Realistic or Modern The Different Ones (Open)

Silverfeather

Just a member having a good time. ;)
Welcome. This is in the present. It is on Earth and still has normal people. But it also has different types of people. They have many names- the hidden ones, the others, the gifted, and many others. They are mostly known as "the different."

What are they? They are shape-shifters and hybrids. No one really does know how they came here and barely any know about them. Some say they were just normal humans that got tested on while others say they were just born with it. No one knows... yet.

For years, humans were afraid of them yet never did anything about it. Then they finally decided to make a small and secret group that will track down these "different ones." The group would take them at night, quickly and silently, without anyone knowing. Until that is that one night they were going to capture a different when woke up and ran. They couldn't catch up. They knew she would tell others, revealing their secret. So the group decided that they should act as normal human beings, spy on them and capture them. They thought they should all spit apart and only have two or three people together. It worked out pretty well and it still is to this very day. The different one did tell others of her kind and now they dislike humans more than ever before.

So, what will you choose to be?

Wynter lyed in the tree his headphones on and his eyes closed. Melissa (His mom) was still at work and she said something about having to work overtime which meant if he were home he would have to be alone with his stepdad. He sighed sitting up dangling his feet over the tree looking at the people passing, luckily no one took him notice but if they did they didn't say anything. He put his Ipod in his pocket so he could climb down the tree, he wasn't planning on going home until he was sure mom would be home soon. He jumped down and started humming his song walking down a few streets away from home. "Mom said she wouldn't be home until 9:30 tonight so I guess I don't have to go home for dinner."

Ray trekked through the woods. Her music was playing, giving her a beat to walk to, keeping her positive. Hopefully there would be a hotel or pub with accommodation somewhere around the area. She had to sleep in a tree last night... it was not a fun experience. At all. Her hair was full of twigs that she attempted to pull out, one at a time. Most people wouldn't notice anyway, too busy staring at the colour of her hair. Her feet were aching in her battered pink trainers, and she was tired. There HAD to be a town nearby. But there were humans tracking her. She could feel it. Its why she had to keep moving. Sometimes she wondered what the others like her, the 'different' ones were doing. Were they concealed at home, kidnapped, or like her. Running. Forever.

After what seemed like hours of walking she finally arrived at a town. She approached a woman timidly. "Um excuse me miss. What is the name of this town?" She asked politely. The woman looked incredulously at her vibrant hair and said "Lelisti" curtly, before walking off. What was it about her hair that seemed to offend people so much? It was natural, and she couldn't be bothered to camouflage one part of her appearance that she liked. She walked along, occasionally stopping to read the signs. She was walking down a pretty empty looking street, so she uncamoflaged her wings. It had been starting to give her a headache. She continued walking down the road, feeling a bit better.

From across the road she saw a boy walking towards her with headphones in. And from the way he was looking at her, she guessed had seen the large eagle wings protruding from her back. What should she do?

Wynter kept walking when he saw a girl with colorful hair and wings sprouting out of her back. He stopped walking for a bit and took off his headphones pausing his music. He wasn't exactly scared... More like worried because she looked like she had just come out the woods a while away. "Are you lost?" He asked although he knew it was a stupid question it was better to ask. Her hair was actually really pretty 'Did she dye her hair or is it natural?' He thought taking a few steps closer although not getting too close in case she didn't like to be near people. 'Did she run away?' He thought letting his headphones dangle around his neck.

Ray looked at him blankly. Was he not weirded out by the fact she had wings? Like at all? This was the first person shed seen in what felt like a VERY long time that didn't judge her hair, let alone her wings. It was... Refreshing. He was saying something else too. Was he asking about her wings?

"Are you lost?" He asked. Oh. Ok. She smiled to herself at the question. "I sure hope I'm lost. That means they won't find me. You could say I have a talent for not being seen." It was true. The more lost she managed to get, the better. They were less likely to find her then, and meant she had to relocate less often. She knew that no matter how fast she travelled, some of them would always be a way behind her. She just had to control how far away.

She decided to voice her thoughts.
"Why aren't you weirded out by my wings?" She asked. He must be very open minded, or else...

"Well i'm not exactly human myseslf. But let's not talk about it here, do you need a place to stay? Even for just a night I don't mind." He said taking out his Ipod to check the time once more. His mom wouldn't be home for another few hours so if she wanted he could at least give her some food if she's really on the run. "Oh yeah, who exactly are you running from?" He asked not exactly sure if it was a personal question or not.

@SassyAndroidSera

Nora sat in the forest alone as usual, reading a book. It was so big and lonely but she liked it that way. She liked the quietness and how the loudest voice was the birds chirping or leaves rustling. She feel free in the forest. Free of everything that hurt her. But she still knew that nothing was not safe. Not if you were who she is. You couldn't trust anyone here. She knew that wherever she went she would not be safe. The whole world was against here because of what she was. She didn't even know where her own sister was- only that she was taken from her. She closed her book and laid it by her as she thought of her little sister again. She lie there, looking down, for a few minutes with her dark auburn hair over her face. She finally got up, grabbed her book, and went back to her apartment, her face emotionless.

Ray looked at him. She had never actually met another baking like herself. He must be a shifter, as he seemed normal. She bit her lip. A place to stay would be excellent, but she did t want to put him in danger. She dropped her voice before whispering. "I'm running from a dangerous collection of humans. They simply call themselves 'The group." Their only goal is to eradicate us 'differents.'"

Now he knew who she was running from, he would be prepared, and if they came for him, he could get away. He could decide whether or not he still wanted her in his home. She surveyed his reaction carefully.

@JayKuro

"Ah that makes sense... Well i'm not gonna go back on my offer so you can still come to my place if you want..." He said his expression not particularly changing although he did give her a small smile. "But the least I can do if you don't want to come to my house is give you a spare change of clothes." He pulled out his Ipod texting his mom.

~Wynter~

Do you mind if someone comes over for a few days mom?

~Melissa~

No they can stay as long as they want. Just make sure you tell Ugiene and that they follow the house rules

~Wynter~

Thanks mom!
:)

He looked back up at her "Well would you like to come over?"

@SassyAndroidSera

Ray smiled, and nodded. "I'd like that very much!"It had been a while since she actually had a friend, or person to talk to. She'd been living wild for so long. He was lucky... But she shouldn't assume. Things went on in people's lives, and sometimes though a person can seem OK on the outside, but be completely broken inside. Almost like her. She seemed OK, but actually she lived in trees, homeless, still mourning her parents...

She wondered what his home was like, and how he felt having his own bedroom. What were his parents like? Did they have actual food? Ok. She needed to calm down, or this would end up as a problem. She was practically skipping up the path, and would attract attention if they met people. Still she was fairly excited.

(Going to be now)

@JayKuro

(Okay)

"Alright follow me." He said retracing his steps back home. He wasn't sure why she was so excited but maybe she had been in the wild longer than he thought. They soon arrived at his place and he pulled out his keys unlocking the door. His house was pretty normal, it was pretty big and it was clean but that was mostly beause of his mom who loved to clean things when she had free time. He took off his shoes at the entryway and looked towards her "I suggest you take off your shoes, mom doesn't like shoes on the carpet." He said walking into the living room, "Dad I brought a friend over so we'll probably be in my room." He said to his dad who looked passed out on the couch, several beer bottles and cigarettes littered around him.

@SassyAndroidSera

Ray looked around the house. She curled her wings in to lay flat on her back so she didn't knock anything over, and camouflaged them. It was neat and homely, a nice place to live she was sure. Except for the snoring mess of cigarettes and alcohol on the sofa. Nasty... She slipped off her shoes, not wanting to get her filth on his clean carpet, checking that her feet were clean.

She followed him up the stairs, remembering the comforts of a modern home. It was nice, and she kind of missed it. But she would have to move on soon as she didn't want to be caught up with...

@JayKuro

When he got up the stairs and in his room he left the door open for the girl following behind him when he realized he didn't even know her name. "I forgot to ask you earlier but... What's your name?" He asked looking back at her placing his headphone and Ipod on his desk then sat down on his bed. "You can relax if you want... Or you can take a shower and get clean, I think my sister might have some clothes that are your size so you can wear those." He said looking over at her giving her a small smile.

@SassyAndroidSera

Ray smiled at him. "Technically my name is Rain- but I go by Ray instead." Her ears perked up a little at the mention of the word shower. She hadn't had a proper shower in about a week- she had been lost in the woods for a while, and hadn't found anywhere to stay except trees. "If there's a shower going, that would be awesome!" She told him. She was touched by his generosity. She also wanted to find out what he did.

@JayKuro

"Well it's nice to meet you Ray my names Wynter." He told her standing up and walking out his room to the bathroom. He did have a bathroom in his room bue he didn't think she woulld want to take a shower there. He grabbed a soft towel and washcloth from the closet and handed it to her. "You can take your time in the shower." He said meaning she didn't have to rush herself.

Ray took the towel and cloth, feeling the softness of the fabric under her fingers. She smiled at him. He probably didn't know but his gratitude meant a lot to her. Most people didn't talk to her, assuming she was a street rat, or just a plain weirdo. She thanked him again, before slipping into the bathroom and closing the door behind her.

Needless to say the shower felt heavenly on her rough and wild skin, an experience she had sorely missed. She turned to get her wings as well. She was slightly cramped, but it was ok. She stepped out of the shower, and dried off slowly. She grabbed the clothes, folding her wings underneath her hoodie. If she was going to be around people, it was best not to take the chance of her wings being bumped into. She used a hair elastic to quickly braid her damp hair.

She hung up the towel on what seemed to be a drying rack, and left the bathroom. "Thank you." She said. "Now... Will you tell me about your magic side?" She asked.

Wynter waited patiently for Ray knowing that girls like to take their time, that and she probably hadn't showered in a while. She came back in a while later fully dressed with her hair in a braid thanking him again. "My magic side? I feel like it's best to show you." He said getting off the bed. He got on the floor on his hands and knees and shifted into a small cat with blue eyes deciding it was best not to do the snow leopard in his room. His clothes fell off in a pile around him being to big to fit him anymore. He walked over to Ray and meowed rubbing her leg with his head gently.

@SassyAndroidSera

Ray was tempted to squeal and say "AWWWWWW" loudly, but decided against it. Instead, she gasped in delight and said "That's cooooool!" She said. It was. He could blend in to any public area with ease, and wouldn't be looked at twice. Unfortunately, at the same instant she realised when he shifted back... He wouldn't be wearing clothes...

@JayKuro

Wynter laughed in his head and jumped up and onto his bed getting under the covers. For a moment nothing happened but then his head came from under the covers and he wa indeed naked. It was embarrassing and his whole face was red, but he slipped his arm from under the covers and pulled up his clothes quickly changing as fast as he could. When he was done his face was beyond red but he looked over to Ray and sat up "ta daaa!" He said acting as though he were a magician.

@SassyAndroidSera

The at scurried under the covers, and Ray laughed a little. When his head popped up from under the duvet, Ray giggled, blushing. He dressed and jumped out yelling "Taa daaaa" and by that point she was laughing in hysterical giggles. She was gasping for air as she looked at him."Oh great magician, teach me your ways. Tell me... Is turning into a tomato difficult?" She giggled between gasps. He was so red...

@JayKuro

"It's not my fault that I blush easily!" He said throwing the covers off him laughing a little. "And for your information no it is not very hard." He said in a sassy tone with one hand on his hip still as red as ever. He started laughing a bit more almost as much as Ray was it was embarrassing to be that red but it was fun also.

@SassyAndroidSera

Rays giggling slowed down, bit by bit. His sassy pose was ridiculous though, and she felt that she would continue to giggle at any given moment. But then she groaned. This would-hic- be annoying. She noticed every time she hiccuped she -hic- flashed a different colour. Well. That would be unobtrusive for sure. "I have the hiccups..." She groaned audib-hic-ly, flashing blue as she did so.

@JayKuro

"Ah wow your turning so many different colors," he said watching as she turned blue. "I heard if you scare someone you can get rid of the hiccups, but I'm not sure if that actually works." He said standing up to grab his iPod and look up whether or not it did work. "It says you can drink as much water as you can holding your breath. Stay right here I'll be back!" He said putting his iPod down and running downstairs to get some water.

Genesis steps off of the bus, bags in hand and Cara in tow. She glances around, one earbud dangling and one in her ear, blasting music. Once off the bus, the driver pulls away from the stop. The town looks to be a medium size, with a forest surrounding it. A few shops, probably meant to attract tourists, are scattered around the stop. She looks behind her, into the forest, and narrows her gaze. Looking back to the shops, she goes into the nearest one. As soon as she pushes open the door, her keen nose is met with an acrid scent. She flinches back. When she recovers from the intensity of the blow, she looks around the small room, in search of the source. Her eyes land on a small section that has been set aside for food. In that small corner, she spots a rotisserie and almost gags as she pictures humans devouring the revolting chicken. Ripping off limbs and spitting out the fatty bits as if the poor animal had never even been alive once. She shivers, though not out of the wintry temperatures inside of the convenience store, and walks inside. Ugh, I will never understand those things and their carnivorous lifestyle.

Upon reaching the counter, Genesis asks the cashier about the town and where she could find a place to stay. "Oh, you must be new to the town," she says, as though it isn't quite obvious, "There's a motel just down the street. It's nice enough. Although, if you're looking for a more permanent stay, there are two different apartment complexes here. I would recommend staying in the ones near the edge of the forest on the east side, they're a heck of a lot nicer than the ones center the town. But the ones in the middle, they're cheaper and closer to stores, so there's that convenience. But as long as you don't mind the distance and the cost, I'd recommend the former." I thank the lady and head out into the bright, somewhat hot, parking lot. Well, I think I'll go for the nicer apartments. Of course, I should probably stay in the motel, because I know I could have to bolt at a moment's notice, but I'd like to think that buying an apartment would mean that I don't have to worry about "the group". At least for the time being. Genesis picks Cara up and cradles her to her chest as she walks to the other side of town, toards the nice apartments.

Gina woke up suddenly. She immediately checked her surroundings for intruders as a force of habit. After a few seconds she realized it was only her dog Seven shifting his body weight beside her. She sighed relieved and began to stand up. That night she and Seven has managed to scope an abandoned warehouse. It was the perfect place to spend the night. There was a wide open spacing for you to see everything, huge windows to see outside and up at the night sky and the best part it was at least thirty miles from civilization.

She almost didn't want to leave. Almost. She jumped up suddenly starting Seven out of whatever crazy dream dogs have.

"Time for the morning run,Seven." Without warning Gigi began to run out the building and onto the dirt road that led to God knows where. Seven followed as he always did.

It was always nice for Gina to be able to run like this out in the open. To most people it would seem like she was in a full sprint. But to her she was merely jogging, tapping in only a little to her true speed. While stopping to take walks Seven would sniff scope the area. If he found anything odd they would immediately take off again.

They were about a two miles or so from a human place when Gina stopped again. She pulled a beanie out of the backpack she carried and pulled it down over her wolf ears. She also carefully tucked her tail into the loose sweatpants she wore.

Laughing she began running again. It was time to have another adventure.
