Inspired by choose-your-own-adventure-esque fantasy gamebooks, this is a world where the only way out is through. Essentially, we take turns playing our characters and setting up the world for the other, and it’s always a surprise! Behind the next door could be a ballroom, a plagued village, or a dense forest… each with its own trials! I have a whimsical horror theme in mind but I’m genre flexible. To keep the horror and high stakes, I want our characters to be able to die, but to keep our characters, I’m thinking something always brings them back.
The character idea I have in mind is a knight, but I’ve got others if you want to play in a more modern setting.
Possible formats:
Our characters adventure together, we take turns describing the next room/area/threat
Our characters adventure separate with some crossover moments, each of us describes the other’s world
Our characters adventure together, but we take longer turns to set up the worlds (one of us will stay as the “DM” essentially for a longer duration than switching post for post)
Our characters adventure together, and both of us collab on the environment, but control separate NPCs/villains
