Traditional Textures

Alexandra

The black-eyed cousin
As I do a lot of mixed media work, I make a ton of handmade textures with watercolour and ink, to use as backgrounds and patches of colour.

So, I figured I'd stick some samples up here in case anyone was interested.

They're only low-quality snippet examples, to save space, but I have high-res versions of all of them. If anyone wants to use them in artwork, or as backgrounds for Photoshop or vector work, PM me and I can link you to where I store the high-res ones.

All I ask is to be credited ^_^

I'll add more over time, which will definitely be happening, as I use these a great deal in my illustration work.

For more complicated and varied textures, LostAndTaken is the best *completely*free* resource out there I have ever seen...

These are... in short, amazing. You clearly have a good sense with regards to value and color. They're quite evocative, like there's something more just underneath the surface. Thank you for sharing!

Woah, thanks for the feedback.

Always nice to see someone get as excited about textures as I do. I mostly use these for backgrounds in mixed media and collage work; this one, for instance, used the orange yellow from my first post above ~
