Personality:
Malex is a confidence-projecting individual who likes to joke around and make friends. Her outgoing personality is a mask for a complex girl who is lonely and slow to trust others, making most of her friendships superficial. Malex is not above using people to get what she wants, but if a real friendship is born, Malex is very loyal and will do everything she can to help them if they are in need.

Most professors don't tend to like Malex. She has a disrespect for school rules and only puts effort into the things she thinks will be useful to her. She's not above stealing school equipment should she require it. She has a love for transfiguration and if someone gets on her wrong side, she's not above using it on them as payback.

Why is your character in detention?:
Malex Strife was caught trying to steal from the potions cupboard. Someone had made some nasty comments about her non-magical brother and Malex wanted to brew up a concoction to get revenger. Unfortunately for her, she was caught, lost points for Gryffindor and given detention.

Just above the shoulder, wavy hair. Her hair is dyed/transfigured blue but is naturally brown. She had grey eyes and stands at 5'4ft. She has a rectangle body type and likes to wear casual, comfortable clothes.

Malex’s father was a pure-blood who worked in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes at the Ministry of Magic. Through his job he met Malex’s muggle mother, an aspiring journalist bent on finding the truth of stories. It was supposed to have been the perfect family; Mum, Dad, big brother and baby Malex. Tragically, their family was the target of a blood-status hate crime.

While Malex and her brother Lawrence were staying with their muggle grandmother, Emilia, in Ireland for a week, their parents were killed by Dark Wizards. The Dark Wizards never came after the children, they were content with simply killing the blood traitor and his wife. A year after that awful event when Malex was 2 years old, her grandmother Emilia passed away peacefully in her sleep, resulting in the two children being put in an orphanage.

Growing up in a muggle orphanage, Malex realised that the one constant in her life was her big brother, Lawrence. He was unable to manifest any magic himself but never resented Malex for her magical gifts. He is 4 years older than her and Lawrence often provided more for Malex than anyone else did.

The two of them often stole to get by. The orphanage didn’t have the funding to offer the children many provisions so anything more that Lawrence and Malex wanted or needed, they had to source themselves. Due to this upbringing of taking anything that wasn't nailed down, Malex developed a mild case of kleptomania. Nowadays, it is an uncontrollable impulse to pocket things that don't belong to her and it is something she is truly struggling to stop.

These criminal tendencies made the siblings a rather undesirable duo for prospective parents. Eventually they were both put into foster care with a woman named Gillian Golding, who cared more about the paycheque that came with the children rather than the children themselves. That suited Malex and Lawrence just fine. They’re out of the orphanage and as long as they stay out of Gillian’s way, they get a roof over their heads and she doesn’t care what the two of them get up to.

Malex’s Hogwarts letter came as a surprise to her. Since then, she has dug a bit into her family history and was astounded to find a long line of pure-blood wizards on her father's side. She worries that she will not live up to his name, but worries more that this opportunity for her will create a rift between her and her muggle/squib brother.

Lawrence Strife - older brother. He is an important part of Malex's life and she is going to struggle being away from him for the first time ever. He often stood up for her or was the voice of reason whenever she wanted to do something daft. Without his careful, thoughtfulness, Malex is more likely to get into trouble. She writes to him often but tends to leave out any detentions she gets.

RIVAL POSITION OPEN - I'm looking for someone to be the one who was cruel to Malex about her brother being a squib. It doesn't have to be a deep rivalry; just something where they try to one-up each other or are in a constant state of getting revenge on one another via pranks or getting the other in trouble. Let me know if you might have a character that would be up for that!
