Phoenix from TFH.jpg

Name: Phoenix Orion
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Sexuality: Pansexual
Position: Assistant Med
Education: Graduated from college, midway through his first year of medical school when the aliens showed up.
Accomplishments: Served as a field medic during the extraterrestrial resistance, and doubled as a soldier when needed.

Appearance: Phoenix is tall with a thin frame and bony face. He has a thin jawline and a shaved beard surrounding his mouth that's just beginning to reappear along his thin lips. His hair is perpetually messy and nearly as rebellious as he himself is, and though he cut it back during wartime, it's beginning to grow back in full force. His chocolaty brown eyes are filled with the kindness from prewar times under the many layers of battle-hardened soldier that make up his exterior. Phoenix typically dresses in casual clothes despite his superior's constant nagging about this. They're on a spaceship after all - it's not like there are all that many people around to judge him.

Background: Phoenix was just beginning his first year of medical school when the alien ship appeared overhead. It was visible from his apartment, a constant reminder that things were rapidly changing. He was one of the optimists, never giving up hope that this would end in peace and harmony, that when everything was said and done humanity would come out the other side of the tunnel unharmed. You know what they say: what doesn't kill you make you stronger.
But then it did kill them. Everyone. Phoenix's friends went down first, the innocent kids in adult bodies, and the pain he felt was unimaginable. The people closest to him all left him behind on this planet, and it felt like abandonment. His sister died during week seven of the invasion, shot dead on Halloween night while trick-or-treating by what appeared to be another child. He'll never forget what he experienced when he got the call - like a punch in the chest, hard enough to break his ribs. His heart stopped, his lungs ceased to draw breath. The alien ship he'd tried so hard to ignore was now the thing he hated most in this world, and revenge was the only method of ridding himself of this pain.
So he did. He bought a gun and became a soldier-in-training for the extraterrestrial resistance, using his minor knowledge of medicine and encountering injuries far beyond his capabilities. The experience broke Phoenix and then pieced him back together far stronger than he ever was before. He climbed the ranks, gaining respect among his fellow fighters, and when those in charge announced they were seeking the best soldiers? Well, he was right there with the support of all of those close to him. It was no surprise when he was chosen to board the Savior and complete the mission, but many were surprised that he wasn't given a more important position on board the ship - after all, he was a legend.

Personality: Before the aliens arrived on Earth, Phoenix was a nice guy. Always ready with a warm smile and prepared for a friendly conversation. He would do anything for his friends and family, including give his life. He chose, despite his popularity in his small community, to have close friends rather than many friends, and to love deeply rather than love many. Over the years, he's only been in two or three serious relationships, and the man he was most recently involved with is now gone as well. Now, the only thing he's hanging onto in this hell of a reality is his younger sister and everyone else that was killed, and the almost inhuman desire to avenge her untimely death. The war, though short lasting, had a major impact on him as a person, and he grew from his experiences in combat. He conquered his emotions and learned to hide his true self. He taught himself never to open up to anyone, no matter how trustworthy they seemed, because in this world, trust is man's greatest enemy.
Strengths: Loyal, trustworthy, and kind, but he's still soldier and he shoots to kill
Weaknesses: Can be arrogant, is easily startled, suffers from frequent nightmares
Fatal Flaw: He has an extremely difficult time trusting others
How are they adapting to life aboard the ship?: Phoenix views this mission as a privilege, and was grateful for the opportunity to save Earth and those that are still alive who he considers his friends. Unlike the more negative crew members, he refuses to believe that this is a futile mission, and remains hopeful that they will be successful. Despite this, and his eternal optimism that is often made fun of by his shipmates, he secretly hates his life aboard the Savior, and wasn't truly prepared for the isolation on this ship.
Relationships/Potential relationships: Oh, hell no

Appearance:

Hair Color: Dark brown
Hair Style: Short and wavy

She's mentally strong, and good at solving problems.

Relationships/Potential Relationships: Gina is not currently in a relationship with anyone.

D23_58_345_1200.jpg
Name: Ryker Tull
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Sexuality: straight
Position: pilot
Education: Went into training to become a pilot for the militia.
Accomplishments: He has been on ten missions as a pilot, and two of them have been noteworthy. So far, his crowning achievement was when he and his flight squadron destroyed an enemy supply hub, for which he was crucial for its success.

Appearance: Ryker is a lanky young man. His chin is sharp, along with his jaw line. He has dark blond hair, and brown eyes. He's not remarkable to look at, and someone who you would assume belongs behind a desk.

Background: He was born in Florida, near Miami. His parents, siblings, and he lived in an small house, that overlooked a pond. His mother and father were working class people, his father a truck driver, and his mother a personal secretary. Ryker had two other brother, Aiden and Jones. He was the middle child, Jones was above him and Aiden was below him. All three of them were best friends. His parents were killed when the aliens first attacked, his father was hit straight on by another truck and his mother was never hear from again. He and his brothers presumed she died in the city. The attacked happened while they were in school, Ryker and Jones were in college and Aiden was in high school. The schools weren't too far apart from each other. One of his clearest memories is when his brother contacted him and asked him to meet him by one of the dorms. When he got there, an announcement was made that the town was being evacuated. The general plan was, people were to to be loaded onto the buses and taken to a recreational facility near the middle of town. If they didn't have transport of their own, or didn't want to clog the roads. Jones told Ryker that he didn't like this plan and they were going to get Aiden and head home. When Jones texted Aiden with the plan, there was an agreement that they would meet at an old ice cream shop near the middle of the two school. Then their journey of walking the back-roads to the ice cram shop began. The three boys were pretty much close in age, Aiden was in the twelfth grade, Ryker was a sophomore, and Jones was a junior. Ryker and Jones were the first to arrive at the ice cream shop, they were able to stay hidden while walking. Plus, there were too many police officers on the back-roads that say. Aiden followed suit about ten minuets after they got there. It took him longer due to him needing to avoid school staff. Their home was about three miles away in a small cul de sac. They knew by foot that it was going to be a half an hour walk. This time, they knew that they's have to go through town to get home. They were banking on the idea that the police wouldn't be too concerned with just three people walking around. They made their way back and found their house empty. The following three days were brutal, as neither of their parents ever arrived. Their home didn't contain any firearms, so Jones and Ryker were afraid what would happen if someone were to break in. So they stayed in the basement for three days before they decided to leave. There was enough canned food and bottled water for two days, and they decided to rough it out on the third day, but they knew that this wasn't a sustainable plan. They decided to get help before it was gone.
That was the first part of Ryker's story. The second part is rather simple, but tragic. When he and his siblings left the house, they wondered into the city, where they were picked up by the national guard. They learned of their father's death after the military looked up their last names, and found a list of the diseased. Only their father was ever identified. They stayed with the national guard for the reaming time. It was soon revealed that the military as a whole was fractured and that regional militias were going to be the norm. All three of them, along with the rest of the civilians in the group, did menial tasks, such as help clean, take inventory, and simple repairs. Jones was the first to go out and fight, he joined the fighting squad and it was just Aiden and Ryker. Jones, like their mother, hasn't been heard for quite some time. His unit was attacking a target when they were cut off. They were either killed, deserted, or taken prisoner. When the two brothers got word of the news, it hurt Aiden the most. Aiden was a typical youngest child, often being the most emotional. Training for fighting was almost always required by the militia, unless they were unfit to do so. Ryker signed up to be a pilot. Like Aiden, he wasn't built for combat. There was no rhyme or reason to why he became a pilot, he could have gone into being a field medic, mechanic, and the like. It never wanted to fly like a bird, but Ryker knew one thing, it beat being a fighter. Since there was a limited number of piloting positions, you had to be pretty damn good, even if you just flew cargo planes. Ryker trained to drop bombs. He flew fighter-bombers, traditional bombers were too vulnerable and took up too many resources. And almost everyone wanted to be a flying jock, so he took a different rout. Aiden went into the medical field, again, he didn't have the capacity to fight, especially not killing. The two have been able to stay in contact, which at the very least for Ryker, has kept his moral up.

Personality: The one thing in this world that Ryker loves to do is laugh. Whether if it's at something stupid or an intelligent jab. He has a hard time making jokes himself, but enjoys a good laugh. Serious isn't something that he would describe himself as, rather, professional. He knows that on his off times, he can do what he likes to do best. During a mission or something related to the war effort, he likes to keep a distance. The loss of his brother but life into perspective, not only to cherish who you have, but not to put yourself fully into the cause. Jones died wanting to be a war hero. If Ryker were to die, he wanted to be a hero to Aiden.

Strengths: Great hand-eye coordination, 20/20 vision, ability to quickly choose a option during a difficult situation (Note* not solution, because sometimes things don't work out), and his time managing skills are second to none.

Weaknesses: His reaction time isn't the best. He often forgets to do basic personal tasks, like sleep and eat. He has a habit of thinking, "If I burn down a bridge now, I can just build it back up later"

Fatal Flaw: Trust of authority. Not in the rebellious sense, but in a "What makes you an expert, and why should I trust your judgment?" This has lead him to ignoring decisions.

How are they adapting to life aboard the ship?: He doesn't think much of it. He knows that there's a job to be done, and that they must do it. His strategy is to not think about it, and focus on the task at hand.

Relationships/Potential relationships: Not in one currently, but always open to it.

Name: Jonah Park (박요나)
Age: Twenty four
Gender: Male
Race: Korean American
Sexuality: Bisexual
Position: Medical Officer
Education: Jonah had completed his medical degree at a young age--considered a prodigy, he entered the Medical Scientist Training Program and earned his PhD in molecular genetics and cell biology at age 18, and then his MD at age 21.
Accomplishments: Hailed as a child prodigy with an IQ of 200, Jonah had been practicing as a pediatric neurologist until the first invasion. His vast medical knowledge and ability to stay calm under immense
pressure made him incredibly useful during the extraterrestrial resistance, as he was able to save countless lives.

Appearance: Jonah is considered rather thin and lanky--though he is naturally, he's become increasingly thin as time on-board the ship has progressed. His long, dark hair is typically very unruly, and is almost always pulled back into a tight up-do when he's working or trying to concentrate. His equally dark eyes hold a deep, permeating exhaustion, and, to a trained eye, a similarly deep sadness. A thin, jagged scar runs through his left eyebrow. He dresses rather plainly, yet professionally, opting for solid black or white ensembles that allow him to move freely.

Background: As aforementioned, Jonah was considered a prodigy as a child, beginning his career in the world of higher-learning at the meager age of twelve. His mother, a single, low-income Korean immigrant, encouraged his learning, thankful for various scholarships he received. As he began his schooling, he began living on his own in the dormitory, living a rather solitary life as he continued his education. Once he earned his MD and began practicing, he found that he was a bit out of his element when it came to socialization, something that left him crestfallen, as he wished more than anything to be able to help people--children especially--but found communicating with them difficult. In his second year of practice, at age 22, he became close with another doctor, a man named David who worked his way into the former prodigy's heart. As the two pursued a relationship, people began to note a difference in Jonah's
behavior, one being that he almost became a different person, offering smiles and kind words to all of those around them. And while his job was hard, sometimes soul-crushing, it was made easier with David to rely on. He easily considered the other man to be the love of his life, and everything was going wonderfully in his life. That is, of course, until the aliens began to appear.
While the two men were on the way to work on one day, the aliens decided to send in their bombs, and while Jonah awoke later with only a head injury, David was not so lucky. Having lost the one person most important to him, Jonah threw himself into his work, doing all he could to distract himself while also doing all he could to help those affected by the attacks.

Personality: In the time following David's death, Jonah has almost completely reverted back to his old self. He's very curt, a no-nonsense sort of guy who values his profession more than anything else. He is not unkind, simply truthful and dedicated. Others can find him finicky, mostly because his desire to focus on perfection is great for blocking out unwanted thoughts. However, sometimes, he is able to lose himself, and the gentle and charismatic doctor worms his way out of his cold, dead shell, which is typically a surprise for his teammates.
Strengths: Immense focus under pressure, dexterous, encyclopedic medical knowledge, retaining information
Weaknesses: Bedside manner (empathizing with others), often puts his work before all else (food, sleep, etc), and while he's incredibly good at hiding it, suffers from PTSD
Fatal Flaw: Prone to overworking himself. He cares very little about his own well-being, almost apathetic, and can sometimes find himself falling into a nihilistic hole.
How are they adapting to life aboard the ship?: The isolation on the ship is nothing new for Jonah, it reminds him of his time earning his degrees in which he was able to separated himself from others as he focused solely on his work. However, in those times when he's left to his own devices, he finds his mind wandering into dangerous territory, and because of this, sleep is hardly an option. If nothing else, he will sometimes administer himself a sleeping agent to avoid spending any time alone in his head while trying to fall asleep. Also, he sometimes can be heard lamenting over the need for a goddamn cigarette.
Relationships/Potential relationships: Jonah seems to be a very private person, and this is because he's still mourning the loss of his one great love, though no one on board knows this information.

Name: Tamara Valussi
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Race: South American
Sexuality: Straight
Position: Assistant Mechanic Engineer

Education: A full engineering degree with a sub-degree in robotics and programing.
Accomplishments: Won the estatal robot-building competition every year since middle school. Not quite traditional engineering, but nothing outstanding. Presented various approved projects for an efficiently use of the environment. Made a president candidate laugh at least once.

Appearance: Shoulder lenght brown hair, in a permanent high bun. Average height, a little overweight. Has a back problem, and tends to lend on one feet or another, instead of standing upright.
BG: Her parent's weren't too present, so she put it in herself to take care of her younger siblings. Learnt to cook and take care of herself. Moved out of the country to college just before the alien invasion. They didn't get any news from them for a long time. When they finally came, long after the attack finished, things weren't looking great. Most small cities were ruins, or near so. Tamara finished her career quickly and got as many and varied jobs as she could to sent them money. That's how she got a wide variety of contacts, too. Correspondence with her hometown isn't fast, but every letter is well-received and stored carefully.

Personality: A chatterbox. Is the queen of defusing situations, especially knowing when to stay or get out of them. Genuinely cares for other's health.
Strengths: Learns the inner working of everything she gets her hands on. Is a master of reverse-engineering. Can charisma' her way out of most things, and genuinely cares for others well-being. A selfish decision will not have it's way here.
Weaknesses: Needs glasses 24/7. Tends to bottle up things which may make her seem untrustworthy. Has a great sense of purpose and individualism: This is her work, and she'll do it right. On her own.
Fatal Flaw: May panic fast and get tunnel-vission: Namely, try frantically to fix one thing or abandon it altogether.
How are they adapting to life aboard the ship?: Appreciates the salary, but resents the isolation. She's not coping. She's making a conscious effort to not think about her family, but knows she misses them deeply. Tries her best to adapt to the ship and it's customs. Will take any distraction at hand, or chat with whoever's available.
Relationships/Potential relationships: Not on a current relationship, but one would be nice

Satanic Nightjar Satanic Nightjar That's ok? I'm still getting used to the forum, sorry)

Name: Dakota Richmond

View attachment 547953

Age: 28
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Position: Morale Officer
Education: PhD in Human Resource Management. She was an administrator for IntuiTech, a mega corporation known for its software and robotics systems.

Accomplishments: Managed thousands of employees as one of IntuiTech's youngest vice presidents. Recruited and organized the infamous Fox Scream program's crew, which was an ambitious attempt to program nanotech "termites".

Appearance:

View attachment 547952

Dakota exhibits a rather bird-like facial structure, with small cheekbones, closely centered eyes and nose. Her hair roughly sits at shoulder length; however, during the day she typically keeps it tied off at the head with lace.

When it comes to her wardrobe, she dresses sharply in formal business attire fit for a boardroom meeting, sampling two and three piece business suits with a medley of neutral colors such as grey, black and white. You will rarely ever see her with even an unbuttoned collar, let alone a v-neck shirt or shorts.

Background:

Born Feb. 2nd, 2166 to an astrophysicist and a dowager from a prominent family, Dakota was afforded a rather sheltered existence. No one who traveled in those circles realized just how lucky they were, including her. She had more than any young child could ever dream, her very future bought and paid for from the moment she left the womb.

Just so. It was also her mother who forbade Dakota to pursue menial work or anything below her status as a Richmond. "We do not concern ourselves with the happenings of those ones," Dakota's mother would say. On the other hand, her father wanted her to enter the flight academies what with all all the advances achieved in space flight. Dakota wanted neither a silver spoon lifestyle nor was she a thrill seeker bent on getting her kicks from pure adrenaline. No, what she wanted far exceeded the value of worldly pursuits. It was a search for our intended purpose in this stark universe, hinging on the idea that within each of us was an immeasurable worth, and if she could just measure some of it in others then she might not only persuade them that it's true but also motivate herself to be a better person.

For these reasons she entered Northwestern's Kellog School of Management. She finished her masters degree with honors in 2186 and went on to complete her doctorate in 2188. Several large corporations immediately began recruiting her as a full fledged associate, including IntuiTech, which won the bid. Dakota quickly climbed the corporate ladder to remarkable heights, improving overall worker performance and happiness in all areas of employees' positions. She became known as one of the best head hunters in the world, tracking top talent from China, Japan, and India and was eventually transferred to Weapons Development in Hokkaido prefecture. There she recruited and organized the infamous Fox Scream weapons development team. Progress was slow but promising - with enough time it was believed they would deliver nanotech "termites" to target their alien oppressors and eat away their sophisticated hulls.

Development came to an abrupt halt in 2193 after word that Beijing had fallen. Dakota was contacted privately by the Prime Minister of Japan to embark on the Savior, promising that "we shall all return and avenge our fellow man". Not long after, she was offered a position as Morale Officer aboard the ship.

Personality: Dakota is not one for surprises. If it's a surprise, odds are she made a mistake somewhere down the line. Her entire day revolves around prepping for the next, and regimenting a schedule for virtually everything. Wake up at 4:30, brush your teeth at 4:32, eye drops at 4:34, shower 4:35, etc, etc...

She also has this weird thing about intimacy. In the corporate world, people are more or less confined or conformed to the codes which shape the company. Letting your hair down, showing your real self, your imperfections - these are concepts she chooses to avoid out of habit.

Unfortunately this has led to an unhealthy body self image. Dakota convinced herself at some point that what she saw in the mirror was entirely out of place unless A, B, C, and D were all there. Training the smile, tucking her hair, ensuring her neck bones are just out of reach. Nakedness equals vulnerability in her playbook.

Strengths: Perfectionist, People Person, Planner.
Weaknesses: Overworked, Body Insecurity, Sleep Apnea.

Fatal Flaw:

Pride. She falls back on the sense that somehow she has the right of it, that while she makes mistakes they're easily overlooked or explained away. It's a dangerous road because she's had to be the bad guy on a number of occassions. At what point do you stop and realize what you're becoming?

How are they adapting to life aboard the ship?:

Aside from what you'd expect with isolation, Dakota experiences a lot of troubling dreams lately (not that she slept much before). Its like all she has to regret is being channeled through her mind like a video on fast play. Could it be all the cosmic rays leaking into the ship, or are past events finally catching up?

Relationships/Potential relationships:

Dakota gave up romance to lead a successful career, which demanded almost every waking hour she had available. Now she has more time on her hands and that's not the kind of territory she's familiar with... nor are the opinions of the opposite sex.

Awesome, everybody! I'm so sorry for the wait, I've been busy, but I'm back active and ready to get started if everyone is still willing.

A quick reminder of the roles is below. I should have the first IC post up today if nothing prevents me from doing so, but the Lore may have to wait a bit longer. Thank you for your patience (:

This is just a quick outline for the captain, she's not going to be a major character for long (you'll see why).

Name: Dr. Kathryn Abernathy
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Race: Caucasian
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Position: Captain
Education: Unlike many of the young and inexperienced survivors, Abernathy has graduated college, and was briefly studying to be a doctor before she realized it just wasn't what she wanted to do. She became a biologist, and a damn good one. She'd just gotten her doctorate she'd worked so hard for when the aliens came.
Accomplishments: She fought in pretty much every major battle with the aliens that's ever been fought, and certainly every one that's been won. She's paid the price for her heroics, though, and was severely injured. She now walks with a prosthetic leg.
