I would also ask why they are fire nation with something very very air nation the whole glider thing was big in air nation

You dont need to speak it just like in the show we will wrote in English but speak avatar language.English because it's the only thing I know how to speak at the moment, so it's usually my placeholder language name if I don't know what people speak, and because making a language is a pain in the ass, even when cross referencing because Japanese is too complicated for me to fabricate, Chinese is almost worse, and I'm not even going to speak of Korean (no offense to anyone who speaks these languages, I'm just finding it difficult to learn without a proper teacher).
Because they aren't exactly fire nation anymore.
The gliders are basically vanilla hang-gliders with wing-like designs to them. They're much heavier and less agile due to the span. The air-nation thing comes from the fact that the Guild is a cultural melting pot of a group who just add things as they go along. They had some airbender influence because it was easier than walking across miles of hot desert.
Earthbenders they make ships and sail on sand much fasterWhat I meant was that since I speak English, my default response to the question "What language do you speak?" Is the word "English".
Yes, and hang-gliders work by getting enough air under the wings to sustain flight. Same concept, but with a hot-as-hell, windy desert with thermals littering the place because of topography. Flights can be anywhere from short jumps to hours IRL, so it's a perfectly decent way to travel when you have limited resources.
For air-benders, they can get off the ground fine. Earth-bender? Rock spire. Fire-bender? Heat under the wings. None if these things? Asking for help is not a sin.

Yes but did ancient or even modern people use the gliders as a safe reliable means of transport?
But your gliders are only really useful in the desert abd I doubt they can carry as much as a wagon or a mousebearDo they, though? And they haven't just been in the desert. As I've said in the ref; Flame and Jet have traveled everywhere to keep off the radars of whoever's looking for them. They were just in the Earth nation when their stories started. They're a mixed-race nomad clan that doesn't stay in one space, so instead of having to make several hundred different forms of transport, they use just one.
Do modern-day people build mansions into the underside of possibly unstable cliffs?
Okay, so, the gliders are used for air bending in the show. Aang explains that they allow him to control the air currents. The other people who use them use them more like hang gliders. What I meant was that since I speak English, my default response to the question "What language do you speak?" Is the word "English".

So are they like the air nomad gliders or hang gliders?

And there are also people who use gliders as transportation (not common, but why would you when you have a car?)Also, there are mansions built on the side of cliffs, so like, kind of similar
If you lose a thermal over an ocean you are dead thats why people use boats you can carry more stuff and likely go faster that why people have mountsYou can fly across oceans with gliders. Mountains. Anywhere where there's air, they can probably glide through, at least for a little bit. And why would they need more than just resources. They're perfectly content with hunting or gathering wherever they land to roost.
...respectfully, what the fuck are you talking about? And there are also people who use gliders as transportation (not common, but why would you when you have a car?)
I think this is the explanationLike, I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just genuinely confused

Gliders fit into one culture that was all but eradicated all other cultures have their own fast speedy easy ways to move around why do they need to steal from the air nation who were all but exterminated.
I think this is the explanation
Guild is a cultural melting pot of a group who just add things as they go along. They had some airbender influence because it was easier than walking across miles of hot desert.
They are called sand benders they bend sand or its called being prepared and packing supplies not spending years reviving a dead cultures secretes and training on a custom made inventionYou hit a wave at the wrong angle, you're also dead.
Because it was cheap, easy, and at the start, the best solution to the issue of dehydration, heatstroke, etc.
And it's also not exactly like people are going to care about cultural bounds when they're sitting on their asses while they try and figure out a way to move efficiently without being stopped.
They are called sand benders they bend sand or its called being prepared and packing supplies not spending years reviving a dead cultures secretes and training on a custom made invention
Then they can make tunnels or turn rocks into fast moving ships it takes 1 earth bender to make a damned train that moves very fast. A water bender could freeze water and just sail the iceHow long is that gonna work? As soon as they get out of the desert, that sand-boat is absolutely useless, unless one of them can go sell it without being pegged as wanted. And even then, they can get stopped by other sand-benders, which is not a risk they can take.
I honestly don't understand why this is so much of an issue
Likely an 8 hour shift more if you get more than one moving the train you fo realize earth benders can shot rocks very fast at targets moving in the sky that aren't agile enough to dodge like your none agile big gliders. And physically, how long can they last? How long can two or three people last bending mountains of rock away? While also running the risk of being vulnerable on the ground.
As I said; these guys are outcasts for whatever reason. There's everyone from petty thieves to assassins in this group.
