Surrounded and outnumbered, Rouge made her last stance by ordering her squad to kill as many enemies as they can. Her entire squad was wiped out in the end, but they did inflict heavy loss at their attacker.

"SO SALTY."
1615719824304.png
Name: Jinjin

Race: Troll (Abominable species - trolls that mainly populate the coldest of environments; snow and blizzards are their domain.)

Weapon: Steel knuckle bracers, spiked. Anything in the enviroment big enough to swing around. Two protruding ram horns from their head.

Attire: Loin cloth wrapped tightly with leather straps to protect their privates. More leather wrappings around their legs and arms.

Faction: Sapphire Sharks

Life before the Harbringers: Jinjin had lived half of their life as what was deemed most ordinary for an Abominable troll. Hunting, gathering, hibernating, scaring off unwanted visitors etc. However, these trolls are not entirely an isolated bunch -- they were also known to venture into nearby villages to trade, as well as hear stories of the rest of the world. Jinjin was most enamoured about tales and descriptions of the vast oceans. After a long and arduous conversation with their tribe, they had decided that one winter was their last hibernation session with the others.

The Abominable travelled away from the far north to see the ocean, and had even gotten so far to join a ship's crew in hopes to ride the vast deep.
Unfortunately the ship did not know an Abominable troll was on board, nor how they managed to miss a hulking shape pretending to be cargo in the darkness of their brig. A storm had hit the ship...and the last thing Jinjin felt was their lungs filling up with cold, cold sea water. It would've been just like home, if it wasn't all wet.

But that did not stop Jinjin from pursuing their interest towards the sea. Since being given another chance by the Harbringers, they decided to make it count and not back down from their first defeat with the ocean or it's sea vessels travelling its waves.

I’m going to say that JinJin has been with the Harbingers for a good bit, making him more experienced than the ones who have just arrived (the players before you), but other than that, you’re in! Would you like to be a part of our OOC Discord or stay on this site?

Ashley Delbrook

ashley.png

Race: Homunculus

Weapon: At most, she carries a staff forged of sky iron, a black substance that falls from the stars, and her father's living journal with all of his notes.

Normal Battlefield Attire: Ashley's battlefield attire does not differ much from her normal wear. As an accomplished mage, she finds no need for armor, and prefers to wear her enchanted robes and decorative shawls. Of course, these do offer her protection in the form of magical shielding that forms around her when struck, but otherwise give her a faint blue shimmer.

Life Before The Harbingers:
Before her life as a mage, Ashley was a normal elven girl, a strong-willed prodigy at her age for the arcane. She was young, an only child to Valen Delbrook, an accomplished wizard of his own, professor of magic theory and master of several different disciplines in the college he taught at. However, a peaceful life of meditation and teachings was not one that was set out for the Delbrook family. A savage force of raiders sacked and pillaged their city, overwhelming the guard and storming the streets. Whomever they were, they were merciless, stealing women and slaughtering the men. Valen, merely on a stroll home with smoke and flame began to engulf the city in the blink of an eye, surged home to find his daughter being mistreated. He threatened their lives, and to the twisted humor of the raiders, they slit Ashley's throat, killing her and sealing their own fates as an arcane tempest engulfed them and the whole city block.

For a while after that, Valen had struggled to find a way to restore his life. The raiders, despite taking much, had been repelled. Everything could be rebuilt, books could be replaced, except for his daughter. Each day that passed for him weighed heavier and heavier on his back, until one day whilst replacing parts of the college's library catalogue that had burned away, he came across a book on golemancy. This inspired something in him that no man should ever dare to think. He had taught many times that golemancy and necromancy were not that different.

After all, skeletons are nothing more than conveniently person-shaped golems for the aspiring golemancer.

Years of practice pass. Golems come and go. Soon, necromancy takes hold in his heart and blackens it as he researches deeper and deeper into necromancy, and the ingredients necessary. To control life and death is to play god, and to play god is to manipulate the lives of others. Souls are required to properly make a facsimile of life, and assassins and thugs are more than willing to take life for him given the right price. Soon, he had begun the practice creation of what he calls "Homunculi", creatures made of non-living material bound together with golemancy and animated with a soul. Sometimes, they are bound to his will and are perfectly subservient. Other times, they flee as soon as they become conscious, either escaping Valen's clutches or being ended then and there. He would bring his daughter back, but he could not mess up. He had one chance, and it had to be perfect.

After spending months perfecting a body for his daughter, the time came to imbue her soul into her new vessel. Ritual begets practice, and with the addition of many new helping hands, practice became perfect. At least, until Valen's door came crashing down as his comeuppance came bursting through in the form of bounty hunters, here to collect the mastermind of a string of seemingly unrelated murders. With a cry, homunculi of mud and stone moved to stop the bounty hunters, to stall them until Valen could complete his ritual. Though the fighting was brutal, the hunters were undeterred. Thankfully for Valen, with a final draw of his own blood pressed into the cloth of the porcelain doll that lay before him, spread bare on an operating table, Ashley came back to life. Her eyes fluttered open in horror as their personal research lab was invaded, just like the day of her death. Men in masks and metal pointed their axes at her father, who hissed magical commands back at them. As final warnings were made, Ashley saw out of the corner of her eye a crossbow raised right at her father's chest. Valen, too focused to notice, his blue eyes sparking with electricity, barely registered his daughter diving from the table and into the way of the bolt.

He had her for but a moment, but she was dead in his arms again. Life had been given to her once more, as unnatural as it was, but as soon as it came, it went with but a gentle breeze.
