Agro AF Healer makes me giggle more. But both ideas are quite entertaining. Now, what's funnier, someone having such a split aptitude showing much more on their lesser focus, or a pure healer just being agro AF?
Depends on how you weave it. Pun intended. Originally I made the weaver aptitude to be like a lock down specialist. But I felt that it was too shall we say restricted in its premise. So I opened it up to basically be a master of the battlefield sort of aptitude. But strings seems more like a weaver thing to me but you can absolutely have a dual aptitude as a weaver/striker and work it like that if that's what you're going for.Wait, I want my character to use his flux to make threads he can manipulate. Would that be a weaver thing or a striker thing? Sounds like both to me.
You're not too far off actually from my original vision. I view the flux sort of like a wispy, vapor-like aura by default. But once focused and given shape it can be just about anything with enough training. So an example would be turning steam into a wall of ice for an interceptor's flux barrier. The shape itself is dependent on the creator but so long as the implication of the power is the same there shouldn't be an issue I think. If that makes sense. How does Flux appear in the world? Personally I've imagined it to be vapour-like in appearance and substance, but that's just the first though that pops into my head when I think of the word.
Asking because I'm thinking of an Interceptor character based around creating "Flux Creations" which take the brunt of incoming damage. Think of them as a puppeteer, but instead of puppets and strings its Flux...and Flux.
I like this concept a lot actually. I would say redirection is a better way to view weaver based abilities whereas negation is an interceptor's forte.I've got an idea for an Intercepter/Weaver Teacher with a focus towards interrupting or canceling out the flux abilities of others. Using Interceptor skills to boost his speed and reaction times, he uses Weaver skills to undo existing Flux creations, or maybe redirecting their effects.
Basically a Counter to other Flux users.
I think I'm gonna go with just a weaver now, can't really think of way to work in the striker part with the gimmick that I'm going for.Depends on how you weave it. Pun intended. Concept 1 is interesting as I've never thought to have someone be able to siphon flux from others before. Hence why I gave those with an aptitude to healer such a massive capacity of flux since they're whole gimmick was to transfer flux to others. Though this does make some sense since if one can infuse flux one should be able to do the inverse with the right training. I suppose so long as it's not like an abused thing I don't see a problem with this concept. Like if you're running low on flux and the enemy is upon you. At least this way you can still control the battlefield in a sense while also provide healing.I have a couple of concepts.
- Weaver/Healer: Using capabilities from both affinities, the user's main "gimmick" is to siphon flux from others and redistribute it to those they see fit for healing augmentation, regular healer things.
- Healer/Striker: A sort of bard, the user uses Healer skills to boost allies with the attack enhancing capabilities of the Striker, taking the form of Striker blasts that heal and/or buff allies.
- Healer/Interceptor: Essentially healing barriers and eventually armor that heals allies. A strategy of a mostly Healer individual with minor interceptor capabilities that combines a large flux capacity with basic shielding to make long-lasting, almost self-repairing, low-level shields could be used as well, potentially as a separate gimmick.
Alrighty, understood on all of that. Thank you so much, I appreciate the replyConcept 1 is interesting as I've never thought to have someone be able to siphon flux from others before. Concept 2 is an entertaining thought. Since your infusing your flux which is the healer's skill but you're also providing buffs. It does however make me question the purpose of having the Striker or Interceptor self buff though. Perhaps make it a temporary or minor buff since you're not constantly infusing the target? That's my thought on the idea anyways.
I actually have thought about doing something similar regarding concept 3. I was inspired by Apex Legends Lifeline where she was able to project a barrier while she picked up an ally but expanding upon it. Create a flux barrier dome that also heals slowly from within sort of thing.
Overall I don't have any problems with any of these concepts. I'm mostly just curious on how they will play out and how the other characters will act regarding such powers. But that's why I allowed dual aptitudes. I wanted to see out of the 16 potential outcomes what people could come up with in terms of characters.
As for the year/ how is time kept that's a good question. Time is kept the same as it is for us. As for the year, since I never really gave it much thought, I internally made it Megaman style 20XX lol. But realistically I would say the year is 2058, roughly 30-40 some odd years after the creation of the Gaea Foundation and roughly 20 years after the construction of the Gaea Academy and the Flux Wars. If that makes sense.
