• 2018: The U.S.A. follows through with previous statement, although the action isn't taken seriously by most other foreign powers.

• 2019, July 14th: A majority of the U.S. military gathers along the Canadian land boarder. Military operations and movements are declared 'training' exercises. Canada dismisses all doubt of impending war, and publicly announces such.
• 2019, August 6th: Canada denounces America. Major American leaders are nowhere in sight, and have seemingly vanished overnight. Public opinion of the U.S.A. is the lowest it could've ever been, and riots occur across American soil. Martial law is declared in Washington D.C., New York and Illinois. American citizens are called home from Canada, although the final count of those returning is severely low.

• 2020, March 2nd: War is declared officially by the United States against Canada. Citizens of both powers distraught. NATO seemingly ignores the conflict despite world tension and Canada being a founding member.
• 2020, August 9th(Early): During the early hours of the morning, Canadian forces capitulate and the government of Canada collapses. America declares annexation of Canadian land and citizens.
• 2020, August 9th(Late): Development of military assets and programs begin underway far north of civilization. Out of sight, out of mind.
• 2021, January 16th: Most riots have been quelled by this point, put down with an iron boot by the American military. The death count is estimated to be well over a few thousand by foreign officials, but the few remnants of the American government don't release an actual figure in the following days.
• 2021, January 19th: The last remaining figure in parliament steps down, and the American government collapses not much longer after this event on the same day.
• 2021, January 20th: The American military officially declares control of the U.S.A., and urges foreign officials to take no action. Many members of the armed forces abandon their post instead of answering the cry for duty. Riots begin once again with public outcry for foreign intervention.

• 2022: Large numbers of the American public form militia like groups, and a civil war breaks out between those in support of freedom and others backing the military occupation.
• 2023: With the continued new age American civil war, tensions had increased in other powers. Violence erupts on a global scale as American infrastructure and power crumbles to dust. Not one place is held for long as battles come and go between the official military and the militias.

• 2025: With very little communication regarding the outside world, the American populace had resorted to looting and violence. Anyone with a weapon had started looting during this period, and the aforementioned militias had quickly dissolved early this year. The last of the pseudo-government holds out in Chicago; anyone still in support of the crumbled superpower would be found here.
• 2026: With very little to keep its citizens in line, the military government struggles to keep power and order in the last bastion of Chicago. Due to the previous collapse of major and basic infrastructure, those still within the states were practically blind to the outside world; they'd receive neither support nor word as they're left to fend for themselves. It can be assumed that other countries collapsed in a similar fashion not long before this year.
Once the contagion takes complete control, those affected will go into a rage-filled state. They'll want to do nothing more than harm others or themselves in order to create proper vectors. If an infected individual is killed during the aforementioned state, they'll undergo recombination at a cellular level, and the contagion will convert them into a proper controlled vector.
The bodies of those in the 'vector' state, or more aptly named 'zombie' state, will produce highly concentrated doses of the chemical causing the contagion in the first place. This means those attacked, bitten or otherwise exposed to the blood of the vectors are in for a bad time. Starting with immediate shutdown of the immune system, the individual will be taken over rather quickly in comparison to succumbing 'naturally'.
Necrotic tissue appears to be unnaturally resistant towards natural decomposition, keeping the cadaver as a subject until control is impossible. In other words, severing of the brain-stem or destruction of the brain itself.
We'll need to look further into this. Thankfully, it's contained, and not ready for field trials as of current.

The materials of the project are easily salvaged, even in the event of total lockdown and CODE CITADEL.
Hesitation should not be a factor when it comes to the lives of your fellow Researchers.

• 2027, March 4th(Early): Sudden skirmishes breakout within Alaska between military remnants and an outside force. Chemical weapons of previously unknown origin are utilized by one side.
• 2027, March 4th(Early): None of the combatants present within Alaska live, or leave unscathed, as a low yield nuclear weapon is deployed surface-side. Who exactly detonated such a weapon is unclear, although the resulting fallout spreads the previously mentioned chemical weapons in an airborne cocktail of sorts. The effects aren't immediate, but the resulting contagion slowly finds its way around the globe in the coming years.
• 2027, March 4th(Late): The earlier nuclear detonation triggers automated LCCs; although the result is delayed due to no confirmation - automated systems are forced to assume control. Housed payloads are deployed. Few pre-targeted locations are struck, while the rest of the missiles, having been unmaintained, detonated within their silos or shortly after launch.
• 2027, March 4th(Late): With locations across the globe having been burnt in nuclear fire by the few payloads to reach their target, the recipient's LCCs attack in kind. As one can imagine, this is catastrophic for the entirety of the planet. We can now consider the world to be an utter wasteland.
Thankfully, the resulting radioactive 'dust' is quick to decay. Mostly. Severe Hot-Zones still exist, and will for the foreseeable future.
It's happened. To no surprise, of course.
While I fear for the surface, there's little to be done for now. The home defense group of this facility wants to go topside. Says there's hope to be had in correcting wrong doings having been put in motion. Stupid.
We're sealed in, regardless, until surface level radiation subsides. As protocol dictates, Research and Development must continue with previously set out tasks.
We're so close to figuring it out. We can't stop now.
I just pity those we field tested on - easier to do on the bodies of well trained soldiers, rather than malnourished civilians. We had to end the test with a detonation, of course, which led to our current situation. A minor setback.

• 2032: Stories start to pop up regarding military remnant activities, and their supposed facilities within radioactive hot zones. Whatever the case may be, these groups of well armed and trained individuals appear to be targeting whatever remains of infrastructure. Trainyards, vehicle depots and so on. Locations that are vital for any proper civilized movements. One could summarize that they're attempting to quell the spread of infected individuals, or, more accurately, active Vectors.
Such a thing doesn't make sense of course, considering that an active Vector isn't capable of higher thought. Perhaps there's another reason?
Turns out the detonation by the eggheads wasn't the brightest of solutions to an out of control test. They wouldn't admit it at first, but it seems that the general populace, or what was left of it considering nuclear holocaust, have contracted it. Initial scout reports corroborate this.
When on surface patrols, remember to be in full kit at all times. We're vaccinated regularly against the newest developments that occur from the mutated 'weapon' for a reason. It's ever changing, and if you return with something we've not found a work around for, you may endanger us all.

On another note:
We're dubbing the controlled corpses and the living in rage-states as 'Active Vectors'. They're shoot on sight, as we've no way of helping literal living-dead and psychotic individuals.
The boys tried to talk us into calling them 'Zombies', as they'd be more appropriately named. Whether you want to adopt such a term is up to each field team, but within the facilities we're maintaining a sense of professionalism.
• Corpses are to be left where they fall, if within a reasonable distance from any facilities.
• Aerial teams are to mask their approach, and when returning must remain in designated areas while awaiting clearance to enter their assigned facilities.
• Ground teams are to maintain radio silence when on extended operations, except when mission critical assets are found, or at severe risk.
• Contact with civilians is PROHIBITED. Those deemed a security risk are clear to be engaged.

• 2040, October 17th: Our story begins here, within the now major conflict zone of the previously known Rock Island Arsenal. Scavengers and roaming gangs fight for control of abandoned supplies, while typical survivors find themselves caught in the crossfire. Military grade supplies. How'd they end up there? Well, early in the morning a firefight broke out, resulting in the arrival of a helicopter and immediate aerial bug out of Remnant forces occupying the area.
Of course, this is creating and drawing the attention of 'zombies', and turning the zone into a no-go for the unarmed. Also, it's cold. Bring a blanket.
Drop areas will have been marked on your global positioning device.
Leave the assets in the designated zones, and await further instructions.
We'll be sending aerial teams to tag and retrieve these materials in two days time.
It's all on you.
All non-scientific assets are free to use in order to accomplish your objective.
However, specially marked lock-boxes contain specimens left by the earlier ground team.
You are to assure their pick up, over anything else if need-be, and under no circumstances should you open said containers.

Initial Observations
The contagion itself appears to mainly focus on and attack necrotic tissue, although doesn't shy away from living hosts if their immune system is weakened. Once it finds a subject, the agent goes to work reforming certain cells in order to obtain 'control'. In a sense, it turns people into zombies. Something you'd see out of a movie. No individual can truly be free of infection, as it's airborne, and everyone will succumb to it eventually. In the event of an outbreak, that is. Given the current state of the project, it'd do us some good to further advancements in the development of a vaccine. We're able to produce a temporary treatment that works in the event of immune system compromisation, but it's not enough.To even get anywhere with a vaccine of sorts, we need live specimens and not inert samples.

Retrieval of lost assets is now paramount, as in accordance with the latest standing orders.Drop areas will have been marked on your global positioning device.

• Character fights and the resolution are up to the players. If the GM isn't present, or unable to respond to such a situation, you may, as a duo or group, discuss the outcome.
• GM word is final.
• Four sentences minimum per post. Preferably.
• Main Character Syndrome will lead to PKs.
• Unlimited player characters, so long as they aren't used for powergame.
• Characters should be reasonable.
