The Black Knights - Overview

Aseroh, 1892.
We live in a world that is the biggest in our solar system. Both magic and strange creatures exist. We are warriors, who fight to defend our kingdoms, and stand the ground against others, or before ourselves. These 5 kingdoms, each have their warriors. You and me? Yes, we are the black knights. The ones everyone fears, we are the ones that represent our kingdom.

Dignité
This kingdom represents the strength of humanity, the will to survive. The power to protect us all. This is the most powerful kingdom, the rulers of the giant world we are in. The law that controls all us. The warriors come here, the beasts that do everything to keep order.

Fraternité
A small kingdom, the desire for liberty, equality between everyone that lives in this world, and the power we have inside to be equal. Assassins go here, the fastest, deadliest warriors, the ones that master the shadows.

Egalité
Knights. These people fight for honor, the meaning to be in human history, to be a legend. These are like the ones of Dignité, just that they only fight for their honor. Their name, the name of the toughest species, to win over all.

Edén
The people who live here not human, they are elves, the ones that grow with a string in their hands, willing to strike an arrow in between the temple of those who stand to fight against them. These people are pure, only fight for justice, the equality for all.

Régan
These are the mages, the ones to study the books, the art of magic to its fullest, being able to cast the fiercest of magic. They fight for the knowledge of the gods, be it Zeus or Athenas, they will go against anything to serve them.

All these kingdoms have their differences, be it for power or otherwise, but, now the end of all of us is near, something only the Regan knew, something the elders kept secret.

Underneath our world, is the fiercest of beasts. They call it,
Nashor this beast, this horrid creature, creates any type of monster it pleases, be it enormous spiders, or Minotaurs, beasts that had never before seen by our eyes. We are all in danger, Nashor is looking for our destruction, our ignorance has caused us to fall.

Each kingdom, each of us have had our strongest warriors, be it two or three, perhaps even one. We have sent them to destroy this beast, end this all. Ones might have the pleasure to kill it, ones will be stabbed against the wall, fighting for the life of their soul. This is our destiny, you, warrior, will help me destroy this beast, this monster. We will kill it.

- Dignité

Dignitians are raised with a strict sense of law. It's everywhere, to them. With the law comes order, justice, and bloodshed. Many people of Dignité are warriors, raised to fight and protect innocents, for the sake of the law, not the innocents. Their idea of the law is book-like. They're the first on the battlefront, and the last to leave. They have more fighters than they do craftsmen, that's for sure. They are the guards through all of the 5 Kingdoms, though they are more common in Dignite, and less common the farther they are from Dignite. Their land is mostly stone cities now, using waterways for mills, sanitation, and irrigation. They have manmade waterways that cross the continent for transportation and shipment. They're not much into nature, there, everything is orderly. All Dignitians in cities are trained in basic battle, in case their warriors fail.

- Fraternité

Fraternites are for stealth. Protection from the shadows. They fight for liberty, equality, and hopefully someday, a nice, quiet peace. They're a small kingdom, the people there aren't too chatty. They value silence. Fraternité is basically a valley surrounded by mountains. Hard to find. At night, standing in one of the mountains, you could see the huddled flecks of light making up the villages. They have no fear of showing their positions, as their warriors practice at night, as well as day. In the sides of the mountains, one could see more flecks of light scattered about: villages etched into the living rock, or lonely residencies, or stores. Fraternites are very good at thinking outside-of-the-box, and working with what they're given. Fraternites have no problem with the cold of mountain peaks, or rough terrain. In the valley are many flowering trees, that produce plenty of fruit for the residents, as well as cooling shade. They make all of their own materials, using ores and coal mined from beneath the mountains, making weapons of amazing strength and lightness, and art that is truly fantastic.

- Egalité

Egalitians fight for two things: honor and to put their name in the books. They've been called selfish, pompous, or self-absorbed for their efforts to get their name in the books, but it's not always the case. They're classic knights, but they tend to save people more for the good name of it than the people themselves. They're warriors like Dignitians, but they care more for honor than law. Their ideals and fighting styles are more flexible and well-rounded than Dignitians, who are trained in a singular weapon, not all-around. They will fight fairly, even if their opponent won't. Egalité is on the border of plains, ocean, and desert. They have occasional, small strands of trees they consider a "forest". Most live on the plains, or in the pierside towns near the oceans. Many Egalitians that are not warriors are sailors, merchants, fishermen, farmers, or craftsmen. Many kingdoms prefer to trade with Egalitians because the quality will be trustworthy, and as promised.

- Edén

This Kingdom is not made up of humans. These are the Elves. They're raised with an ideal for quiet, happy peace, and balance. Elves are peaceful, kind, and helping, fighting only for equality, harmony, the balance, and defending innocents. Over time, should the search for this peace become too important, they can come to distrust humanity, though this is not often. They don't fight unless necessary, and don't kill unless it's absolutely necessary; but they never regret a kill. They turn cold as ice. All elves are trained with a bow, at least minorly, in case their warriors should fail, they can then protect themselves. Some excel, others don't. They love nature, having a strange connection to it: animals help them, and plants seem to flourish under their care: it's no magic, just... elvish. They eat mostly plants, but are not vegetarians; they have a very high metabolism, and have a lot of energy, being able to run fast and jump high. (They're built for speed and agility) They don't need much sleep at all. Elves generally worship the Norse gods, where the norm for humans is Greek/roman; they believe in the existence of the others, but prefer to worship the Norse. Elves are peaceful, kind, and helping, fighting only for equality, justice, and defending innocents. (If you see this, post your character's favorite kind of music under "other") Because of their love of peace, harmony with nature, heavy optimism, and their isolation from humans (Elves travel through human cities, humans through Elvish, but for no real reason, they don't often intermingle) elves are often seen as naive. This is not so (well, sometimes). They don't feel emotion quite the same way as humans do, (they don't really understand devastation, grief, or phobias. They get scared, but don't feel it outside of the moment) but if an elf were to be around humans long enough, they would. Edén is made almost entirely of forests, with a forested mountain range in the middle of it. They've carved into the mountain, built on it, made it work for them. The vast majority of their residencies are built high in the tops of trees, using ladders, platforms, and bridges. They think outside-of-the-box. They work with animals all of the time. However, thrown into a place like a desert, anywhere loud of very busy, or the stone city of the Dignitians, they'll be very off balance. Non-warriors are usually craftsmen, fine metalworkers, storytellers, linguists, enchanters, or musicians. They are only slightly taller than average, but do have the pointed ears.

- Régan

Mages. They value knowledge and wisdom over all, but in their search for knowledge, as pressured as they are for it, they can become blind to wisdom. They cities are basically libraries with some residencies around it, and temples. Many temples. They are raised to serve the gods, and gain knowledge. They are sometimes seen as heartless, but this is not always the case. They will betray all of humanity if a god told them to. They often wear medallions, pendants, anything that they think will give them more in the eyes of the gods, and are very often seen playing with these while thinking. These usually do nothing in all reality. They are VERY superstitious, yet scientific at the same time. They will sometimes use spellbooks to spend less magic on a spell. They train with their magic all of the time. Their Elders could sometimes discern the future, but they'd never tell anyone outside of their circle. Régan is full of rivers, marshes, lakes, hills, and stone raised from the bottom of the marshes by the Régan's magic. Non-magic Regans are usually non-existent, scribes, librarians, some priest, or fishermen.

The lines on the shore are piers. If you see this, post your character's favorite food under other. The dots represent cities. The area between Eden and Mith is Egalitian. In the upper left are the Marshes of Regan, which extend to the plains. All of that space toward the upper right, with next to nothing? Dignitian, where they've tamed the land to their liking, which is very orderly. Dignitian is both the name of the major city AND the Kingdom! It's not just a label! There are no BORDERS because the Kingdoms are United (roughly, admittedly) and do not have LEGITIMATE BORDERS until you get into the cities. However, landmarks are often considered borders, such as the edge of the forest, the plains, or the mountains.
