Where the story begins...

The world of Arras is one of empires, kingdoms, magic, elves, and at the moment, chaos. Only fifteen years ago, The Agasarian Empire’s Emperor, Ziun Ateri, and his eldest son, Gureve Ateri, were murdered under mysterious circumstances. The only clear heir, Sikiro Ateri, second son of Ziun, took the throne upon his death. All fingers pointed to Sikiro, but no evidence supported these accusations, and with a heavy heart, he was crowned Emperor of Agasaria.

His reluctance to rule lasted ten years. For that decade, Agasaria’s worries were quelled, as it enjoyed a peaceful transition of rulers, a calm senate, and head-ways in diplomacy and trade. In 1342, however, an upstart nation to Agasaria’s south attempted to invade the South of Agasaria, and they were repelled and conquered. Sikiro, in a supposed effort to prevent further invasions, had his armies march across the Southern Continent. The nation was divided in its response to these repeated wars, as was the Senate. It was this division that sparked Sikiro to enact a new law, that the Emperor would supersede all other sources of power, as he had several centuries ago. This is where the conflict began, as the country began to take sides, and Sikiro began to snuff out his opposition as secretly and cleverly as possible.

In this story, you can expect adventure, warfare, diplomatic intrigue, and espionage. Your part? Well that’s up to you. You can be a wandering mercenary, a shopkeeper, a farmer, a variety of things. Poor or rich, good or evil, that’s all up to you. If you need help fitting your character in, post that and I’ll do my best to help you squeeze in. Feel free to create a position for yourself! If it doesn't quite work, I'll help you out.

A word on magic:

White and Black: Black magic is magic that comes from The Dark Prince. White magic is that which comes from God. White and black magics are on the opposite ends of a single spectrum. From white to black, they are: Healing, Light, Blessings, Arcane, Elemental, Illusions, Hexes, Plagues, Death. Because these magics come from these two sources, the closer you are to either, the more magics you can use. In other words, the better person your character, the more magics you can use on that end of the spectrum. If you’re evil, you can use more of the magic on the Black end of the spectrum. The world of Arras is not fond of black magic wielders, as they are usually as evil as expected. Once your character chooses to use white or dark magic, there is no switching. The only person in history to be able to use both has been Sikiro Ateri.

Green: Green magic comes from various spirits of nature. While elves are the most versed and proficient in this form of magic, all races and peoples can use it. Green Magic usually centers around plants, sentience, and other such engineering principles. The Church of Arras is split on how it views Green Magic.

Blue: Magic that comes from the churning of the ocean waves or the life-force of the wielder is considered blue magic. That is to say, this magic comes from the natural energies that surround the world and give life to people, or are generated from things such as the wind upon a windmill. All people can use this magic with equal profientcy, but the other forms are preferred, as they do not wear out the wielder, who usually has to resort to using their own energy. Magic that comes from this source is usually simple healing magic, telekinesis, simple elemental spells, and applying elemental attributes to weapons and enchanting objects.
