You are a demon. Well, demon-in-training would be more apt. You don't have access to the power stores of the Underworld. What does that mean, you may ask? Well, you can't grant people their wishes and so, for now, you can't relieve humans of their souls. Don't look so distraught. All demons started out this way! As it would be foolish to hand a sword to a small child, so would it be to give young demons access to their greatest bargaining pieces. So let's start out small, shall we? A toy sword. Training wheels, if you will. You will learn the tools necessary to haggle and trade without putting at risk the Underworld's resources.

You have been assigned a human vessel. What's that? You don't know what that is? Well, it is my duty to teach you, and so I shall. We demons cannot survive the lands above the Underworld without a host, and so we must relieve humans of their souls to take their bodies as our own. Consider yourself lucky to have been granted a vessel. In my day, we started out with far less.

Ahem, anyways. The vessel's original human owner sold their soul to one of our representatives. Their soul, naturally, is property of the demon who made the exchange. Their body, however, as dictated by our customs, is property of the demon educational system. So congratulations! You have a body, and therefore, a ticket to the Overworld.

Who is your host, you ask? Well, they were a budding merchant of some sorts, along with a number of companions who shared the same trade. This makes them perfect for your assignment in the Overworld. You and your colleagues--- pardon? Well, you didn't think you were going alone, now did you? No, you are but one of several demons in training. Your colleagues will be accompanying you to the mortal realm where you will be expected to cooperate in your shared assignment.

What is your assignment? I'm glad you asked. Mercantilism is a shared practice among mortals and demons. Granted, we deal with souls while they deal with copper pieces, but the principle remains the same.

You are to take on the guise of your vessel. Don't worry. Your host has travelled across the land to a new location. No one will know you there, so no need to know the specifics of their personality and memory. Do not let yourself get too comfortable, however. The mortals would not take kindly to demons in their midst, so proceed with caution when assuming your vessel's identity.

Once you have assumed your vessel's identity, you are to live the life they would have led - one of a merchant. In your host's possession was a wagon of goods, as well as the deed to a small, empty establishment - perfect for setting up your shop. Yes, your shop! You're going to be learning how to trade, how to haggle, how to swindle. Starting out with these simple assets, you are going to amass a great amount of wealth as the mortals perceive it. Consider it a test. If you can trade material objects, then you will be granted permission to trade the immaterial valuables, as well.

You will be assigned a supervisor who will check on and document your progress. Remember! You must make a profit in the mortal realm to prove to us that you are capable of conducting business transactions. You will not be a fully fledged demon until you do.

This roleplay takes place in the world of Tillethia. It's basically your typical fantasy setting. Goblins run amok in dungeons and caves, humans wield swords and magic, etc. Your character is a demon-in-training who, in order to learn the trade of bartering, has been sent to the mortal realm to practice their skills.

The focus of the roleplay will be in the demons maintaining a shop where they can buy and sell goods, though other adventures will be prevalent in the story, as well. There will be dungeon-delving. After all, what better way to stock up on items to sell than to go exploring dungeons and hauling back the loot you find? There will be quests. The mortals always have work that needs done. It is your choice whether to assist them, gaining their copper and their approval, or to sabotage their lives in order to set up a perfect scenario to barter for their soul later.

If anyone has any questions, please, feel free to ask them! :3

I'd love to join if you're still looking for more.

D Dgjkbfx Yep, they all arrived together! I imagine that they've only really been together since the night they spent assuming their human vessels at the inn. So they don't really know each other much at all, really.
