Where Fountains Rise
Tortuga_by_glazyrin_zps69967e73.jpg

The sun was beginning to set over the town of St. Georgia Port, bathing the buildings and ships in a soft glow ranging from pink to gold. A young female was spotted walking down by the dorks heading towards the mainland while her ship, a beautiful Argosy sat patiently waiting for her return gently rocking with the tide. She placed her hands in her pockets before coming to a stop and glanced over her shoulder admiring the repainting of it's new name "The Blood Diamond". A small smirk began to spread across her pink lips "You be patient, we won't be going anywhere without a crew that can tame you". A few of the passers by gave her an odd glance as she talked to her ship. Turning on her heels she headed in the direction of the place she had chosen to rest for the night...

She marched up to the tavern "The Clam & Crab" where she had already booked her room but unfortunately her job was not yet over. Pre arranged with the innkeeper a desk had been placed in the far corner of the room to which she slipped behind rather snugly as she was brought a pint of beer. This was her first night of signing up new crew members. Luckily for her, The Blood Diamond was an old European traders ship which was built to be handled by a small crew so she didn't need too many members. "Thanks!" She said rather enthusiastically as the innkeeper brought over an ink pot, quill and a scroll for people to sign up. He had told her that morning it was best to wait for night to fall when the the tavern became crowded and restless. Now she just had to wait for new members to approach her, she drummed her fingers along the table's edge in a rather excited manner with a big grin and a sparkly glimmer in her eyes.

As Matthew sat at the bar enjoying his pint of beer he noticed a familiar sight come through the door, which he wasn't sure how she didn't notice him, and with a smirk he stood from the bar and noticed her going to sit at a desk in a far corner of the tavern. Once she took her seat he began walking over to her with a smile on his face, leaning forward with his hands on the desk once he got there.

"So i hear my little sister is in need of a crew, and i figured i would wait here until you came to join along with you"

Nina gasped as Matthew came walking over, it had been years since she had last laid eyes upon him, to suddenly see him now was a huge shock. Upon hearing that he had discovered her looking for a crew she went a little crimson. She had gone searching everywhere for a crew but the only people she had managed to gather up was a few other members who had little to no skill. The real talent in this way of life were among the people of St. Georgia and it was her last chance of getting the crew she longed for. "Fine!" She said rather harshly crossing her arms and looking in the other direction, it wasn't that she didn't like her brother, it was more the fact him being the eldest might lead him to try and steal her position of Captain. "You can sit next to my 1st Mate!" She pointed over to Nathaniel who was sitting in a corner.

"Just as feisty as ever i see", He replied with a small smirk. "Very well Captain, but just to make this official...", He paused as he grabbed the quill from the ink pot and lightly tapped it on the side so to prevent a mess and quickly began to write his name on the scroll and placed the quill back inside the ink pot once he finished. "There, now it's official. Happy to be aboard sis." He said with a two fingered salute as he walked over to where she pointed, but only a few feet away as he then leaned against a wall with his arms crossed and head bowed slightly, waiting for others to join them.

"Hmm....you'd think there'd be more people wanting to join.", he muttered to himself as he emptied his glass. Shifting his weight, his chair creaked as his eyes wondered lazily around the crowded bar. "Hmm......no........mhmm.....no.....definitely not.", he murmured as his gaze jumped from one person to the next, looking for potential candidates. He sighed as he sat back, picking up his glass for another sip but stopped short realizing that he had already empited it. He stood up, looking obviously bored. "Cap'n, I'm sure you have everything you need. I'll be heading out for a little while. Don't wait up.", he said with a joking smirk as he casually walked up to one of the barmaid.

"Hello there...", he started with a charming smile.

Nina nodded though it was quickly replaced with a roll of her eyes as Nathaniel went to go chat up one of the barmaids, it was clear he wasn't going to be back until the morning. Looking around the room it appeared St. Georgia was apparently not going to be the hotspot she thought it would be. The only person to have joined up was her brother which was rather unsettling. Placing her boots up on the desk she leaned back rather cozily in her chair and tipped her hat over her heading preparing to take a nap. It was clear it was going to be a while before anyone with the skills she was looking for going to approach her in order to join.

Shamus hit the wooden dock with a thump. "Oh yeah?! Well..." Shamus was lost for a moment as he thought up an insult, "Well, that's not what yer mother said!" The crew of the ship he'd been on only moment before shouted jeers at him as the ship immediately left port. Shamus made equally offensive gestures back at them. After a few minutes of back-and-forth obscenities, the ship faded into the horizon. Or maybe Shamus was just too drunk to tell where they went. "Ah well," he said to himself, "Best get some drink. Haven't had it since last week." This, of course, was a lie, as he'd just finished drinking the last few bottles of rum on the ship he'd just been kicked off of. Shamus stumbled his way around, nearly falling into the water several times, before he found his way to a bar. "The Crabby Clam," he read to himself with a confused look. "Funny name, but whiskey is whiskey is whiskey." He found his way in.

The first thing Shamus noticed was the lack of alcohol in his hand. The second, a small group of people speaking something about a ship and crew. Despite every fiber of his being screaming for more inebriated bliss, Shamus staggered his way toward the latter. He began shouting before within arm's reach of the people. "Ahoy there," Shamus called out as two men left, leaving just the girl. "Aye, you there, lassie. You say yer lookin' fer a crew? Well!" Shamus proudly prodded his chest with his thumb, "Ye just happened to find yerself the best, ah whatsyacallit, let's say me. Yea, me. The best me in the whole country!" Shamus finally made his way over to the table the woman was sitting at. "Now where do I sign up?"

Nina opened an eye and found herself staring at the inside of her hat, lifting it up to look at the pirate she quickly wrinkled up her nose, the man literally stank of alcohol. She placed her boots upon the floor with a not so bemused expression, she leaned forward inspecting the drunk. It was a hard task indeed, the smell was unbearable and that was saying something considering she was sitting in a tavern surrounded by a load of other stinky sweaty drunks. Eventually she couldn't take it a moment longer and placed her feet back upon her desk and dropped her hat over her head with the intention of going back to sleep. "I'm good, don't need you stinking out my ship thanks"

"Don't need my help!?" Shamus shouted. "Yer telling me you don't need someone to make the booms go? Ya know, the canons, muskets, all that good stuff?! I just told ye I'm the best black powder worker this side of Shanghai! And you tell me you don't need my help," Shamus guffawed before staring blankly ahead in a faint moment of clarity.

"Alright, so maybe I'm a wee bit drunk. Us Scotsmen don't work proper unless slightly intoxicated. 'Sides, it doesn't look like you have many others signed up fer yer little crew." Before she could turn him down again, Shamus' drunken mind decided it would be a good time to plea, "Aye, Cap'n, I promise to stay off the bot'l while aboard. Just give me a nice hammock and some supplies and you'll have the finest weapons in the seas. Just please take me aboard." He folded his hands together and attempted his best sad puppy-dog face (which, in this state, probably wasn't all that good or attractive).

Without even lifting the hat off her head in order to see she raised an arm and pointed in a rather random direction "Shanghai is that way". She buried a hand deep in her pocket and pulled out a little bag of gold and threw it on the desk "I suggest you go buy some soap on route, don't want you scaring away the Chinese".

A grin broke across Shamus' face as he bent down to sign his name. "Thank ye, Cap'n. Ye won't regret it!" Even drunken, Shamus was still dexterous enough to swiftly sign his name on the ledger. Taking the Captain's advice, that of buying soap, Shamus grabbed the tiny bag on the table. Thanking her again for her generosity, Shamus made his was out of the bar and back into the light of day.

"Now where do I find soap?" He asked himself before wandering off in the direction his new captain had pointed him. He wouldn't go too far, he thought to himself. "Don't want to get left behind after all."

She peered under her hat noticing the drunken pirate signing his name before walking out of the tavern, she quickly bolted upright her hat falling to the floor. "Stop! No! Wait that ain't what I mean't!" She shouted but it was too late, the tavern door had closed behind the drunk. She slumped back in to her seat groaning "Oh bloody 'ell..."

After seeing the display to his left Matthew decided to chime in with a laugh, "Well this should be fun. I think you should take your advice as well and make sure we have enough soap on the ship for that fella, don't need the rest of the crew to abandon ship after all."

Elizabeth looked around nervously. There weren't many people walking around this late in the evening and she had no idea where she was headed. 'Maybe I should've just stayed on the ship.', she thought, clutching her bag tighter against her stomach. Her mind wondered if she would find her way to the tavern or be found dead the next day. "How could they just leave me on the ship with those brutes. Stupid Nate and Nina,", she muttered under her breath. She noticed a shadow behind her but decided not to look back. Her movement became subtly brisk as she headed towards the only apparent establishment which was still lighted up. She felt a presence following her and her heart started beating faster and faster. She squeaked slightly as her brisk walk turned into something of a jog. The footsteps behind her increased its speed as well. 'Bad idea...bad idea..bad idea....', she told herself as she ran towards the tavern door, pushing it open with all her might.

The door opened halfway before it was stopped by something. She heard a loud crunching sound followed by thud and a familiar groan. She pulled the door back, catching her breath as she did so. "Nate ?", she called in a mixture of relief and shock at Nathaniel, who was sprawled on the floor clutching his jaw. "Liz ?! What are you doin here?", he asked in recoil.

Tyrone just docked his half destroyed blood stained ship known as the Dead Pool near the town of St Georgia port away from any other ships nad the port its self. He began to look around his ship "This old thing an't going anywhere." He said thinking aloud before he headed below deck to where his ship stored the ammunition. When he got there he opened the top of a gunpowder barrel with his sword, picked it up and began to pour the gunpowder out until he reached a safe point where he could get off his ship easily. He then put the barrel down and lit the gunpowder by making a spark with his sword he then jumped off the ship and ran to a safe distance as the explosion went off he made it to the town its self.

Upon entering the town he began to look for a tavern and in the end he found one called "The Clam & Crab". He opened the taverns doors and stopped for a moment to look around. A few ruff looking people shot a glare at him but it didn't bother him since his Afro most likely drew the attention either that or the dried blood on his clothing. He headed to the taverns counter and started to eavesdrop on people conversation to see if he could find a crew he could join. The tavern keeper began to approach him "So what ya be hav'in?" The tavern keeper asked. "Lemonade" Tyrone replied as he pulled out a pouch of gold and put it in front of him. After a few moments of waiting the tavern keeper returned with the lemonade "Ya be need'in anything else?" The tavern keeper asked. "You know anyone looking for members for a crew?" Tyrone asked. The tavern keeper pointed towards a women towards the back of the tavern "That lass is" The Tavern keeper said. Tyrone nodded his head "Thanks keep the change" he said as he drank his lemonade, left it on the counter and headed towards the women at the back.

"I hear you're looking for a crew any chance you need anyone else" Tyrone said as he approached the women.

Nina awake once again to find herself staring at the inside of her hat... again. Pulling it off her head wondering what kind of idiot

she was going to have to deal with next was quickly taken aback by Tyrone's appearance. Wow amazing hair Nina thought to herself, suddenly realizing she had been staring she settled back in her chair and quickly crossed her arms tightly blowing her blonde fringe out the way. "Ok fine, what can you do?" She asked rather curiously.

Tyrone swiped his hand though his hair. "I can do a bit of everything, cook, wash and scrub the deck if need be but what I do best I sword fight." Tyrone said tapping his red sword sheath. Tyrone began to look at her now that he was closer is she really a captain he thought to himself giving her a strange look. He pointed towards a chair nearby. "Can I sit" he asked.

Nina peered up at him mildly interested, there was no need for a cook. Elizabeth the ship's cook was already well up to the job and she already had Landon cleaning though her interest peeked as Tyrone announced his skill was with swords. When he asked to take a seat she gestured towards the chair to indicate that he had permission however at that moment a young male ripped the front door open to the tavern and stared at Nina terrified "CAPTAIN! THEY ARE TAKING THE SHIP!".

Nina bolted to her feet and jogged around the desk while the rest of the room went silent "Landon what is going on?!". It looked like he needed to catch his breath "Elizabeth left.... She went to find Nathaniel! It was just me... they got on deck! They found me.... They sent me to tell you the ship is theirs now! You don't stand a chance!". He was completely shaking from head to toe whether it was fear of the ship's fate, the pirates taking it or Nina herself was unknown. "There was nothing I could do I swear!"

Nina had no idea where Nathaniel could of gotten to, Shamus was another whose whereabouts were unknown "Tyrone! Matthew! If you two really want to join this crew I need your help right now!". She turned quick on her heels heading for the door when Landon quickly grabbed her by the shoulders "NO Captain!! Are you insane?! There is about ten guys on that ship and there is only three of you, you don't-" the rest of the sentence went unheard as Landon quickly found himself on the floor clutching his nose in agony with Nina standing over him a fist raised "That is my fucking ship and we are taking it back, do you fucking hear me boy ?!". Tears quickly mingled with the blood that was dripping heavily from his nose "Yes ma'am...".

"Good! Landon! Tyrone! Matthew! Come!"

"I'm sorry....", Elizabeth said as she pressed a wet towel against Nathaniel's nose. Nathaniel winced a little at the pain. "So, why the rush?", he asked, his voice sounded off due to the wet towel pressed against his nose. Elizabeth wrinkled her nose, her attention was still on the job at hand. "I thought someone was chasing after me. It was dark and I couldn't see who it was......So I ran.....and you were there, and I didn't think...", she said, her voice getting higher in pitch with each sentance, forcing Nathaniel to interrupt her.

"Hey look, its okay. It doesn't even hurt that much.", he said, trying to cheer her up. She looked up towards him and smiled. "I mean, you did scare the pretty bartender girl off....", he jested to hide his disappointment but to his surprise Elizabeth responded by increasing the pressure she was placing on the towel, sending waves of shooting pain up his bleeding nose. "Agh...", he grunted as his head recoiled backwards. "Hey !! That hurts...", he glared at her, clutching his nose. "Sorry..", she said unconvincingly. He sighed as he repositioned himself in front of her. "It was Landon by the way. The one who was running behind you. He just went in.", he said, gesturing the tavern door.

Shortly after Landon had entered, they heard a commotion within the tavern to which the two exchanged puzzled looks. Nathaniel stood up and just as Elizabeth had stood up as well; Nina, Landon and two men he didn't recognize came out of the tavern. "Hey Cap'n, what's going on ?", Nathaniel asked.

Nina bolted out of the Tavern to only end up stopping to stare at Nathaniel just outside the door holding Elizabeth with the latter pushing a towel in to the other's face. She quickly grasped Nathaniel around the wrist with her claw like fingers to drag him along with her, hoping that the others were close behind. "There is pirates stealing the ship and you think you have time to play around with her?!". Releasing him from her grasp she darted as quickly as she could down to the docks.

Tyrone just stood there for a few moments scratching his head.'Wait the ships being stolen and i'm just standing' He thought to himself. He decided he would try and follow Nina since he didn't even know which ship it is. So he picked up his sword and bolted after Nina hearing a few words of her conversation with the two others. 'Must be other crew mates' he thought to himself as he continued to to follow Nina and the other person to the docks with his sheathed sword in hand.

Arriving within the shadow of The Blood Diamond it appeared that the pirates hadn't yet sailed off, this came to Nina as a surprise, most pirates would only attempt to steal a ship if they planned on leaving the port. Not to mention they had left the gangplank down allowing them easy access onboard. She tip toed on board grasping the handle of her cutlass, unsheathing it and holding it at the read. These pirates either had laid a trap for them or they were completely inexperienced. The deck of the ship appeared deserted.

Nathaniel pulled away from Nina, pulling up his hood over his head. "Shh...", he gestured with a finger across his lips to Elizabeth. She nodded in response, staying off the ship as the rest moved onboard. "Ship's awfully quiet, Cap'n. This is curious indeed. They had sent Landon, so this is obviously a challenge or.....or a dare of sort. But why hide now? We know they're here and they know we're comin'. This doesn't make much sense.", he said as he moved quietly across the deck. 'They hadn't even bothered to lift the anchor.....These people are not looking to steal the ship.', he concluded as he looked back at the group wondering if one of them could be associated with the people behind the attack. Or maybe both of them. Deciding to deal with it when the time came, he moved further away from the group.

"Psst....", he called out to the group before gesturing that he was going to sneak in from the side of the ship. Though the two wouldn't understand, Nina had been around him for enough time to be able to figure out his message. He then headed to the edge of the ship and dropped down, his fingers holding the ledge as he shimmied out of sight.

Shamus wandered St. Georgia, looking for something that resembled soap in some way. He'd never been to this port before, or at least thought he hadn't, but with what was either divine intervention or stupid luck, Shamus stumbled his way into a tiny general store. "'Scuse me," Shamus slurred at the man behind a large counter, "you happen to 'ave any soap 'round here? I need..." Shamus paused for a moment and tried to remember just how much soap the Captain had ordered him to buy. He scratched his beard in thought, disappointed that he couldn't remember the specific number. Instead, he dropped the bag of gold onto the counter. "I need this much worth of it." The shopkeep's jaw dropped and he just stared at Shamus. "Well, do you have it or not?" Shamus slammed his fist against the counter. The man stuttered something before bustling off into the back of the store. A moment later, he returned hefting a large burlap sack -almost as large as Shamus himself - with the number "20" printed in black letters on the front, and plopped it on to the counter.

"This good for you, sir?" The clerk panted out. Shamus drew open the sack and withdrew a lump of lye soap, inspecting it as if he were some sort of soap aficionado. Shamus licked the soap, spreading the horrible and burning taste into his mouth. He nodded satisfactory. "Seems pretty good, keep the change." Shamus hefted the bag of soap onto his shoulder and left the man behind the counted dumbfounded.

Shamus stumbled his way back to the docks, having to backtrack several times because he got lost. Eventually, though, he found his way there. "Now where's that thing at again?" He asked himself as he squinted around. He never did see the ship, but he did hear the shouts of what sounded like the Captain and the thudding of several feet. He made his way in that direction, finding the ship just as everyone else was rushing aboard. He wobbled his way up, soap and all. "Aye there, Cap'n. Got that there soap ya wanted." He dropped the soap onto the deck, a few pieces rolling out as it thudded against the wood. Shamus stood with a grin on his face before he noticed everyone else's worried expressions. "Uh, what seems to be the prolem, Cap'n?" He asked, scratching his beard.

Nina looked around to Shamus scrambling on board to which she was going to yell at him to retreat. A group of pirates jumped down, they must of been hiding up in the mast, a particularly tall and beefy man grasped Nina around the waist trapping her arms down by her sides while the rest of the leaders crew surrounded the rest their swords pointing towards the misfit crew of Nina's.
