The Adventurer's Guild [OOC]

A Not So Wonderful Story A Not So Wonderful Story
Telekinesis would be the ability to lift objects or manipulate physical things (like a sword being swung) with your mind not telepathy which would likely be more about reading people's minds to see what they are thinking or what secrets they have.

There will likely be a decent amount of art of this RP from me I think...

RatKing RatKing I know that, that's why I said "lift things to block attacks or slow a sword blow". I understand the definition of telepathy, I'm trying to learn the limitations of the spirtitual mind affinity. If you can assist me with that, it would be greatly appreciated

I apologize then for stating the obvious. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't confusion between the two terms. Unfortunately I won't be able to answer your question, you will have to wait for KillerChinchilla's response.

As RatKing said, telekinesis is the movement of objects with the mind, which the spirit affinity is not capable of. The mind area of magic only deals with direct mental attacks, and while Severynd can certainly use things such as fear and paralysis against opponents if he wishes, they are a forbidden magic. The implications of this being that if he is found to have used such skills, he will be hunted down by the kingdom, whether he's a part of the guild or not.

The reason behind this is mental attacks can do serious damage to a persons sanity, especially if they are low on resilience. An untrained spirit user is a very dangerous thing. It was part of the reason why I was curious of your choice to use mind over body, seeing as it can't be used to slow attacks or raise items as shields. Most spirit affinities are only used to communicate or interact with the ethereal realm, and as such have no practical applications in combat.

In regards to the skill limit with mental attacks, there isn't a particular number I've felt the need to assign. It's a matter of quality over quantity. While an opponent who can inflict irrational feelings of fear, hallucinations of phantom enemies, and paralysis through interfering with commands to the body all at the same time is certainly a dangerous one, they will also be comparatively easy to break through. A mage who specialises in fear attacks, on the other hand, will be extremely difficult to ignore, and may even have lingering effects of paranoia and nightmares.

Summary: mental attacks are usable, but they are nasty. It's one of the most dangerous magics in terms of unseen and lasting effects, and my personal recommendation is that if you don't want to be in for a world of hurt later on with all the political ramifications, then stick with either enhancing the body in combat, or exploring communication with spirits.

Overall, I hope that cleared up any lasting confusion, though I'm happy to provide further clarification if needed. It is a rather large affinity in terms of potential ability, so I'm glad to finally explain it in more detail.

I was wondering if I could have a second character?
Also-- When are the quests going to be put up? Will we be allowed to choose our groups to go out on them?

Can certainly relate to running out of time (=^=')>
I did include you in my head count since you expressed an early interest though, so you're still good to put up a sheet.

Also, I just want to put it out there that I am so happy with how that boar thing played out-- I thought there were going to be more members like attempting to do something [ Probably not online, but first come, first serve! ] And I am glad a healer could ' Defeat ' a whole horde of boars. Thank you for listening to my commentary.
