Bio:
Dawn grew up with her father, mother, older brother, older sister, and younger sister. She had an average childhood in Manhattan. As she got older she had several relationships but could never find someone who wanted to commit. Now her mother is pushing her to find someone to marry. Her younger sister got married at 20 and already has a child, which is something her mother constantly brings up. She couldn't stand living with her parents anymore so she got a job as a waitress at The Blue Sailboat Lounge and rented an apartment a block away. She's been working at The Blue Sailboat for about a year now. She likes her job but wants to do more with herself.
Relationships:
Vincent Rivera- When Dawn first came to The Blue Sailboat they had to work close together but it took her a while to get Vincent to warm up to her. Now the two are quite close and trust each other.
Margot Dupont- Dawn greatly admires Margot for her boldness and passion for her career. The two bonded over their parents disapproval and have since become good friends.
Pierre Guerrer- Dawn had a small fling with Pierre while worked at the bar. They both got along and it seemed to get along well until Pierre ended it with no real explanation. The two are still friendly though.

Though the Lounge doesn't belong to him, he still believes that the actual bar does, and because of it, he's very protective over it. Through the years of working at the Blue Sailboat, he's learned to just stay silent and give open ears to the patrons who come in complaining about their lives and families and work, keeping his thoughts and opinions to himself- this was easy for him. Vincent was always a silent man; not shy or timid, just quiet. Though seeming reserved and broody and authoritive, once this bartender goes home, he's entered a world of drinking. The man has a bad drinking, smoking, and gambling addiction, and usually drinks to the point he blacks out and forgets what happened through that whole time he was intoxicated. Because of these dark "secrets" of his, he pushes away those who try to get close. His words often come out laced with toxicity, even if he doesn't mean any of it, he says them just to keep people away, to keep them locked out of his little world of his. He only starts to warm up to those who care enough, but won't begin to actually start opening up until they're much closer. For example, Dawn, he trusts her and knows that she means well and has a heart of gold- but never has he brought her to his home to reveal all of the empty alcohol bottles that he's yet to clean up and throw away.[/div] [div class="textbox txt"]

[div class=h3]dawn holley[/div] Vince is very aware of Dawn's goals and dreams, and admires her dedication to aim for them. Though it took a while for the two to actually warm up to one another, Vincent cherishes her as a dear friend, almost like a sister, to whom he'll support all the way.

[div class=h3]charles rivera[/div] Charles Rivera is Vincent's father who he's never been too close with. After Abigail left, a rift came between the father and son, but it didn't bother the bartender much at all. The two don't hate or love each other, and rarely keep in contact.

[div class=h3]abigail clark[/div] Vincent's mother- left when Vince was stiill young, hasn't been in contact. Vincent holds little to no opinion towards his mother, and believes he's better off just pretending like he never had one because it felt like it anyway.

[/div] [/div] [/div] [div class="page3 txt"] [div class="h1 h1txt"]history[/div] [div class=txtouter] [div class="textbox txt" style="margin-top: 0px;"]Vincent didn't think he'd grow up thinking he'd be a full time bartender at the infamous Blue Sailoat Lounge. His father had plans for him, wanting his only child, only son, to be in the Army just like he'd been many years prior so he could "honor the country". Vincent's father, Charles, had always been hard on his son ever since Abigail left when Vince had just turned twelve. He wanted the best for his son, but never gave him the space he needed in the upcoming teen years, which resulted in the boy acting out all of the pent up emotions through verbal and physical fights, and soon taking up drinking and smoking.

Because of the stress on his shoulders, Vincent then started to stand up to his father, resulting in ugly breakouts and eventually, cut contact between the two. Vincent ran away from home in Chicago at age nineteen, picking up small jobs to earn fast money. His addiction to drinking encouraged him to mix new drinks, to try more things, and that's when he realized he could just score a job as a bartender- he just had to control his drinking problem. So, at age 21, about six and a half years ago to where he is today almost 28, Vincent was hired at the Lounge, serving locals, breaking up fights, being the victim to terrible and good jokes, and becoming the "mysterious bartender at the Blue Sailboat".[/div] [/div] [/div] [div class="page4 txt"] [div class="h1 h1txt"]gallery[/div] [div class=txtouter]

: Born in a village outside of paris to humble origins, his father being a baker and his mother worked in a local bar. After the war he and his elder a brother, a former soldier and french resistance member moved to the united states for a better life away from war torn Europe. The made it to manhattan though found the Amaricen dream not quite as easy as they hoped. His brother did his best to support the pair working odd jobs and encouraged him to do the same. However Pierre found it difficult to find a job, jumping from one thing after another. Eventually he got a job as a assistant bartender at the sailboat lounge. He would often sing as he worked along with records once played in the bar instead of live music. He seemed popular with the patrons and so management moved him to become a singer. Over the last couple of years he had recieved several offers to go professional but has refused them. No one really knows why.

personality:
Margot is outgoing and friendly, making conversation with anyone. She would often get in trouble at school for talking when she wasn't supposed to. She can be foul mouthed, shocking, and sarcastic. She cares deeply about her friends and family and would do anything for the people she cares about. Overall, she is kind. However, she can be stubborn and a little insensitive, especially when it comes to her comedy.

likes:
flirting, stories, comedy, clothes, travel

dislikes:
boredom, tradition, her parent's expectations

history:
Margot was born into a wealthy family who lives in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Her father is a lawyer and her mother is a housewife. Her older brother, Calvin, is married and has two little boys. Her older sister, Mary, is married as well and has a set of twins, a boy and a girl. Margot still lives with her parents, who do not approve of her lifestyle and career, but they think she will grow out of it. She was always rambunctious as a child, getting into trouble.

Margot has always been a comedian. At parties, she was the one who was always telling stories to the guests and making them laugh. She has many comedy albums in her collection and frequents the village to go to comedy shows. She has not gotten quite a big enough following to book shows at the clubs she visits. It's been difficult as a woman trying to be a comedian. It is hard enough to make it as a man in comedy, but she is constantly getting turned down because people don't think women can be funny. However, Margot doesn't fit into what is expected of a woman. She adores her niece and nephew, but she is more focused on her career than having kids, she doesn't really care if she gets married, and she is most definitely not reserved and polite.

Name
Julian Aberdeen

Gender
Male

Age
Twenty-Six

Role
The Musician

Appearance
C49SlPEUEAABgpL.jpg:large

Julian has reddish blonde hair and light brown eyes. He dresses formally even when he really doesn't need to, but still manages for his clothing to look rumpled or disturbed in some way. He has a gangly, almost boney, build.

Height
5' 8"

Weight
141 lbs.

Likes
Social situations
Gossip, the power of knowledge
Attention, drama

Dislikes
People lying to themselves
Dishonesty in general
Inaction, indecisiveness
Vulnerability in himself and others

Personality
It wouldn't be inaccurate to say that some people find Julian's personality unpleasant. He has an odd sense of humor that's often at the expense of others, and he's fond of making people own up to the parts of themselves that they're ignoring. He doesn't necessarily have malicious intent, but it's just the way he interacts with the world. Julian is extremely socially-driven, enjoying both positive and negative interactions with others. He's overconfident, proud, and charismatic, not afraid to talk himself up to get what he wants or to get his few real friends what they want. (Note: even though he does have a certain amount of charm, he often overestimates just how much. He really and truly believes he can win anyone over if he plays his cards right, and that's just... not always how it works out.)

Extras
Julian is bisexual.

Bio
Julian was locally born and raised, the only child of emotionally distant parents. His father (who worked at a bank and quite probably cheated on his mother in hindsight) was hardly ever home even when he was younger, but even so, Julian was desperate to make him proud. When that proved to be near-impossible, Julian started seeking validation elsewhere. His mother tried to be there for him as much as she could, made difficult by her chronic depression. She got ill and died when Julian was seventeen, despite attempts to treat her. A part of him wonders if she wanted to die, even though she had never shown signs of getting that bad before.

From a young age, a lot of Julian's comfort and entertainment came from playing piano. Taught by his mother since he first took interest at age six, it gave him an opportunity to forget about the problems within his family and his own emotional distance and loneliness. As he got older and more skilled, it unfortunately became part of his attempts to get his father's attention, despite the fact that his father hadn't taken interest in his playing even when he was young. That motivation never quite left completely, even after he chose to find validation elsewhere, and playing for an audience no longer sparks the same joy in him as playing alone. Similarly, there are songs he has written that his is reluctant to play for others due to his emotional connection to them. The songs he wrote that he does play for audiences are usually a bit more academic in nature, allowing him some emotional distance but still showing off his skills.

Nichelle "Elle" Gavier
Sex: Female
Age: 22
Role: Double Act #1

577310
Height:
5"6
Likes:
Attention, Singing, and Flirting
Dislikes:
Being Judged, Bad Hair Days, and Tapioca Pudding
Personality:
A natural flirt who thrives off of attention, no matter who it's coming from. She's ambitious and fierce when it comes to achieving her dreams of stardom to the point that it distracts from other things like common courtesy and respect for others. Feels most alive in the center of a stage than anywhere else. Protective of those she cares about, but can get distracted by her own selfishness.
BIO:
Small town girl with big dreams and a best friend of similar mindset. She's been singing for as long as she can remember and has never wanted to do anything else. Her parents' disapproval of the unrealistic quality of this goal only fueled her to work harder to prove them wrong. When she graduated from high school she knew there was a limit on her looks and charm and she needed to capitalize on it while she still had the chance. Elle "convinced" her best friend Sully to join her in pursuit of this dream. The two of them worked amazing well together even if Nichelle had a nasty habit of stepping on toes and improvising on stage. It was a long few years of shitty gigs and lack of appreciation before they finally landed a job at the lounge.
Extras:
Bisexual

Relationships:
Sullivan "Sully" Walsh-- best friends since they were teenagers and musical partners, she has the strongest bond with him than anyone else in her life.
Margot Dupont-- she and Elle got off on the wrong foot during the first time Elle saw her perform and they've never been very friendly since. Elle doesn't consider her "talent" to be worth much, especially not as much as her own.

Name: Gertrude Ann Sutton
Gender: Female
Age: Twenty-three
Role: The Woman Trying to Find Her Talent

Appearance: She has a triangular-shaped face, complete with hazel eyes and full lips. When wearing make-up, she typically doesn't wear a lot, though it depends on the occasion. Her hair is a very light brown and lustrous, reaching to her shoulders.
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 134 lbs

Likes: Shopping, taking long walks around Manhattan, performing, admiring art, big coats, jewelry, flowers, animals, and cold weather.
Dislikes: Rude people, untidiness, and caramel.
Personality: A young woman who is faced with finding her true talent and passion. She knows she likes performing, but has yet to see what she is best at. Gertrude has overcome a lot in her past, but has thankfully learned from what she went through. While she remains kind and affable, she is also careful with who she befriends. She is becoming more confident of herself, and always tries her best.

Biography: Gertrude was born in Albany, the capital city of New York. Her biological parents felt another couple could provide for her more, so they found a loving couple to care for her when she was only four-years-old. Hilda and Mark Sutton, Gertrude's new parents, lived in a cute three bedroom house in Albany. They were so thankful to have Gertrude in their lives, and wanted to do all they could for their new daughter. Gertrude spent a lot of time with Hilda, a woman who designed luxury gowns at a boutique in Albany. Mark was always traveling for work, but always made sure to be home as much as he could, especially on holidays. As Gertrude grew up, she enjoyed strolling the streets of Albany with her mother and friends, and took ballet classes. When her father was home, they arranged several vacations.

In school, Gertrude always had a lot of friends. Being with friends was often more important than studying. She eventually graduated though, but was unsure of what she wanted to do afterwards. During this time, she met a young man who was into the party scene. She was attracted to him, but he treated her poorly and introduced her to awful people. Gertrude was strong enough to leave him, however, and started to focus more on herself. While a part of her wants to go to college, with the help of her parents, the other part of her wants to be a performer. Potentially being able to inspire people through performing fascinates her, so she moved to Midtown Manhattan to pursue this. Her parents agreed to support her as much as they could, and helped her get an apartment in Midtown Manhattan. After some searching, Gertrude found a job at the local library and has just started going to the Blue Sailboat Lounge to perform. While she may still be trying to find her talent, she is realizing what it means to be brave and not let anything hold her back.

Relationships:

Nichelle and Gertrude - The two start off on good terms, though as Gertrude discovers her talent, Nichelle becomes a bit hostile. Will these two be able to see past their differences and be able to encourage one another?

Name: Sullivan ‘Sully’ Walsh
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Role: Double Act #2

Appearance: Sully’s size is undercut by his perpetual slouch and generally tousled appearance. His hair is always slightly messy and his face is locked in an expression of deep concentration.
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 194

Likes: Thelonious Monk, The Beats, car rides, cats, swimming, folk music, Chinese food

Dislikes: Large crowds, attention, dancing, gin, snow, slow walkers, taking the subway

Personality:

Virtues: hardworking, level headed, innovative, resourceful, adaptable

Vices: unambitious, single-minded, withdrawn, distrustful, self-defeating

Sully’s a nice enough guy. Most people find him a little awkward and he always seems like he’s looking for an emergency exit but he can be kinda funny once he’s comfortable around people. He’s an intense person beneath his calm exterior and when he cares about something he can kind of lose track of the rest of the world. He’s ferociously dedicated to his music but his perfectionist streak means nothing’s ever good enough and he tends to be his own worst critic. Since he’s socially inept he can occasionally rub people the wrong way just by not realizing he’s said something rude or inappropriate.

Bio:
Sully was the middle child of a big working class family. With four brothers and two sisters it was easy to get lost in the shuffle and Sully was at a disadvantage since he barely talked as a child. As far as his family could tell he understood them fine and all the local doctor could offer was a shrug. As he got older he slowly talked more and more but he had a stutter that invoked a fair amount of bullying. It's gotten better with age but it's worst when he's stressed or nervous and Sully isn’t one to talk your ear off.

Even if he wasn't much for words he found a voice in music. When he was still most nonverbal, one of the few times he would speak was to demand someone tall enough to reach the radio switch it on for him. His mother was an talented musician who encouraged him at every turn.
Which was lucky since despite his large build Sully didn't have the disposition for sports his brothers did. He enjoyed being active but lacked any competitive spirit for it. So as his brothers excelled he found himself left behind more and more. So he filled his time with music.

As soon as he could hold a guitar he was playing and once he was older he would perform at weddings, funerals, and other small events with his sisters. At the start of middle school he picked up the saxophone as part of his school band. He loved the saxophone but the music bored him to tears. His own unguided experimentation just left him feeling more frustrated, like something was caught in his throat.

Then one Christmas he got a gift from his eldest brother who was visiting from college. It was a Charlie Parker album and by New Years Sully had every song memorized. From that day forward Sully had a purpose. He spent hours locked in his room learning to play by ear. As the weather got warmer and siblings and neighbors began to complain he would strap his case to his bike and go miles out into the country to play. Bewildered farmers would find him camped out at the edge of their property with sheet music, running lines over and over until they turned from squawking into music.

It took years of practice and days of pouring over every record he could find but by the time he finished high school he was starting to think he was pretty good. Having Elle helped but when she first brought up going to New York he just laughed. He didn't have any business playing in a real city. But with enough prodding and promises he eventually gave in. It hasn’t always been easy since they got here but now that they’ve landed a gig at the lounge Sully is letting himself be cautiously optimistic.

Extra:
-He's close with his mother and calls her on a regular basis.
-He has a cat named Ozymandias or Ozzy for short. He rescued him shortly after coming to New York when he found him living in the alley behind his apartment. He frequently talks to him when he's home alone and he'll practice new pieces for him, going as far as abandoning works he thinks Ozzy has a negative reaction to.
-He swims almost every morning.

Relationships:
Nichelle “Elle” Gavier- they’ve been best friends and musical partners for years, she’s one of the few people Sully feels comfortable around. Though he lacks her ambition and love of the stage he does love performing with her.

Name: Connor James McKinley
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Role: Owner of the Blue Sailboat Lounge

Appearance (Please include picture and description):
577990
Connor is all sharp edges and hard angles exaggerated by neatly cut hair and trimmed beard alongside his usual attire of a wrinkle free suit and tie.
Height: 5'5
Weight: 167lb

Likes: Connor loves nothing more than to see the Blue Sailboat running smoothly.
Dislikes: Claustrophobic. Loud and unexpected noises.
Personality: Though small in stature, the presence of this man can be felt from across the room. He does not suffer fools lightly, and there are rumors of him nearly breaking a past bartender's back after it was discovered that said bartender was taking a few bottles home to "sample". Though he may appear calloused, everything he does is for the good of the Lounge.

Bio (1-2 paragraphs):
Connor's story doesn't begin in Manhattan, where he was born born. It begins in 1941, aged 22, when the U.S. joined the second world war. Connor was one of the first to volunteer as a bomber crewman. And thanks to his size, he was placed in the ball turret. And so, practically in the fetal position and no parachute (due to it being to big to fit with him into the ball turret), Connor flew several missions in Japan. There was no way to describe the terror he felt as flak exploded around them and F-0 fighters dived past his bomber, dubbed the Lucky Leprechaun, as he cleared jams and reloaded the twin brownings. And once the Japanese surrendered, he was shipped off to Europe where the dreaded Atlantic Wall had claimed hundreds of bombers and thousands of lives.

His bomber was no exception, and the Leprechaun fell. Due to complications, Connor's ball turret could not position itself so he could get out. He frantically waved any help away, and reportedly hit the ground firing. This, however, was not the end for Connor, who miraculously survived the crash, though with quite a few bones broken. Luckily for him, the Wehrmacht, the German army at the time, did not find him first. Instead, a french farmer, who had doggedly refused to leave his home, found him and quickly hauled the unconscious Connor to his farm.

When Connor came to, he was wrapped tightly from head to toe and laid on a bed. Needless to say, Connor panicked slightly at the situation. However, the farmer's daughter, who he later learned was named Violette Lemoine, came to calm him. Knowing his manners, he calmed right down and let her tend to him. He didn't like it one bit, being doted on like he was some prized pet, and for the rest of the family he would insist on doing things himself. But when it came to Violette, growl as he might, she would do as she pleased. Perhaps he was to stupid to realize it himself, but he was in love with Violette.

That all ended with the closure of the war, however. He needed to return home, to prove to everyone that he was not, in fact, dead. And Violette could not leave France, her father, though more than happy to see his daughter with a fine young man, simply could not afford to send her off to America. And so Connor left, alone and with an aching heart.

He was a local legend when he finally arrived home, the man that came back from the dead. But he was empty inside, without a purpose. He aimlessly sat around the house or wandered the town. It was on one of these wanders that he saw the 'For Sale' sign in what would soon to become the Blue Sailboat Lounge. Several years he spent simply fixing the place up, but now it's open. At long last, his life has purpose again, to put the Blue Sailboat Lounge on the map.

Extra: Violette had told him that she loved boats, how they glided so gracefully across the water. And he had also learned that she also loved the color Blue.

[div class=cl]

Gender: Female
Age: 31
Role: Patron
Birthdate: April 28, 1926

Appearance:
She has long, dark brown hair that falls down straight with a slight curve. She has unassuming brown eyes that are slightly upturned with a small mole beside her left eye and barely tanned skin. Her mouth is always curved in a faint but amiable smile and she often looks like she is reminiscing about some distant, fond memory. (She's not.) Her style is sort of... housewife meets business and she often sports a tan trench coat in colder weather.

womens-hairstyles-long-hair-28050.jpg

[div class=di]Sort of like this but with a mole beside her left eye and slightly straighter hair.[/div]
Height: 172 cm (5'7")
Weight: 148 lbs

Likes: Listening to people's troubles and giving advice, pondering over life's mysteries and the universe, gossip and tall tales, interesting stories, knowing things, coffee with at least three sugars (no milk), old fashioned sweets and sugar.
Dislikes: People who scream at bugs, typewriters (from an incident where some hair may have been ripped out), people who act without thinking, being alone in the dark in a tiny room, barrel diving over a waterfall (because of a certain time she got pushed off before she was ready by certain reckless people), glass chandeliers (again, from a certain incident caused by certain reckless people), people who push the blame onto others or mope about things without doing anything about it and chihuahuas.

Personality: Calm and thoughtful on the surface. She likes to think it through before doing most things and assumes from a logical point of view. Which does not always work to her advantage because people are not always logical. She isn't too blunt, though she does believe honesty (most of the time) is the best policy. She does avoid or brush over things she doesn't want to say though, and if she needs, she can tell little white lies. She has a slight tendency to push things off until later. She can have fun with a crowd but finds peacefully settling down with a good book just as good.

Bio: Mauve grew up with loving but reckless parents that pushed her to do everything she could within the smallest timeframe possible. Most of the time, it was her that brought her parents back from going too far and that inadvertently caused her cautious and careful attitude towards life. She didn't have many friends growing up but her friends were always close and lasted for a long time. Quality over quantity, I suppose. She was the "calm" one in her group of friends and got used to listening to other's troubles and getting them through it. Mauve didn't really know what she wanted in life and ended up drifting around until she gave up and settled in her current job in accounting. She used to live in the suburban fringes of a big city but moved to Manhattan to get a change of scenery and pace.

Extras: She doesn't actually drink much alcohol when she's in the Blue Sailboat Lounge. Most of the time, she's drinking water or some alternative because she can't keep her liquor like she used to. She's very good at chainlink puzzles and sudoku. Mauve often sits with her legs crossed while staring at some distant point (because she's zoned out). She has been to nine countries and would've been to more if her parents could force her. She can play the accordion.
