The Games of Icarus​

Throughout the ages, there have been many gods, goddesses, and pantheons. It is only a matter of time before a god fades away into mythology, or something rises up to dethrone the deity. When that happens, who will take over the former god’s domain? How is that decided? That is when all of the Deities select two angels and enter them in a tournament, a gladiator-styled battle, though not to the death. Not intentionally anyway. First, the angels are stripped of their ranks and put into teams. The winner will become the new god, and all the other competing angels are then ranked into the new god’s domain based on how well they did in the tournament.
Today such a tournament has been called for. Xaren, Goddess of the Stars, was declared dead, killed by a mortal that wished to claim her power for himself, or so the rumors say. Too bad for that mortal, since godhood is not obtained that way.

Angels​

Angels can be separated into two basic categories: Light and Dark. Do not confuse this with good and evil. A dark-aligned angel can be just as good as a Light angel, and a Light Angel can be as wicked as a demon. In addition, an angel can manipulate the energies specific to their god's domain, but can only amplify existing energy under their god's influence.

The Light and Dark Elements can be further categorized into sub-elements. These are:

Fire - grants the user control over fire and heat, basically fire bending lol
Lightning - the user has control over electricity
Verdure - the user is in touch with nature, they can grow and manipulate plants as they please
Air - users are able to control the current of air around them to create powerful winds
Arcane - the user is able to amplify the effects of other elements but lacks control over any specific element themselves
Pure Light - the light element in its purest form. Users are able to manipulate the light spectrum or concentrate energy into a visible/tangible form (like. Light orbs/beams/ect)

Spoiler: Dark

Water - grants the user control over water, ice, and steam, literally just water bending lol
Metal - is able to manipulate precious metals such as iron or copper (they control the periodic table/jk)
Toxin - users are able to create toxic or corrosive materials. Powers also may or may not be tied to decay/rotting
Earth - the user is able to manipulate rocks, dirt, and mud, basically earth-bending
Void - the user is able to dampen the effects of other elements, though they lack control over any specific element themselves
Pure Dark - the dark element in its purest form. Users are able to manipulate shadows or concentrate dark energy into a visible/tangible form. They are also able to travel through shadows.

“Pure” Angels are extremely rare, and only have abilities related to their core element (Light or darkness).
An angel’s element(s) are determined by the time they are born. Light angels are always born during the sun hours, and Dark angels are born during the moon hours.

Biography: Theuderam once was dedicated to bringing hope to the humans, often appearing on battlefields of the losing side to try and rally hope, but being a Dark Angel, and humans being fairly simple-minded, caused him to have the opposite effect. Eventually, his friend, Eros, tried to use his god's magic to make the humans love Theuderam, but it backfired, making them hate him instead. This lead to a falling-out between the two angels, and Theuderam gives up on ever spreading hope, embracing spreading fear instead. He is bitter and often takes things too far, leading to fights with his fellow angels.

Biography
Sindariel is cold and stern, with an icy gaze that pierces through any he looks upon. A thousand years ago, still an idealistic and young angel, he sought to spread peace throughout the realms of man. He would appear before the leaders of countries and preach of an ideal world where they need not fight amongst each other and could live in harmony. However his words always fell upon deaf ears. As the centuries passed, he realized that it was simply human nature for them to destroy themselves. And so, he began to speak the only language that humans would understand. War. No longer whispering of peace into the ears of tyrants, he instead began spurring them to war. Thousands of times, he himself took to the battlefields of man, slaughtering both sides mercilessly. Humans began to believe that he was in fact a demon under the guise of an angel, and even some of his angelic brethren whispered among themselves that he had gone mad. However, within his steely heart, he still holds onto a glimmer of hope. Hope that through the untold carnage of war, he could bring about a universal desire for peace.

Biography: Eloma was born right on time as her Goddess would say. She was born right when one of her senior angels died, it seemed like destiny for her to take up their mantle. People that know her would describe her as a typical guardian angel. Ever since she was born, she was smiling and laughing. Everything she did she enjoyed and loved, and that’s what she would encourage humans to do. She wanted people to live their life to the fullest, and take all the chances they wanted while being reasonably safe of course. For all her years that’s been alive, she always wanted to see the good in everyone, angels and humans alive. It does make her naive at times, but charming and innocent most of the time. Deep down though, she wants to prove herself to others. The angel that died before she was born was well-known and well-liked by practically everyone. She did her job as an angel exceedingly well and people had expectations, said or unsaid, for Eloma to be just as great as her. That’s probably why she acquired the Archer rank so young for an angel.

Biography: Eros had always been in the spotlight, even at a young age, born an angel of pure light, he was spoiled and pampered by nearly everyone around him. He was a natural at his job, with his innate charisma and charm he was praised for everything he did. He eventually became so well known throughout the realms that Mortals mistakenly deemed him 'Cupid' the god of love. This popularity and praise quickly got to Eros's head and he became egotistical and conceited. Though vain, Eros is far from cruel. At his core, Eros is a gentle soul who wants nothing more than to bring happiness and help people make connections. Despite a notorious flirt and well known matchmaker among mortals, Eros struggles to make connections himself due to his cushy upbringing. He is extremely loyal to the few friends he does have. He also has a bit of a savior complex, viewing almost everyone around him as 'lesser' and in need of his intervention when things go wrong, because he is 'perfect' nothing will go wrong and everything will be fixed because of his involvement.
This is what led to his falling out with Theuderam. Believing he was above the laws of the universe, he tried to use his magic to make Theuderam more liked among mortals, only for it to backfire and cause them to hate his friend even more, causing Theuderam becoming cruel and bitter. Feeling responsible for what happened to Theuderam, he took it upon himself to fight against his friend's wrath, leading to a bitter rivalry between the two angels.
