7:00 A.M

As the clock struck 7:00 A.M, devices around the world crackled to life. From older radio's to the newest holographic television, they all came alive all playing the morning tune. After the tune, a cheery looking and well dressed woman appeared on screens. "Good morning, new world! Today is June Fifteenth, you know what that means! That's right, folks, today marks the day that the Ubiquitary Equinox came and went, leaving the world a better and more sunny place! Yesterday was all about honoring all that were lost in the darkness, but today is all about celebrating our successes! The federation has powered up all the teleporters for free use for today, and encourage you to go out and explore everything we have accomplished! If you are wondering where to go, the federation has said it will send out a message to all eligible brain chips! They will also have pamphlets in stands near teleporters! Our learning services are shut down for still closed for the festival, so make sure you keep an eye on your kids today! I have been Lindy Sawyer with your morning update, we will now be moving to your local news channels for the weather, have a wonderful festival!" With those closing statements, everything turned to the usual, boring news. Weather reports, daily goings-on, and festival events. As the sun crept up above the horizon, people around the world emerged from the homes. It didn't take long until most streets were as busy as ever, with hover vehicles ferrying families towards teleporters. Sidewalks bustled with cheery faces as neighbors and friends greeted each other in passing and struck up friendly conversation. At the many large teleporters set up around the world, lines were forming. People were shuffled along through the plasma like doors according to the teleporter safety laws. Friendly, well dressed Federation employees walked about the crowds, passing out pamphlets and making conversation with passerby's.

OUR MINDS LAY AWAKE

Last night was a strange one, for very few. They dreamt of something most peculiar... (I recommend you only read about your character's dream. I cannot stop you from looking at others, though.)
A woman stood in a burning forest. She stood, staring with a blue green gaze into Jeanette as the fire caught onto her red hair and slowly engulfed her. The woman did not react as she burned away. After the night melted away into morning Desiree-Jeanette could remember the face of the burning woman clearly. The whispers in the back of her mind told her it was important.
The lifeless body of a woman more machine than woman sat at Violets feet. A torrent of rain enveloped them, quickly rusting away the mechanical parts of the dead woman. The body stared up at Violet, the only part still indicative of any life was the flickering blue LEDs in the woman's eyes. After the night melted away into morning Violet had perfect memory of the woman. In her mind, she began to stand out among the flurry of boring thoughts. The whispers in the back of her mind told her it was important.

Violet woke that morning with a cold sweat and the image of the woman's blinking eyes scorched into her mind, vivid imagery clouded her thoughts as the morning announcement on her holo-radio chimed on. She had trouble focusing and wiped sweat from her forehead, laying her head back down on her pillow to catch her breath. "Of course I have a nightmare today of all days. Like I didn't sleep terribly anyway." She said to herself staring at the ceiling. When she finally decided to focus on the morning announcement she only caught a few words about pamphlets and teleporters before deciding to get up for a shower. When she finished her morning routine, Violet went downstairs and was met by Catherine. Her adoptive mother gave her a knowing look and embraced her in a warm hug and they stood there for a while. "Thanks mom, I needed this." Catherine held Violet at arms length and smiled. "Anytime sweety, What would you like for breakfast?" She asked returning to the kitchen behind her. Violet smiled for the first time that morning when Catherine said "Waffles?" Before she could reply. Violet nodded her head and sat at the kitchen counter. There they discussed the morning announcement and Violet's dream. Catherine assured Violet that it was just a dream and that she shouldn't worry, but Violet couldn't shake it. She had a feeling this wasn't going to be the last she'd seen of this dream. After breakfast Violet greeted her adoptive father, Frank, Before going out to find the pamphlet stations as she had no robotic enhancements. Everywhere she looked she saw aspects of her dream, they floated in and out of her thoughts like like hornets pestering her. She wasn't looking forward to the day, so she just put on her headphones and pushed on to wherever she could find an event pamphlet for the day.

DJ | "Dizzy" | "Chaser"

Location: Victoria, BC, Canada - Inside the Dynecyber Upgrade Center - Diagnostics Lab - VIP Room 07

Cyber-Dj1.jpg
DJ sat there, chin slightly inclined, staring blankly at the holographic image of the cheery reporter as they blabbered off about all things cheery news related. She nodded along with all the reports of flee flowing traffic for rush hour, nodded along with all the numbers of people cured or healed from ailments, nodded along when the feel-even-better-than-good: "Good Morning, Victoria!!" morning story broke. But as soon as the topic of the Ubiquitary Equinox came up, she suddenly felt faint; feverish even. DJ mouthed the word 'Mute.' The familiar shine in her blue eyes lost its lustre as her gaze slowly slid down to the marble tiled floor. A rough swallow she gave to clear her throat. It was eerily quiet now. Only the buzz of the lights above droned on.

Had it been 10 years already? DJ's chin tilted slightly and her eyes traced the tattoos and subdermals on her arms and the braids that draped down from her head, lifeless now, as they draped over her mint-green hospital gown. 'Re-center.' she mouthed and the holo-image blipped into view just beyond her reach. Blue eyes glinted and narrowed. There was a festival getting ready by the seawall. There was a podium ready for the mayor. There was a dance floor set up. And above gigantic speakers, fans and lights were the riggings meant for aerial performers. DJ sighed a bittersweet sigh as she noted the mark where she --or rather she as "Chaser" #TheOnlyChaser-- was supposed to set up. But that was yet to be determined. First she needed to be cleared and get out of this diagnostics lab of course. But did she really want to perform tonight...?

The hell is wrong wit'chu?! she jumped as she did not expect such a harsh vocal reaction from her own internal monologue. Girl, get it together. You just need to focus. Re-center. It was just a dream--

DJ jumped again as her temples vibrated slightly.

<<Incoming call... Incoming call from Contact/Favourite: 'It's Mommy!!...' Incoming call from Contact/Favourite: '
It's 'Mommy!!...' ANSWER or DECLI-->>

<<Answer. Voice only--Hey mom... no, no-- Mom...! I'm good! Serious. I promise, I'm all good... Yes, nothing's broken. Mom-- Mom-- MOM--" DJ rolled her eyes. Of course mom would always be the first to call and yammer away all worried-like over her 'Precious Lil' Dizzy-Girl', "I just collapsed okay. They are saying that it had something to do with a programming glitch that caused a reboot. The lead tech is running full diagnostics and I should-- my gosh, wut! No, mother, I'm not pregnant!! The hell, lady...! Hahahahah!"

It took another 20 minutes of talking her down but finally DJ got mom to calm down. Yes, mom could be annoyingly tenacious, but hey, that is the exact reason DJ was where she was today. Without mom acting like a roaming pitbull, clamping down on any stray or random opportunity for her puppy, there would be no talent-shows, no auditions, no contracts, no contacts, no upgrades, no fortune, no fame. So needless to say, DJ was thankful for her even to this very moment.
Oh hell-to-the-yeah, DJ would put up with the smothering love that only that particular pitbull mama could provide. And besides, DJ loved the hell out of that lady; her mom, Stephania was the best positive role-model ever. By the time they said their kisses-and-goodbyes, Glenda the 'Talent Handler' from Armada Inc waltzed in flanked by Norman, DJ's agent. Which was too bad actually, this whole 'Ahhh-red-alert--the-talent-just-went-down!-situation and the frantic call from mom was a nice break from the monotony of the previous weeks and months.

Just leave it to Gloomy One and Gloomy Two to bring her back down to the mundanity of this earth Post-UE. Of course, there was nothing wrong with her. Absolutely fine and zero percent wrong, said the holo-image report that blipped into life, floating proudly for all to see. This report came straight from the top engineer of Dynecyber; the company that trans/implanted almost all of her upgrades. They guaranteed that it was just a bug that would never rear its ugly head ever again. This signed doc guaranteed that DJ/Chaser was cleared to be in the show tonight. DJ nodded and shrugged. It was not that DJ did not want to perform tonight. It was just the idea of missing a show was... something different for once.

With the grace of a Hasborough-Cat coupled with the elegant stylings of which only one Ms. Chaser could provide, she leapt out from her gurney, flipped and twisted mid-air, and landed in 'Black-Widow' pose on the floor in front of her Agent. He squealed, held a hand to his chest and breathed deeply, colour lost from his face. He absolutely hated when she did acrobatics in a place where she was not covered by insurance. She on the other hand, absolutely loved freaking out Normie, and so she tossed an arm around his shoulders and laughed hysterically. When a bit more calmed, she offered him a SIM record playback of her recent leap... if only for he to see his own expression and reaction.

Glenda scowled, tossed them both a curt upward chinbob, and clip-clop, clip-clop went her heels as she strut out the door. Norman half-shrugged, half-peeled his client's arm gingerly away from his shoulders, as if she had some kind of contagion. DJ cracked up even more, hooting and hollering and clutching at her belly, as she watched him shake his head, follow in behind the 'Talent Handler' from Armada Inc. and on purpose, close the frosted glass door on her. DJ shook her own head as she wiped the tears from her eyes. Then suddenly she shot up rigid, blue eyes trembling wide and peering intently into the glass of the door. No, not at the glass itself but at the reflection of herself and just over her left shoulder.

As if in slow motion she turned to look at what raged away directly behind her.

Only the blank, white sterile wall stared back at her. Regardless, DJ whipped around swiftly, made it to the exit in one humungous leap, pushed aggrressively at the door and let herself out. She caught up to Glenda and Norman in a heartbeat. A shallow breath she let out and slowly turned to give one last glance behind her. Of course, there was no freaky glowing eyes staring at her, and more importantly, of course, the room was not engulfed in an inferno.
