Welcome to Court of Blades!
In the next few posts, you will experience a political drama filled with moral dilemmas, choices with far reaching consequences, and a dramatic plot for dominance in the continent you step on. Your actions as a group contrasts with your personal interests as you battle not only for the independence of multiple nations in a state of total war, but also for a seat of power in the prestigious Court of Blades.
Empress Carolingian III was the queen of the goblin nation of Uberkrieg, and was the empress of the Greenskin Empire, a realm dominated by the demi-human races of goblins, orcs, and ogres. Once, the empress and her compatriots, the legendary Court of Blades - a political and military cabal of her most trusted companions from every nation of the empire and beyond the coasts - led the empire to a long and prosperous reign. She advocated for the advancement of education, industry and technology that saw the rise of her nations to unprecedented heights.
When illness struck her down, the nations of the empire mourned. Her cities filled with her adoring countrymen, and the streets soaked with the tears of those she left behind. Thousands accompanied her to her final resting place. With her death, the Court of Blades dissolved, for they have no more empress to swear fealty to.
Her son, King Benove, the first of his name, took the throne after his mother’s death. Although a fine statesman on his own right, his dedication to economic challenges and selective attention to matters of state offended the different counts of the empire: others claim that he is neglecting matters of international security for personal prosperity, while some say that the would be emperor was corrupting the state funds for frivolous pleasures. The counts instead, favor the younger brother: King Holeb II of Heinrich, for his military might and tactical genius.
The counts convinced the uncertain king, to put his skills of warfare to claim the throne for himself. He marched with the armies of the southern provinces towards the heart of the empire, trampling the once great farms of the provinces that surround Uberkrieg, and taking the resources of the surrounding settlements to further his war efforts. His army, though inferior, managed to defeat the tactically superior forces of King Benove through unconventional strategies and exploiting their weaknesses; King Holeb forced his brother to abandon the capital and garrison the northern provinces all the way into the icy peaks of Fangrich Mountains - the border between the goblin nations and the nordic orcs - where for two years, they have fought an bloody unceasing conflict. The empire found itself in perpetual defense against the militaristic secessionists, with Benove's lackluster military stratagems but well funded military force clashing with Holleb's pitifully equipped armada but sound judgments of warfare.
The counts of the northern provinces soon grew weary of the conflict that torn the empire asunder. They raided the royal libraries, interrogated historians, and questioned the imperial servant caste for information of Empress Carolingian's bloodline: For anyone to take up Empress Carloingian III's mantle and unite the empire.
In the northern reaches, far beyond the borders of the goblin kingdom, within the holds of the orc jarls, a young goblin woman hears the call of her nation. Gathering an army of her own, and putting together a council of her most trusted companions, her army marches, crossing the border, and fights to purge the evil from her home, and claim for herself her true birthright.
