Vexumin
Whiskered Wizard
It is another night in Uulum, nothing particularly interesting happening whether you are wandering the streets for a midnight stroll or stalking them, hiding from the sight of mortals. Whatever your case may be, this night seems rather normal. Attacks are on the high end, but other than that you do not see anything worth worrying about. As you continue on your path, you suddenly begin to hear an odd sound as a mist creeps along the cobble below. It is some manner of squelching. Definitely not a sound anything normal would make. After choosing to follow the sound, expecting to cross paths with some sort of murder scene, you soon find... nothing?
The sound has stopped and there is nothing to be seen around the corner. The curiosity dwells within your mind, but such thoughts soon turn to dread as you feel something slither around your boot or foot, however you choose to go about your day. The feeling is odd and yet may also feel familiar if you have left the walls of the city of Uulum in the past few days. The dry yet sticky and malleable texture of a slime! It does not seem keen on attacking you, simply moving past you, if not a bit close as it does so.
You decide to follow it for a short while, wondering what a slime was doing within the city. Suddenly it does something very interesting. It pries three things from its body. A hammer, a nail, and a piece of paper of sorts with text on one side. The slime raises three tentacle-like appendages and hammers the piece of paper into the wood of a nearby fence, though it does so with the paper facing the wrong way. Nonetheless, it was content with a job done, even if not well, as it slithers off elsewhere. You approach the paper and turn it over, interested in seeing what a slime would post up in a city.
Down on your luck? Consider the CURSE-BREAKERS UNION!
The words scream out from the page, them being the first thing you see. Whatever the paper has upon it, you cannot help but realize that it appears to have been made by a child, or at least someone not so good at writing... or drawing. You look further into the paper, trying to discern just what it says, and slowly you begin to adapt to the poorly written text.
The Curse-breakers Union is seeking clients that have been cursed and looking for a way to break said curses! We are also seeking workers willing to adventure (if needed) to discover the source of curses and assist in breaking them. Workers do not have to be mortal either! The Curse-breakers Union is all-inclusive. Desired talents are adventuring, combat, magic (please, we really need magic) and anything useful for breaking curses. The Curse-breakers Union can be found beyond city walls at the once abandoned Hawgrimm Household. We look forward to breaking your curses or offering jobs to poor souls!
For the sake of curiosity, you make plans to visit the old Hawgrimm house soon. It could be fun! A good change of pace from the normal drudgery of city life. After a day or two and having finally chosen to follow through with the plans, you ultimately regret it, or maybe enjoy it even more, as you approach the crooked gate of the household. The large mansion of a house seemed like an abode that you could pull from one of the horror stories you were told as a child. You'd expect to see a ghost or ghoul lingering in one of the windows as you scanned them all.
Things are quiet, so you believe there to be no such hauntings. Sensing no threat, you advance forward. Reaching the door, a single touch sends it swinging slowly open. The main entrance hall is dark. Very dark. At the end of the hall, you can just barely make out a face, one whose eyes and mouth glow with an eerie light. The mouth of the face smiles wide, when suddenly the clang of armor resounds through the door and the face approaches. What soon catches you by surprise more than the glowing face, was that the face touched the light far before the body of the figure, the head held in its hand as it stomped forward, fully armored in the plate of a knight. It was a dullahan! A headless knight that carried their head beside them. These creatures are terrifying, something you were once told to avoid at all costs! Though when you get a closer looks, something was off.
The body of the dullahan, visible between the gaps in its armor around the joints and stomach, are oddly transparent, as for the head that it held. Suddenly a wave of realization hits you. This is no dullahan, it is a slime! A queen slime, to be exact. It would explain how she could fit within the whole suit of armor. She raises her head high above her and takes a deep breath in, if she really even needed it in the first place. "Welcome to the Curse-breakers Union! Can I interest you in a broken curse, or perhaps a job?"

Welcome to the Curse-breakers Union interest thread. This was more of a means of throwing out an idea. It would be nice to have interest, but I wanted to start by brainstorming first and see what comes of it and this was the result! I had fun writing the intro, and for me that is what matters most, but I would definitely love to continue with it with a cool cast of characters.
The idea of the story is that the Union encounters odd situations and curses that they seek to help break for the sake of the person afflicted. Curses in this world are by far the most effective means of making another's life incredibly difficult, and it is the Unions duty to see these curses broken. Whether the workers of the Union were (or are) cursed or knew someone cursed could be the inspiration for them seeking to help others. There will be many opportunities to expand the Union and spread interest to the neighboring cities, but that is up to how hard the Union plans to work for it!
There are no plans for an incredibly large group for this rp. Just enough to fill a standard adventuring party would likely be more than enough!
I look forward to seeing if the story continues in the Curse-breakers Union!
