Fantasy A Fantasy Adventure RP [CLOSED]

The Blood Price GM
GM Note
Hello, I am the GM of the Blood Price, a fantasy adventure RP. I am looking for one more, skilled and mature player for our game. Below is the first post of the game. If this is something that you find interested and can see yourself committing to, then we would love to have you. Fill out a character sheet and I will pm you a message after and we can proceed from there. All the necessary links are at the bottom of this post. See you in Avarice!

The Blood Price, An Adventurer's Guild

The country of Avarice is aptly known as the land where anyone can get what they want. Riches, women, fame; if it can be desired, it can be owned. Kings usurp the throne, men are killed for fame and fortune, and the beasts of the world strive to end it all. Truly, this is a world where the heart’s desire is ever before your grasp. Foremost among the dream chasers are the adventurers who seek glory, fame, fortune, and power through the infamous guild The Blood Price.

The Blood Price is one of the three foundational pillars in Avarice, as are the High King, and the Patriarch. The King minds the people, securing their welfare; the Patriarch offers spiritual guidance and protect their heart; the Guild, funded by the High King and the Patriarch, serve as a body of Avarice, giving the people the tools necessary to survive. From protecting the streets to exploring lost regions, adventurers exchange their lives for their own desires while providing a pivotal role to society’s greater needs. Together, the Three Pillars ensure the safety of Avarice and its prosperity.

The last century has been, as far as history is concerned, peaceful. Wars have been limited to skirmishes amongst lesser lords, food is plentiful, and evil has gained no ground. Yet, dark things move in the shadow. Movement has been reported from the Darklands in the Southern countries across the Iron Sea, the beasts mobilizing some effort; to the East, political instability grows and wars of succession underway in the lands of Nobu. But all is safe in Avarice.

The capital of Avarice is Luxa, home to the Three Pillars, a city of prosperity. The people are happy and laughter is echos in the streets. For every year of peace, the need for adventurers decreases. The risk simply not worth the reward. However, there are those that the call of the adventurer is too strong. Unable to resist, those that answer gather in Luxa and head for the Blood Price.

Nestled in the northernmost district of Luxa lies the fantastically grandeur building, where thousands of adventurers pass through the rich mahogany chambers. The entrance to the Blood Price are two large crimson doors, as tall as three men and thrice as heavy; accented in gold, from the ornate handles to the hinges, the building exuberates an air of refined dignity. The doors are to remain ever opened to those that seek its halls.

Once through the gateway, adventurers are greeted with banners hanging from the rafters depicting the image of former famed adventurers. Daerlon the Immortal, Jean the Fierce, and Fae the Mystic were legends in their own time and are now revered as renowned adventurers and heroes.

Just below the banners is the Broker, manager and operator of the front house and liaison for adventurer needs. Missions, information, and materials can be acquired through the Broker and his network.

Gathered in these halls are the adventurers, from both near and far, that have the desire to fulfill their dreams, to fulfill their greed. Here, in the halls that have cultivated legends, one must move forward and pay the Blood Price.

Hello! I hope it isn't too late to drop an interest here.

I have a few questions concerning the idea, and I understand it may be something you're still working on, so I hope there isn't any pressure if there is something you can't answer just yet. How much freedom is there in creating the backstory and history of one's character? As there is not much to go on about what kinds of beasts exist - or ones that you directly approve of seeing as they are a rarity - what politics, kingdoms, influential figures, relations between different groups of species/people that exist in the current world you've built, are we free to "help" you add in these small things or would doing so directly impair or conflict with ideas that you may already have fleshed out?

Also, when or if the roleplay ever takes off, would characters already be initiated into the guild, or would the whole premise be becoming an "elite member of society" to be qualified to make the oath to The Blood Price (that's the name of the guild, right?)

Thanks for the reply! I want you to have a lot of freedom in your character and backstory but within a certain extent. I want characters to be individuals without being a "snowflake" if that makes sense. Meaning, it is very common to see the tragic orphan prince/princess character despite it being such a rarity for an in-game character, for example. I find that these types of characters can limit where the plot can go and can be a distraction in the long run though interesting in the short. That being said, I am flexible and if you have something in mind that you want to explore, I want to talk about it and incorporate as much as possible.

As far as beasts and races go, this is a human controlled world. There are beastmen and tribes but they are dangerous and do not mix well with humans. Again, if you want to explore an idea, I'm all ears but I do not want characters to be defined by their race, but to have depth in terms of history, personality, and most importantly skill of role playing.

I had in mind that characters would do an introduction post by describing their way into Luxa, finding the guild, and explaining their motivations. I'd prefer if characters be fresh recruits but if some want to already be current members, we can discuss that as well.

Hope that explains some things and doesn't put you off. If you have questions or concerns, I want to talk. We can always work something out. I want this to be your roleplay with me acting as a guide.

Thanks for all the interest everyone! Just so you are all aware, I am looking for mature players that can handle a detailed roleplay. I expect commitment and a modicum of effort.

I am also limiting the number of accepted players to 3 or 4.

If you think this rp is for you, I encourage you to fill out a cs. A writing prompt is forthcoming that will act as an in-character writing sample.

Cheers and I look forward to seeing the characters you come up with!

Update
I've added the first post to the game. Link can be found on the first post of this page under "in-game".
Still looking for one character, two at the most. So if you're still interested, head over to the character sheet and fill one out.
Cheers.

Hello all. I have updated the interest check and we are still looking for at least one more player for our game. If you think this is for you, fill out a cs and we can proceed from there.

Please check out some of the lore and in game posts to get a feel for how this game is and if it something you can see yourself playing.

Hello. Might be interested. Is it ok if a Forum RP Newb joins?

Also, before and after the CharSheet, where do I go? What do I check before making one and after?

Are you planning this to be a closed adventure or is this like a test run to see if you can open it?

Thanks for your interest. I'm fine with new roleplayers if your writing is up to par.

On the first post on this page are a set of links to the cs page, lore, and in game. Give all those a look. After you complete a cs, i will send you a message with possible changes and next steps.

This game is currently up and active but we are looking for one more possibly.

In any case, submit a cs on the cs page and I will message you shortly after
