The foxes of three lineages have always gathered together in the place known as the House of Kitsune, otherwise known as the Fox's Den. These trickster spirits live in human houses, cemeteries, or normal fox dens and have hundreds of years of knowledge, wisdomand power. They are the kitsune of japaneselegends, the kumiho of korean folklore, and the huli jing of chinese tales. No matter what kind of fox spirit you are, you are always welcomed by the owner of the House of Kitsune.
Two human kingdoms, the Kahleon Empire and the Ashodinyth Realm, have been at odds for centuries now, mostly over a strip of disputed territory called the Ashgur Strip which runs between the two countries. It is a thirty mile wide by one hundred mile long area and within it lies the Everdark Groves which are said to be enchanted, and is currently under Ashodinth's rule. Legend says that whichever kingdom owns these groves shall be looked upon favorably by the Creator God. What the humans do not know is that the Everdark Groves plays host to the Fox's Den, a gathering place of fox spirits from any walk of life.
Just in the last few months, myobu foxes under Inari have gotten bolder, causing fires and tricking humans. Some know it is because of a powerful fox spirit who was able to enchant the ear of the Kahleon Emperor and win his favor through beauty and charm. Even fewer claim that it is Inari the kami herself although those claims are not validated. It is said that very few have actually seen her, both among humans and kitsune. Whomever itis, she is causing the myobu to go crazy. They are increasingly bold, aggressive, and violent. The fox spirits are split. Some say this is the time to carve out their own place in the world, like a human kingdom. Others are fine as they are and want peace between foxes and man. The nogitsune harbor some enmity against the myobu, who were always an exclusive group, and say they don't care what they do, even if it kills them.
The kumiho on the other hand, are not helping to ease the tension. Some have taken advantage of the chaos to begin preying on humans to eat their liver, something that was unofficially banned among foxes so their presence would not be found out by the horrific stories of boys with their entrails spilled out. They say that if a fox eats 100 human livers, he or she will successfully become human permanently.
A whisper in the Ashodinyth Realm (possibly started by the nogitsune?) that these misfortunes and tragedies happening near the Ashgur strip is the result of fox spirits. Thus begins the occupation of spirit hunters. It's a difficult job, and not much research has been done, but a few have been successful collecting the tails of fox spirits and either boasting about them, displaying them, wearing them, or selling them at exorbitantly high prices. This predictably angers a larger portion of the kitsune.
At the House of Kitsune, you hear rumors of other yokai starting to stir.
What is happening?
Will the foxes unite or bow to external forces?
And what is the fate of the Foxes' Den?

Other world facts:
There are several smaller city-states and territories surrounding the two largest kingdoms: Ashodinyth to the east and Kahleon to the west. Most notably there is the "kingdom of bandits," Yadurra, the "village of sailors," Bangtsal, and the "trader capital," Eipuryen. The Ashgur Strip lies between Ashodinyth and Kahleon. Within the Strip is the Everdark Groves.
The Southern Isles lie just off Southern Shores, while to the north of the isles lie the Cantish states (nation of Cantorr). The Southern Isles are known for their delectable seafood and fishing industry, while the Cantish states are excellent craftsmen especially in precious metals and gems. The Cantish merchants also sell various fabrics and silks.
Further south lies the Glassy Sea. To the west is the Silver Sea, and as it becomes water for miles and miles, the Silver Crestes (ocean). Pirates are known to haunt the Silver Sea and trade in valuables.
To the north you have the Nordish Folklands (Nordic states). They are a conglomerate of not-very-peaceful or cooperative tribes that are skilled in seal hunting and trade lumber occasionally.
Elgorn's Keep is to the East along the prominent trade route: the Emerald Snake. The Snake runs through nearly every state that is worth talking about. When passing from the Western states to the Eastern states you have to pay Elgorn (who is a shiny-loving dragon, surprise, surprise) a hefty tax as no one has yet to abolish the creature. A worthy pursuit, no? Whomever defeats the dragon will gain fame and a good bit of money from the Merchant's Association.
When you hear about the Golden Thread in the Songs of the Bard, it refers to a semi-legend semi-truthful phenomenon that takes place in the Northern Keep just before the Nordic states when the air begins to shimmer like gold. This phenomenon paints a golden line running for miles and miles. No one has yet to find out where it ends, but the Bards say that there is something both wondrous and horrendous at the end. If you like chasing tales, perhaps this would be a grand adventure, eh?
The King of Ashodinyth is named Prasentinus Iagar. Prasentinus has been ruling for 21 years and is 40 years old. His father was well-loved especially among the middle class. The country is wealthy with natural resources.
The Kahleon Emperor is named Tsaio-sun Keiji. Tsiao-sun has been ruling for 16 years and is 37 years old. His rule is cold and calculating, but his strategic decisions has made his empire prosper and the people are not unhappy. He controls a vast and well-disciplined army.
There will be mainly Asian cultural undertones to this mixed with some European traits.
Four seasons dominate the year: Harvest season(fall), Bitterfrost (winter. starts on the day of First Snow), the Season of Showers (spring, characterized by seasonal showers), and Sun-Glow (summer). Currently we are in the Season of Showers. The year is 202 after the Rise of Man (after formal civilizations and governments formed, more organized society).
