Too Far Gone
The Dead among us

Are you ready for the zombie apocalypse?

The story thus far..

There was a virus that swept all across the nations. Millions dropped dead within the first week. Scientists didn't take it serious enough in time. By the time CDC came in, the dead began walking. People asked for answers, but none were provided. Within the second week, electricity ceased, and supplies stopped coming in. Within the third week, 75% of the worlds population was turned into the walking dead. This is the story of the other 25%, the survivors. Who will survive?

~Sage and justice POV~

Sage awoke with a start, justice had Shaken her awake. " More Brains are beginning to show up. We should start moving."justice said. As he said this he put his arms behind his head. Sage stretched out a little. She stood, and looked out the cracked glass window of the small worn down church, there were about half a dozen Brains wandering around outside. Sage studied the creatures disgusted, some had already rotted away in places, so their bones showed. She never liked to look at the brains so she turned her head away. "Can we go now?" Justice said a bit impatient. He didn't want to wait there much longer, but sage didn't always have a clear understanding that they shouldn't stay in one place too long. Justice, trying to quicken the pace, and threw his backpack over his shoulder. Sage looked at her brother, and nodded, she walked over to where her stuff lay , and tossed her own backpack over her shoulder. Justice was just about to open the door when he looked back at Sage "Dont use your gun on these ones, the ones in the woods may come out if they hear you, use your knife." Sage didn't have time to respond before Justice opened the churches door, backing up as the brains flooded in.

Philip stumbled through the dirt path of the woods, still shook-up from his recent encounter with a zombie. It nearly ended in his demise, luckily, he had a hunting knife in hand at the time. If it weren't for the large amounts of blood from the brain that had spilled on him, he would have definitely been noticed by the other zombies travelling through the forest, less than a couple meters away. The stench of it disguised him, concealed him to the noses of the reanimated corpses. His feet heavily dragged down the path, his breathing was limited to long puffs, and his eyes were so heavy due to loss of sleep over the past few days, that he knew he'd be dead without this unexpected camouflage .

As he exited the path, he noticed what looked to be a run-down church in the near distance. He studied it, looked around if anyone was nearby, and then realized the mob of brains converging on the door. It swung open and they rapidly entered, whoever was in there needed help, help he couldn't possibly provide. "Screw it." He said as he ran towards the church, hoping it wasn't too late to get them out, and hoping he wouldn't die trying.

((sorry, not good at openers aha))

Justice's face glowed with rage as he tried to fight off the many brains, his sister had fired the gun despite his warnings, so here they were shoulder to shoulder fighting off brains. It was her fault they got overrun. She was such a airhead. Justice was just beginning to give up when he saw brains falling torwards the door of the church. At first, he didn't understand, but then he realized that they weren't the only living In this church. This sparked a flame inside of Justice that caused him to keep going. Beside him Stood sage, whose eyes were beginning to swell up with tears. It was her fault there were so many. Now she obeyed her brother, stabbing at the brains IN the brains. She felt over whelmed, but she followed her brothers gaze, and saw the brains mysteriously dropping. Someone had come to their rescue.

He began to frantically slash at their heads, he really needed something blunt, a knife was just too inefficient. "Hey!....anyone in there!" He tried calling out to whoever was behind the wall of brains in front of him, still fighting off any he managed to pull his way. The scent made him almost invisibly to them, but they were somehow smart enough to discover a threat, especially one that was talking. He lunged for the back of one's head, about to send his blade deep though its rotten skull, however, he rolled his ankle, collapsing to the ground. "Ahhhhhh.. goddammit!" The pain coursed through his foot, and fear swept over his face like a wildfire. There was still three zombies fixated on him, lying helplessly on the ground. He was going to have to try and fight them off, the people on the inside of the church still had their hands full. Every attempt he made at getting to his feet resulted in a sharp pain to his ankle, and him falling back to the ground. The brains were closing in on him. He swung his blade in the surrounding air, like a madman. He was going to have to pull off miracle to get through this.

Sage, who had been watching the top of the mans head saw it disappear suddenly. "He's dead.. He helped us and now he's dead.." She thought. Suddenly she heard a mans voice scream. Sage raised an eyebrow at her brother who began stabbing at the brains more rapidly. Sage did the same. She saw her brother knock down a brain and stomp the brains head in. She nearly puked. Her and Justice had gotten closer to the front of the church. Suddenly, Justice noticed a arm reaching up from the ground. He also noticed a brain beginning to fumble torwards the arm. Sage saw too. Justice raised an eyebrow at his sister before breaking through the hoard, leaving his sister to fend for herself. Justice made his way to the man lying on the ground. Justice took out the crawling brain, and began trying to help the man.

There were only 4 brains left, but they were all reeling in on Sage. Not having any other options, Sage brought out her gun and shot all 4.

Justice noticing what his sister had done, ran to the church doors, and shut them.

The loud, disorienting shots deafened Philip momentarily. The man that had just saved his life ran inside the church, and shut the doors. This seemed odd to him, but then again, he was laying in a pile of corpses, and was not at all grossed out. He was hardened by now, killing these things was nothing but a task to him, and he preferred it this way. He wanted to glance inside the windows, to try and get a better image of the -atleast 2- people holding out in the church. "I'm friendly!" He called out, but who were they to trust them. He wouldn't if he were put in that spot. "I just wanted to help you guys... don't shoot me okay?" As he began stepping closer and closer to the doors. He just cheated death twice, so if they shot him.. he really couldn't complain.

Justice held a gun torwards the stranger. Sage who was behind him, put a hand on his shoulder "He helped us!" she said to her brother, defending the stranger. Justice held the gun down, violently swinging around to face his sister. Getting closer to her face he said " He wouldn't have had to if you would've put away the damn gun like i fucking told you to in the first place." He pulled away suddenly putting his hands on his head, and walking to the back of the church. Sage was no doubt hurt, she raised her hands to her face to cover her face as she sobbed silently.

~rain and MacKenzie's p.o.v.~

"sissy I want to go home."MacKenzie said to Rain.Rain looked at her with sadness in her eyes.Tears fell down her cheeks as she thought about home and her mother and father.all gone she thinks to herself. She looks at her sister "come here kenzie." MacKenzie crawls into her sisters lap."do you want to help me start the fire." MacKenzie looks up at her sister and nods.

"ok then" Rain shows her how to light the fire and she can see that not only did it spark a fire on the wood but in her sisters eyes as well as she knew that she wiggled her way in to makeing her sister feel something.Rain hasn't felt anything since the looters killed her father and left her mother in a room of dead knowing they would come back and eat her turning her into one of them. All rain can do now is protect her sister because she knows that her sister is keeping her stable."kenzie go to sleep sweetie we'll leave tomorrow morning"

"ok sissy."MacKenzie lays down in her lap while her sister sings her the lullaby from her favorite Disney movie Antastasia.

"I love you sissy."tears well up in Rains eyes when she hears this

"I love you too kenzie "

He began to hear chatter from inside the church, he wasn't close enough to recognize any words though, the wooden door acted as a sound barrier. He yelled, "can I come in ? I tried to help you guys, I came from the forest!" The chatter from inside stopped, he assumed there was probably a fight between the people inside, probably over him. The good news was, if it was over him, someone was in favour of letting him in. He didn't count how many shots were fired, and he didn't know if they were all armed, and he certainly didn't know what kind of gun they were using, so it was impossible to tell if walking in would lead to him getting shot. There were too many variables for him to even consider doing it. He waited outside, silently, hoping for a positive reply.

On a highway, a man was riding on a bike. He carried a backpack filled with several items, most noticeably an assault rifle. He was a bandit, and bandits were always trouble. A man, was walking opposite to him, and pulled out a shotgun. The bandit, Matt, pulled out his gun and yelled at him "Par terre!". The shotgun guy put his hands up, and dropped his pack. After rummaging through the pack and taking what he liked, he thought the bag at the guy, got back on his bike, and cycled away. He had been doing this for a long time, and it really beat him up mentally.

Sage had heard the man outside. Wiping her tears away she got up and walked to the door. She smiled at the man a bit trying to appear brave. Im Sage she said smiling, and thats my brother justice. She said gesturing at the boy with his head in his hands at the back of the church. You can come in now. She said stepping aside. Justice watched the man walk in carefully.

Philip walked inside the church cautiously, looking for any means of a trap. He then reminded himself that they just saved him, and that he should ease up. "Hi, Sage. I'm Philip." He then turned and nodded at Justice. He examined the wretched, old building and asked "how long have you been holding up in here, place looks a bit rough." This was the first time he met someone who was actually living in a long time. He felt that Justice was still unsure about him, and he respected that. however, he liked that the girl chose to open up to him, it warmed him inside, for once something seemed to be going alright, despite his near death experience just minutes before.

"We've only been here a night, we were just about to move out when she shot her damn gun." Justice said eying Sage and the stranger. Sage's face turned back solemn. Justice's words had the intended benefit on her, and the bewildered stranger. Now that Justice was feeling a bit better he raised from the ground. "Hi Philip, I'm Justice." He said with a smirk.

Rain woke up with a start. She could hear them moaning, the undead, they were close."kenzie wake up."she tried wakeing up her sister by shaking her.Her sisters eyes slowly opened."hmmm?"

"we need to leave.they are here" MacKenzie's eyes open wide as she got up and grabbed her stuff.Rain walked away from her sister and grabbed her stuff as well.

"Rain!Help me!"MacKenzie screamed.rain turned around seeing the zombies surrounding her sister."Please rain help!"Rain could see the tears in her eyes as rain chopped off the undeads' head knowing that was the only way to kill them. She could hear her sister screaming while she was wondering if it was to late.Rain cut off the last ones head then looked at her sister.Blood covered her arm where the zombie bit her."dammit."Rain knew this was going to happen when she heard the shots from the other side of the forest. They were drawn to sound and they would follow it till something else distracted them. She started crying know that nothing she did would work because there was no cure for it.

"Hey, no offense, but you're alive, and that's all that matters." He was defending the girl. "You're all each other have, just remember that Justice." Trying not to anger the boy who could have easily left him out to die. "Thanks for everything, guys, I don't know how I can really repay you. I have barely any supplies, and you seem to be good on the weapons side of things." He looked around again, "Well, you do realize they're gonna come back right? We gotta move somewhere."

Elizabeth drove on the highway in one of the cars her group used to have. She was probably the only survivor from the group after the attack and it was a mystery that she was able to stay alive after that. She noticed the car was slowing down and quickly checked how much gas she had left. She got out of the car a few minutes later after it stopped moving and kicked it "Piece of trash!" She yelled and began walking away, she stopped when she saw a man in a bike approaching and decided to hide from him until she saw one of the undead walking towards her and she ran towards him, she took out her knife and killed it hoping she had time to escape if the stranger in the bike got closer

Justice was warming up to the man. "We have a few supplies, but if we're gonna team up we could use a bit more.i agree we were just about to g- Sage was the first to hear the screams. "Justice." She said looking at her brother, and the direction of the scream. "No Sage, we can't it dangerous, and she'll be dead by the time we get there." He pleaded with his sister. "It was a little girl!" She screamed at her brother. "No, you can't go! You know how many brains are out there! Just listen to me please sage!" He yelled back. Sage looked at her brother with disbelief as she ran out of the church, and into the unforgiving woods torwards the scream.

"Justice, I came from the woods, if you thought these were a lot of brains, you've got plenty to see." He charged out of the church and headed towards where sage was heading, catching up to her and eventually passing, and looking back at her "I'll scout ahead, you deserve a break," The last thing he wanted was for the girl to run into trouble, she seemed too nice and undeserving.

Sage felt herself breathing rapidly as she ran. Suddenly she saw Philip blur past her. He yelled to her that he would about ahead. Sage was glad for the break. She heard footsteps behind her. She wielded her knife expecting a brain, but it was Justice.

"You just killed that man." Justice said worriedly. Also running ahead of sage.

"it'll be ok kenzie."Rain told her sister.Rain sings her the lullaby that their mother would sing to her as she put MacKenzie in her lap and rocked her.

Tears ran down her cheeks. She failed herself and her family she failed to keep them surviving and alive.

"I know it will Rain.you'll take care of me like you always do."Rain cried harder as she continued to sing.

Philip sprinted as hard as he could towards the scream, not knowing if the duo was even still behind him. In the woods he saw large numbers of brains headed towards two girls. He panicked, and called for them "Hey ! you two ! Over here!" It seems as though they had just given up, as they were motionless and sobbing, there was not much they could have done. He unsheathed his knife and began to take on the zombies, his ankle still a bit of a bother to him, but he had to ignore the pain at the moment, their lives depended on him reaching them in time.

Rain heard someone calling she stopped and turned around seeing all the undead around her. She lays her sister down and grabbed her axe.She saw red and killed as many as she could.

"This is for my sister and mother you assholes your not taking me too."

One of them grabbed her ankle and she almost fell. Using her other foot she smashed his face in hearing the crunch of its head under her combat boots.

She sees the last one seeing that the man who helped her was going after it.

"hey I've got this one."As she pushed it down and stomped on its head.

Justice arrived shortly after Philip. He began to fight alongside Philip against the raging hoards. When sage arrived, her focus was sat on the small girl laying on the ground. Sage rushed to her, holding her tight and stroking her red hair. "Shhh.. It's gonna be okay." Sage then noticed the large bite mark on her left arm. Sage pulled out her knife, she cut a bit of fabric off her own shirt, and shoved it into the girls mouth. She had to stop the infection. She had to save the girl. Sage began to amputate the small child's arm.
