Backstory: Sebastian's backstory is average up until years eighteen through twenty-three. He was born as the second oldest child, and first eldest son in a family of ten. He has one older sister, and several younger siblings of varying genders. Two of them are full siblings with whom he shares both parents and the others are half-siblings with whom he shares only a mother, though he sees them all as equal family.

He was a fairly tame child for the most part, rarely ever getting into trouble, even during his teen years.
He preferred to spend his days reading or out riding. He had a strong fascination with history from a young age and spent most of his free time absorbing as much information as he could find. So much so that he's almost like a walking almanac. He could list the facts of nearly every major society in all of world history. Along with this came a love of horses and the outdoors. He could almost always be found reading out in the yard, or walking the property line.

Sebastian's high school years were not much different. In fact, they were pretty much the same until senior year. The year he met his wife, Elizabeth. A grade below him, seventeen years old, and an American exchange student, Elizabeth drew him in from the moment he met her and never let go. They were quick to fall in love and after a month, they were completely inseparable. They spent every moment they could together; going out riding, going for walks, or having picnics in the grass were among their favorite things to do. They adored each other. And on the night of his senior prom, Sebastian proposed.

Despite the protest of her parents, Elizabeth joyfully accepted. When Sebastian graduated, he decided to wait a year before attending college. He wanted to stay with Elizabeth until she finished high school and could come with him, as they had planned to apply to the same college early on. A year later, the couple moved to America to be closer to Elizabeth's family. They were married that Christmas at a small church in Elizabeth's hometown before they settled in Jackson, Wyoming. One month later, Elizabeth became pregnant.

They named their son James Anthony Law. He was the spitting image of his father, and Sebastian's pride and joy. He and his wife made sure to give him the best life they could provide while still attending school and managing jobs. It wasn't easy, but they were happy. Only, their happiness was short-lived. When James was two, Elizabeth began acting differently. She became moody and temperamental, always lashing out at Sebastian for small things. She would have panic attacks and there would be times when she'd just lose it. One minute, she'd be sitting quietly, and the next she'd be screaming and thrashing around. At times it got so bad that Sebastian had to physically restrain her to keep her from hurting herself. After three months with no sign of change, he scheduled a doctor's appointment. All it took was an MRI to reveal the source of Elizabeth's change.

She had stage five brain cancer. A tumor that was already nearly as big as a softball, and completely inoperable. The specialists and doctors that Sebastian visited in search of any kind of treatment that could save her life only served in demolishing his hope and nearly driving him bankrupt. After months of searching and coming up with the same answer, Sebastian brought his wife home from the hospital so that she could be comfortable in her home as she lived her last year. Bastian did everything he could to make her last year the best of her life, making sure their family spent as much time as possible together. He watched her health slowly deteriorate, the tumor growing and eating away at her mind until she couldn't even remember her own son, much less her identity. In her last month, her intelligence vaporized, leaving her in the mindset of a child and unable to care for herself. Once that happened, Sebastian sent James to live with his grandparents for awhile, took his leave from work for several months, and settled down in his home to stay with his wife.

During Elizabeth's final moments, as she lay in their bed and looked up at Sebastian with those beautiful blue-green eyes he loved so much, eyes so much like their son's, he could see her love for him. And though she didn't remember it, he knew her heart would never forget. When she closed her eyes and took her last breath, Sebastian finally allowed himself to cry. Sitting at her bedside for hours, he sobbed, her cold hand folded between both of his own. He cursed God and begged for her to wake up, wishing it'd been him instead. What was he going to do? How was he going to raise James without his mother? How would he move on?

Eventually, he called emergency services and they took her body for an autopsy before sending it to the funeral home. Sebastian made the preparations and went through the viewing and the funeral with a heavy heart. His only comfort was his little boy and knowing that his mother would live on in him. Months went by, James's 3rd birthday coming and going in a haze of grief and pain. But finally, Sebastian crawled out of his shell and stepped up. He graduated college with a degree in teaching, got a new job as a high school history teacher, and bought a smaller house for him and his son.
