• Personality: Brandon Likes to keep to himself, often distancing himself from most people, but usually very sweet in the eyes of his friends. Brandon has at most, shown signs of protection whenever his friends are in trouble in any situation, while he can’t do much, he tries to keep a level head so he can act rationally.
  
  Likes: Manga/Anime, Video Games, Comic Books, Dark Stuff.
  
  Dislikes: Ridiculously religious people (Seriously, Don’t give A shit if your gods messenger, you’re annoying stfu).
  
  Strengths: Brandon is Extremely Creative, not only in his art and cosplays, but in ways that will more than likely help him survive in the wilderness.
  
  Weaknesses: Since Brandon isn’t that physically strong, he can be overpowered pretty easily.

• History: Brandon was born in Waco Texas, Raised by his parents that escaped from North Korea, His life was the usual, going to school, coming home, parents divorce, living with dad, But that never deterred him from his dream career, animation. Once graduating high school, he headed to the Austin Community College, His car, given to him by a late relative. Half-way there, his car was thrown off of the highway; the tumble destroyed his vehicle completely, he acquired minor cuts and a sprained arm. Crawling out of his car, he was quickly grabbed by a mysterious creature, a demon of some sorts. This thing..whatever it was, was tall, at least 6 foot, maybe more. The horns protruded from it’s head in a spiral like that of a goat, it’s skin a sickly ice cold blue while it’s skull was visible with two glowing violet orbs within it’s sockets. The demons grasp was crushing Brandons ribs, it was extremely painful, the cracking could be heard for miles along with His screams of pain. “ThE OLd OnE WiLL ReTUrN...hE ReQuIREs SoULs” A large portion of Brandons soul was absorbed by this demon, the burning was unbearable, words could not begin to describe the agony that Brandon felt. Thankfully, an Owl rushed headfirst into the demons eye before the demon dropped Brandon and instantly crushed the owl, sending blood across the wooded area around them. Brandon tried to crawl away, or at least hide, but the demon quickly snatched him, growling angrily as it continued to squeeze. A crack was heard in the woods along with other peoples voices, causing the demon to hiss and drop Brandon before his vision began to fade to black. Jolting awake in the Baylor Scott and White hospital on I-35, Brandon began to scream loudly as the nurses and the doctor held him down. Brandons father rushed into the hospital room before being quickly escorted out by one of the nurses. Brandon demanded to know what was going on and what had happened, The doctor explained as professional as he could, that Brandon was in a car crash and sustained a concussion. Brandon tried to explain in a panic that some kind of Demon grabbed him and did something, but the doctor shushed him “All part of the concussion.” The doctor concluded. Once Brandon had calmed down, the nurses left, and only Brandon and the doctor remained. The doctors eyes gave off a quick violet glow as he smirked at Brandon and left the room. That night, Brandon could not sleep, his paranoia running through his head as the memories of the incident earlier that night ran through his head, the crushing of his ribs, the demons grasp, and then the mention of this ’Old One.’
  
  After a week had passed, Brandon was fine to return home. His father gave him a ride back home, Telling Brandon repeatedly “College can wait, son. Now, what exactly happened to get you thrown off the highway? A deer in the road?” Brandon nodded, thinking that his father would believe he was crazy if he tried to tell the truth about what happened.
  Over the next couple of weeks, Brandon thankfully started to heal slowly but surely, but at the same time, he felt as if he was being watched, a feeling that unsettled him throughout his time at home. After the third week, Brandon had his father take him to the auto-repair shop in downtown Waco. After Brandon reassured his father multiple times that he was fine, Brandons father left after dropping him off. Brandon heard the cranking of a tire iron as he looked over to the repairman “Almost ready? He asked.” The repairman only gave a nod and a grunt as Brandon stood there and waited, checking his phone to see that he received a text from an unknown number. Curious to see what it was, he opened and his eyes went wide, on the bright screen, read only a single message “Where were we?” He then began to hyper ventilate as he turned around and was immediately thrown aside by the same large hand that had nearly killed him weeks ago, hitting the wall with a loud thud. Grasping his head, he looked up to see a pool of blood beneath the same blue creature that had drained a portion of his life. A loud muffled scream was heard before silence, along with many sickening cracks and tearing of meat. The demon turned back to Brandon, approaching him slowly as the violet orbs glowed once again into his eyes “dO NOt dENy yOuR FAte, ThE oLD ONe HaS CHoSEn yoUR souL to FUEl HiM..” Brandon looked around panickingly before picking up a led pipe, swinging it at the demon. The creatures speed and strength alone grabbed the pipe and bent it before reaching for brandon again. With all of his willpower, Brandon dashed under and past the demon, reaching for the tire iron and throwing it into the demons head. Quickly reaching for his keys, brandon nearly jumped into his car, turned on the engine, and floored it, only to be grabbed seconds later by this otherworldly horror. Brandon pulled his foot off the pedal as the creature began playfully pulling him back. In quick and precise motion, Brandon switched the setting to reverse, and stepped on it, backing the creature into a wall and slamming it against the brick slab behind it. Brandon put the car into drive, and then reverse again, the creature letting out a loud roar of pain as a crack was heard. Brandon kept reversing into the demon again, and again, and again, until finally, nothing was heard.
  
  Brandon sat there for a long while, sobbing quietly to himself. Time and time again he nearly died, his life flashing many times before his eyes, but it was finally over. A feeling of warmth entering his body caused him to relax as he kept his eyes closed, he felt as if life and vigor had been restored to him somehow. Putting his car back into drive, he decided to give his car a wash before heading home.
  
  A day passed by, and Brandon felt as if he was just given a new purpose in life, but many times, he often found himself attracted to supposedly haunted locations. Everytime he went to investigate such places, he told his dad time and time again that he would be either hunting, or camping, and he usually stayed at least a day or two away from home as to not draw suspicion to himself.
  
  As the days went by, he was then brought upon the discovery of the Grummond house, noting that it was another haunted location he could explore. Packing a backpack with essentials, Brandon knew what he was going to do, He was going to become a Cryptic hunter. Bidding his father farewell for the last time, he gave him a hug before sitting in his car, adjusting the rear-view mirror, and backing out of the driveway, to the Grummond house. Brandon Never went to College.

Luke Azar​

• Personality: Luke has no chill. He arguably never had any: growing up on a farm, there was always something to do, and workdays often lasted from dusk till dawn. From a young age, he was instilled with a watchful paranoia: anything from price swings to storms could destroy his family's farm, and his family were always preparing for something. This aspect of his personality got much worse after his haunting. Luke rises early and is always obsessively doing something to prepare Grummond House's defenses. When he's not renovating one of the houses he's trying to flip, he's busy on the group's property, installing its 35th security camera, adding a 3rd layer of locks to his room, or stocking rooms with more and more guns and ammunition. He's largely become desensitized to this, and doesn't de-stress. While he was never that religious in his youth, today Luke believes he's on a mission from God to rid the world of evil and is very devout. He speaks with a slight Southern accent.

  Strengths: Luke is athletic, and, because of his ability, acrobatic. He's naturally perceptive, decisive, and determined.
  
  Weaknesses: Luke is superstitious and obsessive. He's slow to trust and quick to suspect anyone for trying to hurt his "family". He's very stubborn, stuck in his ways, and not easy to get along with.
  
  
• Powers: Can change his mass at will. As he acquired more and more power, the range and speed at which he could do this increased. This makes him incredibly acrobatic.
  
  Skills: Luke hunted a great deal when he was young and is a decent shot. After his haunting, he started training in some skills that worked with his power, most notably taekwondo and parkour, both of which are much easier for him because of his ability to change his bodyweight. Having spent his childhood fixing tractors with duct tape, he's quite handy.
  
  Equipment: He always carries a pistol and butterfly knife. When he goes hunting, he'll carry around a katana.
• History: Born on an Alabama farm to a Lebanese Christian father and an American mother, Luke had an unexceptional childhood. His grades were mediocre, the only sport he didn't quit after one season was baseball, and he spent most of his days on the farm, raising cows and driving tractors. He got into college on a D1 baseball scholarship, and, after graduation, got a job as an industrial machinery salesman.
  
  On a roadtrip from Atlanta to Knoxville, Luke checked into an almost empty motel in the Appalachian mountains. The rooms were surprisingly well kept. As he was getting ready for bed, Luke saw movement out of the corner of his eye in the mirrors, both in the bedroom and in the bathroom, but figured he was just tired. Going to sleep, Luke awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of tapping. It seemed to be coming from in front of him, where the bedroom mirror was. Turning on the light, he saw nothing but his own reflection. Sighing, he thought he lay down to go back to sleep. However, his reflection did not. It raised its right arm, and started tapping. Tap, tap, tap.
  
  Luke leapt out of bed, racing towards the door. Trying to open it, he found it locked. Trying to kick it open, he found it wouldn't open. He drew the curtains, only to find his own reflection on the other side, tapping on the window as well. Tap, tap, tap. Both reflections grinned at him, revealing no teeth. The one by the window vanished, while the one in the bedroom mirror was approached by a beautiful red-haired woman. She tied a noose around his the reflection's neck, throwing the rope over the ceiling fan, then pulled. Luke armed himself with a lamp, awaiting her on the other side. As his reflection went lifeless, the woman stared at him, cocking her head. Running at the mirror, she leapt into it. What came "through" the mirror to Luke's room wasn't the beautiful woman Luke had seen before, but a rotting corpse, screeching and screaming, a noose around her neck. She wasn't strong, but there were worms with mouths and teeths that oozed from her body, latching onto Luke's and biting through his skin. Luke smashed the lamp on the woman's head, which did nothing. He tried to punch and kick, which did nothing. The worms penetrated his body, and he could feel them crawling through his arteries, blocking his blood flow and making their way to his heart. At the last moment, losing consciousness, Luke tore the noose from the woman's body. At once, her corpse crumbled, disintegrated. It was a disgusting process. Luke vomited over the side of the bed, the worms coming out. Leaping off the bed, he crushed them, feeling an onrush of power.
  
  Over the next few weeks, he felt he could jump farther and longer, and when he stepped on a scale, his weight often widely fluctuated. He felt drawn to haunted places, and started hunting.
  
  Needing a job with a more flexible schedule, Luke got a real estate license and invested his savings in foreclosed properties in need of repair. This nomadic work eventually brought him to Toledo, where, with a few other haunting survivors he had met along the way, he renovated Grummond House and settled down with a group of people who had been through the same experience.

• Personality: Jade is a fairly chill and easy going person. Her usual calm energy makes her fairly easy for most people to talk to. She enjoys drinking whiskey and watching scary movies. Her favorite holiday was/is Halloween, enjoying the dark spooky aesthetic. She also participates in mixed martial arts on Thursdays and work outs most morning. She's not necessarily a fitness nut but tries to stay fit for practical reasons.
  Being an artistic soul she loves to draw and got really into tattooing. From a young age she wanted to be an artist and started tattooing at 18.
  
  Likes: Halloween, chocolate covered pretzels, tattoos, tacos, women, drawing, cats, coffee

• History: Jade grew up in Hudson NY, in a family of 6. Being on of the middle children she was a stereotypical troublemaker in her early life and a bit of a 'tomboy'. In her teens she wasn't known for hanging around with the best crowd.
  One day her and her friend decided to visit one of the abandoned buildings on none other than halloween night. One by one they took turns going in alone to explore then come out for the next to go in. Jade was the 4th to go in after one of them unceremoniously 'relieved' themselves in living room. The spirit bound to the house must have taken offence to the rude behaviour and took to attempting to kill the next to enter, Jade.
  When she stepped in she immediately felt a chill down her spine. She pushed forward to the stairs when the olden wooden floor collapsed, sending her into the basement. While nothing was broken she was cut up and had small pieces of wood piercing her skin. As she was about to get up she saw the visage of a old man standing across the room before charging at her. She stumbled to her feet before sprinting into a room in the basement. Tripping, she found herself on the bones of some person. Shocked, she jumped to her feet, sharp pains shooting through her. Noticing the ghost had not followed her into the room she took the time to pull the bits of wood out of her legs. In an attempt to figure out how to get out of the situation she recalled a scene from a show in which the bones were burned in order to get rid of a poltergeist. Pulling out her lighter used for smoking she used the wood from her legs to and other wood pieces in the room to burn the bones she had found. In what felt like a pure dumb luck guess the ghost appeared, burning with the bones before dissipating. Feeling a sudden rush of energy she stood and made her way out of the house before passing out from an adrenaline crash on the porch in front of her friends. They rushed her to the hospital where she spent the next few days.
  While in the hospital she was reaching for a glass of water that was just out of reach when the water in the cup moved, pulling closer to her hand. Freaked out by the absurdity of what just happened she tried again to find the same affect.
  After she got out of the hospital she felt the insatiable urge to go to another haunted place, an itch she just had to scratch.

  General Description: Jesper is a tall and lanky sort of guy, with long legs he's always tripping over. He has golden brown curly hair that falls into his eyes a lot, and just curls around the nape of his neck. He has amber/golden eyes that seem to move and shift with all sorts of colors.

  Personality: Jesper is a very quiet and sort of meek kind of guy. He loves computers and anything electronic and often spends all his free time either programming (he's attempting to create his own game) or playing chess with himself. Jesper tends to not speak in front of other people, due to his social anxiety, but will often chime in with "helpful" facts that he feels fit the situation (once at a funeral, he told everyone that every year, about 8 out of every 1,000 people die, according to the Population Reference Bureau and the CIA's World Factbook, and he didn't get the reception he thought he was going to get for sharing such an interesting fact). Jesper is utterly clueless when it comes to other people, and will often come off as rude or arrogant, but he just doesn't know how to maintain a social image. Due to his stay at a psych ward, Jesper is physically unable to get more than 4-5 hours of sleep at night, and often has nightmares that send him screaming into the night.
  Likes: Computers, quiet, libraries, strawberries, video games, programming, building computers, heavy metal (guilty pleasure)
  Dislikes: Prolonged social interaction with people, shouting, arguing, grapes (just hates them), not being taken seriously, the color red, enclosed spaces
  Strengths: Jesper is very intelligent and an amazing problem solver, and an absolute genius with computers and anything related to them
  Weaknesses: Very easily scared (high strung af), not very athletic, not social at all

  Powers: Electromagnetism manipulation - Jesper is able to manipulate the electrical fields of anything (once he gets stronger, of course; right now, he's only able to sense disturbances in electromagnetic fields, which allows him to sense whenever a monster is anywhere within a 1km radius; and can detect and follow electrical fields, which allows him to track the whereabouts of any monsters close to him).
  Skills: Jesper had to train himself to get handy with a knife after his first monster encounter, but he's hesitant to use one, even though he knows the more monsters he kills, the more his power will advance. Currently trying to learn how to use a bow
  Equipment: A couple of throwing knives are now permanently attached to his hips, as well as a pocketknife in his coat pocket
  
• 
  History: Jesper grew up in a normal American family. His parents were proud Americans, and thus, Jesper received every inch of American schooling as he grew up. Pretty soon, his parents realized his abnormal intelligence and sent him off to study in a privileged private school, where he spent most of his life. He never had any friends and grew up pretty much alone, if you didn't count his enormous computer collection.
  When he was 18, he encountered his first monster. He was walking home from school when some kids from a nearby public school ambushed him and dragged him to his town's resident "haunted house", an abandoned hospital off the beaten track. There, he was beaten up and left for dead. When he came to, it was well past midnight, and he was somewhere in the hospital, but with no recollection of how he got there. As Jesper tried to figure his way out, he had a distinct feeling something was following him. He ended up freaking himself out so much that when he rounded a corner and almost ran into the monster, he nearly fainted. It was the deformed body of a patient from the hospital, who died a horrific death which ultimately caused the hospital to shut down. Her eyes were blank and soulless, eyes long gone because the victim clawed them out whilst still alive; her hands were nothing more but bloody stumps, and her mouth was unhinged, like a snake, with rows of knife-sharp teeth. Jesper ran for it, but in his panicked state, he couldn't find the exit and ended up playing a terrifying game of catch with the thing. Finally, he collapsed due to exhaustion and could only stare mutely as this thing advanced on him, slowly limping and swaying from side to side. Purely by accident, Jesper's fingers brushed some sort of thick steel wire, left behind after a demolition had been canceled. Desperately, he jabbed the wire into the ghoul's mouth, piercing through its head and making it collapse into dust. Jesper then fainted.
  He awoke in the hospital with his concerned parents staring down at him. No matter how much he tried to explain to them what happened, they didn't believe him. Instead, he got locked in a psych ward, and it took him nearly two years to escape. He's since cut off all ties with his family (though they do send him funds which he reluctantly uses for rent). It was in that psych ward that he realized that he can sense when the monsters are near, which proved to be a curse since, during those two years, he never got adequate sleep due to the number of monsters that plagued the ward. Thankfully, he avoided any contact with them, but it was a nerve-wracking experience that left a stamp on him.
  
  He now rents a small apartment in Toledo and works at a nearby Apple bar, fixing computers, and wishing to find someone else who's like him.

Thessaly Fox​

  Occupation: Petty thief and part-timer
  Birthday: March 28th
  General Description: All angles and gangles Thessaly is a scrap of a boy. You could cut yourself on his cheekbones or his chin, but only metaphorically. Thank Christ he didn't get the dumb power of being able to do that literally. As pale and light as skim milk, Thess has had all the good stuff scraped out of him. There's the lightest dusting of freckles across his nose and a near permanent scowl stamped on his face. Topping him off is a mop of choppy auburn hair.
• Personality: You know the little yappy dog that won't let go with its nasty little needle teeth when it latches onto something? That's Thessaly. This boy is every bit the product of his environment, spewing back all the venom served to him and then some. He has a short temper, a foul mouth and, thankfully, a shred of insight. Thessaly knows just how bad he is. With the new outlet of slaying abominations to the natural order, maybe he can become less...offensive...antagonistic...belligerent...the list could go on but it would transcend comedy. Honestly beneath the bluster of his bark Thessaly is a scared young man scarred by abuse. It's an age old trope, but no matter how much you hate him it isn't going to be as much as he hates himself.
  
  
  Likes: Free Wi-Fi, BBQ, video games, dogs, starting fights.
  
  Dislikes: Baths, strangers, being patronised or pitied, losing.
  
  Strengths: Brimming with persistence and courage, when you get past the crunchy outer layer Thessaly is a good guy to have in your corner. Once he trusts you (which is no mean feat) he will never give you up nor let you down. And despite his dumb mouth, Thess has a keen eye.
  
  Weaknesses: Both paranoid and antagonistic, Thessaly is not the best team player. He's also wont to start fights he's not equipped to finish. Yes, he's got spunk, but his fighting "techniques" are unrefined.
• Powers: Currently Thessaly is just especially durable, a manifestation of his desire to protect himself from any further harm at the hands of another person. His actual power is a psychokinetic barrier around himself, like a second skin. With time he may even be able to extend and control it.
  
  Skills: Thess can pick locks and pick fights. Even before his first encounter he knew how to take a punch. He's excellent at climbing and getting into tight places, as well as finding hideyholes. In terms of combat ability he's a scrappy, dirty street fighter.
  
  Equipment: This boy doens't have much to go with his bad attitude. He has a set of lockpicks, a pair of wire cutters, a pocket-knife and a beat up old laptop. Oh, and never go anywhere without a flashlight.
• History:
  
  There are many things that children deserve. Food, clothing and shelter, of course. An education. Those things are all easily defined. But what about the stuff that's harder to pin down? Family. Safety. Warmth. Love. In spite of what she did, Arlena Fox would swear that she loved her boy until the day she died. She worked day in and day out to feed, clothe, wash and shelter him. She kept him even though his rat of a father walked out on her. She kept him, the baby that had made the only man she'd ever loved leave! Thessaly owed her everything.
  
  The relationship between mother and son was a rope that had started fraying from the moment of the boy's birth. As he grew Thessaly eventually gave up on any hope of pleasing his mother, who became increasingly unstable. As he transitioned from child to adolescent the food on the table became sporadic, his clothes ill-fit and the house fell into disarray. Soon he was skipping school, starting fights and stealing food. Dropping out was the next step. What was even the point? He would never get away from her. It was stupid, the power Arlena's sharp words held over him.
  
  Eventually she wouldn't even let him leave the house. She wasn't going to let him leave her, just like his father had! Not after everything she'd done for him, given up for him! There was no way Arlena was going to let him steal away in the night, like he had stolen the best years of her life. The higher the tension grew, the more and more fibres of their red thread of fate split.
  
  One night, the thread snapped.
  
  Thessaly had snuck out. Through a window and scaling down a storm pipe he'd gone to...honestly he hadn't even had a plan. The air in that house had been so rank and stale. The kid didn't know what death smelled like, but he had an idea. He'd just needed to get out. To be away. As per usual he came slinking back in the early hours of the morning nursing cuts and bruises. Scrambling back up the pipe and shimmying through his window, Thessaly barely had time to register Arlena's silhouette before she seized him by the collar of his shirt and dragged him into the room with inhuman strength.
  
  Thessaly landed against his dresser with a thud. A groan passed his lips as he was showered with knick-knacks that fell from the force of impact. Arlena loomed over him pelting him with spittle as she screeched. Still reeling, the youth grabbed for something, anything, to defend himself. Cool metal kissed his palm as his hand closed around a flashlight. Weapon secured, Thess scrambled across the floor. He barely dodged his mother's hands, which looked more like claws in the dim room. All he could see was the whites of Arlena's eyes as he struggled to his feet. With a gutteral holler, Thess smacked the bell of the flashlight against his assailant's head with a crack.
  
  She kept coming, clamouring, clawing. Again and again Thess bludgeoned his mother's skull. Eventually her assault of scratches slowed, arms falling limp. Her eyes, glazed white, looked like marbles as her head lolled to the side.
  
  Thessaly fell back against his bed, chest heaving. He couldn't take his eyes off his mother's cooling corpse. Transfixed, he waited for her to leap up, for that lolling tongue to hurl berating words his way. Minutes passed. Thess stayed frozen. Arlena stayed dead.
  
  Thess breathed.
  So did Arlena.
  
  Actually, it was more like she deflated. Her stomach hollowed out and her milky eyes sank into her head. With a slurp like a sink unclogging something slithered from her open mouth. It resembled a slug, long and black and slightly shiny. However, as it fled its dead host hundreds of tiny tendrils continued to feed into its undulating form. Without thinking Thessaly slammed his flashlight into it. Ichor and blood and skull shards splattered across the floor again. And again. And again. Thessaly didn't even realise he was screaming. The thing had been squealing, too. Both cries petered out as the creature was reduced to a smear on the carpet.
  
  After that, Thessaly left. Oh, sure, he cleaned up first but there was no way he was staying in that house. But it was weird. Getting hit still hurt, but it didn't last long. Beatings that should have rendered him into pulp just left him bruised. And then there was that pull, like a fishhook in his gut dragging him towards places he knew were bad news. But after what he'd lived through, just how bad could they really be?

  Weaknesses: She's not good with melee. Doesn't stop her for putting a fire axe in her pocket space though.

  Equipment: Whatever the hell she put into her personal space. The holy trinity that she usually carries are a gun(either rifle or shotgun), fire axe and molotovs. Light source, camera, pepper spray and 'salt rock mace' are some other things that she usually carry
• History: Sharon's parents are rich and she was born with silver spoon on her mouth. Everything was already planned for her and while at first she never questioned it, eventually she was overwhelmed by boredom and feels detached to life. She felts like a robot, doing a prescripted command and nothing else.
  
  After her college graduation she and a few of her friends held a party in a villa near a woods. It was a rowdy party but Sharon felt exhausted and spent most of her time alone in the peak of the nearby hill overlooking the beautiful nature. Until a shadow looming over her from behind.
  
  Sharon turned her head and was baffled by the appearance of a hulking monster with moldy body and a deer head. She was almost turned into a pulp as the monster swung a whole tree at her. Fortunately she was able to dodge and use the dense trees to ran away from the monster. She was loooking at the death's door back there but for some reason she felts more alive than she had ever been.
  
  After the party ended Sharon stays in the villa and ordered many hunting equipment. Her friends looked at her as if they're looking at someone crazy, at first a few willing to heard about her story and even accompanied her for a few days, but the so-called deerman that Sharon had been gushing about never appear and they left her. Only when she was alone, only at night, and only in the woods the deerman appeared once more.
  
  This time sharon was ready, or so she thought before she grabbed her rifle and fight with the deerman using guns and traps. However the deerman didn't go down easily and even learn to deploy his own traps. Their battle was postponed whenever the sun arise, and continued during night time. This continued for almost an entire month, and Sharon had been forcibly picked up by her family several times, only to come back to the place later. At one point her family gave up and let her finish her delusion. Finally, she was able to kill the deerman after burning it with molotovs and loaded dozen of bullets into its head. After that she was finally able to attain peace of mind, but her obsession had already been awakened.

  Personality: Marceline does not like letting people get to know her. She's a curious, intense person, who often takes herself too seriously. Marceline was the student who enjoyed school, the daughter of educators, and is pursuing the same path for herself.   Weaknesses: Not a team player in the slightest, Marceline is used to going through life relying solely on herself, so trusting and relying on others is a hard feat for her. She's closed off and standoffish. Her social skills also leave much to be desired.
  
  Powers: Impenetrable skin. After killing anything supernatural, Marceline found out the hard way that for a prolonged amount of time, her skin was almost completely impenetrable. This doesn't make her totally immune to damage, though. If anything, it made it harder to find any internal injuries. But, she becomes impervious to any scratches, cuts, bullets, anything really.
  
  Skills: Marceline knows basic self defense, but continues to learn more every day. She's fast and sly, with plenty of stamina to keep her going.   History: Marceline was born an only child to a humble family with big American dreams in the big American midwest. Her father, Diego, was a third generation Spaniard and grad school professor, son of educators and scholars, and instilled those values into his daughter from an early age. Her mother, Yasmin, was a Cuban immigrant, a hard working woman who never expected to get married, instead wanting to travel and explore what the world had to offer before ever thinking of having children. But she fell in love, quick and hard, and then there was Marceline, and her mother's adventurous whims were stamped out. Before happy memories, she remembers her parents and home from those quiet, tense moments. As an only child, her parents expectations were heavy, and Marceline did her best to live up to her parent's dreams for her. Her father was doing good work - there was nothing more valuable than education, he reasoned. Her mother was a stay at home mom, occasionally finding small jobs to do if they ever needed the extra cash, but there wasn't ever really the need. They lived comfortably, and Marceline learned to douse her expectations for life, such as her mother did.
  
  She did exactly as the world said, following the formula for a happy, successful life. Marceline did well throughout all of school, graduating a year early from high school while balancing a part time job. Her intelligence was like a hunger, voracious for more, and her quest for knowledge was barely sated at home. She dated around, but nothing serious, not allowing herself to become tied down. Pursuing a degree in education with a focus on music, Marceline soon began working in a teaching program to earn her credentials before becoming a teacher at the University of Cleveland.
  
  There was somebody in her apartment, somebody that was not Marceline, and then somebody was at her work, somebody that was not Marceline, and then somebody was asleep her own bed, somebody that was not Marceline. She hadn't realized it at first, how her day had started off wrong. She slept through her alarm, got ready for work in a rush and left within twenty minutes, and then her day was blank. If Marcy asked her coworkers about that day, they would look at her curiously, and remark upon her quiet, off behavior that day. If she asked her girlfriend, she would have answered the same. Marceline arrived home, late at night, head full of television static before the soft lighting in her apartment and open windows indicated that somebody was even home.
  
  Marceline grabbed a knife from the wooden block in the kitchenette and walked into her bedroom with bated breath. When she pulled back the covers of her bed, her own face stared back at her, eyes heavy with faux sleepiness, hair tousled. Marceline, the real one, nearly threw up at that moment. The bile in her throat was making her choke, her head spun, and the doppelganger slowly sat up before grabbing Marceline by the throat and slamming her against the wall.
  
  The scuffle felt like mere seconds; the pure rush of adrenaline in her veins was what gave her the energy to shake off the murkiness in her head, and Marceline grabbed her double and slashed away with her knife. Whatever slices she could get in were only shallow, but the blood was black and thick. The double kicked at her legs, tumbling them both over as they grappled each other, and the knife dropped and bounced off out of the door of the bedroom. The screams rang in her ears, but Marceline dragged herself away and desperately grabbed for the knife. Before she could move, though, the doppelganger grabbed her by the hair and threw her onto the glass coffee table with a strength the real Marceline could never have.
  
  Marceline nearly blacked out from the pain, but as her double leaned over her and ignored the glass cutting it's feet, Marceline closed her hand around a large shard of glass and cut its throat.
  
  The body of the fake Marceline laid dead on her living room floor, bleeding black, twisted and contorted and skin all wrong and face too loose. Dripping from head to toe in ichor, clothes ruined with black, Marcy aimlessly grabbed her car keys and left her apartment. Her head was devoid of all thoughts, but there was a thrum of energy after the kill that kept her going, kept her awake during the long drive to her parents house down in southern Ohio. That night, Marceline was the sole survivor of a seven car major accident on the highway, caused by a careless truck driver whose cargo went flying down the interstate. The accident, and her subsequent survival, made national news for a hot minute. Pictures of her car, even a video of the incident, went viral on the internet for around a week. Marceline walked away from the accident unscathed, and knew what had to be done.

• History: As the son of two successful lawyers, it only made sense that Sam be one too. He works as an intern at his father’s office, and is set to become partner as soon as he graduates. He was your typical law student—cocky, ambitious and always causing trouble.
  
  One day, on a trip to the beach with a few college friends, Sam began to hear beautiful singing coming from the shore. Leaving his friends in the beach house, he went alone to the water, calling out. “Hello?” He asked, looking through the dark to see if anyone was there. The singing continued. “Who are you?” He asked, fighting the urge to walk into the water. Maybe I should go for a swim, he thought. It was pitch black out, the waves beating against the shoreline viciously. Still the singing continued, seeming to draw him into the water.
  
  Almost without realizing it, Sam was in, up to his waist. The voice persisted, and Sam no longer called out. It pulled him in deeper, until it was up to his chest, a large wave sweeping over him, pushing his head under the water. This is nice, Sam thought, opening his mouth to let the water enter his lungs. A woman swam to him then, grabbing his arm and dragging him down, towards the bottom, her teeth needle sharp, her eyes blacker than the darkest night. Panicking, Sam began to thrash, struggling towards the surface. His head broke through the water, and he gasped down oxygen, before being dragged back under ny the woman. Pulling the small pocket knife that he kept in his pocket for emergéis out, Sam stabbed her over and over, until she finally let go after being stabbed in the vocal chords. As her chest rose for the last time, Sam felt the energy settle over him, not quite knowing what it meant at the time.

She tends to get frustrated if she can’t figure out the answer to her problems, and wished everything in the world was fair.
  
  Likes: Sleep, nice people, romance, animals, her job, medieval times
  
  Dislikes: Rude people, dishonesty, chili, the dark, making deals
  
  Strengths: Selena thinks through both sides of the story, allowing her to give a fair, and often times correct judgement. She is also very good at acting, which is why she is so successful. She is also a great planner.
  
  Weaknesses: Selena’s strengths can also be her downfall. She is very trusting, so if someone is good enough at playing her, she tends to see past any faults they may have. She also hates conflict.

  Skills: Selena is gifted at archery, as well as knife throwing, making her effective at long range fighting. She was also taught melee, so she can use her fists and feet if she needs to.
  
  Equipment: Selena always carries a fake id and badge for all of her alibis that she uses. Most members of the team have them, though not as many as she does. She also carries medicinal supplies with her, and is constantly patching up injuries.
• History: It was cold out, and as Selena began the walk back to her trailer, she tucked her fingers into her sleeves. She still wore that night’s costume, a mid 1500s french getup that she rather liked. She looked down at herself now, admiring the way the folds of the white dress flowed, and swore when she realized she still had the set’s most valuable prop on her. It was a silver knife, the real one they used for closeups, that had cut Selena many times, much to her embarrassment. She’d have to remember to return it tomorrow, or Waylon, her set manager would kill her.
  
  She rounded the corner, coming face to face with a man, a startled shriek coming from her mouth. Selena leaped back, only to realize it was Carter, her second in the show. She punched him lightly on the shoulder, smiling. “You scared me, doofus,” she told him. “What are you doing out so late?”
  
  He gave no response, and instead grabbed her, pulling her towards him in what seemed to be a lover’s embrace. Was he going to kiss her? She liked the man, sure, but not in this way! She pulled away, a laugh bubbling on her lips when she felt something sharp prick her throat. Carter had a knife. “Carter, what are you doing?!” she demanded, the movement causing the knife to prick her throat. HEr hands reached for the knife at her side, wrapping around the hilt without him noticing.
  
  “I’m not Carter,” the man murmured in her ear, and she whirled to face him, the knife hidden behind her back. Her eyes widened as the man’s face morphed, changing into someone else entirely. Without thinking, Selena lashed out with the knife, stabbing him right through the heart. They’d been practicing a scene just like this on the set today. As he slumped to the ground, blood bubble at his mouth, and Selena felt charged with energy, like she was plugged in to an electrical current.

  Strengths: A majority of the time, she is able to think things through with a clear head, coming up with the best course of action or plan as a result. Her strong sense of loyalty to those she trusts also means that she will do whatever she can to protect them. Additionally, her dance experience means that she is physically fit and agile.
  
  Weaknesses: She can sometimes get too consumed by work, perfection, or planning which can end up blinding her to better ideas. Her perfectionism can also lead her to become frustrated if things aren't going a certain way despite her best efforts.
• Powers: Kara is able to manipulate metal to her will. However, currently, manipulating larger pieces of metal is hard for her and can cause a headache.
  
  Skills: Being early in the pre-med program, Kara has basic knowledge of how to take care of injuries and treat illnesses. Her dance experience has also allowed her to become agile in a fight and to be able to use stealth to her advantage. She knows very basic self-defense; however, she isn't very physically strong.
  
  Equipment: Kara carries around a variety of small metal objects, such as pins, as well as a couple of metal knives. She also keeps a small notebook on her person to keep track of any important information she needs to remember.
• History: Ever since she was a kid, Kara dedicated her time to two things: dance and her education. Although dance later faded to the background as solely a hobby, Kara continued her education, winding up in a prestigious college with plans to later attend medical school (in some part due to pressure from her doctor parents.)
  
  One day, after a lengthy study session at her favorite cafe, Kara hailed a cab to drive her back to her dorms at school. The cab pulled up to the sidewalk and Kara got in, giving the driver directions to her dorm building. The driver gave no response but began driving which Kara took to mean that he knew where to go. She soon became absorbed in thinking about the following day's exam, until she realized the driver in nearly the opposite direction of her dorm. She called up to the driver to tell him he was going the wrong way, but once again the driver gave no response. Kara started becoming increasingly worried after realizing they were now nearly in the middle of nowhere and yelled at the driver to turn around. She began pulling on the car door to try and get out but found it locked. She looked back up towards the driver just in time to see the front of the car crash into a tree on the side of the road.
  
  Kara was in a daze after the crash, bloodied by shards of metal and glass that had broken off from the car. She was roughly broken out of her stupor when the taxi driver pulled her out of the car and shoved her onto the ground. For the first time, Kara could finally get a clear look at the man's eyes, and all she knew was that what she saw in them wasn't human. Suddenly, the man lunged at her, hands outstretched to choke her. She sidestepped him but fell to the ground when he swept his foot under her leg. His hands latched onto her neck and began to choke the life out of her. Kara tried to pull his hands off of her neck to no avail so she began searching the ground around her for something, anything that could hurt him and get him off of her. Her hands finally found purchase on a shard of metal, which she proceeded to stab into the man's back. Startled he let go of her long enough for Kara to regain her bearings. Before he could get the chance to restart his attack on her, Kara stabbed him again. She kept stabbing him until suddenly he stopped moving. As he stopped moving, the adrenaline rushed out of her and she collapsed at the base of the tree they had crashed into. Vomiting and crying she threw her hands to her sides, but even though she hadn't touched anything, the car door tore off and flew into the ground a few feet away.
  
  Scared and confused, Kara called the police to clean up the crime scene and the body. After everything was over, Kara couldn't forget about how she had been able to move the car door without touching it. After experimentation, she discovered that she could manipulate metal to her will. She eventually decided to do research into her newfound powers and attempt to find out if there was anyone similar to her.

  General Description: Al is tall and scawny and he always looks tired. He has that face that no one really notices, a grey dot in the mass. His hair is curly and stubborn, so he never makes an effort to tame it.
• Personality: He is very intelligent and book smart, but he has little to no empathy. Training to be a surgeon doesn't require a lot of emotional contact with patients, though, so he is fine. When it comes to humour, Al doesn't really hit the average person with his jokes, as they are morbid and often a little too dark for everyones taste. He takes his new purpose quite seriously and thinks it's some kind of calling and that they're the chosen ones. He is a very structured person and has zero tolerance for people who forget things.
  
  Likes: Coffee (black without sugar), late night walks through the city, silence, being alone or with the people he trusts, being in control
  
  Dislikes: Tea (what is that? Water with taste?), being belittled or made fun of, having no idea what is going on, going in without a plan, using his powers
  
  Strengths: He is a skilled leader, can coordinate people well and is in general a very confident person. He knows that he knows a lot of things and also lets it show from time to time. Even in close life or death situations he is the coolest person in the room.
  
  Weaknesses:He is a bit too convinced of himself (borderline narcissistic), he can be distastefula and tactless, which doesn't exactly spark other people's sympathy, it might seem like he has a death wish sometimes, he is a selfish ass
• Powers: He can change form and turn into a black skinned monster
  The transformation makes him super fast and hightens his senses (except for eyesight, he is almost blind in that form).
  It also makes it almost impossible for him to control his impulse to kill, but it's really handy to go after monsters when he's on his own.
  
  Skills:
  Boxing: The school psychologist once suggested boxing as a coping mechanism, so he went with it, which he stopped again because he stood no chance against the people around him. He knows how to land a hit if you want to hurt someone, but that's about it.
  Medical knowlege: He is almost a surgeon, so he knows a lot about the human body and how to fix it.
  A credit card without limit: Practical for equipment some of them might need.
  
  Equipment: He is prepared for everything. Al has two flashlights, an army knife, a multitool, a first aid box, some rope, salt and two 9 mm in his backpack.
• History: Growing up in a big house in the suburbs, a white fence around the garden and pretty flowers around the windows, Al's life seemed perfect from the outside. Sure, he was a shy kid who never really talked much, but that was no reason for concern, right? No one knew that his father was psychologically abusive and his mother was too weak to stand up for the both of them. He learned from a young age on that the only person one can trust was the man in the mirror and he still lives by that law. When he left home for college, Al started to finally realize that what he knew from home wasn't the only way to live. By the time he started meds school, he had become a lot more self confident. Because of the way he had been treated most of his childhood, he could never relate to other people's feelings.
  
  One day, he went drinking with some university friends- just colleagues, really- when suddenly a weird white looking monster - as he later found out a Wendigo- started attacking them, one by one. Mostly unaffected by the other peoples death, he tried to run for his life, but the thing went after him, too. When it launched at him, he found himself holding a shard of glass from the broken window. It went right through the creature's chest and it collapsed on top of him.
  
  The next few weeks were hell for Al. He couldn't sleep and always had the feeling that something was knocking in the back of his head. One day, he woke up, looking exactly like the Wendigo, but his skin was black instead of white. Since then, he has been training the transformation and also hunting down monsters to gain more control over the monster within.

  General Description: Donal cleans up nicely, despite his impairment - he is a triple amputee, with both legs removed below the knee and his right arm from the elbow. He is often seen with auburn hair in a simple fade and a 5-o'clock shadow smattered with flecks of crimson, betraying his Irish heritage. He dresses as your stereotypical fashionable Millenial - designer T-Shirts with a jacket (usually denim or thin flannel), and often switches between jeans and shorts, depending on whether he expects to be in his prosthetics for the majority of the day or not. While his prosthetics aren't comfortable to wear for prolonged periods, he is often forced to wear them for longer than he'd like to be able to move around like a "normal", abled person. Sometimes he wears aviator sunglasses that cover up his bright hazel eyes.
• Personality: Before his accident, Donal was rather laid back and relaxed, simply taking life as it came to him. Nothing really seemed to phase him, whether good or bad. His parents always told him he was naturally gifted, but he never really applied himself in anything (save video games). After the accident, Donal fell into a deep depression for over a year, questioning his beliefs and the meaning of life. As he began finding answers, he became much more diligent and hard-working, while recovering his relaxed demeanor. He now applies himself in all that he does to prove to the world (and more importantly to himself) the old adage from Dr. Emmett Brown: "If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything."

  Dislikes: Things requiring two hands, being told/viewed as "less" because of his impairment, kale, excuses
  
  Strengths: His one functional arm and hand are incredibly strong - he has also taken up boxing as a hobby to help strengthen said arm, so his punches hit like a truck. He is also a deep thinker, having gone through a faith/mental crisis due to the accident, which led to him majoring in Philosophy. Due to that, he considers his faith to be his main strength - the thing that keeps him going despite the cards that he has been dealt. This has also made him very mentally resilient - not stubborn, but not easily swayed, either.
  
  Weaknesses: Constantly has to fight his desire to compare himself to those around him, viewing himself as "less" than others, as well as longing for the "good ol' days" before the accident. Also, being a triple amputee, has many physical limitations which are a constant reminder of his weaknesses.
• Powers: "Soul Form" (as named by Donal) - currently is the ability to have his spiritual form manifest in the physical realm, allowing his previously severed limbs to manifest spiritually (they are colored light blue). This lets him use his right arm and both legs as a "normal", abled person can, although the more he interacts with the physical world, the more tiring it becomes. Donal likes to compare it to classic RPGs - he's using "Soul Points" as he interacts with the physical world, so the more he uses, the more drained he becomes. When he interacts with the physical world, the part that is interacting turns green, yellow, or red depending on how much effort he is expending. One can see the level of "exhaustion" by how transparent the spirit limbs are (more transparent means more tired). Currently, he can also "extend" his spirit hand to grab/manipulate things at a distance - however, this drains his "SP" a lot faster. At this point, if he doesn't manipulate anything with his legs/arm, he can manifest his limbs indefinitely, being able to walk without tiring. As he continues to slay monsters, these "Soul" powers will manifest in different ways (possibly based on the monsters he takes down), including combat and non-combat abilities.
  
  Skills: Trained boxer (albeit one-handed), skilled thinker/debater, able to do many things one-handed, empathy for those who are less fortunate than "normal"
  
  Equipment: Prosthetic legs and forearm, crossbody bag (which most often holds his cellphone, cigarettes, cigars, lighter, notebook, pens & pencils, and whatever book he's currently reading), pocket knife clipped to his belt/waistband
• History: Donal was born into an Irish Catholic family, with an Irish father and an American mother. His family was middle class, so while he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Donal didn't really lack anything. He was a semi-popular, relaxed teen - never really getting into trouble, but not striving to be the perfect student either.
  
  Then the accident happened.
  
  When he was halfway through his senior year of high school, he and his entire family were in a car accident. Donal was the only survivor from both vehicles, leaving his legs and right arm mangled beyond repair. Thus began his descent into depression. More than a year later (with newly-purchased prosthetics), he began a new life as a disciplined, focused man. He graduated with a major in Philosophy and became a professor at the same university.
  
  6 months ago, his life was altered once again.
  
  Late one night Donal answered a knock at his door only to see a large, monstrous, luminescent hand hovering in place. The next thing he knew, he was ripped out of his apartment and thrown across the grounds. Aching all over, he tried to stand, but realized that all of his prosthetics were gone - they were blown off by the impact. He struggled to crawl away, but felt the immense hand grab him again. Donal reached towards his hip as he felt the hand yank him again. This time it pulled him towards the source - he couldn't get a good look at it, save its glowing, fully-crimson eyes. Its putrid breath poured over Donal's face, nearly causing him to vomit.
  
  YOUR SOUL WILL FEED MY STRENGTH, MORTAL
  
  The next thing Donal knew, his knife was buried handle-deep into the thing's cranium, causing it to drop him as it writhed in agony. Donal looked up to see a towering monstrosity with one brightly-glowing arm thrashing madly to remove the blade. Finally it was able to tug the blade from its home, but its grip must have been loose because the knife landed next to Donal. Without thinking, Donal grabbed the knife and threw it as hard as he could back at his assailant. Fortunately for Donal, the blade sunk through one of the demon's eyes and vanished within its skull. Suddenly, the creature stopped, and its body collapsed. As Donal stared at the remains, blue tendrils suddenly shot from the corpse straight at him.
  
  Pain.
  
  Then darkness.
  
  When he awoke, the sky was just beginning to glow with sunrise. He looked around for the body, but found nothing, save an unusually large imprint in the grass in front of him, and his bloodied knife. He stood, grabbed the knife, then replaced it at his left hip. He surveyed the surroundings when he became aware of something...
  
  His prosthetics were laying about 15 feet away from him.
  
  And he was standing.
  
  He looked down and saw shimmering blue human legs coming from his knees, holding him up. The soles of the feet (which he could see since the legs were translucent) were a soft green. He glanced to the right to see the same was true of his right arm - a matching iridescent human arm and hand where there was once nothing. Even more strangely, he felt them.
  
  He couldn't believe it - he had his limbs back.
  
  He quickly walked to his prosthetics and reached down to grab them with his new hand, but it simply passed right through. Shocked, he tried again, but still to no avail. Determined, he focused on his new right hand and willed it to work. Suddenly he saw the fingers and palm turn a shade of green akin to the soles of his feet. When he lifted one of his prosthetics, the color shifted more towards amber. As he finished gathering his prosthetics, he saw his shiny limbs start to fade, and he began to feel rather exhausted. He sat down and the limbs vanished. So, he did what he knew to do - reattached the prosthetics, returned to his apartment, and crashed.
  
  Over the next 6 months, he learned of the Grummond House and quickly moved in to be connected with others who were like him. He learned to harness his new "Soul Form" and has partnered in hunting the darkness ever since.

• Personality: Carson is a spitfire teen who acts like he's all that. He's stronger than you, cooler than you, gets more girls than you. Of course, it's all talk, and if you prove it he'll stare at you with his lip quivering as he searches uselessly for a real scorcher of an insult. He's easier to get on with if you don't put up a fight and let him get to know you. He's not afraid to find a little adventure and can make just about anything fun once he's done complaining. His fiery personality also means he'll defend the hell out of you, even if you don't want him to.
  
  Likes: Hot dogs, amusement parks, exploring creepy places, his job
  
  Dislikes: Sitting still, customers, overly sweet foods, reading
  
  Strengths: He's fun, deceptively fit, more than willing to learn new skills
  
  Weaknesses: His temper and stubbornness, clumsiness caused by trying too hard, reluctant to open up emotionally
• Powers: Carson can unhinge his jaw. Opening it impossibly wide, several rows of small, pointed teeth line the inside of his mouth. His jaw itself also has enough strength to crush bone and even weaker bits of metal, such as that of cans. It seems to be localized shape shifting, as his teeth appear perfectly normal at any other time. The strength, however, remains.
  
  Skills: Knows how to make Molotov cocktails and how to pick some locks. Also makes some killer game-day munchies.
  
  Equipment: Carson isn't picky as far as weapons go. His ability is only usable in extremely close quarters, and he's not keen on using it at all, so ranged weapons are a plus. Molotov cocktails in particular, when it's even the slightest bit reasonable to use them, are definitely a favourite. He doesn't know how to get a gun at this point, so when hunting, he carries around a metal baseball bat and an edgy-looking hunting knife.
• History: Outside his old town was a forest that, back in his parents' day, was used by local teens as a prime hangout spot. All over, you could find fire pits and beer cans, broken glass; all the typical markings of rowdy teenagers. However, over the course of a summer, there had been a number of murders in the forest. Kids went missing, a couple mangled bodies were found, and eventually even the more gutsy teens stopped daring their friends to go into the woods. As the next generation of kids came around, parents retold the stories to stop their own children from going near the place, and the murders became something of a local legend.
  
  Carson Waller snuck out one weekend with a group of his friends to see if they could find any of the bodies that were never recovered by police all those years ago. They spent a whole night there, joking around and having the best time as they camped around a renewed fire pit, before resuming their search the following day.
  
  The forest changed as they headed deeper. And in no way any of them could describe in words. A weird smell followed them past every tree, and sometimes they could swear they saw an arm or a leg – or something colourful – in the corner of their eye. Until it stepped out in front of them. It appeared to be a circus clown, and they quickly guessed he was the murderer from their parent's day. However, their first mistake was guessing it was even a "he".
  
  One by one they were picked off. Two of the boys got separated from the main group, and by the gore coating the face and front of their pursuer as it reappeared some time after, there was no doubt that this thing was something terribly, terribly wrong. This clown, with indescribably "off" proportions, followed them at a distance, sometimes getting close enough to touch a shoulder or wave a hand in their faces. It played with them until, supposedly, it got bored. Then effortlessly devoured Carson's last living friend.
  
  Like a snake. No biting, no chewing; it swallowed him whole.
  
  Carson's not entirely sure how he managed to beat the clown. All he remembers is being on the ground, holding the splintered branch directly upright, deep into the gaping maw of the creature. It's darkly-coloured blood slid down the branch to where Carson gripped it, and that was that.
  
  Several days later, for reasons he won't say, Carson ran away from home. Several other experiences lead him to being who he is today – an expert couch surfer and a passive hunter of spooks.
  
  If you were to ask Carson personally about his experience, he'd flaunt how much it was like a cheesy horror movie, and dress the story up with a bunch of unnecessary, questionably accurate details, and say it was "awesome".
