The Central College

Dear Student,

Congratulations. You have been formally invited to stay at the Central College. As you may not know, through one way or another you have been exiled from your own universe and as a result the Alpha Sphere, a powerful artefact at the centre of our world, has brought you here. You do not have to stay here, you do not have to study here, but I personally recommend you to come here to learn about the new world and customs you have been dropped into.

There is no set uniform, no set timetable - you do not even have to study if you wish. This place is simply here to give you a place to live until you feel comfortable enough to make your own path. We at the Central College, however, do hope to see you arrive here with this invitation in hand.

Sincerely,
The Head Master, Mr Segata.

~~~~~
This RP is based on one simple idea - a multifandom based in a college. Characters have arrived in this world, an Earth-like world named Beta, because they have left their own reality one way or another. As a result, a astronomically magical artefact known as the Alpha Sphere has brought them to Beta. The Central College is a school/apartment complex that houses a variety of 'students' from various universes (or fandoms) and is run by the powerful Segata Sanshiro.
It has already been a few days since everyone enrolled and as a result no one really knows each other...yet. If you wish to join, simply announce your presence in the OOC and make a CS.
The day was lovely. The grass was a healthy, vibrant shade of luscious blue, the trees stood tall and mighty, yet thin and delicate, in the calming breeze and various small rodent creatures dug around in the various rocky pillars dotting the landscape. The three suns beat down at the ground, yet the temperature was fair - for the thick green sky shielded the planet from excess heat while still allowing one to look up into the skies above. The large, almost metallic moon was also visible today - not a rarity on Beta, but wondrous still.
In the centre of a fairly standard plateau, a good few fifty metres or so from sea level and about a mile or two across, stands several proud and intricate stone buildings, each decorated with various carvings or sculptures. At the north to these buildings is the main building, nicknamed the Lobby (as that is where the assembly halls, receptions and various management offices are, as well as basic classrooms. It seems to be more for the staff than the students, however, as the majority of classes are held in different buildings), where the headmaster sat. The Head was a fairly quiet man, not really involving himself with classes or student affairs, but instead focuses on the more...managerial side of things. He spends a lot of time working out how to improve the efficiency of various parts of the campus, and tends to involve himself with the planet's governmental matters. That didn't mean he wasn't friendly to the students, of course, he just...keeps out of their way and leave their business to themselves. After all, who would want to talk to the middle aged head master?
Today was no exception - Segata had effectively locked himself in his study again and wasn't receiving visitors. Any requests were either shunted to his secretary, or his vice head (depending on the situation).
At the same moment, however, one of the prodigy students had just finished work on his plane. He had requested an airstrip and a small hangar to be built (about half a mile away) from the head teacher, who eventually accepted (provided the airstrip was for public use), and had taxied the plane back into the hangar. He then decided it would be decent time for a spot of lunch, as it was midday (difficult to tell with three suns, but you manage eventually), so had come back to the school for something to eat. It was a long walk, however, so he decided to sit down on one of the various campus benches for a few minutes.
The Vice Principal, John Wick, had finished circling the facility's perimeter for the fourth time, still convinced the rodents outside were plotting something. Still, he supposed that continuing his work on an empty stomach would make for a less than optimal security performance. Sighing though his nose, Mr Wick reluctantly departed from the perimeter of the rolling plain and made his way over to the school's main building.
Still no word from Principal Segata, John thought as he trekked. Sometimes with the amount of time spent in that study, John often wondered if Segata was still alive in there at times. Oh well, John had the situation in hand well enough, and he could sympathize with the man's desire of privacy.
With that thought in mind, John slipped into the canteen.
Tsubomi Kido
location: cafeteria
Even as the days passed, Tsubomi Kido found herself struggling to acclimate to the distinctive world of Beta, with its wide green skies and lush blue grass defying the rules that she was so accustomed to on Earth— taking constant reminders to engrave the fact that she was no longer in the universe she once inhabited.
The androgynous girl simply went with the flow of things to avoid getting left behind, and before she knew it, she found herself sitting down at one of the more vacant tables in the cafeteria, with a bowl of fish, meat, and vegetables served over rice, akin to the donburi dish she sometimes ate back at home. Although stereotypical, Kido would much prefer a meal of rice over bread. She merely enjoyed the taste more, and liked the various combinations that could be served with rice, with a greater variety compared to what bread could offer. She recalled that there were several menu items she was at least vaguely familiar of based on their descriptions, so perhaps the place wasn't entirely foreign, after all.
Regardless of the weather and the three suns outside (in which she was still dumbfounded by), her attire more or less remained the same, with her various layers consisting of the usual red jersey jacket and pale purple hoodie she always sported. Frankly, the season didn't matter; even if it was the dead heat of summer, it didn't stop her from wearing excessive layers. Although unnecessary, Kido was unable to shake off the habit of rolling up one of her pant legs, even if her affiliation with a gang was just trivial at this point.
Her gaze darted from one end of the cafeteria to the other, quietly observing some of the events transpiring within the large space with her hood pulled up, though not to the point where it obstructed her view. Music blasted into her ears through the earbuds she typically had on, with her iPod 'safely' pocketed away in her hoodie. She melted into the lightly swaying sea of sound, blocking out most, if not all other noise, as if watching a movie devoid of dialogue with her own selection of background music. Kido noticed a plethora of other students walking in, out, and about, as well as some older, authoritative figures, including whom she perceived to be a vice principal of sorts, or something of the like.
With such an impressive diversity of individuals within the vicinity, Kido couldn't help but to wonder whether she would truly fit in with everybody else. She recalled a few brief exchanges of words here and there, though nothing memorable enough for friendships to have blossomed, it seemed— Kido cursed her more introverted tendencies, and her awkwardness that made it difficult to articulate words at times. She was reminiscent of her childhood days of speaking in a way deemed 'weird' by her peers, though Kido knew it wouldn't happen again in her teenage life. A subtle desire tugged at her, to perhaps make a friend or two in the absence of the Blindfold Gang she cherished so much. At the same time, however, all she really wanted was a happy ending for her friends back in her own universe, desperately wishing for it to be so.
Snapping out of her muses and back into reality, she eventually stared down at the rice that awaited her. Kido picked up her chopsticks, and figured that she would have to start eating, in fear that her lunch would get cold.
Wick, more accustomed to the mulled wine and duck confit back home, reluctantly forsook his refined taste in favor of a bowl of rice and a side of fish that more or less resembled salmon. Five star chef or no, John still had to eat.
Gesturing his thanks to the cook, John picked a vacant table and placed his meal atop its surface. Meager as it was, not a single table manner was omitted by John, who kept his elbows precisely an inch and a half away from the table's edge, all the while eating with his newly forged knife and fork. His hunger overpowered his modesty, however, and the dish didn't last long. Dabbing his mouth with his Kevlar resin handkerchief, Mr Wick departed from the table and went to continue his duties.
Before he could reach the perimeter, John's roaming eyes caught sight of a young man sat alone much like he had been himself, with what looked like nostalgia playing across their features. While he knew his job description didn't quite involve moral support, Wick decided that he couldn't just ignore the mental strain that students he'd been tasked with defending were going through. He made his way over.
"Excuse me, young sir-"
John paused, upon closer inspection, the gender of the student he spoke to suddenly became less clear. "I mean..." He sighed. "Are you alright? You look troubled over something."
Tsubomi Kido
location: cafeteria | with: Caffeine Freak Caffeine Freak
As Kido bit into her food, she was delighted that the meal was relatively similar to the ones she usually prepared at home, and although her face didn't quite betray such emotion, she couldn't help but to fantasize about all the other rice dishes she could eat throughout her time at the Central College. If there was a culinary course available, she would take it in a heartbeat— even better if she could gain the opportunity to help out in the cafeteria, though these thoughts were just fleeting distractions from her previous worries.
Eventually, she had finished up with her lunch, wiping her mouth with a disposable paper napkin. Kido was prepared for an afternoon of simply wandering about the premises until she figured out what exactly she wanted to do, but not until she survived a particular encounter, it seemed. Kido noticed the dark-suited man with an air of sophistication approaching her figure— she identified him as one of the authoritative individuals she caught a glimpse of just earlier, when her eyes had been dawdling.
Once she confirmed that the man was in fact advancing towards her, Kido's face paled, only panicking internally from her immediate conclusion that she was in trouble somehow, even if she hadn't perpetrated any crimes of the sort. She plucked the earbuds from her ears, pausing for a second to adjust to the natural sounds around her, rather than the music that typically deluged her. The teenager braced herself for the worst, but contrary to how she truly felt, all she could initially muster was her signature, yet unintentional "glare-like gaze" that she was almost oblivious to.
She was used to frequently being mistaken for a boy, but no matter how normal it had become for her, Kido couldn't help but to be amused by his greeting alone, with the corners of her mouth twitching into a small smile while her gaze gradually softened on its own. Once he had finished with his question, she instantly relaxed, practically relieved that her first interpretation of his presence was wrong. Kido was quite surprised by his observation, as she hadn't expected for anybody to notice, nor did she realize that she was so easy to read.
Kido wasn't the type to express how she felt so easily, in fear of troubling others with her problems. She felt a bit pensive as she hesitated on what to say to satisfy the fancy man's inquiry, but at the same time without revealing too much. "Ah, well... I'm just fretting about my friends back home," she calmly responded, lacking some of the higher-pitched femininity that most other girls her age had, but even so, her tone of voice sounded just a bit more feminine for him to deduce that maybe she was a girl.
After another brief pause, she added, "It's taking a while to adapt to Beta, though I suppose that's normal when it has only been a few days. I'm sure I'll be fine once I get some fresh air outside, though I do appreciate your asking and concern, Sir."
"Yeah, well, I guess we're all getting used to our new life here." John suppressed a grimace for the student's sake. Used to the clear divisions in etiquette between males and females back at the Syndicate, John unwittingly found himself at a loss at doubtlessly deducing the student's gender, though he did manage to pick up on the slightly more feminine traits that were demonstrated. For someone who could recognize a gun from its spent bullet, Wick's senses had met their match. He managed to bring himself back to the conversation at hand. "Fresh air, sounds good. I wish you well." John briefly bowed his head before sauntering off back toward his post.
John had been on Beta perhaps the longest, bar Principal Segata, though it only just started to sink while he milled about the canteen: the extent of just how many vastly different people had ended up on this rock. A young, Asian androgyne was just one of many. John spied a young man with a shouldered baseball bat arguing with long-canined girl, then a burly young one toting chainmail with two swords strapped to his back. The scene was like something out of a Where's Wally page. John's calmness during the initial calamity that brought everyone here seemed to have put aside his grasp of the situation, a fact he didn't realise until that particular moment.
A "Huh." And a shrug was the extent of his realisation.
Link wandered the campus, wondering what he could do while he was here. Walking along the path, he thought back to the point when he first arrived on Oberon. He ended up landing in a large body of water, so he had put on his zora armor and continued to swim in the same direction until he found land. From there, he ran on few about half an hour until he was picked by someone in a strange moving metal box. It was much faster than Epona could ever run. Soon enough they reached the school, where everything was explained to him. He still didn't understand the different currency than his rupees. That didn't mean that he was going to give up his rupees of course. The sound of rustling drew his attention away from his thoughts. Could it be? Looking down, Link was met with tall grass. He smiled devishly and pulled the Master Sword from his back. It couldn't hurt to check if their currency was hidden in grass too sometimes. Link began slashing at the grass, unaware of the figure sitting on a bench not too far away.
John, ears pricking up from sound of a swishing blade, investigated the source of the noise. His shoulders relaxed a bit as he found that it was just a student, but whatever they were doing remained a mystery to him. "You... alright there?" Mr Wick wasn't a fan of traipsing through tall grass himself, but never before had he considered taking his anger out on it.
As Tails rested, he became occupied fiddling with some contraption of some sort. The contraption could only be described as a yellow metal orb, seemingly with no moving parts or folds, that was very intricately made. Before long he forgot about lunch (as was usual with Tails) and he had taken up the entire bench for his personal use as a makeshift workshop, using the various tools on his straps to work with. Before long, however, his ears twitched and pricked up as he heard someone trying to cut grass with a sword, or something. He got up, curious, and walks over. "What are you doing?" he asks, as his twin tails flex and move with his movements as to not get in the way.
After a while of cutting grass, a taller man with black hair and a moustache walked up to Link. Immediately, he stopped what he was doing and sheathed his sword. He gave a confused look as he was asked if he was okay. "Yeah." Why wouldn't he be? All he was doing was cutting grass. Was that not normal around here? He then turned back to the grass, tempted by the fact that it wasn't all cut short. He would've continued his slashing, but another guy had approached him. This one was much different, however, as he had two orange tails and a pairs of fox ears on head. He didn't know if they were capable of normal speech, so he pulled out the Shadow Crystal from within one of his pockets. However, the fox human did know the common language and asked him what he was doing. "Cutting Grass." He shrugged and pocketed the Shadow Crystal. "Is there something wrong with that?" He asked both of them curiously, unaware of the code of conduct in their worlds.
Tails looked at the strange stone that the green boy pulled out - it looked odd and...there definitely was something up with it. It almost looked like something Shadow would own. He even recoils a bit, as it somewhat reminded him of the Sceptre that Mephiles was sealed in. Still, it was clear that they weren't the same object, so Tails relaxed soon enough. "Well, yeah." Tails says after a second or two, "It's strange. You don't normally go around slicing away at grass with a sword. Why are you doing it?" He found it odd how nonchalantly the boy was speaking about it, too - as if it was normal. Hey, maybe it was normal back where he came from - still, surely there were more efficient ways of doing it than with a sword? Like, a lawnmower, some trimmers...pretty much anything else.
Link nodded. "Huh, I did all the time in Hyrule." He noticed the fox guy's reaction to the Shadow Crystal but said nothing, at least not yet. Next he was asked why he was cutting the grass. "Usually there's a couple of rupees in the grass, but who knows what I'll find here." He looked back at the grass, the temptation growing immense. He had to focus though. Link looked back at the two in front of him. "Besides, no one else waa going to go out and cut the grass in Hyrule. They were too scared of the monsters roaming around everywhere. I can fight them, so it's fine for me." He smiled and put his hands on his hips. He knew well that they were so many other ways to fight the monsters than just his sword. "Anyway..." Feeling that he answered the question regarding his grass cutting, he went back to a different subject, pulling the Shadow Crystal again. "Why did seem so repulsed by this Shadow Crystal?"
Tails, somewhat satisfied by the... odd answer, starts looking at the Crystal once again except this time he appears to be studying it, analysing it with his curious blue eyes, as if he was trying to work out what it was. As if he had forgotten that he was asked a question, he looks back up at Link with a apologetic smile. "Erm...", he says after some recollection, "it looks similar to something from my world - the Sceptre of Darkness. It was an artefact that held an incredibly malicious being, Mephiles, that was the negativity of a god, or something. It took some power to defeat, Shadow says - he's my...ally, by the way." He says, not really sure if he considered Shadow his friend or not, hence the hesitation.
"Huh, didn't expect that." Link looked down at the red and and black crystal he held in his hand. Who knew that other worlds had evil, godlike beings. "I got this due to someone called Zant, the false ruler of the Twilight Realm of my world. The true ruler of that realm killed him, so now I use it for my own needs." He grasped onto the large crystal with both hands and, looking at the fox boy with a smile, stabbed it into his chest. It didn't no damage to his tunic, and passed through like a ghost. Link form was quickly consumed by black light, and it morphed as he fell low to the ground. When the darkness dispersed. What was left in front of them was a large wolf. Link walked in a circle and sat down, his chain clinking loudly. He looked up at them with his tail wagging slightly.
Tails raised an eyebrow at the self stabbing, but otherwise seemed fairly unimpressed. After all, this wasn't the first time he saw a transformation like that - heck, he could do it himself with the right gemstones. "Cool. So, your world has transformations too. My world does too - basically everyone I know can do it. Hey, my best friend transformed into a wolf creature too when the world fell apart and we had to pull it back together." Tails says, with a bland tone in his voice. If there was one thing that didn't really faze him, it was magical crystals changing someone's form - it was boring to him at this point. Still, that wasn't to say that he wasn't curious about the shape change. "So, what can you do in that form? Can you stop time like our transformations allow us? Bend reality? Fire bolts of deadly energy? Invulnerability?"
Link barked, then remember he couldn't speak in wolf form. He stood up on all four legs and the diamond shape on his forehead glowed as the Shadow Crystal removed itself, allowing Link to transform back into hylian form. "Can't speak as a wolf, sorry." He scratched the back of his neck before continuing. "Well, I can still fight with ease. Then there's knowing where things that are hidden can be dug up, seeing scents, running faster, and some more. Basically, what normal wolves do, but more enhanced." He suddenly became aware of how bored the fox guy was getting. "So what was it like in your world, before you were sent here."
(Goodnight)
"Back home, we use machines to cut grass, but not to find things, just to... well, keep it tidy." John scratched the back of his neck. "Or, where I came from, I met an assassin who owned a lawnmower that could shoot its blades at people." A wistful look appeared in his eye. "That was one messy work day."
Tails, nodding at Link as he explains, looks back at Mr Wick as he talks about his own past. A lawnmower that fired blades? Sounded like something Eggman would create. Still, he was 'taken care of', as Shadow put it, so he didn't need to worry about him any longer. After listening to what Wick had to say, he looks back at Link. "My world? Well...it's a very long story, but in essence...my world has something called the Chaos Force, which manifests itself in several forms - the most common being the Chaos Emeralds. Using the Chaos Emeralds, we were able to create infinite energy through Power Rings so my world was fairly high tech and...well, good. I mean, there's been a few incidents involving gods, aliens, universe destroying tyrants...evil scientists, but my friends and I usually pulled through sometimes with the help of the Chaos Emeralds to allow us to reach our higher forms. If you want to know more, tell me because I know everything there is to know about my universe." That would probably seem odd, as how can one teenager know 'everything there needs to be known' about the universe?
Spice Spice Caffeine Freak Caffeine Freak
Link stood listening to the man with the moustache, completely confused. "Lawnmower? What is that?" He tried to picture in his made what that could be. He knew that mowing meant cutting down, but what was a lawn? "I do know how to keep it tidy though, see?" He gestured to the grass he cut behind him, which was even and cut low to the ground. Then the fox guy started talking about his own world, which Link listened to in awe. "Your world sounds very advanced. I'm mine we've got the Triforce, our goddess Hylia, and the four Light Spirits of the regions. The Triforce is our greatest power, and it's divided into three pieces: Power, Wisdom, and Courage." Link held up the back of his left hand. There looked to be nothing special about. "I've got the Triforce of Courage within me, while our ruling princess has Wisdom, and Gannondorf has Power. Gannondorf is known of the King of Darkness, but I managed to kill him before before he could control the world as his own." Link dropped his arm and swung both of them back and forth. "I'd be happy to learn more about your world. I'm Link by the way. What are your names?" He asked both of them.
The Fabulous Emerald The Fabulous Emerald Caffeine Freak Caffeine Freak
"John Wick. Head of Security." Wick was rather surprised the boy thought their words were advanced when his sounded quite a bit more complex. Unless 'Triforce' was a name for an assassin syndicate, in which case, they'd be on the same page. He settled down on the edge of a nearby bench. "The Lord of Darkness from where I come from is a man named Mr President, who passes laws saying that people can't use guns. Makes business quite a bit harder."
Tails listens with curiosity. It was odd, talking about other gods from other worlds. While he knew that his 'gods', like Solaris or Chaos, was just amalgamations, or perhaps manifestations, of the Chaos Force it seemed strange to him that in other worlds science was dictated by gods and fiction was more prominent than fact. He wish he could see all of these worlds, but he knew better - even if he could, his very presence could upset the ways of life, or perhaps even break the laws of physics. Tails thanked his lucky stars that this world seemed stable enough to resist the effects of dimension travelling and seemed fairly resilient in terms of new, outside, forces and laws coming into the realm but he wasn't sure that Link's world would be able to handle the introduction of Chaos Force by him travelling to it. So, for now, he found himself satisfied with where he was. After all, there was free food, workshops and plenty of odd people to interact with. Speaking of which...
"My friends nickname me Tails. I think it's fairly obvious why." As he says that he...moves his tails. He doesn't swish them like normal tails, but almost...rotates them. As if they were a propeller on a plane or sails on a windmill. Something that, even with Link's basic understanding of science, would understand to be fairly impossible in terms of biology. After all, wouldn't the muscles and veins get tied up? "And I'd be happy to tell you about my world - and I'd be interested in hearing about yours?"
Spice Spice Caffeine Freak Caffeine Freak (sorry! on my screen, the post was sent but apparently it didn't)
Link was still confused with basically everything the moustache man, now know as John Wick, the head of security, was talking about from his world. "Guns?" Is that an animal? A weapon? Maybe even a material or some sort? Oh well it didn't really matter at the moment. Then he started speaking of his own King of Darkness. "Oh! Can yours control people like puppets, too? Or even Be reincarnated after death only hundreds of years later?" Link was genuinely curious if their worlds were actually that similar. He would definitely hope to see what his world was like. Next, the fox guy introduced himself as Tails, an obviously choice as a nickname for him. "Oh yeah, with the two tails." He didn't really understand why or how the tails moved as they did though. They looked real, but didn't move that way. It's probably from something from his world. "Oh yeah sure, I'll tell you whatever I know." It was pretty great meeting his first friends at the school place in this new world.
Caffeine Freak Caffeine Freak The Fabulous Emerald The Fabulous Emerald (I did that once and missed so much that I had to redo my post. It's all good.)
Tails nods, clearly satisfied with Link's answer as his blue eyes shine with a quiet excitement. "Oh, cool. Shall we do this over lunch? I'm starved after working on my plane." He says, forgetting that Link probably has never heard of a plane - oh well, if he's curious he can explain it to him. Tails loved explaining stuff to people - it was one of his downsides, really - he tended to talk too much.
Spice Spice Caffeine Freak Caffeine Freak
Link smiled. "I don't know what that is, but why not?" Was lunch some sort of place you go to? He really needed to learn a lot of these new terms. They would really help him out. Especially "plane". There could be something hidden within that word. All of the words actually. Luckily for him, he knew what starve means. "If you're close to dying of hunger, why don't we find something to eat instead. That will be much better for you." He smiled again, happy to be of some help to Tails. "Oh, wait! I might have some soup left from when I visited the mountains. Do you want some of that?" He opened one of the pouches and waited for Tails to answer.
